- This is reportedly America’s largest tiny home community, and it will be housing people in need. 224 people who previously didn’t have a place to sleep will soon move into their own tiny homes in Highland Park, California. Outreach teams went into the community to sign up unhoused people for move-in day, November 2nd. The tiny homes measure eight feet by eight feet, and have heating, cooling and electricity. Each tiny home reportedly cost the city about $8,000, including set-up and delivery. #InsideEdition
Honestly, the most important thing about these homes is that they can provide an address to these people. That by itself is such a barrier to getting a job or any sort of help
This is a beautiful Idea I wish our government Can support and fund this it'll help the homeless people so much Carly
Yes and it's a lovely idea too

Totally true Carly, we live in a messed up world where the income disparity is growing bigger and it seems the people in power, want to keep it that way.

This is what the federal government should be investing and funding.
Yeah, but we need more bombs. (Sarcasm)

Looks good now, but it will fail... and won't look like that in 6 months, you will have drugs and hookers and trash everywhere

This should be spread all over the US. Homeless people will now have at least some shelter and help businesses by applying for a job. Such a great idea that doesn’t even cost that much. (Edit: I understand, it might be in the middle of the freeway, but at least people in need will have a nice shelter to live in. Isn’t that the most important thing?)
I love my tiny home, I built a small cabin in a swamp and will be live in a big house again.
Just remember it wasn't the government's idea. In fact, when private individuals attempted to do the same thing, the government confiscated the tiny homes from the homeless and destroyed them.

It's not just ethical to do things like this for the less fortunate - it physically makes the streets look way better. Also people operate better if they live in more accomodating enviroments with privacy and somewhere to sleep. I hope these people can start getting jobs and make their own money, even if its just at McDonalds or something because they need to use their lives for something.
If this was happening near your house, you'd sing a different tune. Homeless people bring with them crime, drugs and less safety for your children.

Unfortunately it's pure futility and will not work. The concept has already tried and failed. It's called housing projects and results in crime ridden ghettos. The answer to homelessness is a strong sense of nationalism and stopping immigration to better address job opportunities. Also there needs to be emphasis on incentives to work rather than giving free homes to people who honestly didn't do anything to deserve them.
@@randymctavish3728 I hope your comment is satire.
@@zed6740 I'm just advocating for fundamental solutions and responsible government rather than failed experiments which encourage dependency and does not address the fundamental issues which put them there in the first place.

yeah, and it's so much cheaper than paying tons of police and putting the homeless into jail
Your 100% right, Our government should be helping our fellow Americans out instead of ditching money on foreign countries
Guarantee you the cost of maintaining these tiny home villages is going to end up being MUCH more than $8000 a unit. I also don't see any of those homes being in any condition to live in 5 years from now. An apartment complex would've been better imo.

People yell at the homeless "get a job" BUT before you can Keep a job you Have To Have A Home!! This is great here!
On most job applications it asks for a place of residence and a background check. If some one is homeless and puts down a fake address it will often show up on the BG check. The cycle is so rigged for them
@@sixfeetundertheradar6080 lol they don’t ask that at liquor stores, or agricultural jobs, or even unloading trucks 😂 excuses man
Not true
I used my friends address in San Antonio while looking for a job. I wasn't homeless though, just relocating. They could put a fake address down on an application. It won't effect it. Now being dirty or strung out on drugs or an alcoholic will certainly hurt your chances.
IN MY VIEW
Unless you work with the homeless you don’t know that homeless agencies give an address for homeless people to put on their job applications.
it’s honestly astounding how affected people feel about these tiny homes. like you pass by them on the street without a care and now that they’re gonna have somewhere to live and be safe it’s a problem makes no sense
It's a case of damn if you do damn if you don't
Why would people protest this!? It breaks my heart
Because they're selfish. Here’s a suggestion: instead of building new shopping centers/stadiums on empty lands/lots, build more tiny homes, affordable housing, hospitals, etc…
actually stadiums like the Dodger stadium were build in the residential area of Mexican Americans they just kicked them out of their homes and compensented them with however much they thought it was worth then built a stadium on top but yeah I agree with what you're saying
Good luck with that, capitalism is a vicious god
They don't make much money off that so it won't happen like that but you and I know both know that's what needs to be done. It's very hard to keep a job when you don't have a phone an a roof over ur head. I've been in that situation it's very hard to make a come back from being that far down.
You need a phone an transportation an a roof over ur head to actually be able to hold a job. It's very stressful to sleep on the streets an go to work. An with the cost of living going up they will probably only be able to make enough to keep that home an not be able to save any money. Although having a car is a huge expense
No body need your suggestion.
This won't solve the homeless crisis in California, but this small action could led to bigger changes down the road.
It reminds me of some of my favorite flavor text. "You can't save everyone, but you can save one person. And they well save another person. And them another, till everyone is saved."
It’s step in the right direction
It's just gonna draw homeless from other areas like a giant homeless magnet.
This is too improve it even just a lil before the up coming major events like the 2028 World Cup
Ok wise guy then what's the plan?
Ofc they can't solve everything, but It's still a big help.
People always kick out homeless people anywhere they go in the city. They sleep outside a Walmart, they get kicked out, they sleep outside a restaurant, they get kicked out, they sleep in a hydro field, they get kicked out. Even in a forest they might get kicked out and depending on where you live, it might be dangerous to live in a forest because of bears and all of that. So they have nowhere to go. These houses will decrease the number of homeless people living outside places people don't want them to be so I think it's a good idea.
This is a great start. Why can't this be done across the country for the homeless population?
I hope you succeed successful in life.
Because I'm not the president
My mom is like those protesters. She wants the homeless to get the help they need, she doesn't want them getting the help they need in her neighborhood because it "would be unsightly". I think this is a morally abhorrent position to take. Especially because I was once homeless and to think that my own mother wouldn't want me in her neighborhood just kills me.
