Starting a tiny house community has been a goal of mine since I was young, long before the tiny house movement. It just makes sense with the lack of affordable housing everywhere. I have always said if I got a plot of land I would fill it with tiny houses with a sustainable food garden, nature trails, artist studios, brewery, and performance space for musicians and performers. I used to draw floor plans any time I got my hands on graph paper and a pencil. Real in person intentional community is causing so much harm these days. I know it makes me sound like a weird hippie but connection is so essential for a healthy life.

I have a vision of kibbutz type community with tiny homes. Modified to where people can own their belongings and money, with shared ownership of community. I am not hippie or socialist. I believe life can be shared, it's burdens and joys. Unrelated people can be like family. I am just a conservative single woman that wants to live and let live. I have rescued a bunch of cats, about half are feral. I am coming to realization that long term a one person rescue is not sustainable. Not a 501c3. All on my dime. I work 2 jobs to cover expense but then it costs time to care for them too. Want to make pet rescue/sanctuary part of community. I am 55, owe just under 6k on my home. I want to refinance and use the $$ to build such a community. I too think of this as a retirement plan. People die of loneliness as much as anything else. With our economy tanking, people of like mind need to band together. Too much redundancy and expense to be lone rangers. In general I am thinking of women of my general age but not opposed to men and families. Is just a harder sell to them. Got several friends who have been struggling and only getting worse. So blind to world around them.. they don't want to give up what they will eventually lose anyway. They prefer the way it is to a discussion of potentially an improvement in life quality. I love them but realize I need a new tribe. I am in NE Alabama. I like the area. Seems to be restrictions on home sizes though. 45 mins to Bham. 2 hrs to Atlanta. I work in Bham and enjoy city benefits. Just don't want to live there. Anyway sorry for novel. Your post struck a chord with me.

This is fabulous. Unlike almost every other TH community, they have designed the community beautifully allowing for privacy & space. The homes aren't literally on top of each other in rows. I've been researching TH & communities for many years. I love the diversity offered here as well as the outdoor activities; especially gardening which goes hand in hand with the mindset of many interested in tiny homes. Being dog friendly is another bonus! The open areas here are beautiful. I've been planning on selling my current properties early next year building a TH & moving into a community. I was hoping to move to the west coast to be closer to family but this looks like I may be moving south instead.

The entire community is well kept, and you can tell people take pride in where they live. Now . . . we've got a winner here with this TH property. I love the open green space and the diversity both in the homes and in the residential make up. It's very welcoming . . . so much more than some TH communities that feel like you're living in a Safeway parking lot. I wish more states/counties would tweak their ordinances to allow such communities as this. The space rent may seem a lil high . . . but . . . considering the ambiance and the amenities . . . I think it's appropriate. I'm curious about the septic system . . . Is it more like a small sewage plant . . . or . . . a X-large septic system?

@Nala June News Flash! We ARE the government. That's what elections are all about. We geographically elect people to represent us. Then, they all get together to work in our interest to make things run. Didn't you pay attention in Gov't class in High School? No . . . we don't always get the person in office that we want . . . but, that's what campaining is all about. That's also why we don't want big orange losers trying to overturn our democratic system.

@Nala June When you understand our entire political system has been rooted in colonialism and imperialism, there has never been a time when our country hasn’t been steeped in the blood of genocide, slavery and oppression, voting was never designed to ensure freedom for all but only freedom for some-you realize a revolution is needed to crush capitalism in order to create a society that works for working people with a circular economy that works with our limited natural resources.

@@tthom2459 No one who would work for the greater good will run for office any more, only those with self-interest (like Manchin) and drunk on power. This is why it's not working for us anymore. When we only vote for the lesser of two evils, we get corruption and the obscene wealth gap that exists today. The only way out is lots of truly good candidates or revolution. If the latter, we could end up with worse than we have now.

OMG!!! This is amazing, and should be THE prototype for tiny home communities all over the COUNTRY. These homes are not on top of each other, aren't sitting on asphalt or rock, and the setting is simply stunning!!! Cities need to get on board for this type of living spaces, they are so versatile, as the speaker said. All types of people live in tiny homes. Fantastic.

After seeing a few more videos from this community, I came back and watched this again. It’s obvious that something special is going on because some very caring people own this property and have set it up for success by listening to the people who actually live the tiny home life. I’ve immersed myself into tiny home You Tube videos for years now- but continue to live in our 6,000 sq ft home. It’s kind of funny, actually. We do have five grown and almost grown kids, plus grandkids, but if it weren’t for that, I’d be in a tiny home pretty fast! I love your channel and look forward to what’s new each week!

This is a gorgeous tiny home community. A real stand-out! I love how the homes have a lot of space around them. That would make all the difference to me. Some nice amenities and it sounds like they have plans for more. The only thing is I'd want to own my land. Space rent does not appeal to me at all and will go up over time. If I were to go the tiny home route, and it does appeal to me, I'd personally need to own the land it's on.

Australia is so backwards when it comes to tiny houses. There's a major housing crisis here ATM & the government barely consider tiny homes as worth their consideration.
