I have been reading some of the comments and I think ,Mary , that you are a real inspiration to many women. I am 76 years old, been ill for a good many years, have not bothered even styling my hair, but watching you, I was reminded of who I once was. Well, I think I have to do as you suggest, make it a hobby to get all dolled up. Never know, could be a turning point for me.

Suzan, I am very sorry you have been I’ll a long time, That can really take the wind from your sail! Please be good to yourself. An article I read once said to wear your favorite outfit when feeling down. I tried that advice and it worked. I find makeup helps me feel prettier, even with all my sags & wrinkles. 😉

I don't think the bronze or suits you, I find that people like myself with lighter skin have to be very careful with bronzer and I noticed that when you use the bronzer it tended to leave a brown ban across your forehead
You look beautiful with your makeup. I can tell you’re a very young 79! I’m a firm believer in make up. I’m 76, and I don’t go anywhere without make up on. It makes me feel better about myself. As we age, we lose color in our complexion and lips, so we need that color from foundation to even skin tone, to blush and lipstick to bring back the color and life to our faces. ❤

You look great! My mom stopped wearing makeup at age 87. That’s when she also stopped wearing her jewelry. She always liked looking nice. She passed away at age 92 last Nov 2022. But she was always an inspiration for us daughters to always look our best. Love and miss you Mom. ♥️

I'm new at this but I had to ask you. You don't look like you have wrinkles! I'm 69 and have wrinkles around my lips and well all over. It seems like when I put makeup on the wrinkles show up so I GAVE UP! You make me want to try again. If you have any tips for me I'd LOVE to hear what they are! Oh my goodness, I had given up on using makeup. Now at 3 months away from turning 72 you have given me hope for finding the right kind of makeup for us older ladies. I haven't felt beautiful in a very long time, but that's about to change starting with this video. I just need a little guidance for purchasing the right products for my skin tones. Hi, Mary, your video popped up on my feed this morning. I, too, am turning 79 next month. You look terrific. I enjoyed watching your makeup routine. I have always been one to wear makeup every day of my adult life. I think it, along with big brimmed hats and staying in the shade a lot protected my skin from sun damage. We had no SPF products when we were young. I had a bad sunburn one time and itwas painful. I figured out ways to protect my skin and yet enjoy sunshine. So at almost 80, I feel good about my appearance. Look good; Feel good. I use a light touch with makeup, have a good haircut, am aware of good posture and how I carry myself when moving around, smile and laugh often, engage with other people, keep up with what is going on in the world, have a little dog to keep me exercised. Others cannot tell how old I am. My life is good. I wish that for everyone.
How awesome, good to hear, keep it up. If you do use eyeshadows or rouge or lipstick you can buy any one of those singly with us in the shadows are awesome you don’t have to buy the make up just so you know. Thanks for sharing your story
Lovely positive comments. I am eighty-four but still go through the make up routine daily! Walking the dogs is a great aid to good skin and a positive outlook I feel.
I'm 80, as of Jan.30 2023, & I quit the makeup, cuz to me its always been a bother to put makeup on everyday. A few months ago, I decided to stop the makeup. But I always apply a good moisturizer to face & neck. I have shoulder length hair & very little grey/white hair. I do eat right, exercise a bit, try to get enough sleep. I don't drink alcohol or smoke. I quit the booze & cigarettes almost 20 yrs ago. I believe booze & smoke will age u alot. I drink 2 cups of coffee & 2 cups green tea each day, & keep my weight down, keep & a positive attitude & appreciate the folks in my life, & thank God each day for all that I have whether it's a lot or a little . And No one ever believes I'm 80.

I was told that only vain people wear make up... but I now believe that is backwards. You would have to be vain to think you are perfect the way you wake up! A little make up just gives you that bit of confidence...especially if you were teased or have low self esteem/confidence. You often get treated better by others if you make the effort to be presentable. Once you get to a certain age, you start to feel invisible...does anyone agree??

Just a tip, I don’t know how Mary recommends it as I haven’t seen her video yet. But I saw one ages ago which recommended buying powdered collagen and adding it to your morning coffee or orange juice once a day
I stopped wearing makeup years ago just because I thought, no one cares anyway. But when I was young, I wouldn’t ever go out without just a TOUCH of eyeliner and blusher. Just a touch of those two things make a difference
All I know is I am 58 and you look younger than me before you even start!!! I’m trying to find something to help with horrible lip lines as I got dentures a year ago and after the gums shrank I aged 30 years! Thanks for sharing your routine!! You are simply lovely!

Thank you Mary for a wonderful tutorial on how to apply makeup. I am 74 years into my life and one thing I find annoying is having a gorgeous 20 something teaching me how to cover up wrinkles, I went through a very difficult 3 year period of severe PTSD when I didn’t care if I was alive much less concerned about makeup, then Covid hit (which gave me a little time to recover) but after it was all over, I was completely out of practice and really didn’t care. I am now in the process of purchasing new makeup ( all I had was too old to use) but don’t like wearing much, just the basics. You are quite beautiful, happy you have the time and desire to go through the entire process!.

I'm 79..this looks like a lot to go through ..as you age less is more..makeup is supposed to enhance..not overpower...It takes me 10-15 minutes to makeup ..people guess my age as 20-30 years younger...I began taking care of my skin at 12 and have never gone to bed without washing my face unless I was in the hospital or very ill..I eat right exercise and wear sunscreen..
Good health shows..My husband and friends told me they can't tell if I'm wearing makeup or not..that speaks volumes
I am was trained as a make up artist and I know that Mary could do her whole make-up in 10 minutes flat when not demonstrating her techniques.

I fast 12 hours daily from 9pm to 9am. It resets the body systems and keeps me at my thin self. I, as an older woman, still very active, healthy and put together well, need more videos like this. I have been wearing makeup since I was 5 years old; my maternal grandmother went to modeling school when she was in her middle 50's and she practiced on me and my 2 cousins! What a great makeup kit she had and, now I am 70 and I still love makeup! Even if I am staying home, I still have to "put on" my eyebrows and some lipstick! Very nice to see your video!

I could never put all this stuff on my face it would drive me crazy.!!!!! I do however always have my eyebrows & eyelashes tinted every 6 weeks. . I love love my lippy, and as for my face. a lightly tinted moisturiser, and a bit if mascara if I am going somewhere special . This lady looks very well without make up. & she is very good at applying it, So every one is different when it comes to make up. I have never in my 76 years used blusher, or this gastly bronzer, infact I truly believe makeup as one gets older makes one look older.or as you so rightly put it makes us look like a clown .

I'm nearly 73 and the only time I wore face makeup was my wedding in 1972. It felt like my skin couldn't breathe! But I'm loving your gels and creamy products and of course they are much more user friendly now.

How beautiful! I used to love to do my makeup but kinda lost interest in my 60's. I'm 70 now & kinda thought there's no point until I watched your video.
One of the things that bothers me is how the foundation emphasizes the lines & wrinkles. But after watching you, I'm thinking I may be using the wrong brand. I'm careful about putting too much on but your technique is great.

I'm so tickled to see a "senior" woman doing her own makeup! Mostly I see videos of a professional putting it on older women OR it's just young girls (20s/30s) doing their makeup. I feel like as we get older, we're not supposed to be able to put on our own makeup. It's discouraged. But watching you makes me want to get out my makeup and play with my eyes, lips, face....thank you.

Here's the scoop on why some have pros putting on their makeup~~I lost the sight in one eye to detaching retina after 10 surgeries. My sighted eye has a huge cataract in it. So help putting makeup on is quite a feat!!

I’m 67, and don’t wear any face makeup only because I’m I can never find the right shade, and no matter what type I try it immediately accentuates my lines and wrinkles. Also I’m Italian and have always had dark circles and still can’t hide them correctly. You look great, even without makeup! I wish you could help me!! Thank you for sharing your techniques. That was very nice of you to demonstrate on how you apply make-up. I'm 64 and only put on pencils on my brows and when I go out I put on just foundation. I don't know how to blend the make-up and use all that other stuff. Yonger women make it look so hard and tend to apply it so dark. Thank you for sharing your application! 👍

I’m 53 & still VERY much remember the days of baking ourselves in the sun…lol. “Laying out” (as we called it) in the backyard for hours covered in baby oil from head to toe. Hair sprayed with lemon juice for the sun-bleached look. & let’s not forget the rise of the “tannin’ bed” in the 90’s! We then could bake ourselves more efficiently!🤦🏻♀️ I have the facial sunspots to prove it.😣

It is great to say it is like a hobby, and I learnt some great tips from Mary. It is an excellent hobby. To see a lady just like myself doing her own make-up is great/ I will never stop wearing it until I cannot do it anymore.
I am 73 and learning to play the piano too. I am learning by an excellent method designed for seniors or anyone who can't get on with reading music.
Good for you it, my hobby has become a busy hobby but I love it. It's like a painting, hobby good for you I was learning something new.
