    Loved this video. One of your closing remarks got me thinking, when you said something like, "some folks need to skip this journey and get an all-in-one." I wonder what it's going to be like for the future guitarists who have never played through a tube amp, will they ever know what it is they are trying to 'model'? As I myself am saving up for a Quad Cortex, I love the long and expensive journey I have had trying things and becoming the guy who has heard first hand the difference between this and that. All of those years of swapping out pedals will inform and shape what I eventually will do with my digital blank slate. Really appreciate the angle you chose to highlight the 'why' behind your rig! Blessings!

      Totally agree! I definitely struggled to use modelers effectively before going down the pedal rabbit hole. It’s a double edged sword.

    I am loving your demos and your channel! Keep up the great work, especially those sy-200 videos. You have been a huge inspiration to me. I have been stuck with gear sounds for months trying to find out what to do next. Midi... that is what!

    Really good video mate - great descriptions, audio and editing, the whole package. The detail on things like the Browne Fixer and flagging the MIDI issues with the M1 were really interesting.
    I happily disagree 100% with your conclusion: I have enjoyed collecting a bunch of nice pedals over the years and I like to swap them out depending on what other pedals / amps / guitars I’m using them with. The Morningstar stuff (MC6 and ML5 for me) means many of the advantages of in all-in-one QC/Helix-type rig whilst still being able to throw on, say, a Kingsley drive next to a Shanks ODS for one gig, or swap out the Future Factory for the UA Starlight, for example. The ability to get my fave tone-of-the-moment and then tweak an actual pedal on the fly during gigs is awesome - and my tiny mind couldn’t cope with all the 1000s of options in an all-in-one box anyway.
    So yes, it would be a money pit particularly if you’re recently starting out, and no, the audience probably can’t tell the difference between a Helix into the FOH versus a mic’d up Two Rock. But I don’t buy gear or spend many happy hours faffing around with boards for that reason; The hobby is all that stuff as well as the actual playing, for me anyway.
    Case in point, I got the H90 recently and realised that I had an MC6, ML5, CXM 1978 and Preamp MkII all in the cupboard (and for sale). I dug them out, put together a MIDI board and am now using it in stereo with two combos for small club gigs. I wouldn’t change it for a Helix, Fractal, QC etc (I do respect how amazing they are, though, and I have a UA Dream and a Diso+ for ampless emergencies!)
    Look forward to watching more of your videos.

    I recently add a Walrus Mira Optical Compressor with excellent results, its a really great compressor! I also highly recommend the Keeley HALO for the real Timmons sound of dual delays with dotted quarters alongside dotted eights... Axe-Fx recently nailed it. I totally agree with you on the future. Hopefully we can add an Axe-Fx III in the near future, meanwhile building boards is a ton of fun!

    I’m curious how you fit that to a bag/flight case, which pedalboard case you use. I got a temple board with lifts but couldn’t fit into my temple bag

    I can hardly stand editing my RV-500(to the point where I replaced it with a Collider for now), I can't imagine trying to mess with an all in one unit. That's just me though, obviously there are people who do it and do it well.

    Try the UA ruby if you want an amp sim with some breakup. Dope video!!

      Thanks!! I actually went one further and ran both the Ruby and Dream on a board. Made a video about it, but the audio is corrupted. And I’ve sold them both since unfortunately.

    Did you hear about the firmware update for the ACS1? It exactly addresses the gain issue. They listened to the users.

      I did, but I ended up selling it in favor of the UAFX. More so just to try them, rather than being unhappy with the ACS1.

I hope you can pass me the information

      @@RexGuitars Looking forward to THOSE demos. I got popular on youtube for the simple fact that I use a tube amp, when everyone else is using a modeler for the convenience of recording.

      @@GearSounds Dude calm down, you’ve got 500 subs. You aren’t “popular” on RUclips, and even if you were there’s no need to be coming into a comment section like this and being so condescending to a guy who is clearly just doing what he loves.

    • @GearSounds

      @@campbellpatterson8036 Dude calm down, you've got 61 subs. 10% of what I have. If you have made videos here you know how difficult it is to get 500 subs or a 30k view video. It is difficult. What I said was that it was made easy for me by simply doing one thing, micing up a tube amp. My suggestion would be helpful to a channel of any size, not that many listen.

  • @oscarordiano2112

    The guitar is annoyingly louder than your vocal commenting. Either please turn down the guit level compared to your voice, or ad a side chain to a compressed guitar signal. If you can do something about that issue, my opinion, you will have some decent content. Fair luck to you sir.

      I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the advice!

  • @GearSounds
    @GearSounds Год назад +3

    I am super disappointed that you won't be using your tube amp as that is the standard for guitar still. I know the digital modeling is getting really close but it is still 10 years away before it matches the feel of a tube amp as well as the sound.

    • @RexGuitars
      @RexGuitars  Год назад +3

      Tube amps are still the best, most definitely! The margins by which they're the best is getting smaller.

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds Год назад +1

      @@RexGuitars I disagree that the margin is getting smaller so fast as to use them for their convivence. The sound is about 70% of the way there and that is being VERY GENEROUS so why lose 30% over a little weight lifting? I hit the gym for good tone haha

    • @RexGuitars
      @RexGuitars  Год назад

      Get swole for that tone goal!! 😂 We’re probably gonna agree to disagree on the gap percentage. If I had my choice I’d take the tube amp 8 days a week. So really, we’re on the same side of the argument.

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds Год назад +1

      @@RexGuitars It is funny because in blind taste tests I have done better than even big youtubers when they do them. I guess my ears are cursed to hear the tiny differences. To me they are massively large so I get confused when people say two things sound the same. For me, I won't go digital till I CAN NOT TELL. We are years away from that.
