Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. It was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎
Nobody talking about how Nate is such a gentleman, his wife’s bike broke and without hesitation switched with her!! Ladies find yourselves a man like Nate
Right he makes coffee fur her every morning too 😭😪
I know right
Reality is if you try to be chivalrous these days you are just likely to get yelled at. Welcome to reality ladies.
Much respect to his parents.
The coffee every morning no matter where or how is what gets me. Such a great guy. She’s a lucky gal!
Kara and Nate in 2050: were going to space
Well said😃😃
That’s the plan 👽
@@KaraandNate hehehe🤣
I wouldn't be surprised haha
@@KaraandNate Have fun there! Have you already decided on which planets to visit?
As someone from Oklahoma... the amount of cowboys makes sense when you learn we have more cows than people living in the state. haha.
It's also been way too long since I've been to Pops!
As a born and Raised Okie, I’m glad y’all enjoyed your visit to Oklahoma! Y’all are welcome back anytime!
Same here. Born and raised here. Southern Okla. Infact you know that old merle haggard song. Yep! Have a good day fellow Okie
Yes!! Love that they went to Cattleman's!!! Hilarious they tried lamb fries!!! 😁
@@moe-moe6638 Cattleman's is way overrated!
@@staycool163 Cool. Thanks for your opinion. Don't know why you're telling me tho. Have a nice day. 👍
Same here!
Who remembers watching their first Kara and Nate video??? Was it recommended or did you just stumble across their channel? Either way, it's like they have always been apart of our lives now.. the best vloggers on RUclips hands down... On behalf of your 2+ million subscribers... Kara and Nate, we thankyou 👍💙
I first watched them when I searched about the capsule hotels, hooked ever since!
Mine was their Georgia - Azerbaijan border crossing video. that was 2 years ago and now I can't imagine youtube without them!
I randomly searched “Trip to Antarctica” and their blog appeared first. Been hooked since!
I think mine was when they first went to Thailand, but have re-watched so many during the last year and they just get better the more times u watch them all 👌
I believe I've gone through all the videos at least twice this year :)
Anyone else feel like they are traveling the country by watching these or is it just me
Ikr? I feel the same way!
🇺🇸❤️
Yes me! I feel the same wayy!
The flying cauldron is my boyfriend and I'd favorite soda!
Yes especially being stuck at home I'm living through these videos
I lived with my Grandmo and Papa off and on for most of my child hood. When who ever came to pick us up from our mother would cross the Oklahoma line I could smell Oklahoma. I don't know to this day at 73 years old what it was but Oklahoma has the freshest, cleanest and safest feeling and smells in the entire USA. My husband took us all home to Oklahoma one time (not his home but mine). I was sleeping soundly and we crossed the state line. I sat up and told him "we are in Oklahoma now". When we got to my Grandmo and Papa's house Grandmo asked him if I knew when we crossed the state line. He was shocked but said yes, she knew and told me where we were. Grandmo smiled and said "she has always known when we crossed into Oklahoma. I will always love Oklahoma.
I love that he brings her coffee every morning... wherever they are. ❤️
Nate is a pretty high bar when it comes to husband comparisons
A kiss 😘 and a cup of coffee ☕❣♥️♥️♥️ So much love between them ❣
Also might be self preservation. Get her coffee or fear the wrath of caffein deprivation in Kara 😝
Nate making coffee is the most relaxing thing ever
Someone should make a nate makes coffee compilation
bruh ik
I second that 🥰
YES!!!
“There were real life cowboys going in that restaurant”
had me laughing so hard. I was born and raised in Oklahoma, never lived anywhere else. I’m surrounded by “real life cowboys” 😂😂😂 thanks for showing off the great parts of my home state. Loved seeing your reactions ❤️
I laughed kinda hard there too! 😂
Okie check in! Love some cattleman’s breakfast! They should have driven around the corner to the cattle market!
Everybody in Oklahoma IS super friendly and generous! Well, most of them. Ive been here long enough to meet a few jackasses LOL. But overall Okies are good peeps.
Thank you
Tulsan here! Glad you got to see Gathering Place. It's much nicer in Spring/Summer though because of all the wildflowers. The Lodge is one of my favorite places to just exist--and the coffee is so good! What I've experienced in OK is that the smaller the town, the nicer the people. Glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Y’all must watch the bloopers, it’s worth it 😂😂😂
Kara : “She got us two pieces of PIE!!!!!”
44/14
This is amazing! I lived in OK for nearly a decade and this is bringing me so much nostalgia! I'm so glad to see a video where people are genuinely enjoying Oklahoma because a lot of times people don't give it a fair shake.
You two deserve all the bounty you receive! You're just so hard working, and you work smart these days, nobody wants to watch somebody work on their house and be stuck in one place- we're all doing that- we want to watch you keep exploring you are literally one of the only travel vloggers I truly watch anymore- you're so cool, you're so upbeat you're so in love, you're so fun!
They are not lying. Oklahoma is actually an amazing place, the state has so many lakes, rivers, national parks.
Yes!!
Come to Minnesota we have over 10,000 lakes even look it up it is true!! Lol
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but the butterscotch beer that Kara picked out is sold as Butterbeer from Harry Potter at the Harry Potter shop in Belgium. Hence the cauldron!
Yes! I was thinking about that too!
I was wondering if there was a link!
Same in London
Flying Cauldron is a popular brand, actually...goes amazing with a scoop of ice cream.
That probably goes for the H.P. pavillion at Universal Studios, too.
Bowl 66 in Chandler is seriously the best bowling alley. I love this episode, seeing you guys explore my state is awesome!
Fun fact: That chapel was built by my grandpas brother and I’ve gone there a lot during my childhood! I hope you loved it!
Cap
@@blake_b5209 it could be true someone had to build it
Kara when she realized the joke in "cocktail sauce." 😆
I’m a native Arizonan and I’m a Native American. The Potawatomi Indian Triable Headquarters is in Shawnee Oklahoma. People look at strange when I tell them I’m Potawatomi. Anyway, I hope you went through the Potawatomi reservation there south of Oklahoma City. I was raised on Route 66, in Williams, AZ. Beautiful small town in the ponderosa pines. Blessings and may the Lord be your co-pilot always...
My great grandparents lived in Shawnee--she made the best pickles.
I’m Potawatomi in Milwaukee, WI !!! We a big and proud here !!! Also, small but mighty band in Wabeno, WI as well !!!!
I grew up in Michigan where there is a strong Potawatomi influence!
Hello Citizen Potawatomi they drove through your nation on the way to Tulsa.
@@leanneadams2549 so good to hear!!! Do you go to general counsel meetings? They are so cool....
Thank you for showing the beautiful side of Oklahoma! As a transplant from California I remember when I first moved out here and would just drive around and look at the scenery and think how different it was from what I was use to, but I love it out here! The people are great upstanding folks that are willing to help other people in an instant!
Nate: "Now I just assume everyone in Oklahoma is super nice and friendly!"
New jersey: "We're screwed." 😳
Kara “I’ve never eaten gas station food, it didn’t seem safe.” “Here’s me eating random fried testicles, unknown street food, and sometimes bugs!” Lol
Yup!. I've been watching their vlogs for a while now, and the idea that there would be a concern about gas station food in the US struck me as hilarious...
@@GrumpyForester definitely I found it hilariously ironic!!
As an Oklahoman (who very much enjoys your channel!), I appreciate your appreciation of our state. Thank you!
Kara always wakes up later than Nate. I swear she does it on purpose only to get Nate to brew her coffee😂😂😂
He explained why he does it in the Valentines video he made in 2020
Very sneaky wife move 😂
So glad you enjoyed Oklahoma!! It has some great history and fun activities if you give it a chance. I have lived in Oklahoma for 34 years and we are still always taking road trips around Oklahoma ❤
As an Oklahoman that’s been to pretty much everywhere y’all went in the video, this makes me so happy! I’m glad y’all enjoyed our beautiful state!
Okie here too ❤️❤️❤️
Me too
"Kansas, Kansas, Kansas... NABRASKA!" You guys are your own hype squad! 😂 Love it!
k
I live in Oklahoma and I love when people actually see the beauty here
This makes me so happy to see!!!! I'm from Oklahoma and it warms my heart to see y'all explore!
One of my favorite things that Kara does is when she finds a stage or something that resembles a stage and starts singing. 😆
Kara & Nate making Oklahoma look way cool 😎
It definitely is cool
"If the van is rocking, don't come knocking..." 😆
The butterbeer drink is literally what they have in Harry Potter⚡️
Kara and Nate on 2022 : We slept here in Mars and wake up with a coffee🔥☕
@ju Yup, Kara is editing that video right now.
This is seriously the only RUclips channel I can sit and binge watch for hours. I treat it like a Netflix series, but your videos are so much better!!!!!!
I’m so excited that you highlighted the gathering Place it has been one of the most amazing projects for Tulsa we have four kids and we frequent there plus I’m a photographer so I love to go there all the time but my uncle was also in charge of all of the tree work before clearing the property enduring building the property so we are very proud I have this amazing park for Tulsa
As an Oklahoman myself I really enjoyed this video. But next time you come through Oklahoma again you should explore downtown OKC. There are cute shops, historic buildings and so many other places to explore. I love my state of Oklahoma!!! I also enjoy your videos they were my entertainment through the pandemic....Thank you from a fellow okie!!!!!
You did a great job of portraying Oklahoma in a good light!! People think we all live in huts and ride horses! You just scratched the surface of all the cool stuff Oklahoma has to offer! Y’all come back!!
Ps. Please don’t forget to support this awesome channel by completely watching the ads !! They’ve only a couple of minutes! I do !!!! 👍❤️
watching you videos is my favortie way to procrastinate homework
Thank you for highlighting Tulsa and The Gathering Place, there is a lot more to Oklahoma than just farmland and cowboys. The Gathering Place is worth traveling for and there are so many fun things to do in the city.
I love how they brought loads of soda and then they get into the van and Kara is like “we have a bottle opener right” could you imagine if Nate said no 😂😂
Is it just me, or do you just feel like your are there with them, when they record and go places! ❤️
The excitement of Kara when she got the desserts it’s life!!
What a great video - glad you enjoyed Oklahoma and the gathering place. I grew up in Oklahoma and this brought back a lot of great memories!
As someone who was born in Tulsa, watching you guys enjoy the city made me so happy!
Missed a perfect opportunity to say: "We're not in Kansas anymore"
As being from northeast Oklahoma I absolutely love it here and wouldn’t change a thing! Hope y’all come back again soon!
Oklahoma is so beautiful I love this state. I’m telling y’all there’s something so down home about it. It’s not the Midwest, and it ain’t the south (although we lean that way imo). It’s Oklahoma. Cowboy, cattle, & farm culture makes a lot of the state feel like the old west. God bless y’all
Your dessert story was just like our honeymoon! We went to a restaurant in South Carolina for lunch. We told the waitress about it being a honeymoon, and in her wonderfully deep South accent, she was like, "Awwww...your honeymoon? That is so sahweeet! Ahm gonna give y'all a free brownie!"
Best and most memorable brownie we ever had. All because of encounter and kindness.
*Nate hates Celery*
Soda bottle: I'm gonna change this man's whole opinion!! 😂
Lol
Awww how did I miss this.
I was part of the design team that worked on the landscape/hardscape for the visitor center shown at 0:59 :D
I love that Nate brings you coffee with a kiss every morning... That's true love right there even if it's not every day it's wonderful to see xx
As a born and raised Oklahoman, I’m so happy you had a great trip! So sad I missed y’all!
I agree. I was born in OKC. Oklahoma is an amazing place to live
Me to!!
Im an Okie too! e have some of the nicest folks here in our state.
@Stephen Dahlem YYYEEESSS!!!
Claremore oklahoma here 👌🏻
We live in a rv traveling the US. Oklahoma has by far been one of our favorite states! So cool seeing y’all go to the places I have been! You guys are the best
I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Oklahoma. Please come back anytime
I’m so glad you liked my home state. After 64 years, I would have a hard time living anywhere else. Everyone says the people are the reason they stay.
Nate’s reactions to trying the drinks was priceless
Nate! The very definition of Oklahoma is ...WINDY! It slows down, but never stops ... and, yes, I know whereof I speak - I lived there for a few years...
We need someone to go to every Kara and Nate video and count how many times Kara says "Umph, so good." 😂
Nates comment at 10:44 is literally the entire point of the Disney movie “Cars” (the first one)😂❤️
As a current resident of Oklahoma, I’m so glad you visited the Gathering Place and the Box Yard in downtown T-town! Thanks for showcasing the beauty of OK and showing people we’re not full of just a bunch of teepees😂😊
I'm so glad I found your channel and that you're traveling in a van. Love how much you enjoy your meals and snacks.
Y’all are just the best!!! The bloops were hysterical per usual and the whole video just put me in a great mood! How sweet for the lady to give y’all free pie at Cattleman’s🍰 Just a super cool trip over all! So fun to see parts of America I’ve never seen!! Happy trails y’all🚐
Stay you ✌🏼
I miss the international videos...but there’s something so wholesome about the two of you kinda roughing it in a van, traveling to places most wouldn’t ever put on their list. You two are some of the most inspirational people to ever walk this earth🙌
Sometimes I watch your videos I’m having a bad day and it totally changes everything!
My husband literally started making me coffee in the mornings cause of Nate. Y'all are making a true difference! ♥️
Changing mankind one cup at a time ....
So glad y'all made it to Oklahoma!!
I moved here just a few years ago, and fell in love with the place. I remember everyone (and even I) thinking I had well and truly lost my marbles. I mean, who willingly moves to a state known for its tornadoes? Except you get here, and the place draws you in!
I'm so glad you got to see a little piece of my state. If y'all ever do make it back this way and want a tour guide for OKC, please feel free to reach out. I'd love to show you both around a little more!
It feels so weird seeing you guys in Tulsa, my hometown, and go to places that I haven't even been before. You definitely make it seem way better than it is, from a growing up there point of view. I moved out of Oklahoma in 2017 and the gathering place wasn't there until after I left. I'm actually going up, I live in Dallas, Next month to see my parents, I might go check it out.
“Should’ve been a cowboy”...Y’all. Just making my day. 🤗🥰
The fact that my favorite RUclipsrs, were in my state, less than 5 minutes from MY HOUSE and I didn’t see or meet then blows my mind 😭😭❤️
At this point, Kara and Nate feel like family.
can we all agree that the morning coffee montages will never get old
Idk why but for some reason I got so excited that were visiting Oklahoma I actually live there and it is so great to like see you guys travel there and have so much fun! And when y’all went to all of those different places I was mind blow cause I live like 20 minutes away from there and I was like “ OMG IVE BEEN THERE 😱”!
As born as an Oklahoman, I’m so glad that you loved your trip, so sad I missed y’all!
Never have I ever wanted to go to Oklahoma but this video is changing that. That steak looked delicious and the soda store looked like a load of fun.
Yes definitely!! Cattleman’s steak is wonderful!! 🤤🤤 The only place I have not been is the Gathering Place in Tulsa. Pops is really fun and it is also a restaurant too. But the selection of pop is amazing! The last place they mentioned Great Salt Plains SP...you can dig for salt crystals (plan to get dirty) from April 1- Oct something.
We promise we don’t bite down here in Oklahoma! Some of us even have a little culture! Come visit!! ❤️❤️
I've been to everyplace they visited in Ok. It's a lot cooler than people think. The gathering place in Tulsa is LEGIT. When my son was 18 mo old, he'd play underneath the bigger kids. My mother has a knee replacement but she can still go down the 2 story slides with my son. They have elevators, steps or even ladders. you can spend all day there!
I run oklahoma haunted tour compamy thats pretty awesome!!! Even with covid very safe !!!
Come! I’m from Los Angeles Ca, and I love Tulsa. Its surprisingly really green and has gorgeous peaceful lakes. The pace is a bit slower but thats what I like. Its calm and you can actually take time to enjoy life here. The weather is PSYCHO 😬 but other than that..give it a visit
Kara and Nate : We live in a van and take it everywhere
SpaceX: We going to Mars
Kara and Nate : Hold my Celery Soda
I'm born and raised here in the great state of Oklahoma. I appreciate your content about Oklahoma, keeping it professional and factual.
Oklahoma is awesome! I've been all over the place -- Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico City, Vancouver, Toronto, Nassau, Jamaica, Miami, Chicago, LA, NYC, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, etc. -- and I feel fortunate to live in Oklahoma. The people are fantastic.
Kinda expecting Kara to break out singin'; "Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain."
When I was in the Marines I knew a couple people from Oklahoma and they were extremely kind, generous, and helpful.
Yay I'm so glad y'all were able to explore my home state! If you ever come back you for sure should come to downtown OKC!!
Ya'll come back now! Ya hear? THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO SEE AND DO. SO GLAD YOU WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE JUST A SMIDGE OF IT.
Why we travel?
Psychological need
Peace of mind
Taste different food
Many local people live there life for tourism business, they need us
Explore new and unknown
Don't you sleep? (about your name)
Yes.. But even in my dreams.. Love to repeat..😇
if we ever travel again... so happy for all of you tho!!!
I am an Okie born and raised in Oklahoma City. It was so cool of you guys to visit our little corner of the world! I saw that you drove through Chandler. My Grandparents had 160 Acres right outside of there that we would visit every Thanksgiving and Christmas and a whole bunch in between. They had cows and chickens and some great fishing holes. In my early years, we drove Route 66 between OKC and Chandler(passing by the round barn) hundreds of times. Thanks for passing through!
Born and raised in OKC we are salt of the earth type people... Real genuine hospitality...
“There were real life cowboys going in there….” I almost spit my water out from laughing. You two are too cute!
Hey Kara and Nate if you guys come to Hawaii I suggest going to all the islands. I live on the big island and each Island has a different landscape. It’s a unique experience
I hope they go in the summer so I can maybe get the chance to meet them on vacation. I would be so nervous to say hey because they’re so great. But I love Hawaii I know some of the Hawaiian natives do not like tourist but you guys are for sure living the best life. Hope everyone is healing over there heard cases were rising
Its funny how Kara and Nate have been to 100 countries but have never been to all the states in the USA.
@@jamiel264 The US is one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world. If you haven't done much traveling or sightseeing you definitely should.
I mean I'd rather visit somewhere like Tokyo than Oklahoma personally LOL
I’m an okie. For 54 years. Its a beautiful place with beautiful people.
I’m newer to your channel, maybe 6mos or so. I LOVE your videos and look forward to them each week! As a born a raised Tulsan, I was soooo giddy excited to stumble across this!
If you ever visit Oklahoma again, we have so many more hidden gems! I’ll happily be your tour guide! 😃
as a born and raised oklahoman, it is awesome that people like y’all come through and show a glimpse of our great state. it shows people we don’t actually ride horses everywhere and live in teepees anymore!! (and yes people actually think this)
I gotta back your comment up! My GF works for AT&T and talks to many people from all around the country and the world sometimes. That's what she's always asked tho. If she has to ride a horse to work still and how do we just get around on our horses and not buy a car or truck lol! Apparently they think we have Indian Tribes just out in the boonies that still use bow and arrow, and you gotta be careful traveling. I don't think it's crazy these days if you watch people asking actual college kids questions about our country and history. I know 5th graders who can't count money right now and didn't know the difference between a dime and quarter it's sad they can barely spell and speak to their phones to do what they need! I will say one thing tho I love our Governor and our state. We've managed to stay quite free compared to other states. We don't have to ask the govt permission and pay them to carry a pistol to protect ourselves and our families. I feel that shows the difference between which states would try and control their citizens and which ones give power back to The People and aren't afraid of their own citizens fighting them for their freedom cuz they wouldn't try to take it in the first place! Such a secretly great state to live in!
Things I’ve learned: If my future husband doesn’t kiss me on the cheek to wake me up with a hot cup of coffee in the morning..I don’t want it
Nate is a pretty high bar when it comes to husband comparisons
I have never lived in Oklahoma, but the people I have met from there did seem to be super friendly and generous, even when we beat them in a college football bowl game, a true test of character.
I have been to almost 40 states and Oklahomans our the kindest people you will ever meet! I have lived here for eight yrs now, and pops is a usual of mine!
Karas speech was everything hit me in the heart
When you come to Minnesota. You have to explore the north shore in Duluth!!!
And come to the bottom alot of farms lakes and more so happy for you guys to come here
Born and raised in Oklahoma! Happy ya'll made it through! Much love to you both!
When you go to Montana the college m trail is pretty cool it’s easy but fun.
