Hi Skip, could you please compare it to the Glazer on paddle power and steep waves performance? Do you think it overlapses too much with other firewire grovelers like the glazer, baked potato or double agent? Thanks and keep up!!!
Hi Bernat, sure. It's definitely overlaps with the grovelers at some point. For instance, I wouldn't use D2 on the swell that is worse than 2 ft 6 sec. On those days, I rather go on a mid length. Anything around and above 2 ft 8 sec will be healthy for D2 whether it's choppy or clean. That's how I judge based on my skills. It grovels amazingly. In weak waves you may need to put more work in but the pay off is sharper turns and stuff like that. It all depends on what you prefer. I'm currently looking for more performance these but I still balance it out with the mid lengths to improve the flow. When you are on the D2 there is not much time to chill, it's a high performance shortboard that wants to race and go radical LOL unlike the Glazer which would allow you to take you time, not a lot as it's still hybrid with performance. I only rode the original baked potato from your list. In weak waves, it will be easier to get on some waves but you will sacrifice the performance, the rails may bug here and there... I personally just think, newer models cover long range conditions these days as they pack it with a little bit more volume in the chest area. The Glazer is another breed. It's not a groveler at all. It loves clean waves and more size. It did work for me in small waves 2-3ft at 8 sec but every time you get to flats, it stops and you have to work really hard to get around unlike D2 which knifes through. Both Glazer and D2 handle steep waves well, D2 may have more advantage due to more rocker. The Glazer turns much softer/slower than D2, I would probably say more user friendly due to round tail. I need to pick the longer line to do the cutback vs D2 that can put on a reverse much quicker. It's also more versatile in terms of fin setups. Quads/Tri make big difference and adding more fun to it. Sorry for the long comment but I couldn't describe it any shorter. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hey Karl! Thanks for watching. I surfed them both. On that particular clip (just 1 wave) I was on 5'10" which I would prefer to use in bigger waves especially when the faces are pretty steep. The 5'8" nose usually drops down quickly and I find it much easier to surf from 1-4ft surf like generating speed and swinging around. Hope this helps! Cheers!

Hey Glen! You can go a little bit bigger in size. I’ve tried 5’10” on 3-5 ft day and I was fine on top of that, it allowed me comfortably to get into steeper waves. I didn’t notice a huge difference in terms of performance however when it comes down to smaller waves, I’d prefer to surf my 5’8” to generate speed quicker and have shorter reaction time. Hope this helps.
#Dominator2 It’s more versatile and oversurfs Seaside in any conditions . Since I got the Seaside and Beyond, I barely surfed the regular Seaside. It overlaps and outsurfs it way better with more fun! It’s a nice board to have in the quiver if you don’t have any other options. The surf board industry is progressing quickly and I love to experiment with the new models especially from #firewiresurfboards I’m always up for the boards that work in most conditions whether its 1 ft dreamer or 6 ft firing right handler 😁🤙🏼 Hope this helps!

The Seaside and Beyond is a fun board to do mellow turns here and there, some quick snaps on steep faces, foam climbs and floaters. Because it has a long rail line, it doesn't always fit in the pocket especially on small days. Hope this helps!
Hi Peace! Yes, I did. Works pretty good in fat or sloppy waves. Feels like a twin fin but with good control. The tail sometimes wiggles a bit in the white water after completing floaters. So far I like it. But for better conditions, I’d go with the full thruster setup! Hope this helps. Cheers!

I think i'm gonna start with a regular reactor quad set on it as I watched a interview with Dan Mann & he said he kinda designed it as a quad. Hi Skipper, I’m about to buy one of this board. I already have a mashup 5.7 31L. And a sci fi 2.0 5.8 29L. I’m looking for a board between this to board to be more like a daily shortboard. So I’m struggle between the dominator 2.0 5.8 30L and the flat earth 5.9 32L. Is the D2 is reactiv as the flat earth and really fun to surf ?
Hey Med! Thanks for watching. I would go with the Dominator 2 over Flat Earth. It's responsive, precise, grovels better than Flat Earth and fun to surf! But if you are looking for more twin fin vibe, then Flat Earth will be a good choice but I would probably target the 5'8" Flat Earth. It's got a good volume up front for good paddling. Cheers!

@@medphysio3746 I’ve never ridden Sci-Fi but everyone who I talked to said that it’s strictly a good wave board. I had 5’10” Flat Earth and those 33L felt a lot more for some reason. It felt like 34-35L board. If you are not really picky with the volume, meaning extra 1L wouldn’t hurt your turn than go with the 5’9”😁 it’s got a good rocker, so, you would want to surf it in 3ft+ waves (East Coast size). I was able to make it to work in smaller surf but had to pump a lot😂

Hey Ron! Thank you for watching. Our local surf shop got a few Fishbeards in stock and I almost bought it. However I changed my mind last second and passed it on. If this model had a higher volume range like the size 5'7" would be around 32-33L then I would definitely get it to actually ride it. I usually pick up the boards not just for review but to ride and enjoy it. But in case we had consistent waves 2-3 ft @9-10s then 5'7" 27.7L would be more useful out front. I could always go higher in size but I think with this particular model, you want to keep it short (ideally 5'6-5'7" for me). Cheers!

Since I have crappy waves most of the time and good swells hit us once or twice a month, I went with more volume. Is it me or is there a heap of twist on the board during the concrete drop section at about 3:20 ish?
how did you find the blackstix? I have the futures alpha 5 fin, which is speed generating as well, but the blackstix are even stiffer.
I've never used the blackstix. I like the FCS2 Performer and when it was clean Machado Thruster Set. The quad worked better in crappy surf!
