Ive been surfing Dominators solely for about 13 years. Nothing compares. Please never stop making them.
We won't! The Dominator II is one of our favorite everyday shortboards.
He makes that board look really fun! The dominator was actually my first firewire surfboard that introduced me to FireWire. I loved it so much and it helped my surfing so much. I can’t wait to try the new one in the new construction!
I bought this board a few months ago. I’m 51. Been surfing for 32 years. At 5’10 tall and about 173 lbs, the Dominator 2 at 5’10 and 33 liters is probably one of the best if not the best boards I’ve ever ridden. I’m using the twin plus trailer set up. This thing is magical
What 2+1 fins are you riding in the Dom 2?
Totally agree, anything under 5ft this board is so versatile
Been loving the Seaside in Helium and skipped over the Glazer due to the LFT construction - looks like the Dominator is what I've been waiting for! If it's as fun as the Chumleee was then Dan has nailed it again!
Was super surprised at how well this board goes in a huge range of conditions and it’s certainly go to short board now! Epic work Dan! 🤙
Thanks Steve, enjoyed that one
board looks insane... I want! I have the OG Dominator in the quiver and its always the classic go to. Cannnnnnot wait to get one of these...!
Can't wait to have you report back and tell us what you think. We're sure you'll like it.
I ride this in a 5'6 from 1-6ft. No need for any other board, it does it all. Quad when its small, thruster for bigger waves. The only other FireWire model that compared to this was the LSD Chubby chedda. Cant beat a good old squash tail!
Love the dominator I, can not wait to try this, looks sick! We want them all at our Procenter in Canary Islands
This board would go great over there. 🤙🏽
I got that board like 2 months ago, I got a demo board and it’s so fun
PU/PE boards loose there pop over time because the little beads of poly foam get damaged with flex, the extreme example of this is the poly foam they use in flower displays that is fun to crush.
EPS foam on the other hand when flexed or crushed generally returns to its original shape.
Is Kevin Shulz riding for Firewire, now? If so, he's a great addition to the team. Such a rad goofy-footer and air extraordinaire!
Nice work team 👍
Thank you!
Any chance I can get a 5’9 futures D2 to me before the end date of Feb in Oregon? None of my local shops are getting their next batch before I leave to Costa Rica 😠
I love your boards, I'm 240 I think, didn't look to see how much I weigh, but I ride 5'1 and 5'3 baked potato in 4 to 5 feet and it sick, I do alley oops with it... perfect, Would love to be a board tester or whatever.
Bought a glazer about 6 months ago, still trying to figure the damn thing out. That being said, I got it in the same construction and still don't even have a pressure ding. Love these boards
how does the Glazer do with its beefier rails?
@@wesleychapman9001 does alright, board feels really skatey. Had to put in cheapo fibreglass fins before I could really stabilize the damn thing. Fun as hell, just feel like I need a few days of consistent head high surf to figure it out fully.
@@HerbertFitzgerald I bet so especially with how short you can ride them. Looks like a rad board.
Looks like a really fun board... another "Mann Kine" I'll have to add to the collection 🤤
😀🤙🏽
Im just hoping for a rerun of Hellfire's or a Hellfire two, i have three i get them second-hand when i see them, but id really like new one again :D
We'll get back to you. 😉
Picked one up the other day
Which shop did you get it at? Come back and let us know how it goes for you. We think you'll be stoked.
What size dominator does Dan ride?
I found a used fst spitfire 2 months ago and fell in love with it. I was hoping Dan Mann would make a squash tail board and here it is!
How would this board feel different from the spitfire? Is there any difference in where the wide point is located? Looks so good!
Yes, the wide point is slightly more forward in a Dominator II. The foil is also redone to make to more predictable in turns than the Spitifire. Dan calls this his favorite all-round board he's ever made.
@@firewiresurfboards sounds perfect! Thanks. Spitfire has so much "push" drive from the tail of the board. Sometimes I want a tad more "pull" drive from the middle and front of the board. I don't know what the right term is but boards with the wide point really forward feel like they pull you in and out of your turns. But then the wideness gets in the way when you want to go vertical. Not a problem on the spitfire. Dominator 2.0 looks like the perfect board.
Agreed. I was a big fan of the chumlee but that tail I never quite liked. This board looks the definition of a great hydrid.
Love that #smith is supporting you! How will some of this tech and design influence future XL guns?
how is the front rocker for this board? Will it handle steep drops?
Yes. The tail rocker is optimized to grovel well with enough rocker in the nose to stay out of the way during steep drops and tight turns.
Spitfire 2.0 Swallow Tail in LFT please ! Dominator 2.0 in LFT Please.
We'll see. 😉
I have a 5’7” twice baked. A 5’8” Seaside.
Love both of them so much. Seaside is my fave.
That said, where would a dominator 2.0 fit in with those boards? What differentiates it enough to justify the $820 (besides the fact it looks so freaking rad, of course)?
And if justifiable, could this be my thruster board?
Thanks for the feedback!
I'm in love with my seaside as well. For me the D2 would be for punchier and/or bigger waves. I may get one to replace the 5'8 almond butter that I regrettably sold : /
What fins does Dan have on his Quad? Looks like a fun board? Would his 5 fin set-up work well on this board?
Kevin has been riding this with the KH set from FCS (seen in this video) as well as the FCS Performer set, and Dan Mann's new template with FCS called the 'FW Shaper Series". He's had all three on rotation, we'll report back what his favorite is.
@@firewiresurfboards did you ever get feedback on the fins?
Must be thinking of the "integrity" of the construction holding up under use!
Take Two/Action
*Tech*
You buy a white board but in 6 month you 've a yellow boards.
Gives you a reason to buy another one. Haha! Looks like a sick board tho
Don’t leave it in the sun😂 I’ve had these last 3 years and I live in a hot climate
Will it go for old guys a little longer?! Like is a 5’10 gonna feel huge?
No. Dan Mann designed this shape to be ridden across a variety of sizes for any single surfer. If you go 5'10 or even 5'11 or 6'0, it won't feel huge. Don't be shy about erring on the high side of your volume range.
I want to by the spitfire. For 1-5 fit
Bur d2 look good too...i have money for one.i like the spitfire .....
But this board look sicckkk.if o have pu 34liter. If i take helium 33?32? answer please
Get the 5'11 at 33.9 Liters. :)
@@firewiresurfboards thx.
Won't work for me if I want to surf Mavericks. That's just unbelievable!
Trying the performers wasnt' sure what fins to use
You'll probably like those. They're a good well rounded template. The fin template that Dan Mann designed for the Dominator II is the 'FW Shaper Series Template". It falls in the same family of all around fin as the Performer fin.
Would this be too similar to my Hydroshort? I also have the hydronaught, Evo, Cymatic, spitfire, chumlee
I think you are covered
,🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
and a SLAB ;-)
@@gregschexnayder5630 you would be a lot cooler if you had the slab 2.0
@@dubbs1923 LOL I know! I really gotta stop myself!!
This thing looks sick! How is it compared to the hydroshort or the frk
Both the hydro short and Frk are not grovelers. They both are better in punchy head high to over head waves. Have more rocker and have more of a standard shirt board bottom. Single concave with some slight double or v out the tail. This is a groveler that you can ride in some head high conditions.
@@mauricegourmet Extremely on point. Except you can probably push the Dominator II in waves up to six foot.
@@firewiresurfboards thanks. Love Firewire. Been talking with PESCE Jr about your boards way back when he worked at HSS. Big fan. Keep up the work! Once my Achilles year heels I’ll be on a dominator 2!
where's the Activator 2.0?
Hrmmmm..... Good idea, we'll see what we can do down the road.
@@firewiresurfboardswould be sick! broke mine in half and unable to find a replacement. Loved that board!
want want want want!
want, need...
Which quad set up does Kevin use? Thruster is KA...
Yes, he likes the KA thruster and the Fanning thruster. But Quad wise, he usually rides the Dan Mann Firewire set from FCS.
That's just crazy how it's 1 lbs density of the EPS and it doesn't give way under heavy, dirty landings...
Sell them all on Amazon and I'll buy one of everything with their insurance! 🤣🤣
I have a heavy back foot from time to time.
😂 Only available at surf shops. Nothing on Amazon.
Looks nice, but why is it so wide? The 5’9’’ is over 20 inch wide?
Wide is good :) More planing surface = more speed and stability.
Leash plug looks high on the board...or is that just me?
I think a little narrower and a little longer would ride more bitchin blast-off styley.
Try the FRK. 😀
White nioz aren't bitchin
@@tezf6883 correct, but White Noiz is a bitchin board model.
🤮🤙🏾
