  • What's up guys! In this episode, I'm reconnecting with my ex-surfboard Firewire Dominator 2.0 that I already reviewed two years ago. I took a long break from surfing high performance shortboards and got more into alternative crafts. Now, I'm stoked to try it again and maybe surf it better.

    Enjoy!
    My Height: 5’9” or 175.3 cm

    What is ur top five board. I’m looking for shortboard that’s gonna catch lots of waves. Small to overhead. Catches fatty waves. I currently use 5’10” retro fish. Luv it

    I’ve heard great things about the Dominator 2 from many mates, you surfed it well 👍

    Hey I’m looking at getting the dominator 2. I’m currently own the seaside 5’11 at 41 litres. My height is 182 cm and I was 97 kgs (213 lbs). Is the dominator 6’6 going to be too large for me? Or should I be going for the 6’4 size? Cheers

      It depends on your skills. If you’re better than beginner and can pop up quick, also you definitely need to stay focus.

    Do you still surf the CI mid twin? Such a great all around mid length

      @SkipperSurfReview  9 месяцев назад

      No, I don't. I thinned out my quiver this year. It is a great all around mid length.

    What do you think of Helium construction for feel and durability? I'm on the fence on a board built in Helium and Thunderbolt Red. Never ridden Helium. Red has a great feel but similarity durability to regular glass. Thoughts?

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  9 месяцев назад

      Helium is basically a cheap plastic shell wrapped around cheap foam. It does break when there are certain circumstances . I’ve seen Helium Seaside to break in half when it hit the pylon. It does have a nice resistance from dings but only rails and top. The bottom has a very thin layer of glass. It gets dinged up easily. It’s very responsive but I personally don’t like the feel. I still prefer to ride PU boards. It feels natural. Hope this helps!

      @@SkipperSurfReview : Also love PU. The flex is what I can't live without. Ever try Thunderbolt Red?

      @@Bimp_Lizkit yes, that one is pretty stiff. I don’t like it too much.

    Should i get dominator 2 or mashup, for surfing similar conditions as you? With occasional 5 feet. Which do you like more? In terms of ease, glide, turn and fun.

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  2 месяца назад +1

      I would say Mashup.. It makes surfing more fun! D2 is more about performance and has less room for mistakes. Hope this helps!

    I have a 12 year old Dominator in the original FST tech that I ride exclusively as a quad. It is my go to grovel small wave board. It still goes great. I am 5’10” 175 pounds. I ride the 5’8” which is around 30 liters. I will probably replace it with a Dominator 2.0 in helium. I ride mostly trestles and salt creek.

    Get Noel Salas quad setup you won’t regret it 🤙

    Доска явно не для этой кондиции, сложно дать ей оценку в таких условиях, да и размер ее, похоже, маловат ..

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  9 месяцев назад +1

      ну в таких условиях, любимая другая доска не дала бы много преимущества. Закрывашки одни были. Спасибо за просмотр!

      Доска сама по себе хорошая, катался на ее деревянной версии на Мальдивах и был доволен как слон😊
      Успехов!
