Monstera adansonii care and propagation (variegated)

- In this video I share with you the full care of the monstera adansonii in a tropical climate setting. This is a very easy to grow houseplant with beautiful foliage that looks never the same. They do require a lot of light and very little water to survive. To thrive, they need a moss pole. I propagate my variegated adansonii (the non-variegated plant propagate the same exact way!). Watch and find out how many cuttings I didn’t kill :) I also show you the variegation details on this plant to illustrate how stunning and random they are. I also show you a tutorial on how to make a temporary moss pole that will be so beneficial for young epiphytic aroids!

Everything grows better outdoors Or in greenhouse the real challenge is getting plants to grow indoors
The challenge is wintertime… but in normal tropical condition, I feel its the same indoor and out. In fact I had better control of plant care indoors. It depends on the person too.
Verdade a única planta que ficar bem dentro de casa sem problema é a Zamioculca .
your peaceful attitude is contagious. some people are so afraid to trim their plants, this is wonderful!
Hehe ive learnt that plants love to be trimmed. The mother plant will push out multiple vines like a medusa.
From you I've learned when to propogate in water vs. moss vs. soil. So far I have 100% success. Thank you Sean 🙏
Your enthusiasm is contagious. I love all the beautiful pots you have. I’m very excited about a new monstera adansonii I got from a neighbor, thank you so much for this information :D
One can never have too many plants!! “Very cute” 😂
What a great idea this mini starter pole and "go with your heart" approach!☺
“Propagators” is a word! We use it in quantum physics to describe particles moving through the vacuum! 💫😇💫
Omg what a nerd 🤓 high five 🙌🏻
Sean, you're so thorough, always love the content you put out. Ty
Thank youuu ❤️
Great content as usual. Thank you. Loved your healthy plants.
I just got my Adansonii this week. Perfect timing Sean !
Another excellent video. You have the MOST informative videos that I have found. Thank you so much. And I agree, These are SUPER fast growers. Mine has grown ~1’ in a month!
Omg! This is heaven! You have very healthy and beautiful plant collections..I love monstera adansonii!!! 💚💕🌱🪴🌸
It is great that you show all the different steps of the propagation process!
😀😀
Wow I love the version variegated so beautiful!
Thanks, Sean, for sharing how to do diy moss pole!
I swear my heart slowed as you cut lower and lower. My brain knows it will bounce back well, but my heart still hurt! Beautiful!!!
I kept shouting "stop" but he won't hear me.🤭
This was a great video. Your enthusiasm is contagious 🥰
Your in Bali, with its beautiful warm climate. I'm in Melbourne Australia... 👍❤🪴🇦🇺😊
Not far at all! 😀

🥰🥰
So glad I found your channel awhile back. I love your videos and how much you have pride in your plants!
Also, thank you for showing how to make the smaller moss poles. I need to find a video on making a large one as well.
I really liked the „intro“ where you see some short footage of the video :)
Thanks Tommy 😀
Thanks for sharing your vedio beautiful plants I love all of them watching from California
I immediately start propagating my adansonii while watching Sean do his. ❤😂🎉🎉🎉
Good luck 😀😀
My adansonii succumbed to a fungal infection and I'm motivated to try again with a new healthy adansonii after watching your beautiful plants!!
Try wet stick propagation if you have those bare stem with nodes 😀
Beautiful variegation. Enjoyed the video. Thx
I recently got one like this...they called it a mint, some are also calling it Indonesian marble! What I learnt from researching this plant is that the varigation is stable unlike the albo and tricolour varieties.
Yes my albo one reverted and I lost it despite propagating it multiple times
Love your practical advise on plants.
I'll try propagating my monstera hope it will be success
🤗 Always a pleasure to watch and learn💚
🤓
Omg Sean I came home with a new plant today and what are the odds, it’s a monstera adansonii (not verigated but I love it). How cool was it that your video came out the same day, I’m so blessed to have this as a guild. And yes, I had a naughty leaf growing through another leaf. I will make a moss pole and hopefully it will grow to have large leaves. Thank you again, I so appreciate you.
Yayeee
I bought adansonii couple weeks ago from California tropicals and very happy of what I got it’s beautiful thx for the vid this will guide me 👍
@@onlyplants 🙂
That looks so beautiful monstera adansonii variegated.
I love that you gave us update on your propagated plants instead of cutting the video up to actual propagation. 😁 Happy planting!!!!
Thank youu
They are so beautiful!
Great video 😊 I want a variegated one so bad!!! I just got my first lil baby a few months ago and I propegated and had some sticks and just threw them into the water with the cuttings and they started to grow shoots so I planted them 🤷♀️ they are huge already and I wasn't even sure it would work LOL I LOVE it!!!!!!
They are so very resilient actually. Their biggest enemy is overwatering but they can take a wide variety of conditions!
Have just bought an Adansonii last week. Really needed this video!
Another great video Sean, you’re smashing this!
Thank youuu good luck with your adansonii! They are such cool companions
@@onlyplants thank youu! I’m sure it’ll do great after following your precious tips!

Very informative ... a proof of high success survival rate the way you did the propagation in organic way👍 I will prepare my Adansonii for air layering before pruning. thank you very much👍
Sean, dude,....you are the propogation whisperer!!! You must think about sharing with all of us in the US. We don't have clear access to these beauties. Love your videos and instruction. Nice work.
Whoaaa propagation whisperer I like the sound of that!

take a drink everytime Sean said very very variegated.
I passed out after the 5 min mark 😂
I can’t wait to buy my home with large windows so I can collect more house plants these plants are beautiful and I want jewel orchards as well
Hello! Thank you for the great idea for the temporary moss pole! I have a small variegated arrowhead plant that I wast to put on a pole but she's way too small for a regular size pole.
Yours look so happy!
I think Monstera Adansoni has really strong vitality. Even if you plant plastic yogurt bottles or small pot soil, they breed well. Thank you for the precious video.
😀😀
I'm so glad you mentioned that they can turn yellow in water propogation. Mine immediately turned yellow and I've been so worried about it. But it's already growing a new growth
Ooo yeah most people throw away their yellowing cutting but the node is the most important thing
I’ve been watching, enjoying and learning so much from your videos. On my way to stake my monstera adansonii. Subscribing from Barbados
Thank youu. Whoaa Barbados!
❤❤❤ ty for sharing and the humor!

Took your advice, gave my adansonii a moss pole, it’s now giving very large/massive leaves and growing much fast. Thank you so much
Yayeee
Amg ganda ng adansoni
Какая красота !
Tanaman mewah, cantiknya luar biasa, saya hanya punya yang hiaju , berharap suatu hari nanti saya punya yang varigata.🤩🤩🤩🤩
You are such a good plant daddy!
🤓
You're so brave....cut...cut...cut..😱 hi Sean!🤣
I have to be brave for you 😅
@@onlyplants hahahaha omg this is why youre my favorite plantyoutuber!
I might start propagating on my yakult bottles so cute!!
🥰Another great video👍.
One of my favorites! I got a 'mint' varigated. I'm looking for an albo adansonii. I found with my aeroid mix I can't overwater them. It's not overwatering that's the problem, It's the compact soil people use. I use a mix without soil, just bark, perlite, sand, coco chips, etc.
Those look so good and healthy. I thought they could grow in low light like my monstera deliciosia is doing just fine. but I will try introducing it to more light now.
Ooo they need more light than the deliciosa. Because they have very few surface area on the leaf for photosynthesis due to the holes
that variegated Adansonii could pay for a house downpayment Lol
