    I got my first Monstera Adonsonii today. Had an awful experience, the plant that got delivered is a fragile looking single stem one, with just 3 leaves . I’m just praying it survives. Your adansoni plants are so healthy and beautiful, touchwood.

      Hello Ruchika, Oh I am very sorry to hear about your experience! I hope you have luck getting your plant acclimated into its new environment. Great tutorial. I adore the MM. Adansonii. Really good to know about the Uppotting every year. Maybe a little bit scary after several years. LOL Might end up growing in a large garbage can. Well lets hope. I had a narrow leaf cutting I babied along and managed to get a few small rooted cuttings to make the plant larger. Then lucked into two clearance pots at my not so local grocery sale on half price. I put them all together but maybe thinking now I should have used a larger pot. I was combining three 4 inch planted pots into a 6 by 9 pot which is actually an oval dollar store small trash can. Lots of new leaves and just a few yellow bottom leaves I believe from the transplanting. Saving your video to refer back to for care tips.

      @plantluxxe  2 месяца назад

      Hello! Thank you for commenting and watching🌿💚 I use Jack’s because my local nursery uses it to fertilize their plants. Every year I went there I noticed how gigantic the flowers and leaves were, so I asked them what they used. 💚🌿 I use a few other things besides Jack’s that I think help too. Hope this helps. Also, I used miracle grow in the beginning of my plant journey because it is an even mix and retains water very well for most specialties of plants. 🪴 I’d you over water though, have poor/unfavorable lighting, etc it’s not a great choice.😂 it’ll attract those pesty gnats with over watering😂

    Very helpful! I got a couple cuttings last year from the tips of one growing in a clothing store. The leaves were tiny, tiny and I was sure it would die but after about 9 months now, I’ve taken a second round of cuttings, water propagated them and have a nice 5” pot full of rooted vines that are growing at an alarming rate (a new leaf a day). Mine is still immature and the fenestrations are nonexistent for many leaves but I now believe I have a miniature version of narrow form. The largest leaf on the mother plant is 1/4 size of an average narrow form leaf. Compared to yours, my leaves are 10% the size. Lol!
    I’m creating miniature moss poles this week. I wish I could explain how magical the leaves look... like someone imbedded them with glitter and velvet. They reflect light in the most beautiful way. Watching the fenestrations come as they mature is fascinating as well... SUCH a rewarding plant.

I have questions 1) I have few adansoniis, the new leaves are way smaller and paler, 2) my two totems are very temperamental, when I water them the lower leaves turn yellow, if I wait till the first few inches of the soil to dry out, some of the leaves will have crispy edges!! Her Monstera is so big! And bushy. I love it. I saw another woman and hers almost touched her ceiling. I bought my monstera Andsonii in August and it seems to be doing well. I accidentally moved it into the sun a bit and a leaf grew out deformed and burnt (half the leaf was crispy and black lol) It's slowed down now that it's Dec. Anyways it's lost 3 leafs but I heard it's normal for some plants to do that. I never knew they needed to be re-potted every year. Mine only has 6 leaves (but another is already coming out), so it's still immature....I'm dying to propagate it but I dont know, when I can do that. When is a good time to start cutting a Monstera adansonii to make it more bushy? Should I wait a year?

      Hi Melissa! I cut mine several times a year… it started small but then over time grew so much. My very first one ever, I killed by overwatering it. I can create an updated video about this plant and post a updated video. I have grown so many big ones since this video was published and have a lot more advice that I have leaned over the years. Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🌿❤️ stay tuned for a need release soon!

      Hi Cheryl!
      My home isn't at 90% humidity, Haha! In the video, I said they like it at that but "we don't live in terrariums or nurseries," Haha! I have a few humidifiers around my home near the plants in order to keep the humidity up. It sends to work. My fiddle leaf figs are doing ok, so that's usually a dead give away! I fill the humidifiers up every day in the AM.... sometimes ai must my plants. Though, not often because the humidifiers do the trick. I hope to do a video on humidifiers soon. They are gorgeous. Ive just started growing plants and I bought one of these but it only has 4 cutting coming out of the pot. Its about 6 weeks old and has grown probably 2 feet! I made a round totem and im just wraping around it so the leaves are evenly full around the totem. Question, is it ok that im cossing over other stems/vines? Will it choke eachother out or is this ok? I now know that I need way more cutting in one pot to start out to get a FULL look. Also, can I add new cutting to a 5 week old plant? Thank you!

    • @kourtneys.plant.korner765
      @kourtneys.plant.korner765 4 года назад

      That is true. That is the same reason for the fenestrations in a Monstera d. It also helps with water being able to come into contact with its roots.
      Since the plant is semi-epephytic the water is able to hit the roots that are attached to whatever it is climbing.
      These plants are also get root rot easily, so potting in a terra cotta pot is more commonly recommend. Also be careful with a peat based mix. With a large plant the peat will break down much faster needing to be repotted more. And it also does not have very good drainage so it can collect water in the soil causing root rot.
      This is just what I have learnt from school and experience so take it with a grain of salt.

    Thank you for the informative video on growing Monstera Adansonii & how to pronounce it! I have a question. How do you water your house plants without getting those nasty fungus gnats that are all over my studio apartment? They are driving me crazy. I usually water from the base of the plant in the saucer, because I understand they hang out in the top 2 inches of the soil. It's helpful, but I'm not sure my plants are getting all they need. Christa, help please! Thank you

    • @plantluxxe
      @plantluxxe  3 года назад +1

      Hello! I must have missed this message somehow! Very sorry about that!
      Fungus gnats are the pits
      Try these ideas: diatomaceous earth I think I spelled that correctly 🤣😂
      Mosquito bits
      Mosquito traps
      Bowls or cups of old wine or beer or fresh if you don’t have any old ones
      Don’t over water , they are really hard to get rid of !
      I had a huge infestation in my dracaena one time and I just stopped watering it and I used a peroxide mix to kill them. They eventually died.
      Real cinnamon works too but it has to be real.
      Hope this helps!🪴🌿💕

    Where exactly from the point of cut will these plants start to push out babies? From my cut or from the nearest node? Same with deliciosa?

    • @plantluxxe
      @plantluxxe  2 года назад

      Hi! Cut under the node…the mode is where all the roots will form. When in doubt, wrap moist Sphagnum around the aerial roots and put Saran Wrap around that. It’ll grow more roots…cut, stick in soil. You don’t need to do this though because the root is already there

      @@plantluxxe so if I want to make more stems on the plant itself. Such as multiple nodes on delisiosa for the momma plant and not to propagate, how do I do this? I would lie to make my mother delisiosas fuller with multiple leaves coming from each stem. I have seen some with multiple nodes about an inch from each other on the stems. This is my goal but where do they grow from if I cut the leaves off above the nodes? Will this create multiple nodes or am I better off cutting below and propagating the cuts? I hope this wasn't confusing. I want to make each stem off of the main stem to have lots of leaves coming forth from them to create a full and bushy plant

      Hello!
      The leaves tend to be kind of wrinkly... I have several of these type of plant and they are near a humidifier, so that helps keep them healthy looking. I use neem oil treatment to keep them pest free. That makes the leaves shiny. Also, when you fertilize, be sure to dilute it because they respond poorly and turn yellow and die if you use too much. This, I learned the hard way when I was a new plant mom! Thanks for watching my videos!💚🌿😊🙏
