Almost every one of Coheed's albums form an interconnected sci-fi story that Claudio came up with that he calls The Amory Wars, this is the title track from their 2nd album which acts as the 3rd part of the story
The "woah woah woah" part is one of the best experiences live. You WILL get goosebumps if you're there. This recording did not do justice how overwhelmingly powerful the crowd is during that part.
I'm so happy to see more and more people get exposed to my favorite band. Even if you know nothing about the story they're so sonically pleasing. This band rules so much.
dated a girl in college who was a Coheed superfan, knew all the lore/comics, and had the Heaven's Fence on her back, and this was by far her favorite song.
I remember seeing this live and having Claudio walk away from the mic to let the crowd sing it back to him such a great live experience can’t wait to see them again
I’ve seen them live twice. Just reading these comments of other people’s experiences give me goosebumps. The chanting/singing they get the crowd to participate in is just an experience that words cannot describe. Magical.
For reference: a “jackhammer” is a turret/cannon that in the comic they’re flying into a planet and attacking with. It’s a tremendously interesting world Claudio (lead singer) has built In the comic. What I feel it attempted to show here, is that at their concert, every person there are chanting these chorus sections. It’s absolutely an experience. A lot of their songs have these batttle-cry type sections.
A friend of mine back in the early 2000's recommend I check out Coheed And Cambria. So I bought this Cd I was hooked from the get go. They were so original in an era where everything was sounding the same to me. I continue to buy their albums and listen to them almost more than any other band. They are great live.
I love how you're discovering more and more C&C.... you're in for a ride my friend! I'm seeing them later this month in DC and am so freaking pumped! Such an amazing band, check out more of their stuff, you won't be disappointed!
Claudios voice and vocal range is incredible. They just dropped a new album!!! And he also did an incredible acoustic cover of "Hello" by Adele. Highly recommend
My wife got us tickets for my birthday. i watched them for the first time in july. Just saying, chanting with the crowd LIVE was a dream come true. C&C truly are amazing!
The entirety of the Starland Ballroom set is a masterclass of live performance. The raw, frenetic energy is palpable. It is Coheed in absolutely peak form. Wild, yet still in complete control of themselves and of the entire room. I owned the live CD from that show (it was the first physical Coheed CD I owned), and I still watch the entire set from time to time. Amazing.
I first saw them when i was 15 in my hometown in front of 40 people on their first tour. I've been a fan ever since. Not only because of their music but also because it was the first time I saw someone that looked just like me singing in a band. I'm speaking of Claudio being Puerto Rican. They will always be my number 1.
One of my favorite artists I've been listening to since 5th grade! I wanted to see them on tour this year but they're not playing anywhere close by. Also props to whoever suggested this song, such a beautiful piece of music.
Having seen them live front row last year, their music has completely changed for me and this song being my favorite as well as the opening song they sang causes me to have goosebumps all over whenever I hear it.
This song live is an experience. My husband introduced me to coheed 12 years ago and I saw them live for the first time last month in Dallas. Unbelievable!
Coheed are one of those bands that were a little too different and a little too good technically very honestly for the time that they came out in. Great band, really killer live band
This is one of my top, favorite bands. I love them! This album was my first experience to them, and they've released plenty of great stuff since. I currently listen to Vaxis on repeat, and I'm patiently awaiting their next album. Their albums are based on a sci-fi story which they've gone on to release graphic novels based on. The more you listen, the more you start to understand the story, which is pretty freaking tragic and dark. It is epic and amazing.
All of their albums, except one, are based on a Star Wars-esq story centered on the Kilgannons, with Coheed & Cambria at the head(s). The lyrics of this song are about the first time Coheed’s brother Jesse meets a guy named Mayo Deftinwolf, who is the second to Wilhelm Ryan, who is trying to take over their solar system(The Fence which is held together by The Keywork). Everything Evil would be an awesome song to do next. It’s from the first album they released. The songs you’ve heard so far are from their 2nd, 3rd, and latest(10th).
I mean, yes and no considering Coheed and Cambria are killed off halfway through the first album. Theyre actually only a part of Second Stage Turbine Blade amd Year of The Black Rainbow
@@Posirep I’m not gonna claim to know everything about the story, but to quibble with my choice to use centered, and not, perhaps featuring, is peak internet. Mr Boyd was completely lost about what was happening in the song, I was just trying to give him the basics. What I do know is, SSTB is their first album as Co&Ca, but in terms of the story, it’s, let’s call it part 2. With Black Rainbow(which I’ve never heard) as the first. So just because the whole story isn’t about them, they play a crucial role in its beginning. Can we at least agree about that?

Coheed and Cambria are great! :) Have seen them a few times, one of them I recall the crowd pushing towards the stage with such a force that I (at 250 lbs) was lifted up off the ground and carried a few feet away. It was the most bizarre feeling, because I don't think anyone ever has lifted me up. I would be afraid of breaking them. Hahaha
Not really related to this video and only slightly to your comment but I was around 130-135lbs as a teenager but picked up my 250 lb friend on my shoulders a couple times. I'd bend down and have him lean over on them then stand up but it's not undoable
I had to put my hands on the backs of people and my elbows on the front of others to keep my sister from being crushed by the crowd, while she stood in front of me. If I hadn't thought fast it could've been tough.
@@mindsurfer101101 That happened at a punk concert. Front row in front of a stage barely a foot off the ground and I had to use my foot to hold back a crowd crush that was going to spill into the band.
This song never fails to make me emotional. One of the happiest nights of my life was the first and only time I've seen them live this past July on the Vaxis 2 tour. I've been a fan since IKSoSE3 but have never had the chance to see them. I went with my fiancé and one of our good friends. This song was an experience all on it's own. The energy in the building was off the charts!
If even on your own time, you need to watch a version of this where it is indoors. It is so much different having the acoustics with a ceiling versus an outdoor venue. Having seen them five times, I would choose in indoor venue every time.
Fully accurate as always there is some previous knowledge and others here have commented upon and the way they stretch those live performances is just an absolute fantastic feeling as a fan in the crowd knowing that you're getting a unique performance
The Crowing or Feathers is my favorite tracks by this absolutely legendary band. It leaves you emotionally drained almost with the highs and lows it takes you through.
I tried so hard to see them live. Even went to a concert but had to leave before they played. Crowds got the better of me. Well I can always catch them on RUclips!
The live recordings are fantastic but now I'd love for you to hear the studio track and how crazy amazingly it was produced and how well they've translated it for live audiences. I've been a huge C&C fan for two decades now and man, they just still keep cranking out amazing music. Some bands peak early and as they age, the later albums aren't...hmm... as well received? Not the case with C&C. One of the more recent albums Unheavenly Creatures is INSANELY good. Just... Yeah. Insane. ❤️
This is my favorite band. There are so many great audience interactions with this song. You have to jump deep into their lore to know what they are talking about as all their songs are based on a comic the lead singer writes.
You hit the nail on the head with your dystopian remark. It all follows Claudio's graphic novels about a couple named Coheed and Cambria and the impending death of their planet.

The very name Coheed and Cambria are the names of the Husband and wife duo of main characters in the series of novels known as the Amory Wars written by the singer Claudio. Each album is literally the soundtrack of each volume. In keeping secrets of silent earth 3 being the third installment of the series. Thus the great variance in sounds of each track and each album. Not only very much worth the listen, they are all very much worth the read!
welcome back to ‘The Fence’ 🤘🏻🔥🍻 newest album is worth a listen….hell, all albums are worth a listen lol. just pull up their Wiki & start at the beginning. we need to get this man to a live show! I’m goin to the July 19th show in ATL (VIP Mage tix 😎) Amory Wars is the sci-fi graphic novels that Claudio came up with & accompanies the songs for different characters & story arcs
Honestly I can't listen to "The Black Rainbow, The Afterman lp's and The Color Before the Sun. Just not to my taste as to how Coheed sounds in my heart. The Vaxis albums are a great return to the Amory War story. I've seen them twice in Toronto and they always sounded amazingly clear in a smaller venue.
@@billpemberton3982 yep, seeing them in ATL in a few weeks for my 6th live show 🤘🏻🔥🍻 seen them 3 times at the Filmore in Charlotte, easily best venue I’ve seen them (smaller & I had vip all times)
I listened to the band for 10 years before I ever read the graphic novels that accompany their first 4 albums. The story actually gives SO much context that so many of the songs have a different context when you really know what they're talking about. It's wild but I recommend it. Time Consumer from Second Stage Turbine Blade actually blew my mind out of the back of this dimension when I realized what he's actually saying in the chorus. Coheed has such an ardent cult following for a reason. If you follow down the rabbit hole even a little you can't help but become one among the fence.
Also the stage mics didn't pick it up very well but I've been to a few of their live performances and I can guarantee you almost everyone in the crowd was singing their soul out during the gaps in Claudio's vocals. It's such a great experience when you're there.
The Guitar Center Session of Coheed and Cambria is a little showcase of almost their entire catalog (except Good Apollo Vol 2, The Color Before the Sun and Vaxis 1 & 2). He should react to this.
The intro was just for concert dramatics. Claudio Sanchez is a composer of music and comic books. The albums and music follow the stories in the realm of his comic books The Armory Wars. The name of the band are the names of the two main protagonists in the series. From my understanding it’s the names Claudio would of given to his parents.
New sub here found ya because of listening to so much C&C. Glad you liked the song. If you ever have free time and C&C comes to your town you got to see them in concert. Maybe find away to read the Amory Wars as they are fun reads and help with most of their tunes. If you want a fun a song and fun music video that goes together C&C's "You Got Spirit Kid" is a great one to listen to and to watch. But truly it is hard to pick just one tune as they are all great in their own ways.
This album was released and my best friend and I went and saw them. She said it was the most amazing experience of her life and that it was like seeing all the great rock bands before all at once. I agreed. She died 2 years ago. I want to bring her picture along with me to the new concert because I think she would've loved it just as much as now. This album live sticks with me more than anything I've ever seen.
"The whole song is like an epic novel" ao I'm obviously listening to this as a long time listener of the band but I'm listening to your opinion of it as it goes and I have to 100% agree!! Lol
OK so at about 11:30, you mention him emulating Jimmy Hendrix and let me tell you, when I went to see them with my best friend like I mentioned earlier, he went on for over an hour with the Hendrix experience, and honestly, only you and her have said that during this performance of his. I absolutely 💯 agree.
Holy Christ seeing you cover coheed is TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE. this band has musical so she emotion pouring off of them. PLEASE listen to their first album, Second Stage Turbine Blade
The Singer/ Guitarist Claudio also writes a comic series, and all the songs in Coheed and Cambria are based off the story and go along with it. thats why it can be confusing if you don't know the work. the bands name actually comes from the story as well. The band is incredibly talented, amazing live, so creative, and on top of that its kinda a experiment that its tied to an actual story and goes along with it, though you dont need to know the story to get enjoyment from their music. but to fully grasp the music its really good to read the story. if your curious the story is called Amory Wars
Yo Mr.Lboyd ! Awesome reaction, I have a request.. Check out the indianfolkmetal band Dymbur, the song Child Abuse.. Would love to see you react to these guys & the topics they write about. These guys also fuse northeastern Indian folk instruments with metal
One, I love your Rick and Morty shirt. Two, they seem to have been transcended of the current realm. But the sound is beautiful in it's own sense. And I love it.
All of this music is great. Coheed and Cambria is easily in my top 5 most listened to groups. I'd love to see what you think of the song "Old Flames" from the Unheavenly Creatures album.
As far as next track you should check out by them, go with Number City, its a little bit of a change in style, but its catchy and good, make you wanna dance
Afterman is so often overlooked! It's one of my favorite canons and Number City is a great example of what Josh brings to their style, compared to when he was absent.
As others have pointed out, there's an entire extended lore that covers the events the song is about. Several comic books and novels. But I really commented to say that the sections where the band stops playing, and you can hear the audience singing? That happens throughout every single song. Almost every person in the crowd knows every word, and the parts where you can hear them all singing is so powerful live. And the recording really never does it justice
Reading Amory Wars at least through second stage and keeping secrets will make their first 3 albums hit different. Great scifi/ horror graphic novels that accompany the music
Almost every one of Coheed's albums form an interconnected sci-fi story that Claudio came up with that he calls The Amory Wars, this is the title track from their 2nd album which acts as the 3rd part of the story

Just come from the Welcome Home reaction....saw this one coming :D :D :D love it. subbed
Best band
Fell in love with them in 98, been fan ever since. Never miss an album
Of course, they were Shabuti, then 😁
My 10th time seeing this band with my wife is coming up 2 weeks after our 10th anniversary. I can’t wait for 10 more years and 20 more shows
The very name Coheed and Cambria are the names of the Husband and wife duo of main characters in the series of novels known as the Amory Wars written by the singer Claudio. Each album is literally the soundtrack of each volume. In keeping secrets of silent earth 3 being the third installment of the series. Thus the great variance in sounds of each track and each album. Not only very much worth the listen, they are all very much worth the read!
I've seen Coheed live 5 times and this song live is just epic
welcome back to ‘The Fence’ 🤘🏻🔥🍻 newest album is worth a listen….hell, all albums are worth a listen lol. just pull up their Wiki & start at the beginning. we need to get this man to a live show!
Hell yeah! Huge Coheed fan, please do more!
I've never been happier for a reactor to discover a new song as I am right now.
I love this band since middle school😍
One of my favorite bands. Their albums are companion pieces to the singers comic series.
Ooooh i was waiting for this after welcom home.... you are getting deep into the deliciousness!!!
Coheed and cambria forever!!
Just re downloaded this album on Apple. DAYUM talk bout crazy coink o dink
"This sounds like things I have no idea what they're talking about but I love it" literally exactly lol
If you feel like listening to a more energetic performance while they were at thier height look into this song live at the starland ballroom
WINDOW OF THE WAKING MIND TOUR NEXT WEEK FOR ME!!! I AM SO HYPED!!!
Thank god for Rock Band game. Or I would of never found out about this amazing band. Ten Speed did it for me.
That was actually a cover.
I appreciate all the children of the fence in here explaining the lore! But nothing beats being in the pit for this song!
U promise u really never heard this song? Best band live ever. Talent of Claudio is unmatchable
Which is ironic considering it's about a woman dying on an operating table after a serious car accident
@@OriionCygnus yeah it's definitely a dichotomous song
Afterman is so often overlooked! It's one of my favorite canons and Number City is a great example of what Josh brings to their style, compared to when he was absent.
My favourite song ever, masterpiece
Seen them 6 times live. This song is always the highlight
favor house was the first song i listen to but this song was what made me a fan
My favorite song from them
As others have pointed out, there's an entire extended lore that covers the events the song is about.
It’s a world and story he made, and there’s also a graphic novel that’s fun.
Amory Wars bro.
