I was fortunate enough to work on the American Queen as a bartender from 1997-1998, when it was owned by Delta Queen Steamboat Co. It was a beatiful boat and some awesome memories.
In 2019 we did the lower Mississippi & in 2021 we did the Capecodder. BOTH FANTASTIC CRUISES! 5 STAR food & service. I can't say enoigh how accommodating the entire staff was. They went out of their way to make you feel WELCOME which is something you do not get on the large cruise ships. We met some wonderful people on both cruises. Highly recommend it!!!
What a great video! My sister and I, after 60 ocean cruises and European river cruises, finally decided to try a cruise in our own country and discovered the American Queen. We had a great time from Memphis to New Orleans and booked a second Cruise in a couple of years. I hope more people give American Queen voyages a chance. They were wonderful.
It's on my bucket list that and a Columbia river cruise I been on only 28 ocean cruises I also would like to do a couple of European river cruises.... The American Queen looks to have everything I would want beautiful interior spaces, and more would like to have a longer cruise maybe 14 days.....
I'm amazed by the size and beauty of this river ship. Thanks for your ship tour. Yes, chimney soot can upset some passengers in white clothes. And I also liked a large number of rocking chairs on the open decks. I think it's very comfortable to sit in such an armchair and watch the river landscapes floating overboard.
I live in gallipolis, about 70 miles below marietta,, I work on a towboat, shoving barges all up n down the ohio River. I love lookin at the paddle wheels when we pass them, I just cannot get over the astronomical price they want for a 7 day cruise

Sad to say that new owner decided not to use her after winning bid at bankruptcy auction..they tried giving it away to several river towns, probably as static display, but no takers...she now is awaiting teardown in scrapyard

Okay, I'll be the one to ask - is there a smoking area onboard? Also, is buying a drink package as expensive as it is on an ocean cruise ship? Or do you even need one?
Yes. There is a sizable smoking area at the top of the ship. Maybe a few other areas, too. The drinks are included on this cruise ship. Thanks so much for watching! Happy travels.

I made three trips on the American Queen and was Booked for this year. A pity. I'm sorry to see her go. What will happen to her now?
