Omg I died of laughter seeing the two different experiences y’all went through! When Nate’s taxi breaks down and he’s complaining and then it switches to Kara sipping on coffee, enjoying her time. Hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Oh my god this is so funny! I just found my girlfriend watching this and realised MY SISTER AND I are in the backseat of your taxi!!! What a mental experience!!! We were BLACK after this but was worth it for the cigar rolling experience :) Enjoy the rest of your travels!!!
A little advise from a Cuban: my parents had a casa particular (Rent room) when I was growing up and for me I feel like the best advise you can take it's from ur host, maybe I'm baisad but they are locals and have knowledge of the city and it's people, I feel like they can help a lot. At least that's what my parents did. And just so you know in Cuba everything it's very sketchy you really have to be careful where and with who you spend your money. Keep in mind that everything belongs to the government and that salaries are truly awful so everyone tries to make a little money on the side to be able to eat by, for example keeping tourist from riding normal buses that are from the government and just make communists money. But as you have already experienced it's really hard to travel in Cuban cars. I would advice taking the yellow tourist caps ik it's more expensive but also way more reliable. Also don't go to restaurants that are government owned the food it's truly bad in those places and street food it's not that good either you can find the best of Cuban foods in casas particulares or in paladares . Hope you guys read this and find it a bit helpful. Love your videos and I'm truly happy you are going to Cuba and a bid sad that I know the struggle that it's to travel to and in my home country😁
Also be careful not to say what your hosts are preparing for supper. I'm sure lobster can only be bought on the black market ie someone in the trade diverting it from going to hotels. It may have changed since I was last there, my hosts always told me not to say what we eat at her casa.
You guys are hilarious, I’m Cuban and I really happy that you guys enjoy our country , your videos are so amazing and interesting that my parents even without knowing a word in English love and enjoy watching your videos , and every they ask me every week for you videos. ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
Kara l love how positive you guy's are. I know y'alls a lot younger than I am & you grew up in a Southern state where everybody's so nice. But y'all put me in a better mood every time l watch your videos. I've had such a Bittersweet life... cancer at age 24/1991, then again 2018. Different type of cancer & different stages this one was stage 3 & I beat it. And now I'm trying to get my life back together & every time I get down on myself. You guy's bring me back up. Love you guy's. Your such an awesome couple & so lucky.
*What i learn from this video-* Kara----- she was lucky, her car didnt broke down She was unlucky because her car refused to cross the bridge. Nate--- he was unlucky; car broke down He was lucky to go once in forward and once in backward direction through the bridge😂 God knows how to balance our life
I think it’s very helpful when you tell the good, the bad and the ugly. Because we need to know that traveling isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. As someone who has traveled a quarter of what you have, I have had my far share of negative experiences. Doesn’t make it any less amazing. ❤️
While the bus ticket experience was unfortunate, I like how you didn’t speak negatively about Cuba. All in all, what you experienced was the act of people trying to make money. This can, and does, happen everywhere. So by you speaking of the incident it reminds travelers in any country that it can happen to them as well. People need to be aware wherever they go. Thanks for sharing your story ❤️
It happens in some places more than other. Never encountered anything even remotely resembling a scam, or anything less then perfect honesty and courtesy in Japan.
Just wrote up a comment just about that. Toward the end they said there comments were “negative” but I disagree. I liked there opinion/review on what they experienced so far. Basically what you said above that it wasn’t negative..
Yep - this happens everywhere. I've had something similar happen in Toronto of all places. But this is just part of the adventure. I've been swarmed by gypsies in Paris and been taken on the longest 4 block taxi ride ever in Malaysia. But I got myself out of the gypsies in a hurry - with all of my belongings and the taxi ride was actually a very interesting tour of the highlights of Kuala Lumpur - I even gave the driver a tip just because he was so unabashedly cheeky about the whole thing when he caught on that i knew exactly what was going on. .
Thanks for sharing the bus ticket experience at the end of the video. It helps everyone that watches you videos so don't be kinda apologetic about it. Come to think of it, is not a scam unless you allow it to be one.
As always, I appreciate the grace with which you are transparent about the un-pleasantries of travel. Your transparency is one of the many reasons your channel will be valued as a resource for travelers and not just entertainment. You're so very entertaining though! Can't wait to see your next Cuban adventure!
I agree with all the comments, one of the best videos!!! But I really need Kara to grab some money from the hubby before splitting up! Lol Like we need to make this your default. I got really nervous for her!!! Thank God it all worked out :)
Kara describing what happened to Nate with the black on his face and the car exhaust reminds me of my best friend back home 😂 your dramatic body language there, and generally your positive attitude to everything is amazing ❤️
Cuba has been quite an adventure, for sure! I'm glad that you guys are keeping it real, as always, by telling us that you need to be careful about what you're told and by whom. It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement of this country that one may forget that for many, many years, Cubans weren't used to Americans as tourists. Having been barred from travel for over 50 years, we're a bit of a novelty, and I'm sure that extends to people looking to take advantage of tourists. That being said, Cuba is filled with wonderful, loving & generous people and I'm so glad to get to see this amazing country!
Whether American tourists or European, Canadian they’ll try to scam you. I’m Canadian and have been twice and people trying to making money are everywhere there. They are a very poor country and many will try to make extra money no matter what.
I’ve mentioned before that I just found your channel a few months ago. But I just have to say now that I’ve watched more, that I think you guys are the cutest couple. It’s great that you can do all this traveling together. I’m trying to stay up to date on the new videos and go back and watch the older ones. I’m currently at the end of the Patagonia videos.
As cuban myself I only can say that we Cuban got a very strong opinion about everything. So that might be the reason why everyone is telling different stories about the same thing that not necessarily are wrong. That's why its a little bit of a messy land....and unique of course. Oh and thanks for the video, xxx
My wife and I just went to Cuba (Havana, Vinales, and Trinidad) around New Years and I'm glad to see someone be honest and show the full picture. Most everything we saw before we went focused only on the beautiful, amazing, perfect parts of Cuba and did not prepare us for some of the aspects we had a harder time with. I completely understand your hesitation in highlighting the negative bits (small or big as they may be) as it feels like you're diminishing the rest of the trip, but it paints a better picture of what to be prepared for. While we did have an amazing time, we had some similar experiences of taxi prices changing from an initial reservation/conversation to once we were in the car as well as being given CUP rather than CUC in change. Thanks for painting a full picture of your experience while still being positive doing so!
I have been watching quite a lot of your videos and one thing I love the most about you two is that how sweetly you mention the bad things that happened to you without even a hint of anger or frustration. You guys are just so positive at every step and its wonderful to watch. Keep up the good work. (y)
WE LOVE KARA AND NATE! Their adventures and style of traveling have taught us so much in planning our own travels! We've started our own channel documenting our journey and are about to upload our first vlog with our second one coming soon.
I think it's an experience. It's like you just have to trust that the other person will do their best to find you. That feeling when you know there is absolutely no way to contact the other person and when you do find each other that joy you feel inside.
It's weird because I went to Cuba and had cell service immediate upon landing. I didn't use it much as it would have been expensive international service but definitely had it. You could also buy internet time at the hotel, I know Kara and Nate didn't stay at hotels but you can also go to Internet cafes and get internet time, especially in Havana. So I find how they had no connection really strange. Maybe because they were American their phone plan wouldn't be supported? But I would have to imagine they would have some kind of international plan with all the traveling they do...
Hi Kara and Nate. - thanks for sharing - wow what an eventful day you had - You looked very calm considering you got separated. These events is what makes travelling so interesting. Well done for avoiding the scam. One question have you felt safe filming with your camera and gimbal. We're in Central America filming and so far unless on a tour group - we have filmed on go pro and often without external microphone as don't want to draw attention - we haven't got the gimbal out yet ! would love to you what you think. Probably ok during the day - thanks as always for sharing - Marianne and Chris
my family went on a trip to cuba over thanksgiving because my dad was teaching music over there, and it was absolutely incredible. your videos are capturing it’s beauty in such a real way and it’s making me soooooo nostalgic💛💛💛 it’s so crazy to finally be able to relate to your vids and see something and be like “woahhhh wait i’ve been there!!” anyways this was long but thank you for documenting all of the amazing places you explore!🌍🌍❤️
Firstly your so brave kara being separated in a foreign country high five .. when you were finally reunited at the hotel aww so much love between you both,, such a beautiful place with what seems lovely people and hosts.. hope to see this lobster dinner lol . And it's nice to see you both be so real with the negative side but compensate it with more positives..well done to you both..can't wait to see more video..much love from Glasgow(Scotland) xx
I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the honesty about your experiences. It's easy to gloss over the less pleasant parts, but harder to keep it real, and you've achieved a perfect balance of being both truthful and respectful!
Our family went to Cuba last year and although the price of transportation is "flexible" and there are eager people willing to help you out [at a cost], we understood that the Cubans were trying to make money and they needed to make money. We had so many similar situations: shared taxis, taxis that broke down, full buses, long lines etc. . . but Cuba is absolutely beautiful, the people are so generous and there is a very mysterious magic about the island. When in Cuba, you take your time and be patient when things don't go how you planned. Then you get to see the country for all its beauty and you get to have amazing conversations. I would go back in a heartbeat!
Last February we were there and rode in a 1955 Ford four hours to Vanales then on the ride back Havana. In your other Havana video you go into a restaurant. We ate there too because it's front door was directly across from where we stayed. The place with the red balcony. We had the top floor which was beautiful, though all rustic on the outside.
Thank you for the FULL STORY. It is important to me as well as others I'm sure to hear the full story of your travels. The world is full of positive and negative experiences. Just keep it real. Thank you
The reason i love your vlogs is you keep it real . Bad experiences are part of travel but don't define the trip but kinda make it part of the memories. Love you guys
Oh wow! Kara and Nate, me and my boyfriend were in Cuba at roughly the same time as you guys! Our taxi ride to Viñales was not as memorable as yours, but I confirm that they seem to bring anyone going by taxi to the same tobacco and coffee plantation. The whole bus ticket stuff happened to us as well and we just popped into a tour agency next door and bought a bus ticket for the day we wanted. You learn to improvise and not stress about the little things in Cuba! 😄
Nate: Worst fears of travelling in Cuba and being away from Kara coming true Kara: Having the time of her life sampling Cuban coffee and roaming around tobacco plantations 😂😂😂😂
I always love watching your vlogs. As a person who can't get around very well, I always look forward to seeing places that I would have difficulty going to due to my disabilities. Thanks again and keep up the great work
WOAH WOAH, you can't just say you're gonna eat lobster and not show us, I was excited. *eating my peanut butter and jelly sandwich with disappointment* Lol I love you guys, hope you stay safe!!
I had to rewind this a couple times when Nate was backing across the bridge! I laughed so hard! His reactions are absolutely priceless! Don’t know what it is about these two, but Kara and Nate are MAGIC
It always bring me joy to watch your travel videos! It feels like I’m travelling with you guys though I am unable to travel as I’m in the army for 2 years 🤗
In general, I love your vlogs but the story telling in this one from the dual footage to the display of everyday life-magnificent. Trust your gut-a scam will always "feel like" a scam. Kudos👏🏽
This was amazing!! Defiantly the most comprehensive Cuba series I’ve seen on RUclips! Also I have many Cuban friends we call them hustlers cause you gotta admire the tenacity must be something in the bloodline😂 I like that you mentioned in the last vlog they all have a side hustle it’s so true! Love Cuba and the people y’all did a great job showing all sides!
I want to watch Nate's reaction to Kara's video. She had a nice relaxing day. Nate had a somewhat harried day. It's like the real life version of choose your own adventure.
I went to Cuba last year, thanks in large part to your videos! I have watched this one so many times since I got home because it does such a great job of capturing the sense of humor you need while traveling in Cuba. I loved it there!
I've always dreamt of riding in one of those cars all my life!! Guess the only way is to go to Cuba!!! So excited to see the rest of your trip!! Whenever a notification pops up, I leave everything, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy your adventures
In the old days people would pick a spot to return. For example, when I use to go to Disney as a kid, my Mom would say to meet back at the carousel if we got lost. You should always have some sort of plan, because you never know.
Integrity is a good thing. Don't be afraid to tell it like it is if you think it will truly help someone. There are scams in every part of the world but, as you said, you didn't have wifi to check it out! You find the good in everything. Maybe the good is letting other people know what might happen. That is a little scary to be separated!!! But hey, a smile and being genuinely friendly certainly helps. You've got that in abundance!!! xoxoxoxoxox
THIS is absolutely my favorite vlog so far! I can’t wait to go back to Vinales. The little green piece of paper, lol. Love traveling like this! So good!
Loved the video, guys! I really appreciated your candor at the end of the video--it's super helpful to know before heading to Cuba. As always, I am super excited to see the next video!
I started watching recently while getting better from an illness. I watched your vlogs from Poland and for some reason kinda liked it (ok could have been the migraine meds) you made me laugh Kara. Anyhow I started watching a few random vlogs your Everest trek and trans Siberian train ride. I can't travel, have way to many food allergies and a few other issues to do 90% of what you do but I love watching y'all at night. So thanks guys for making me laugh and bringing the world to me.
My friends were so excited to visit Cuba but they said people weren't helpful at the bus station or really anywhere and that they felt like if something bad happened there wouldn't have been anyone to help. Probably not having cell or internet contributed to this but I think people have to remember that this country isnt set up for tourism yet. It isnt just fun old cars and cool hats. I think having a guide is a great way to see it.
That was exciting to see the tobacco. I grew it with my family in Clarksville, TN as a child until I left for university. It was damn hard work, and smoking is not really a healthy habit to have; but it was a huge part of my upbringing so it was neat to see it grown in Cuba. They had it hanging different in the barn than we did. Where you able to book a tobacco tour?
1 month and 593 videos later I am caught up, kinda bittersweet but now I can check your Instagram videos without spoiling anything for myself. Now I’ll be anxiously waiting a new upload notification. Keep up the awesome work!
Oh my god I m so sorry you guys went through whatever kinda bad stuff you did .. You guys are awesome .. I just discovered your videos today and I am a total fan .. One of the best features about Cuba is its people and I know that because I am one of them .. again , sorry for the scams or intents of scams .. everywhere there's almost always son sinverguenzas .. Loving you guys , I gonna keep watching
🎓🚩You're a travel show & you went as reporters. You should be including scams tips as much as trustworthy people, places & things. 😍Love seeing the vintage vehicles! ✌️ PEACE 💜 BLESSINGS 👼
ive been there in year 2013 with mum, our cousin left Slovenia and moved to Havana, best 3weeks of holidays there ❤️❤️ and Cayo cocco with Varadero ❤️❤️
Omg I died of laughter seeing the two different experiences y’all went through! When Nate’s taxi breaks down and he’s complaining and then it switches to Kara sipping on coffee, enjoying her time. Hilarious 😂😂😂😂
I love how Nate is vlogging about the car breaking down and then it just cuts to Kara drinking a little cup of coffee 😂
That was my favorite part, too!
Lol me tooo🤣
Meagan Lily maybe it’s TeA
Sheri McGraw my to
My tpp
Kara: I have to walk because of the bridge
Nate: goes across and backwards on that same bridge😂
Macie Baroni Lmbo 😂😂😂
Hey, at least it was the SAME bridge they went over!
Only in Cuba! Everything is fair game LoL 🤣
Hi kara & nate. Can you tell me where you guys got the cuban peso?
I noticed that too!!!
Kara: sipping on a mango smoothie
Nate: trying to back down a bridge made of termites holding hands in Cuba's most sketchy taxi
"a bridge made of termites holding hands" LOL Love it.
Really laughed out loud.
Really, nothing is sketchy about the taxi...
I literally laughed so hard I choked when I read this
This made my day. I miss Cuba so much.
Oh my god this is so funny! I just found my girlfriend watching this and realised MY SISTER AND I are in the backseat of your taxi!!! What a mental experience!!! We were BLACK after this but was worth it for the cigar rolling experience :) Enjoy the rest of your travels!!!
Wow thats so cool lol
Lol I feel like Nate always ends up getting the short end of the stick in these situations 😂
Erin Rose He can take it, He's a MAN !!! LOL 😁😂
Better than poor kara, no money no phone

Thank you for your advice ❤ We absolutely loved all of our hosts AND THEIR FOOD😍
@@KaraandNate 😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
That's awesome Irina, good to know as well. Same world over, locals are amazing and will always look out for you, experienced the same in Africa :)
Thank you Irina, super helpful advice.
Also be careful not to say what your hosts are preparing for supper. I'm sure lobster can only be bought on the black market ie someone in the trade diverting it from going to hotels. It may have changed since I was last there, my hosts always told me not to say what we eat at her casa.
Karas taxi “this bridge is not car accessible”
Nate’s taxi “bring it on I can do it backwards”
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🙃so funny these two🙃

Love that you kicked cancer’s butt TWICE! Keep persevering, God has you here for a reason! ❤️

It's a show.. presentation.. They have issues like everyone else, they just happen to work through it
*What i learn from this video-*
Kara----- she was lucky, her car didnt broke down
She was unlucky because her car refused to cross the bridge.
Nate--- he was unlucky; car broke down
He was lucky to go once in forward and once in backward direction through the bridge😂
God knows how to balance our life
So true

I agree with all the comments, one of the best videos!!! But I really need Kara to grab some money from the hubby before splitting up! Lol Like we need to make this your default. I got really nervous for her!!! Thank God it all worked out :)
she was saying: “she arrived before her husband” & “he’s on a different taxi”! also, your spanish is pretty good!

Thanks for being real about safety. That’s why I watch travel videos to see if that a place I would like to travel to. Great video as always
Bless y'all's hearts!! I gotta laugh tho ..Kara sipping coffee...relaxing...and poor Nate's on the side of the road in Havana ohhh na na!!!

Y’all truly have the best travel videos on RUclips!! Can’t wait for the next one!
The fact that they were separated without cellphone reception/internet..and still got footage that ties into each others experience. Perfection!
RUclips didn't notify me. This is the first time ever. If you hadn't posted to Twitter, i would not have known. :( but thankfully now I do!
Ugh I know I messed it up!!!! I’m so upset 😭 Glad you found it anyways!
Y'all handled being separated a lot better than I think I would have 😂
Kara explaining what she told their hosts starting at 10:54 had me 😂😂😂
Lol they thought I was CRAAAZY!
Kara and Nate LOVE that! I’m sure they would’ve thought I was crazy too! 😉
Back to the roots of communication. Great authentic presentation of all day Cuban issues. Thank you so much for sharing!

You guys are super brave to travel alone with no way to communicate! Thanks for the honest review of your experience!
We all need to hear the good and the bad! Plz always be honest with us. I appreciate all your hard work!
100% appreciate showing the more real side of your travels. If y’all didn’t show that, you wouldn’t come across so genuine!

That moment when Kara tells Nate "Hola mi amor!" Soooo adorable
I loved the differences of each car ride...lol! And, YES...we only want honesty - you must tell the negatives as well. LOVE y’all’s videos!!!
This kind of gave me anxiety😂 seeing you two seperated in a very secluded country with no means of communication😅
It’s so funny how you guys make every situation a memorable and exciting one. Love you guys.
I just love how eveytime one of them is talking and another sees the one with so much of love.😊
I love this video. Having you two doing two different things and not knowing about what the other one is up to was entertaining.
Nate: Worst fears of travelling in Cuba and being away from Kara coming true
Kara: Having the time of her life sampling Cuban coffee and roaming around tobacco plantations
😂😂😂😂
The cinematography of the cigar smoking - amazing!!
Recently rewatched your Japan vlogs. It’s amazing how far you’ve come w editing, filming and story telling. Y’all need to go back to Japan !
Hahaha those japan vlogs are entertaining in a whole new way 🤣 Yes we neeeeeed to go back!
I always love watching your vlogs. As a person who can't get around very well, I always look forward to seeing places that I would have difficulty going to due to my disabilities. Thanks again and keep up the great work
WOAH WOAH, you can't just say you're gonna eat lobster and not show us, I was excited.
*eating my peanut butter and jelly sandwich with disappointment*
Lol I love you guys, hope you stay safe!!
I had to rewind this a couple times when Nate was backing across the bridge! I laughed so hard! His reactions are absolutely priceless! Don’t know what it is about these two, but Kara and Nate are MAGIC
I travelled round Cuba this summer and it was the best experience I've ever had. I am loving reliving my trip through your videos.
It always bring me joy to watch your travel videos! It feels like I’m travelling with you guys though I am unable to travel as I’m in the army for 2 years 🤗
Aww so glad you enjoy them! 🌎❤️
"what did people do back in the old days?" It was difficult masting smoke signals and the best way to use carrier pigeons but we somehow survived.
I love your positive vibe. Amazing open minded people. I adore your adventures 🌟happy Chinese new year 🐲🐲
I want to watch Nate's reaction to Kara's video. She had a nice relaxing day. Nate had a somewhat harried day. It's like the real life version of choose your own adventure.
It's cute when Kara speaks Spanish.
Thank you guys for another great video 😄
Rhett and Claire love it
😄
i love how kara was having fun while nate was still on the road 😂😂❤️
Thank you for sharing not only the awesome parts of your Cuban travels but also the strange, weird and mildly negative :)
I was just thinking, “I hope Kara and Nate post today, I need something to get excited about”. Boom. Y’all uploaded 2 minutes later! Yay!
Woah great timing! Hope it excited you🤗
Me too!!! They are so uplifting ❤
So good!
Omg I never laughed as much as I did when the car start to revers back on the Bridge and he said NO, NO
Loved the video, guys!
Kara: *having no care in world drinking pure Cuban coffee.
Nate: *broken down car, covered in dirt, almost dies on a make shift bridge.
I love the honesty in the videos... keep it up! There are pros and cons to all destinations - I love hearing about all sides
1 month and 593 videos later I am caught up, kinda bittersweet but now I can check your Instagram videos without spoiling anything for myself. Now I’ll be anxiously waiting a new upload notification. Keep up the awesome work!
This was hilarious. The juxtaposition of Nate struggling and Kara relaxing would make for a great sitcom.
Kara those coffee cups are so cute. It's so funny seeing those cars. My dad drove those cars growing up. Lol
Always appreciate you being honest with your experiences!
A very enjoyable and memorable video. Some of the best stories can never be planned in advance.
I absolutely love how nate is struggling with the car and kara is just sipping on drink in all situations.
I love watching these two kids on their travels but there is no way that I would ever separate from my wife in a foreign country never!!!!!
very dangerous indeed.
BS 😂 it's safe for single travelers
Beautiful experience, I love your positivity throughout the whole trip 😍 Cuba is always a good idea
"Everybody in our car is just filthy black." - No context
