We traveled to Cuba from Mexico, so as Americans we were a little nervous to transfer from Cuba back through the U.S. in case we were questioned why. We flew from Havana to Miami, FL, grabbed a quick bite at the AMEX Centurion Lounge, then flew to St. Martin Island in the Caribbean. When we arrived at our AirBnb, it wasn't what we expected...

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Dude, you were *not* being a diva. You were misled about the accommodations, and you needed something else. It's that simple. You had every right to ask for it to be canceled. Don't feel bad because you may have inconvenienced someone, when they clearly didn't care that they were inconveniencing you.

Lokan3 me too I’m disabled and don’t have good enough health to travel. I love getting to travel from my comfy bed 🛌 every evening or so when I watch their videos. They do such an amazing job covering everything. I like that they have decided to use the label travel journalists because that is exactly what they are. They cover things way better than many other you tubers.

Highly likely that this room had Internet a year ago. Don’t forget that this Beautiful island was destroyed by the hurricane. Lots of house owners lost everything also the internet connections. They are doing their best to rebuild everything to welcome the tourists.
Deceiving and ripping off tourists is no way to rebuild the industry. Stop making excuses for smarmy hosts.

This is actually very common. The price is always super low so HUGE RED FLAG if the price is low and it looks so nice.

I'd love to hear your tips on how to book the good ones, and maybe some stories about your best and worst experiences. I am an airbnb host, and I hope this episode hasn't put my fellow viewers off on airbnb. Most of us hosts try really hard to create a good experience for you. Two tips for new airbnb users: read the listing description completely and read all the reviews! Sorry you got a bum one this time, Kara and Nate!
Bindiya J I’ve tried to use Airbnb 2 times and it did not workout for me. Unfortunately I had two bad hosts back to back so I’m never using the service again. Not trying to discourage you but it really does depend on how great of a host you have and if they are honest about their accommodations. Good luck!

So not a Diva! You are giving valuable information!! I love the at you said, "I'm not even mad because I'm learning something." To me, that's inspiring! You said great things about the people at Air BnB and the people on the island. Think back to your first year and finding a nice hotel in Marrakesh (I think that was it) You handled it so differently!! You still found the silver lining!!!
OMG, guys... you are anything BUT Divas!! You guys are so understanding, patient and kind, considering you were the victims of false advertising! You absolutely have the right to expect the accommodations you were shown. The hosts were hard to deal with after the fact because they knew they were being shady like. I'm so glad that you found a nice place! Traveling is ALWAYS an adventure. Drama, although frustrating, does make for interesting content! Love you guys! 💗💗
The reason I prefer K&N over any other travel vlogger that I have come across is the transparency they had promised to show in the beginning of the journey and still continue to do so, instead of painting a pretty picture. There are always situations like this IRL and am so glad that they took a brave face through it, the reason why they are so relatable. Maybe they didn't record the everything, maybe they control their reactions for the camera, but in the end they showed it and that's why I love them and follow them ♥️🙌
Totally with you guys on this one. Table, AC, internet, comfort is vital for those work weeks! Shady AF they swapped the listings/rooms on you... We would have done the same.
I love how positive you always are. So many people in this situation would’ve been mad-mouthing the host or complaining a ton, but y’all just roll with it. So refreshing!
Glad you cancelled. They were scamming by not showing the actual pictures of the place. They did not deserve the fee. I hope AirBNB deals with their dishonesty so others don’t get sucked in. Good job! But you kept positive in the video. And glad it all worked out

When I flew from Cuba back to Miami, it honestly was the quickest customs experience I have ever had. No questions. Super easy. Kara - you are hilarious. Between your “working on my beach bod” and the little maracas dance you do when you eat something yummy, you always keep us laughing. ❤️ this vlog!!

I watched your Peruvian mountain pod video while in the bath drinking tea, your Siberian Trans Railway series as I eat dinner or finish school work, and so many other cool videos. I had this happen once in an AirBnb in Spain. They checked us into a room that wasn't ours, slow-rolled responses, and when I left they communicated hours later, told us we should go to another place, but I'd already checked into a hotel by then. I protested, but AirBnb didn't back me. Had it happen a second time, but involved AirBnb at the outset of it feeling hinky. They backed me in that case.
Since that guy from the Airbnb said to call them directly, I would give them a negative 👎 comment for sure. They wasted your time, they lied 🤥 and you both really needed this. 🤩😇😍 I’m loving 🥰 each video I’ve been watching for 3 days now. Lol 😂 still sick 🤕 but healing.

When the year is up and you have spent the last hour in your 100th destination, you should reflect back on the past year's that made it all possible whether it be the family your friends or the RUclips watches that made it all possible. I always have a laugh at at your organised chaos at airports. 13 minutes before boarding and Kara's pressing the elevator button to go to a lounge! Brilliant. I'd be rushing for the gate. Maybe I need to chill a bit, and adopt the Kara+Nate approach to airports.

You don't have to apologize. I love how humble you guys are and that you do apologize because you don't want to seem like divas or to offend anyone. But the point of the matter was - you never said anything bad about that AirBnB other than it's not what you expected and it wasn't really suitable for the work you intended to do there. Glad you were able to talk to the support team and get out of it and find somewhere else to stay at the last minute. You guys are always so positive and make the best of bad situations!
My parents and I had a bad experience with hosts with Airbnb, we were staying in Anna Maria Island Fl with family friends and we didn’t want to intrude any longer so we had booked a home about 45 minutes away. When we got there the house had no AC during the first week of July in southern Florida, (not good) but as you said Airbnb’s support team was AMAZING!! I’m glad they are so wonderful especially to those in another country, I’m glad you got it all figured out!! Much love from Chattanooga 💞

As an airplane enthusiast this place is 100% on my bucket list of places to visit! Can't wait for the footage from the beach while I sit in the middle of a snow storm here!
What I have learned from traveling in the Caribbean is that the locals are always so friendly and grateful and some of the best people I have ever met
We went to St Maarten about 10 years ago, and the people were so friendly there. We absolutely loved it. Also, 2 natives helped save my daughters' lives due to a near-drowning. My older daughter has stayed in touch with someone from there. The island was absolutely devastated by a hurricane a few years ago, and the hotel we stayed in still isn't finished (it had to be completely rebuilt). We still hope to return someday. It really is a special place.
This is the only way I can travel in 2021 by watching previous Kara and Nate videos :)
The second place was well worth it, after being disappointed at the 1st. Love your travels Kara & Nate.

Loved the pacing, the sound and editing of this Cuba series. I’m pretty familiar with the mad dash through a lounge and it made me laugh you stayed true to form with boarding last, Ive done it accidentally my last few flights 😂. Glad Airbnb worked with you, I’ve heard other horror stories, but surely Airbnb wants your business.
I so relate to you around minute 12. Reminds me of when we were on a cruise had an overnight stay in bali. Realized how much I hate having to take a tender back and forth ( waited 1.5 hrs to get off ship) . We booked a Airbnb last minute on tender on our way to shore (Google Fi is the real MVP) . I remember walking down a weird dark street to get to our place afraid we were lost late at night in a foreign country. Luckily we found it and it was beautiful.
