- Reptiles in general are likely some of the most misunderstood animals alive, with snakes being one of the most feared even though they are, in reality, among the most docile animals. Have you ever wondered how or why some people will share their homes with giant snakes and lizards that terrify many people? How is it that we can gain the trust of that "reptile brain" and actually form bonds with them? Here we talk about some of what makes a snake tick and what makes them so awesome to work with. It's like most things; once the fears are overcome it's not nearly as terrifying as it once was!

i got a ball python because when i was young my mom was terrified of snakes, so i was never allowed. i wanted another reptile and decided to try a snake. i was terrified to get used to this thing, i thought for sure i was getting bit. since then i’ve basically become obsessed with snakes and snake care, and interacting with snakes. these animals are very misunderstood and it’s society’s fault to be honest. every time you see or hear the word snake in context it’s almost always bad.
Athena is probably thinking, "Man..I don't get it! I keep walking and I'm not getting ANYWHERE!! HEY DAD!! I wanna go for a walk...NOOOWWW!!😅
Snakes are precious ❤
I have always been terrified of snakes, couldn’t even watch them on TV, but since watching your channel I realise that I have nothing to fear. Your content is always so interesting and I love seeing Apollo running around in the backyard 😂
There is a danger present with every pet. That does not mean nontraditional pets like snakes, other reptiles, and larger reptiles are out to get you. The cases we hear about are just that--survival. These animals do not actively seek out people to eat when they have a sense of what is their preferred prey, but there are bound to be clashes when we encroach on their territory. A healthy respect and fear keeps people safe. Reptiles have shown such a keen intelligence that is incredible to behold when keeping them properly. Excellent video as always.
Fear mongering. People love it. Only the curious, courageous and kind pass folklore to explore the song of the serpent. Great video, as always!
Kids always like them , parents always hate them , i use the kids to get to their parents, the first thing i get from them is "it's dry , I thought they were slimie"
90 % of the people i interact with leave with a completely different perspective about them
Great explanation of a misunderstood species!
You’d get bit by a dog or cat way before a snake ( and it will hurt way more). My french bulldog causes me more pain on a daily basis that a snake ever could
💯❗️ I have multiple snakes. My arms are always covered in scratches and bites. From my snakes? NO! I own a cat! He may be my last cat-he’s a terror. 😂
Your point?
@@deckzone3000 people scared of snakes cuz they bite. It’s not terrible but everything can bite. people more scared of the aura that the animal itself
@deckzone3000 So I'm guessing someone touched you in a bad place once now you're intent on trolling members of a community you know nothing about? I have some friends that are therapists, if you need help I'm sure we can arrange it, I hate to see people suffering alone.
Love my Burm .. you're right they are very chill and fun and easy going snakes.. that describes my Burm perfectly
You explain these things so well, Tim. I wanted to be a herpetologist when I was a kid. The amount of knowledge and love in the reptile community has blown my mind since I got my first snake in January 2023 at 40 years old. Brings me to tears when I see such knowledgeable and responsible keepers educating the public and teaching me things I never knew. Awesome video as always!
Thank you! ...and I agree, the community is getting a lot better! I think it's going to keep growing too
Man you did a amazing job on this, very well said and done! Much respect. Had my rock out for a bit before feeding the young uns. We can learn so much when we sit with them, let them be themselves, slither, climb, explore. They shine when we let them. When they come to you and lay their head in your hand, look right through your eyes into your soul and basically accept you if you pass the test, it is amazing. Thank you Sir, for your service and your dedication and commitment to a community that we all love.
That’s a good title to bring in new people that no nothing of our industry. I’m sure your going to hit them with all that good info I’ve been hearing you speak over the years. I’ll watch in the morning, now it’s time for bed😂 Be easy Tim
I CANNOT un-see that poor snake being held TIGHTLY around her neck. Your video was about how NOT to handle your snake! That image is burned into my brain. She's so sweet! Right now she's just hanging out on your hand just chillin'❤ I have NEVER seen a snake STOP. She hasn't moved in over 5 minutes 😮.. she loves you...😊
I WISH I LIVED CLOSER TO YOU! I would be at your place every day until you had to file a "No Contact Order" on my ass!😅It's just because I just love watching you interact with your animals! I just watched a snake FALL ASLEEP in your hands! I've NEVER seen that happen before... and I watch alot of videos about snakes and their cousins the lizards! I'm about as far away from North Carolina as it gets! I'm in Sitka, Alaska. Believe it or not, there are ALOT of reptile lovers in my Island! No kidding. My "next door" neighbor has a couple of the CUTEST hog nose snakes. I ADORE THEM! I'm always happy to babysit when they're out fishing. We have a beautiful wildlife refuge here for all kinds of critters. Eagles mostly. I volunteer there ALL the time. Great video today Tim. Thankyou❤
Athena is so soooo sweet..
I had my daughter come with me to pick up one of my snakes a couple years back. Her first reaction was "EWWWW GROSS". had never even touched one,let alone been around one. She's absolutely fine with my snakes,it's her mother who is not😂. I'll forward this. I can only hope it'll help.
Hey Tim, hi everyone. How's it going?
Loved this !
I'm always surprise that people think they are slimy, it like they never touch high quality leather item ...It just more awesome when they are alive and moving, they are so soft! They are great pet for people with allergies and that want an animal that don't need constant attention. they still need care but not emotional care apart enrichment from their environment/enclosure.
Tim, great video as always!
Ooooh! Just happened to see this vid ❤
🐍🌎👍🏻
There's some big wild retics that can eat people in asia.......might be rare but it still happens
I did say that :-)
Snakes the majority of the time are cuter than most dogs....for example...my mom has a French bulldog...I think that dog is ugly.. my reticulated pythons face is a lot cuter.....
Facts :-)
They are reptiles though, so they aren't really pets, just prisoners in people's homes.
They are reptiles. They most certainly are pets..."prisoners"? really dude? The only videos you have on your channel are of your caged birds...who the do you think you are to criticize reptile keepers when you yourself keep animals in cages? Hypocrite troll.
You aced this topic Tim ;o) THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
