I thoroughly enjoy watching all your videos. Not only in how you demonstrate very clearly how you do rebuilds of your locomotives including improving the sound but also your amazing weathering skills of your locomotives and rolling stock and your attention to detail in your layout and its buildings. And your filming is excellent. So much to learn from you. Thank you. Greetings from the Train Lord in South Australia a member of a train club set up in an old railway station.
I have a very strange complement to pay to you on both your layout and your cinematography skills. I'm watching your latest video and am thoroughly taken aback by the level of detail and incredible realism of what I'm watching. So, I think to myself, this must be some video game SIM with a 3 rail option because I have never seen a layout with this level of realism before. It can't be possible. So I look back through your library and find lionel power, etc. So, finally the compliment. Bravo sir! This is the finest 3 rail layout I have ever seen, barre none. I am impressed, amazed and inspired. Thank you for sharing this with me and the world!
The attention to detail is truly amazing.....the weathering is spectacular......the structures look real ....very impressive work here.......thanks for sharing
I noticed a "Gorre and Daphetid" boxcar in this video! On another note, the quality of your track work is amazing: rust, fish plates and bolts. Perfect.
Beautiful locomotive Norm. I completely forgot about this class locomotive on the Pennsy until seeing this video this morning. Great job on it. Looks and sounds amazing!
What an extraordinary layout! The level of detailing is most remarkable, so much so that the "third rail ", which you claim is there, is hardly noticeable! Amazing ! The videography is also very well done, lending a highly realistic aura to the whole scene. Thanks for sharing these amazing videos!
Have you ever thought about making some tutorial videos on track, scenery, buildings, etc? Your attention to detail is hands down the best I’ve ever seen in O scale. Would love to learn how you did it all! Great video, as always!!
The 60 members of the N1s 2-10-2 are one of the least remembered classes, and quite underrated. They might not have been as powerful or as strong as the I1s/a, but they had the distinction of being the only PRR design that didn’t have a member built by Juniata. Also they were the first class of large power to be retired.
Really enjoying these views of incredible Pennsylvania action on your layout. I like the Detailed scale look on the Locomotives and cars, especially with the couplings. I can't get enough of this. Well Done Norm !!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! It simply doesn't get any better than this. This is what 3 rail O scale railroading should look like. So well done Norm! Just stunning. Thanks for sharing this.
AAAH , the ever so elusive ERIE BUILTS , Oh yeah , also a N1s in reality ,you could find all Pennsy 2-10-2 working around ERIE PA pulling great lake material to points south .
How did you keep a steady electrical connection between the set so the lights/sounds wont cut out? Did you simply add more connections? Its seriously so smooth throughout the whole ride. I know the trains you use are costly, but does it help to have more of an expensive train?
Greg France thanks. The layout is L shaped, 29X36’. No website, just occasionally post on OGR. Layout was featured last year in OGR run 301 (October/November 2018) and in TM Books’ 3 Rail Scale video that came out around the same time.
It's my understanding 3rd Rail locomotives don't run too well "out o the box" and need a lot of work to get them to where they should be. I see the smoke unit is turned off. 3rd Rail has incredible detail, but the internals aren't great. I had one 3rd Rail locomotive years ago and wasn't happy with it at all. 3rd Rail made a beautiful D&H Challenger if you can find one, but I don't know what it would take to get it to run right.
g bridgman most of the 3rd Rail stuff I buy has minor cosmetic challenges and/or outdated electronics. They run much nicer than most other makes due to better gear ratios. Sorry to hear you had troubles. I made a comment about smoke earlier, sometimes I will run smoke for videos, but try to do it sparingly as it wreaks havoc on my weathering. A lot of my engines don’t even have smoke units.
DjsOgaugeTrains did I ever put one up? I had some clips on OGR a few years ago. Always wanted to make a RUclips of it. It did a few run-bys in the new TM vid.
Norm Charbonneau oh yeah it was probably something I saw on the forum. I just bought a T1 with a ERR upgrade & 4 chuffs, I’m excited to get it and was trying to find yours. I believe it was pulling a mail/ express consist. If you can get to it I’m sure a bunch of us would love to see it.
Sent my 1st post too soon, what I mean't to say was if you had authentic smoke in these scenes, they could pass for the real thing! Extraordinary attention to detail!
I love the fact that you just run at scale speed, no jumping up and down on the whistle!!!! And let folks enjoy the view of your work!!!! Excellent!!!

Peter Norkawich thanks man!
Agreed! I to had a hard time believing the reality of what I was seeing. I personally have subscribed to his channel and watched all of his videos.

The attention to detail in your layout is incredible
Gold Eagle thx man!
Terrific as always Norm. Don’t often see a PRR N1 2-10-2.
Beautiful locomotive Norm.
I completely forgot about this class locomotive on the Pennsy until seeing this video this morning.
Great job on it. Looks and sounds amazing!
3rd Rail made an N1 😳. They really made everything a PRR modeler could need!

The fact of how well detailed the weathering makes the engines and rolling stock fit with the layout is amazing
Onion Hat hey thanks man!

Ah I remember these sounds from when I was a kid lol. I remember going to a train show and running the actual TMCC J1
MPT 1225 I have the Lionel J1a. I may swap out the sounds on this and save them if I ever get a 3rd Rail J.
Norm Charbonneau oh cool
Really neat to see a PRR N 2-10-2. These were built to work the ore lines of Western PA and Eastern OH including the E&P.
That’s a rare bird! Thanks for sharing. Great work as always
Beautiful layout thanks for sharing it

I am building an HO scale N1. Your amazing videography of this superb model is a very helpful detailing guide.
Looks totally real, nice work.
Nicely done. A very realistic and detailed layout, excellent job. The weathering is fantastic.
Hi Norm The PRR N1 looks great running and coupling up to the rolling stock. Nice train action. Greetings Nick from New Jersey
Nicely shot. Excellent perspective
I'd love to see more videos of this beaut of a 2-10-2
Id love to see a video of you explaining your weathering techniques! Layout looks amazing!
Love the N1 and N2. Not something seen much on lines east or in PA but still really cool locos. Best to you.
AAAH , the ever so elusive ERIE BUILTS , Oh yeah , also a N1s in reality ,you could find all Pennsy 2-10-2 working around ERIE PA pulling great lake material to points south .
Superb....
The only good O scale layout I can find👏🏾

I know the trains you use are costly, but does it help to have more of an expensive train?
Mark Matias on this particular engine, I added an extra third rail pickup on one of the tender trucks.
I have never seen and n1 before! Cool
Norm - Would you p[lease tell me the size in feet that your RR takes up? I thought you published it somewhere but I cant find it. Many Thanks.....
29’ by 36’
Fantastic, as usual.
Amazing layout, and videos! Norm what is the size of your layout and configuration? Do you have a website? I love your work.

The forgotten Pennsy steamer.

@@normstrains Thanks for the reply.
Hey norm what happened to your pennsy T1 video?
DjsOgaugeTrains did I ever put one up? I had some clips on OGR a few years ago. Always wanted to make a RUclips of it. It did a few run-bys in the new TM vid.

Atlas passing by Kennedy
I swear if you blurred the video a bit & muted the colors this would easily pass as historical footage
Is it just me or have most of his videos been deleted?
Perler Bear I deleted my NW2 vids a couple days ago, but that’s been it lately. They were pretty lame.
Norm I know this was mentioned already
