Oh you're not alone the bayformers films are my childhood quite literally I grew up whatching these movies and this scene and when Optimus first transforms is the most nostalgic scenes for me
Can u imagine how significant this scene is. For the first time ever, especially as a kid seeing this in theatres. First ever live action transformers. All the cartoons and toys, we wouldn't have imagined how it would look like in real life and this was the first scene, the CGI was mind-blowing. Holds up even to this day, you couldn't tell how long ago this was. I remember being a kid in that very theatre and boy oh boy the conversations at school the next day was insane. Everyone was talking about it, reenacting this scene. We memorised all the names of the decepticons and autobots. Truly redefining, indescribable and jaw dropping. I am so thankful for this memory
Such a terrifying way to start this series! Blackout knew he was in control the entire time. He didn't have to rush his transformation because he knew that the humans couldn't do anything to stop him. The way Michael Bay led up to the siege was fantastic!
This was the Jurassic Park of 2007 Back then NO ONE thought it was possible for a human truck, helicopter etc to transform into robots the size of buildings practically and while the franchise has suffered from too many explosions, juvenile humor and less than stellar acting the robots were always outstanding nm what they turned into.
Decepticons from first movie was tough and scary af. Even Autobots working together to take out single Decepticon. But now they can just get killed by one shot. Shame
Ah, back when the Transformers looked like the vehicles they turned into, nowadays they could be a car and turn into a robot that looks nothing like that car, EG: Lockdown
J C they started to to make the robot mode without considering the vehicle mode - which left the guy (genius) who was able to work out how to fold all the parts into each transformer models.
Blackout is the real G for this, dude just casually taking out a entire military base solo, also did u see how badass he's walking while destroying those airplanes at 3:11
This is when the Decepticons were actually a genuine threat. Each and every one of the Cons was powerful and intimidating in his own right. - Blackout singehandedly destroyed a large military base and it took an entire squad of Raptor jets to bring him down. - Frenzy killed several people on Air Force One - Scorponok didnt even die after an airstrike hit him. - Barricade nearly killed Sam and put up a good fight against Bumblebee - Starscream took down a whole fleet of fighter jets and beat both Ratchet and Ironhide at once - Bonecrusher was completely fearless in taking on Optimus Prime, and actually got some good hits in. - Brawl only went down with the combined efforts of 4 Autobots *AND* the U.S. military - Megatron killed Jazz and actually beat Optimus Prime in a one-on-one fight, which is something no other character was able to do in the whole series
This is one of the many reasons why I'll always consider this movie the best of the ones made under Michael Bay. In the other ones the Decepticons essentially become reoccurring canon fodder with little-to-no character. Thankfully that wasn't the case with Bumblebee, which has, in my opinion, the best decepticon characters featured in the live action films.
@@foreignroninl1555 Honestly, my one and only complaint in the first film was the fact that megatron beat optimus 1v1. I think I read somewhere that others justified it being that optimus was holding back because people were around, which is why in revenge of the fallen, in the forest, he killed grindor, beat starscream with his own arm, and nearly killed megatron. I suppose that COULD work, but, idk, i just don't see megatron ever realistically beating optimus.
@@TheCajunTiger Megatron is as strong as optimus, and in the first film he was bigger and powerful. The second film, after he gets revived, he comes weaker duel to the fact that he no longer has a stronger body and use little of what the all-spark could offer. You can tell in the 3rd film, hes very rusty and pretty much broken apart, he is easily (not really) defeated by sentinel prime and optimus.
@@aim-9sidewinder550 yeah in the 3rd movie Megs became nothing more than Sentinel's bitch as Carly said which was one of my biggest complaints about DOTM
Looking back and watching this scene, it makes me actually fear the Decepticons. Here you have this seemingly normal helicopter flying into base, when suddenly it starts to shift at what might’ve been considered impossible angles to form this giant ass robot, and said giant ass robot start to blow the living hell out of the military base. Ruthlessly killing the soldiers there, as the soldiers see that their weapons are having seemingly no effect on it. Then later in the movie when Lennox sees Blackout land atop a building in mission city, his immediate reaction is one of dread. Makes you wonder where this was in the rest of the movies. That’s my opinion, don’t know it anyone else shares it.
Best part about this is that by then Lennox had already seen and survived encounters with multiple deceptions. I think he had even seen Megatron and Starscream at least once by then. He even knew that they could be hurt by their weaponry, but still Blackout triggered that certain PTSD like feeling in him which showed that even with tons of experience, there's nothing quite like that very first encounter.
@@Magnezone962 actually I originally shared the same thought as you, but if you saw the scene when Blackout got shot by Lennox at the chest, there were sever F15 raptor shooting missiles at Blackout chest as well.
This is why Blackout is one of, if not, my top favorite Bayverse transformer. He is the FIRST transformer we see in the Bayverse and his entrance/introduction is still the best.
ThaoN Vu I’m actually a junior in high school reminiscing old childhood memories on my free time. And you’re some miserable prick watching transformers hating on guys like me in the comment section for no reason. Grow up
Colonel Sharpe is an underrated character. In the face of overwhelming violence, caught completely by surprise, he had the BALLS to walk into that building to see what it was doing. And when he saw this walking nightmare scenario, taking information, he knew that couldn't be good and proactively did something about it.
when he says "CUT THE HARD LINE" and the soldier says "IT'S LOCKED I NEED A KEY" and he *GRABS AN AXE* to _literally_ cut the hard line, that's why he's in charge
@@vendetta3953 No, he died and Lenox's crew were the only survivors. The same actor just plays a different character with a different name in other movies.
Blackout is extremely methodical and determined…he only needed the Sector 7 data, and could care less about the people running around at the base. Hence the wanton destruction.
@@The_GK1 Good point. But I don't think secrecy in general was a goal for the rest of the Decepticons as Barricade and Starscream didn't really make an effort to be covert prior to reawakening Megatron.

Seeing this as a kid in theaters, when his machine guns start after the first blast he shoots, the whole theater was rumbbling. We all stood watch in awe as this monster, this machine, this decepticon came to life. Destroying everything with no remorse and nothing to stop him. Incredible moment 🔥
I think an unappreciated genius aspect of this scene is the fact that literally everyone watching this knew it was going to be a Transformer. In spite of that, they still managed to make the revelation impactful and as memorable as if you didnt know it was a Transformer at first
To this day, this scene is still absolutely terrifying. The amounthe of dread an confusement that these soldiers would have had in them would be immeasurable. An absolutely amazing way to start this movie.
It's funny since the decepticon was technically complying with all instructions, and so the soldiers broke the rules of engagement when he started transforming by shooting first, justifying all further action
He even complied to "have your crew step out", since he is the crew and just "stepped out" by transforming. Not that the end result wouldn't be the same, though. He needed the information, so they would've opened fire eventually when he tried to reach for it.
I didn't even notice that that's so terrifying transformers movies are so terrifying with robots turning people into bojes or water that guy in bumblebee died and turned into water and Chicagins bieng turned into bones is so scary sometimes Hasbro products could be scary
I remember playing the video game of this film. Blackout had that blast attack as his secondary weapon. You got medals on Decepticon missions for causing as much destruction as possible… it was very difficult to NOT get that medal whilst playing as Blackout
I loved the decepticons in this movie. They were smart enough to one disguise themselves as authority, Target information, take out Communication, and even try to take out loose ends. Their whole plan was sound.
Ironically, their plan was ruined once Megatron was thawed out of his ice prison cause his answer to problem is "FUCK IT WE BALL!!!" And basically ruined the undercover op the deception has been working on for decades lol
This scene has stuck with me ever since I first saw it as a kid. It's just the way the rotor stops on a dime, raises into the air and all blades relocate to the back. It is done so suddenly and so smoothly that it still takes me by surprise. The sounds it makes as it happens just sells the whole thing. The whole transformation is great, but that rotor, just the rotor's movement and sound alone gets you excited.
The thing that gets me about the opening of this movie is how non-confrontational Blackout is, at least at the start. He's fully compliant with all demands made of him: when ordered to follow the fighters to the base, he does so. When ordered to power down, he starts winding down his rotors. When ordered to reveal his crew, he starts transforming. He only opened fire once the soldiers started shooting at him. Kind of makes me wonder if Blackout's plan was something similar to Shatter and Dropkick's plan in Bumblebee, present himself as a member of an alien empire searching for a long-lost relic.
On this day in 2007, the world witnessed the spectacle of the first "Transformers" movie hitting theaters, igniting a wave of excitement among fans of the iconic robots in disguise. Directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg, the film brought the beloved Transformers characters to life with cutting-edge visual effects and adrenaline-pumping action sequences. Fans were thrilled to see Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and other favorite Autobots and Decepticons battling it out on the big screen in stunning detail. Buoyed by the overwhelming response to "Transformers," Paramount Pictures saw an opportunity to expand its cinematic universe and compete with industry giants like Disney, Warner Bros., and Sony, who were dominating the market with their Marvel and DC superhero franchises. In 2009, Paramount made bold moves to establish itself as a major player in the realm of cinematic universes. The announcement sent shockwaves through Hollywood, signaling Paramount's determination to carve out its own corner of the blockbuster landscape. With the success of "Transformers" under its belt and a wealth of beloved characters and stories to draw from, the studio set its sights on capturing the hearts and minds of audiences with epic tales of robots, heroes, and villains. In the years that followed, Paramount's Transformers universe continued to expand, delivering thrilling adventures, memorable characters, and jaw-dropping visuals to fans around the globe. While it faced stiff competition from the established superhero juggernauts, the Transformers franchise proved that it had staying power, captivating audiences with its timeless appeal and boundless imagination. As we reflect on the legacy of the first Transformers movie, we're reminded of the power of storytelling to transport us to worlds beyond our wildest dreams and unite us in shared excitement and wonder. Totally agree with everyone’s take in the comments regarding the tone of this scene. I’m all for the autobots and the franchise having its occasional goofiness/campiness when done right and sparingly, but when it comes to how they should have depicted the decepticons throughout the entirety of the bayverse, this scene should have been the framework for the rest of the series going forward. Say whatever you want about the BayFormers films, but this scene is legendary. When I first saw it on the big screen my mouth hit the floor and I remember that moment like it happened yesterday, it was like my wildest dreams came true on screen. It is one of my favorite memories and the best cinematic experience I've ever had.

Love bayformers they have the best looking transformer designs imo, the ppl that hate on the movies are the typical g1 transformers boomers, I mean nostalgic ppl u know those types of ppl can never accept new versions of anything and like to live under rocks.
Oh you're not alone the bayformers films are my childhood quite literally I grew up whatching these movies and this scene and when Optimus first transforms is the most nostalgic scenes for me
@@syunafrost351 Nah, bayformers designs were garbage for the most part.

Same 😢 feeling
Such a terrifying way to start this series! Blackout knew he was in control the entire time. He didn't have to rush his transformation because he knew that the humans couldn't do anything to stop him. The way Michael Bay led up to the siege was fantastic!
❤
This was the Jurassic Park of 2007
Back then NO ONE thought it was possible for a human truck, helicopter etc to transform into robots the size of buildings practically and while the franchise has suffered from too many explosions, juvenile humor and less than stellar acting the robots were always outstanding nm what they turned into.
I appreciate this comparison.
The CGI really held up and looks better than most movies today ( ahem MCU)
Funny thing is spielberg produced this lol
CGI/graphics classes in universities should have this as a turning point from lord of the rings style practical effects to cgi.
That's actually an outstanding comparison.

You are right in the first movie decepticons were very strong
And then in TLK they die the first fight they are in

Ah, back when the Transformers looked like the vehicles they turned into, nowadays they could be a car and turn into a robot that looks nothing like that car, EG: Lockdown

- Frenzy killed several people on Air Force One
- Scorponok didnt even die after an airstrike hit him.
- Barricade nearly killed Sam and put up a good fight against Bumblebee
- Starscream took down a whole fleet of fighter jets and beat both Ratchet and Ironhide at once
- Bonecrusher was completely fearless in taking on Optimus Prime, and actually got some good hits in.
- Brawl only went down with the combined efforts of 4 Autobots *AND* the U.S. military
- Megatron killed Jazz and actually beat Optimus Prime in a one-on-one fight, which is something no other character was able to do in the whole series
And after him getting his ass whoop in the forest and desert, he eventually even becomes weaker.
@@jackietang3789 well I understand you're complaining about it, but the fact is he got weaker for a reason and not because of poor writing.
Oh definently, this is the only watchable one in my opinion, the rest you can tell MB had complete control of the film
And he gets killed that easily by the same people Blackout destroyed in the beginning

Blackout is extremely methodical and determined…he only needed the Sector 7 data, and could care less about the people running around at the base. Hence the wanton destruction.
@@transfo47 Well actually he wanted zero witnesses. Hence why he obliterated the base and sent Scorponok after the survivors
@@The_GK1 Good point. But I don't think secrecy in general was a goal for the rest of the Decepticons as Barricade and Starscream didn't really make an effort to be covert prior to reawakening Megatron.
@@transfo47 because once megatron was awakened the battle was already won. Megatron only lost because of his arrogance and a surprise attack with the allspark.
@@transfo47 Starscream didn’t reveal himself until it was time to reawaken Megatron, when he transformed at Hoover Dam and destroyed the generators. Everything about this movie just hits home. Visuals, setting, sound effects, and characters, ect. It's just about perfect.
This scene was intense. Blackout was savage and arguably has the best transformation sequence.
When the captain said power down now and he did by transforming into its form.
I mean if you saw a helicopter turn into a giant robot with a full arsenal of weapons would you just stand there?
I mean he did say standby to engage lol
He even complied to "have your crew step out", since he is the crew and just "stepped out" by transforming. Not that the end result wouldn't be the same, though. He needed the information, so they would've opened fire eventually when he tried to reach for it.

The whole transformation is great, but that rotor, just the rotor's movement and sound alone gets you excited.
blackouts transformation is scary af
The movie was a massive success, smashing box office records and captivating audiences worldwide with its blend of sci-fi spectacle and human drama.
The studio announced ambitious plans to develop sequels, spin-offs, and interconnected stories set within the Transformers universe, aiming to create a vast and immersive franchise that would rival the likes of Marvel and DC.
And with Paramount's bold vision and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling, the future of the Transformers universe looks brighter than ever.

From the reader's point of view, or the Witwicky's points of view, it's more of an adventure, but this is the drama perspective of things. I would have loved to see an entire movie from this perspective rather than just having it end up as a B plot, the military trying to figure out how to fight these things. These are the scenes I keep coming back to years later. Heck, it's one of the tones the movies keep trying to come back to with Bumblebee.
