    I’ll take a BCA AR10 in .308 and buy a BCA 6.5 Creedmore upper. Problem solved. With BCA I can buy both for the price of one from other manufacturers.

    On down the road I’m probably going to build a 6.5 CM because I’d love to find a range with a 1000 yard target alley. I’ve hit targets at 500 yards with my 308 and for now I’m happy with that.

    Nice presentation. I have probably half a dozen full rifles and several more than that uppers from you guys.
    I'm in Johnston County, about 45 miles from you. They've planted a $400k+ housing development on almost every spot I've been hunting for 25 years.
    I have a Creedmoor from you, but it's overkill when I don't have anywhere to take a shot past 200 yards anymore.
    I have two Grendels and one (maybe 2) 7.62x39 from your company. With good ammo, even from an SBR, both are quite capable of deer at 150yds, much further with the Grendel.
    Both are Smaller. Lighter. Softer shooting. And at the possible ranges for shots in the swamps and across the few agricultural fields left, they're on par with the Creedmoor & 308.
    Looking to pick up an AR10 lower from your company as soon as I have funds in hand

    Good stuff, i too am a NC native, born and raised and i absolutely agree on the hunting style you have to do here. Everywhere i hunt is very dense and short range, 90 percent of my shots are within 70 yards. I keep wantin to try 6.5 ir 308 but i cant get away from 223/5.56. I have 5 uppers from you guys and all of them are gen 2 side chargers besides the 50 Beowulf, bein gen 1. I have 2, 450 bushmaster uppers, the 50, and 2, 5 56 uppers. Out of the bunch, my favorite hunting rifle to date is my 20 inch side charging 5.56 rig, suppressed with just a red dot and an a2 fixed stock. Some of my buddies call it my tactical musket lol but holy smokes! She just runs and performs so damn well and accurate as hell. I havent lost a single animal with it. Ive killed beavers, coyotes and whitetail with it. Including this past year i killed my first piebald buck, he was an 8 pointer, about 160 pounds, and OLD. He had to be pushin 6 to 8 years old or better, all his teeth were wore down to the gums. Such a cool deer, and awesome rifle.

    It always kinda strange that nobody considers the 7mm-08. Shoots almost as flat as 6.5 and can use up to a 180-195 gr bullet although a 160-165 gr would be best.

  • @bstevens7647
    @bstevens7647 2 года назад +2

    Interesting comparison, but you may have picked a slow .308 vs a quick 6.5 Creedmore with a long barrel. A 20" 149 gr. Creedmore is about 2600 fps, whereas the .308 is more like 2800 fps. High fives for the .308. Hornady lists their 150 gr .308 inter bond and sst at 3000fps. At this speed .308 walks right by the 6.5 Creedmoor in energy all the way to just short of 500yds. And no almost one kills large animals at 500 yds with an ar10, so energy is moot and bullet drop is just a scope dope function. Creedmore ammo is big bucks, like 57.00 a box in small Texas towns, .308 can be had cheap almost anywhere. If a shooter just wants long range , Ar10 in .243 smokes a Creedmore. Just ask John Widden. If a shooter wants it all, an ar10 in 6.5 PRC is the real deal.

    Why did you go with the dpms style? These uppers won't fit on a PSA AR 10 or will they .? I'm looking to buy a 6.5 because I have a bolt already but I should have went 308 it's sooo much cheaper.!

    I am waiting on another 22" Bull-barrel Creedmoor side-charger upper, but always out of stock. Please build. Maybe take a cue from Hornady and Nosler and make a 24". It's what I really want. P.S. adding a gas shut-off to the side charger makes a nice side-cocking bolt action out of the AR. Stupid accurate.

    I have both uppers, as well as a 243 and 260. I shoot the 6.5 CM and the 243 the most. The 260 is nearly irrelevant since I have the 6.5 upper but I put it together because I found the 22" barrel for $80 and now I have just a little more versatility if ammo becomes even more scarce than it is. That said, 99% of what I shoot are my reloads and since it costs less to reload the 6.5 CM and uses the same bullets, the 260 has essentially no place in my arsenal but I have no plans to sell it. I do shoot the 308 a good bit and it's the one I usually hunt with because it's lighter(16" barrel and compact scope with no bipod or accessories). It's also the cheapest to reload because 30 cal projectiles are everywhere for very little cost. For me, and for mostly target shooting, I'd rank them 243, 6.5 CM, 308 and then 260. For hunting medium game it would be 308, 6.5, 260, 243.

      @@jmgates09 You can buy 7-08 AR10 barrels and build one. It isn't hard or expensive. I have a 7-08 bolt gun and see no benefit over the 6.5 CM or 308 Win. I might build one eventually just because I have lots of brass and 284 bullets aren't hard to get but I'd have to find the barrel for less than $100.

      That's basically what the 308 already is. Look at the versus ballistics.

  • @SpiritualHQ333
    @SpiritualHQ333 2 года назад

    .308 is readily available but 6.5 give better ballistics coefficient meaning less effect by wind drift.

  • @BuckFoeJiden
    @BuckFoeJiden 2 года назад +1

    I'm a bigger fan of the 308, honestly. The 308 seems to hold up better on the windage side of things with those heavier pills. There's also decades of logged ballistics data behind the 308.
    They're both very capable rounds. 308 also has more longevity in the throat and chamber of your barrel.

    .308 trumps 6.5 400yards and under 6.5 stands out 400 and up ! But .308 is proven and battle tested.
