    I’ve wanted the digitized 3D era for so long. I remember seeing MK2 in the arcades for the first time and hearing the soundtrack. FIGHT!!!

    Ed Boon is a lot like George Lucas. He doesn't understand why the original trilogy was so popular. All he understands is being a carny salesman. MK9 is pretty much like the special editions of the original Star Wars trilogy but for MK Trilogy. Not understanding what made the originals popular is why both the prequel Star Wars trilogy and the 3D era of Mortal Kombat is so hit or miss. People who grew up with it will always love it, those of us who were aging out of MK at time knew it wasn't the true MK we loved, but it's aged alright and we have nostalgia for it now because of how bad the NRS Era has been. Same with Star Wars. The prequels are loved now in comparison of the new Disney stuff because of how awful the Disney Star Wars has been. George said he sold Lucas Film and Star Wars to "white slavers" when Disney bought it. Same thing happened to MK when Midway closed and Warner Bros. took over and the monster that is NRS was created. We're never gonna get back to either of these great franchises' roots under Warner Bros. or Disney. They have their evil emperor overlords too and the likes of Ed Boon and George Lucas have lost control and are just sell out stooges now. Someone said it great. These aren't the games and movies and tv shows we love anymore. They are being used as skin suits.

    Think John Tobias cringes hard when he sees the state of modern MK?

      I think he’s super disappointed for sure. If I’m not mistaken, Tobias is the one who came up with the design of the game - the characters, lore, and artwork. Boon was the programmer that took it over essentially.
      The game has just undergone so many changes that it doesn’t even feel like a MK anymore. The story has no direction, it never evolved into a high level, balanced fighter either. It would be one thing if the story went off into these weird directions or had this massive facelift in the design of the game but it never became a fighting game the general crowd could take serious as a competitive fighter. Just because people compete in it doesn’t make it balanced btw, NRS games are considered a joke by the Asian audience.
      However, it would be fair to just judge MK on its lore and they’ve ruined it. The new MK is absolutely horrible in terms of where the story went. You can just tell they have zero direction or passion for the game.
      All NRS cares about is their public image and money. 95% of their staff is DEI hires. They couldn’t program their way out of a paper bag if their lives depended on it.

    UMK3. When combos and true juggles were introduced. One of the greatest fighting games ever made. Remember when UmK3 was on the Xbox Marketplace ? 😢 *Trilogy played like UMk3 so I agree TRILOGY IS THE PINNACLE

    I never grew up with these games like many others did. But I do prefer the beautiful simplicity of the move sets over the 3d era and modern games more. I'm also a big music guy, and hearing that classic music makes me feel like I have been there since the start, even knowing I wasn't.

    • @justfitz08
      @justfitz08 Месяц назад

      They're great for nostalgia trips, but the games had to move forward. No one would play mk2 or umk3 indefinitely, no matter how good the graphics are made.
      Though their are arguments to be made about mk's lack of legacy. Sf has a true legacy. Ryu hardly changes much from game to game outside of universal system changes. Sub zero, however, can be wildly different from game to game.

    Fate if you want to be honest about things.
    Please do a video about John Tobias because no fanboy wants to discuss Tobias' Studio Gigante and both his flops WrestleMania 21 and his Fighter Tao Feng.
    Because that actually a real conversation worth making content for.

    This is your best video to date. An answer to all your critics who can only say "get good" or "move on." No, you people don't understand the soul of Mortal Kombat and Ed Boon souled out. We old school fans are the reason this game is still around 30 years later. You guys don't understand the countless arcade games and fighting games that were around then and never made it big. Our passion for the true essence of this game is what made it a cultural phenomenon. We made this series big in the arcades, with our neighborhood friends, in whispered conversations at schools and at the malls. This fake shilling on social media now by paid influencers and the suck ups defending them and NRS didn't make this game and are barely keeping it alive. Hell they are killing it obviously. I am going to show this video to my 3D era born with nephews so they can understand our 2D arcade era's greatness.

    Isn't it ironic that they develop these fighting games now to be watered down and easy access for newcomers with modern inputs and all of that, but when you really take a step back and look at something like Mortal Kombat 1-3 for example, those games are far more entry/beginner level friendly than MK 2024 is. Same could be said of Street Fighter.
    It's mostly because the basics are easily understandable and are universal for every character, the high level gameplay comes from people who know how to use the mechanics of the game to their advantage with said character.
    Mortal Kombat's identity as far as gameplay, art direction and story is concerned its just so dead right now and I don't think we will ever get it back. MK II will always be my favorite the sound and the atmosphere for that game was amazing, but MK Trilogy was the sickest version there was.

    I'm just wondering, WHY nobody who worked with me off of California/Roscoe never comes on RUclips videos ??
    The closest I got to a co-worker from Williams/Midway would be Kerri - Sonya Blade
    After Mortal Kombat Trilogy = Midway stopped caring and WB took something and made it into a joke

    I agree. But sometimes when you have overdose of those retro MK games, you wanna play something different. And that is when other MK games come in to help you out and entertain you. Except MK11 and MK1. AND MK Mythologies with MK Special Forces. Outside of those 4 games, other MK games is fun to play. But yeah, I understand you. I love to play classic MK games from time to time. Be it original arcade games, home ports or mugen games.

    I've watched Mike Hollow's pathetic hit piece on you, as well as Rag's while you were under the moniker of Infinite Retro. Thought it was trash and commented it. Used to watch Rags but I did notice he punched down on some folks, while Hollow appeared as hypocrite. Play what you like and say what you want about it regardless of what anyone says. I've paid full price for every Mortal Kombat game except the original (my Dad got me the sweaty SNES cart version) & witnessed arcade play by older kids. You're a true fan and a Legacy player & while I do not agree with all your takes, I can say the real reason you piss off the "pro" horde is because they can't take that away from you.
    It's not the same now as it was then and they struggle to have that but will never see it the same way we did. Thanks for the videos, Kano

    Remaster MK Trilogy but rebalance by removing broken things like noob saibot's infinite and kara jabs, with remastered graphics. Or even remaster MK1 or MK2 with no gameplay changes. Would probably shit on everything that's been released since deadly alliance.

    Fate ur livin in the past man. The issue with the 1st 4 mk games is if you take out the special moves.. EVERY. CHARACTER. IS. EXACTLY. THE. SAME. ALL their normal attacks are identical, every character is the same height, width, same hitbox, where as in street fighter for example everyone has slightly different normals ON TOP of the special moves. Chun li/zangief/dhalsim are entirely different in terms of normals and size special moves aside. Special moves were the only thing to differentiate the characters in early mk because there was no depth anywhere else. And even early SF had more than just lp lk hp hk. I dont know if MKs legacy gameplay can hold up in this day & age where even granblues simplicity has more depth than old mk.

      @notshane3827 Месяц назад +4

      lol what? I dunno about MK/MK4 but in MK2/MK3(UMK3 MKT) the characters are definitely not the exact same even if you remove their special moves, each character has their own hitboxes/attack range, walking speed and throws. And in MK3, each character has their own individual combo sequences(even the pallete swap characters). Nobody plays Sheeva because she's tall and gets easily comboed by any character, everybody plays Human Smoke because he's a faster Scorpion with a launcher combo. Their differences may be more subtle than those of SF2 characters but they're definitely not the exact same.

    I think MK11 nailed the level of realness the game should have going forward (except the 300 movie style blood). There's no baseline for uncanny valley in MK1 - Reptile looks exactly like his face model but Cage looks like a Daz character.
