@kevinboy562 I think it just melts the sugar and slings it out. He's also done candy corn which I would have thought would have been too waxy to work. He has also done root beer barrels since I initially posted that comment. I'd actually posted the root beer barrel comment on several videos and he finally did it. So you can search that one. He said it was surprisingly menthol scented but still tasted like root beer candy.

If it’s hard candy, you can make cotton candy out of it. We had a home machine and used worthers, jolly ranchers, life savers, and more. Used a spice grinder to get them to powder.
My Grandads would love this as would I as my Grandads would always give me them when I got to spend time with them. R.I.P Ernest and Jack. Love and miss you both dearly.
My late grandmother in law introduced me to these candies and it's been a long time since I've had one, I might grab myself a bag the next time I go grocery shopping.
On the old place he tested it (boiled down the soda to a hard-crack stage) and it actually worked, and any non-diet soda was found to work (be it a sugar-sweetened soda like I drink due to fructose malabsorption, or a HFCS-sweetened soda you often find for cheaper). I recommend going out and buying a sizable amount of soda for this just in case you mess up boiling. Cane sugar soda is the most faithful to real cotton candy sugar in terms of composition.
I don’t like cotton candy but I’d probably like that because I love werther’s. I’ve loved them since I was a kid, my dad always had a pack in his truck.
strawberry ones wont work unless they can dehydrate the liquidy creamy centers , then powder the whole thing , would be intresting to try though , but i dont think it would work . has to be solid hard candies or already powdered candies ( like dip ems , powdered koolaid with suagr already added etc)
@@snarky4lyfe144 I thought those candies didn’t have a liquid filling. Normally I imagine candies that have a liquid filling to be more expensive. It has been years since I had one though so I might be mistaken.
I'd like to suggest Cavendesh & Harvey. I know it works, but it works better than literally anything else in our own dinky little machine that doesn't work with crushed up or powdered candies/sugar. You can mix and match all sorts of flavors from their repertoire and is in my opinion the perfect cotton candy candy
@@Preinstallablecough drops are not candy.... yet i also want to see if riccola will work. but actually the sugarfree candy idea seems really cool. unlike the sugar based candies which will pretty much always successfully floss, there actually is a scientific question here; literally *will* sugarfree turn into floss? it's worth trying at least
Celebrations Twist-A-Rific Tutti Frutti Flavored Rainbow Twist Lollipops, please try these ! would be awesome to have rainbow cotton candy ( i know the color wont be there and it would just taste like tuti fruti , maybe) lol

Grind Jolly Ranchers Green Apple and then add to the cotton candy machine with the caramel. Caramel Apple Cotton Candy without the mess!!!
alternatively there are , in fact, caramel apple suckers ! soft caramel though so it would not work in the machine , i love your idea !
Genius.
The caramel apple Werther's are super amazing for that
Jolly ranchers clogged my machine first time,, are you setting people up for failure

The one I've been waiting for. You're the best Nate.
Werthers are my favorite candy. I seriously didn't think this would work
My late grandmother in law introduced me to these candies and it's been a long time since I've had one, I might grab myself a bag the next time I go grocery shopping.
Thanks, Nate! So happy to see this works!
I’m so happy this works. I need a cotton candy machine now.
Omg yes! This would be 1 of my favorites. You would think more places would do this. Like at parks and events and such.
Werther’s are my favorite brand of caramel candy so I would love to try this
So many people are going to start doing this at fairs and carnivals.
That was my thought for sure. I'm sure you can pick up a second hand cotton candy blower cheap enough and set up.
That looks AMAZING!
After getting some true bangers from these experiments, you should open up a booth and let people choose the candy they want cotton-ized.
The content never knew I needed
What about Coca-Cola and Pepsi? Reduce the soda down then dehydrate them.

Since you've done Werther's, you should try their caramel apple candies.

I've had toxic waste and those make for great sour cotton candy. The main issue was it left a lot of residue on the machine that would get burnt.
