    Fun fact: in case you didn't notice normally Whispers in the Dark (which was one of my first Skillet songs too having heard it on The Rock radio station) is played in the dark green pitch (I view different pitches as colors just fyi) but here even though it started dark green during the cello part, once the other instruments kicked in it went right down to dark-ish blue, the same pitched used for the acoustic version of the song.
    As for the cello player, I hadn't really thought about it before but you're right, he disappeared after his part was done. Maybe he wasn't allowed to be on stage with all of them due to regulations or rules or whatever I don't know, but normally he does stay on stage and I believe he does come back later on in this concert, so if you view more of Skillet @ Pinkpop know that this isn't the last you'll see of him.
    2/7/2022 EDIT: Having watched a few more live performances of this song I conclude that whenever the strings are out it's only for the beginning part as the song itself normally doesn't use strings, hence why they vanish afterwards.

      Never heard someone think of pitches as colors before. That's interesting

    • @Flash33c

      Yep. It's just something I've always done, though some specific pitches are more difficult to assign a color to than others.@@xkc740

      @@Flash33c so you can actually recognize different pitches? like you have a different color for A, A#, B, C, etc.?

    • @Flash33c
      @Flash33c 5 месяцев назад

      Yes I can recognize different pitches. As for the different keys it depends on the song. It's worth noting that I do play piano/keyboard but have never had a music lesson in either (I play by ear).@@xkc740

      @@xkc740 I'm not too familiar with the different keys specifically but yes, in general different songs have different pitches and colors to me. Two more examples are by Falling Up with their songs Escalates (yellow) and Exhibition (orange).

    Skillet does use pyro and fog throughout the concerts. They have hydrolic lifts for the guitarists to “rise up” on and even Jen has hydrolics on her drum stage that moves her around. So, they do put out some money on their shows.
    As for Korey, if she cared, would come out at the same time as John or Jen. But she was out with Seth, who is not as well known to audiences. I however, think he is completely underrated as a guitarist because he is tremendously talented. So, I don’t think she cares one way or the other. But, she’s great too. Awesome band.

    Oh my gosh dude, you notice such niche things. I felt really bad for Kory after your take. Like you said she is probably the most important cog in the band, she also does the songwriting feels bad man:( Love your takes!

    So right off the top on this yeah ... poor Corey ... but everyone loves Jen! Even you say there's my girl. They didn't pop for Seth either. But Jen and John are the singers, and John as the front man of the band and Jen, well is not only an amazing singer, that plays drums at the same time, but also has her solo stuff. Corey is amazing and does so much for the band, and was a big help with Jen on her solo stuff, besides writing and helping to produce Skillet songs, and controlling the tracking and keyboards, guitar, and background vocals occasionally. This is a pre-Jen song, and therefore no harmonies with John on this song. But still a great song!

      I actually never mention any of the bands names that I'm in, because I don't want people thinking that I'm using the channel as a promotional tool for my bands. I will say, people have found my bands by using Google, and they did confirm with me in private that what they found was one of my bands. If you choose to search for any of them that's fine....all I ask is if you do manage to find any of them, please don't mention their names on the channel.

    Ha thats funny, the festival (Pinkpop) is from my country (The Netherlands). Never heard the song or the band before, but i have to say I quite liked IT. The song is quite catchy with the chorus and riff. Also liked the little solo there. I would give the song something like an 8, but the messy live sound subtracts 0.5 points. The sound of the instruments sometimes seem to drown and cling together. Is the cello just the live opener? Felt like it had nothing to do with the song.

    • @Flash33c
      @Flash33c 3 года назад +1

      During live performances whenever Whispers in the Dark is the opener the Cello and Violin players often duo the first pre-chorus and chorus until Jon (lead singer) finishes shouting "Make some noise", then they often go to the background and continue there, so Cello not doing so here is more of an outlier. The song normally doesn't feature much in the way of strings (just guitars, piano, drums and vocals), but there are other songs during live shows that feature the strings more often.

      Naaaaaah...BUT....funny story, I did use an article from Playboy as a reference for my high school term paper based on the comedic style of Mark Twain and its impact on American society and culture. Needless to say, I did get a very questioning look from my English teacher in regards to it.

    I lost a lot of respect when John started pretending to play bass for some songs while completely abandoning it for others and just leaving it on a track.
    It cheapens the show so much.

    I went through all your videos brother and I'm really surprised you haven't done any gojira! Unless of course you're already a fan and don't need to do first time reactions. If you haven't, I think you should begin with either the 'From Mars to Sirus' album or 'L'Enfaunt Sauvage'. Check out Explosia. This is the first song from their L'Enfaunt Sauvage album.

      There are a couple of requests for Gojira in the que, but not for that particular song...so it would have to be a fresh request. You can suggest songs on here, and if your suggestion happens to already be in the que, I am more than happy to add your name to the requesters of that song. However in order to make fresh brand new requests, you have to be a Bronze Tier member on the Patreon page. It's only $5 per month and you can make fresh requests, along with watch all the videos I've done that RUclips blocked and participate in Patreon community events and enjoy exclusive content for Patreon members only.

    David, they usually only use the strings on this song for the live intro if they’re opening with this number... my only peeve in these latest years is they perform this in a lower key... I think doing it in Drop D or A, it loses “that energy” it has on the album... with that being said they use to perform this in the original key and it sounds like it had more life in it... just IMO.....
