Fun fact: because the music video for the song monster had some story in it, they decided to make this a sequel to it😁
They did a whole reverse. There music videos became a concept. Which made their songs become concepts. I fucking love it tbh

“The more I listen the more I’m getting hooked” that’s exactly how it was for me with this song. The first time I heard it I was like, meh but not bad. Then after hearing it live a couple times it grew on me and now I love it.
Would love to see you do “Victorious”. It’s a ballad so you really get to hear Jen and John do their thing. The best they’ve ever sounded together if you ask me. Great video as always🤘🏼

I was going to suggest the same thing(like just to watch obviously not suggested. It's just an interesting 11 minute video). It does explain a lot and then you got the band talking about things like the fight scene with them talking about hoping they don't hurt anyone. Then you have like right after that Jen saying she accidentally kicked someone's lip and got sand in someone's eyes lol. The swat team featured was the actual local police swat team in the town they filmed it in too. I don't usually find behind the scenes for music videos interesting. But that one was.
But yeah it is a sequel to the Monster video too. Including bringing the former guitarist Ben(I believe he produced this video) as his role as the head doctor(though there is no explanation as to Jen's doctor character from Monster and her character here. It's a nitpick i know lol.)
love this song, easily in my top 10 favorite Skillet songs, probably creeping towards the top 5 honestly. I love listening to the album Unleashed when I'm driving, the final song is of course The Resistance but when it goes back to the beginning and starts over the first two songs are Feel Invincible and this one. I can't think off the top of my head of another album that can put three BANGERS back to back to back like that. The one time I saw Skillet live they played this song, as I'm sure you can imagine with the amount of energy this song carries it was NUTS live.

@@apec335 yeah I found it ... after I asked ... so what's next??? Lol ... live versions of Hero and or Monster? As I believe has heard both songs. And he did react to a cover of Monster. Something older? Something from Awake? Rise? .... 🤔
@@kellystrickland7412 even if we do request, it’s confirmed to be over a year long wait 😭. So I’ve stopped requesting. And I think there is still some skillet and ledger and fight the fury on their still, so it’s still waitable 😊
@@apec335 a year long wait now??? Wow, but yeah at least there is that fact that some songs in the pipeline. Remember when we were among the few followers and he did a few Skillet songs in short order? At least we got a few in early lol. Glad that he's got lots of followers now and that he still doing Skillet songs, even if it's a longer wait.

I’m not even going to give my full review, but I am giving the score.
9.8/10. Back From The Dead has THE best chorus out of ANY Siillet song. It’s fast paced, puts you in a mood to get up and jam to it, and the lyrics along with the power in John’s voice makes it so much better.
The vocals carried more so than any other song on Skillet.
3rd favorite song of all time.
its hard to put a finger on why its good. the hook is just fantastic. the whole alternating lead and backup vocals "BACK back BACK back BACK FROM THE DEAD TONIGHT!" just makes you feel like you could take on the world and thats really a consistant theme of skillet's music going back 15-20 yrs is the positivity and empowerment for the listener. i know that sounds corny as hell. but its just hardcore music with positive feelings. sometimes i'm in the mood for black sabbath, sometimes im in the mood to hear John Cooper scream "full of love full of life full of fight cuz i'm back from the dead tonight!" similar themed tracks are "not gonna die" and "awake and alive" would love to hear your reaction to those songs

Like most of the comments when I first heard it I wasn’t super impressed but pandora kept insisting I listen to it. Now I jam the heck out of it! Also, if you’re a novel/comic book fan skillet has their own line of novels/comic books.
You know by now i consider Jen my favorite musician and how much i love her voice. But this song is one of the ones without Jen i still enjoy a lot. I do miss her voice. But like you say it isn't always going to be a duet type song. She still sounded amazing on the drums

This song live especially from live videos from Volt Fest John gets the crowd going with this rocker.
Story wise it definitely has a zombie feel with zombies on the inside and the police on the outside with ordinary civilians (band members in this case) trying to stay alive, which makes it more interesting when you consider the fact that it's a continuation from Monster (MNSTR Labs being where Korey and Jon escaped from and Jon flashing back to there in a nightmare). Not many bands have an interconnected story in songs or music videos across multiple albums, with the only others I can think of being Red and Falling Up (though the latter isn't known for music videos).
Song wise I have to agree that Jen wouldn't make sense to sing here normally given the overall tone and feel of the song. Fun fact: when performed live it's often in a lower pitch (a dark shade of red) than here (a dark shade of blue). I view different pitches as different colors in my mind, so if that comparison seems weird then that's why.
I'm wondering if Skillet got some of the ideas for this from Family Force 5, another Christian group from a few years back. There song "Zombie" has that "back from the dead" phrase done in a similar way. Video is a little goofy, but catchy tune I think. Maybe check it out with relation to this song. Hey david, there is a song from them called victorious, and its one of those sonfs that really showcases what john and jen's voice can do when singing together
