Seger has never written a bad song……a million hits
a few years back, i was working at a casino, and was friends with one of the security guards, a young man in his early twenties. the casino had a classic rock service for background music. one day, "mainstreet" came on and i exclaimed how much i loved bob seger. my friend said he had never heard his music before. i laughed and told him, "actually you have. and what's more, i bet you love his music." he just shrugged and laughed. for the next three weeks, every time a bob seger song would start playing (night moves, old time rock and roll, turn the page, like a rock, still the same, the list seems endless), i would stop whatever i was doing and go to my friend and say, "you hear this song? it's bob seger." and he would say, "i LOVE this song!" of course he did; bob seger's music permeates american pop culture, not just in pop music, but in commercials, movies, tv shows, video games, even as samples in other artist's works. you're soaking in bob seger, the voice of america.
I dunno... "Long Twin silver Line" was lyrically and conceptually pretty uninteresting, objectively speaking. 🤔
@@jeffreymeyer4848 yes, and occasionally babe ruth struck out. a mis-step doesn't negate the man's contribution to american music.
A Marathon is required!!! Bob is Americana! Keep going and have your mind blown!
The greatest "rock poet" ever... 🎶 ❤️
Absolutely
You could never mistake Bob Segers voice that raspy soulful resonanance that defies you to turn the page.
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. "Turn The Page" is my favorite by him. But he had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight", "Old Time Rock & Roll" etc.
I thought this was my favorite, but there are so many favorites.
Love this sound. We all grew up together.
If you really want to hear Bob's range, listen to the the song Bo Didley off the same album
Rodney Crowell wrote 'shame on the moon'
Bob is an icon!! "like a rock" is a song of his that is so.powerful Chevrolet used it for years in their truck commercials!!
I remember those commercials.
What you are hearing is not violins but Alto Reed on the sax. He was a master. Seger is one of, if not the best song writer in rock. If you jump down the rabbit hole that is his catalogue you will see what I'm talking about
I drove a huge Penske moving truck loaded up to the brim. Here's a young mom of 32, just divorced from the love of my life of 15 yrs. Getting ready to drive this huge truck all the way back home to California from upper Northern Pennsylvania. First time I'll be driving this upper route, and not one ounce of fear, or apprehension. Myself, my 12 yr old son, 9 yr old daughter and our two little chihuahuas Mandy & Snooker. After working and saving for 6 solid months this was in 1992 we were off to the wild blue yonder. I remember my parting words to my kids as we were pulling out, (keep your eyes on the road ahead, and (DONT LOOK. BACK!!) We were all dealing with a lot of mixed emotions, my two kids were leaving the only man they'd ever loved, their dad. Wouldn't you know that just as we were leaving the state of PA and crossing into Ohio the rain started coming down by the bucket loads, a torrential downpour,we passed many vehicles pulled off the highway while i stayed close behind a diesel truck. The rain slowed way down and continued the rest of the night. We had a long ride ahead of us and were in no hurry. That was the shortest & fastest state id ever driven through, a little over 200 miles, Indiana, Illinois, i counted 11 states in total. I continued to stay behind diesel trucks the majority of the entire trip. We were in the Rockie Mountains somewhere in Colorado, it was pitch dark, and very late. The truck id been following all day put on his blinker, as we passed the rest area sign he turned in, and I also turned in. There were few travelers here at this reststop, so it was easy enough to find a great pull-through. Everyone was exhausted. My kids asked, where will we sleep? I said, see that big tree & picnic table? Right fhere where its flat and has grass. My son's eyes got wide, he blinked like 4 times real fast, gulped, then looked at me and pointed and said, there. Yep, sure is. I quickly zipped our two huge sleeping bags together, grabbed our pillows, the kids crawled in, and i took the dogs to do their duty, put them back in the truck locked the doors, crawled into the sleeping bag, when my daughter said, "I'm cold I said, no your not, your in the middle. Go to sleep.. We awoke with dew covering our sleeping bag, we hurried to the restrooms. Gathered up our things and off we went. 3000 MILES, in 3 DAYS NEVER GOT LOST ONCE!! A TRIP TO REMEMBER FOR SURE! AS WE CROSSED OVER INTO CALIF, MY SON ASKED IF I WAS GOING TK PULL OVER? I TOLD HIM THAT I WASN'T PLANNING ON IT WHY. HE WENT ON TO TELL ME, REMEMBER THAT YOU TOLD GRAMMY THAT WHEN WE GOT TO CALIF, THAT YOU WERE GOING TO PULL OVER, GET OUTTA THE TRUCK AND KISS THE GROUND? I ROLLED MY EYES AND SAID, SON, I WOULD BUT I'M TO STIFF AND TIRED TO, NOW RUB MY KNEE ITS KILLING ME. WE ALL LAUGHED. THANKS FIR ALLOWING ME TO SHARE IN MY ROAD TRIP 🫠
He was a refuge from disco in the 70s. Amazing artist
Seeger😢 is just a tremendous songwriter musician. His music has such depth . Such a gun slinger of a Rock Star
Great song writer....His library is great
Every thing he did was pure gold.
Love Bob Seger! "Still the Same" and "Against the Wind" are favs.
play like a rock he wrote it and a car commerical used it and i love it ♥
"Roll me away",& "Come to poppa"
Great analogy as always "mugs"
One of my favorites from Bob is come to poppa. He really is a great song writer and singer.
Bob is an amazing writer and singer. He goes all over map with his music. Blues, soul, rock, and even a little jazzy like we heard here. Ramblin Gamblin Man I believe is one of his first big hits. It's either 68 or 69 when it was released. One of his more soulful songs touched ever so gently with a rock tempo. IDK WTH I'm talking about. The song is fire!! That's what I know.😂😂Peace, Mugs
Bob Seger🔥🔥🔥🔥
You know what i like about your channel? You didn't just react at the end, you pay attention in the moment, you dig it and dig INTO it. Very much enjoy watching you experience the music i grew up with, even when you didn't like it sometimes.
Good for you on making your move, dude! I have driven all over this vast and beautiful Country of ours, from Key West, FL all the way up to Springfield, MA and out to the west coast including Huntington Beach/Anaheim and the Bay Area of CA. I live in the Augusta, GA area these days, back "home" to where I grew up and graduated from high school in 1989. Love this song, and many more of Bob's catalog - rabbit hole, for sure, my friend. Rock on!
Drove (with my boat of course) from Austin/Central Texas to Key West and back a couple years ago for a destination wedding!!!! It’s a hell of a trip!!!! Good times though!!! So says Austin Tx!!! 😎🍸
Bob has a tremendous catalog..My Sister&I loved this man his music blasted in our house on those big stereo speakers(when our parents were gone) lol we rocked the neighborhood while we could!! 🔥🔥
I was 10 years old and my Dad knew someone who worked as security guard for this concert and I asked him if he would get us tickets for my birthday and it was arranged and security brought us to the first row I even had a purple ribbon that said VIP. My parents played music for me from the day I was brought home and I had a radio in my room so I don't have a time in my life that I wasn't surrounded with music. When he did this song and every song it was rocking. I loved it so much I walked around for weeks with a smile and I was hooked on concerts . I've seen at least fifty bands in my life and watching you guys react to the great artists from back in the day warms my heart. Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
I'm Northwest Florida and I've had the air go out I sympathize with you. Stay hydrated thank you for another great reaction
Ha lol, you ever drive from Florida to Texas being a Long Haired White Rocker in the Day😁
You need to go down the rabbit 🐇 hole thats Bob Segar hes an an amazing singer songwriter out of Detroit! Great reaction loved ❤it can't wait to see more!
Love people reacting to songs for the first time, especially when it’s a genre that isn’t their top choice. Another great one!
I always like your reactions to music! Your take on them is usually spot on. Wishing you many blessings.
Saw him in concert back in the day. 😊 Those the days.
Yeah Bob Seger's great that gave me a happy happy feeling
So many great songs of his for you to discover! Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂
Man Mugnify you are on a roll with these bangers.. can't go wrong with this❤❤
You already know!
Several times in my life I have driven from PA to MN, IA, NB, WI, AZ, TX, GA, DE, NC SC, WVA, NJ, NY & CT. 7 years ago, I drove from PA to the NW corner of WA. 4 days 800-1000 miles a day. (I am not a truck driver) That is a tenor saxophone. This song was my anthem on those nights, at 4am, on interstate 80 just nothing but fields of snow, or corn for hours.
His storytelling plays a 3-D movie in your head!
Shaken off the cold, going into a diner, restaurant. Is that a woman or a man, is when he had long hair, seeing him ftom the back. OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL, is one of my favorites, but all of his songs are great, hard to really have a favorite. ❤Turn the Page" is about the emotional and social ups and downs of a rock musician's life on the road. 😂
Lots of beautiful music out there. This is one.
Black Night....a great deep track for this band. Great beat on this song.
Great reaction!
Great.song. such a classic
Ain't no violins in the Silver Bullit Band. Keep digging into Bob. He's a national treasure.
But there is on this song.
@@FredPena-rd5cf Look up the Live Bullet album and tell me who's playing the violin at that show. I'll wait.
@@joelwatts5260 yeah live. I get it.
My favorite Bob Seger tune and probably the one most people would consider to be his signature song. 😊
Awesome Live .. seen him twice.
That's an Alto Saxophone. I Played that for Years in a Band. 🎷
Bob Seger - vocal, electric piano Chris Campbell - bass Alto Reed - saxophone Drew Abbott - guitar Charlie Allen Martin - drums Robyn Robbins - mellotron
Album: Live Bullet (Capitol, 1976).
Katmandu, Let It Rock, & Beautiful Loser from the Live Bullet album
The video of this live performance is amazing too!
Thanks man, always appreciate this one 😎👍❤️
There is not a violin in this song at all, yes there is a saxophone.
Fantastic lyrics!!
Great song and reaction
Great show Jacksonville, FL 77
HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS Mugs!!
So many great songs from Seger. Fast paced, great music "Betty Lou's Gettin Out Tonight".
Alto Reed played sax with Bob since 1972, sadly Alto passed away in 2021. He was a sax player with a lead guitarist attitude.
Gotta love a good road trip!!
Even though this is a slow song, Bob still rocks!! You're so right that Bob has the true soul to make any of his songs FIRE! 🔥 Others have listed Bob's many hits and I do love this one and Hollywood Nights ❤ Check it out for another 🔥. Great reaction Mugs!!
Great review and a great one to choose. Can’t go wrong with anyone of his songs.
Hell yeah!
Great songwriter and singer. This is just one of many
My brother and I drove from ft worth to key west florida, way more than 16 hours.
Sax player is Alto Reed.
Love this song. Check out Like A Rock.
Feel like a number, sunspot baby he has so many

Night Moves ❤🎉
If you want a soul filled song from Bob, check out his cover of Little Drummer Boy 1989 with the movie clips.😂❤ guarantee goosebump city😂

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The “violin” may actually be a synthesizer or keys of some kind.
Got to stay in Bobs Rabbit Hole!!
❤
Great reaction to an amazing song!!!
🔥
Yeah man, just stay on the Seger train. Songwruters hall of fame, rock and rill hall of fame. Theres 150 amazing songs in his rabbit hole
The video is great
If you really want to hear his range, listen to the song Bo Didley off the same live album
For good saxophone, nothing beats Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed.
🤟
Yes that's a saxophone
RIP Alto Reed
Sax baby
Have you checked out Metalicas cover of this song? If not, it's a must do.
I've seen Bob 3 times in concert, always great!! However, it's a sax. :)
All of those sounds you were hearing were a mellowtron
I Like you kid.
Check out the cover Metallica does the video is intense
I really like Bob Seger too bad I missed it live. But hey now you got to review Metallica's version
You should have reacted to the live version.
Those "violins" are actually a Mellotron en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mellotron
METALLICA did an amazing remake of this. You should compare!!
Bristol Tn is closer to Canada than to Memphis Tn.
I think the violin(s) you hear are keyboard synthesizers...
That was a great reaction and I could tell you really resonated with the song. It's a huge hit for a reason - as someone who has been a musician and played in bands and stuff, and also in a different life in a day-job, driven all over the country, sometimes carrying heavy or complicated loads for very long distances sometimes to hard-to-find destinations, I can resonate myself with this on so many levels.
And of course his comment near the end about sitting back and smoking the last cigarette at the end of the day, and "thinking about what she said"; that right there conjures up all kinds of relationship stuff.
It really is one of those iconic songs, and he does bring that grit and soul to it.
I think it is a keybord
that sedtion in the panhandle of florida is interminal.
Great performance, great reaction and analysis of it,crossed Canada in 1986 and this song reminds of it all the time
The key to any Bob Seger song is not what instruments are playing in the background. The magic is in the lyrics. He sings about the American experience that we all can relate to.
lmao there is No violin dude it is a sax.
Sax.
LOVE the reaction!! :) Romans 10:13 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Not a violin - a sax
Did you listen?.. hope you did before you talked over most of it
Metallica does a good job covering this. A lot more guitar..
