The line, "Playing Star again", reminds us that no matter who they are, they can't believe their own fame. In their own mind, they are just another person; it's fans who have elevated them.
Bob Seger is a national treasure! When searching out his music, his live shows are almost always better than studio verision. Check out his Night Moves and You'll Accompany Me if you want to further explore.
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. "Turn The Page" is my favorite by him. But he had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Mainstreet", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight", "Old Time Rock & Roll" etc.
The song "Turn the Page" was written by Bob Seger. It was originally recorded by his band, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, and released in 1973 on the album "Back in '72." Metallica recorded their version of "Turn the Page" in 1998. It was included on their album "Garage Inc.," which is a compilation album featuring cover songs.
Seger is one of the all time great song writers. While songs that he didn't write, like Old Time Rock and Roll are fine, his self-penned songs have so much feeling and are so evocative. So many truly great songs to explore.
this is the live version not the studio version. It is the superior version of the two. Bob Seger has the best power voice in the industry and was very underrated as an artist
Uncle Bob doesn't have a bad song, his entire catalog of music is 🔥✌️ might I suggest his song " Roll me away" one of the greatest road trip songs ever!
Metallica did a nice try at this song, however my personal taste prefers Bobs original. This is probably his number one song in his huge catalog. My favorite is Feels Like Number, Like a Rock and a lot others. Bob does not have a bad song.
Bob Seger is in a legend. He writes songs that puts images in your head. Have been listing for over 50 years. Go ahead and listen to his other songs you won't be disappointed. Loved your reaction.
Original song WRITTEN by Bob Seger, the LEGEND...that's why he sings it so passionately!!! Metallica did a "cover" of HIS song!!! You have to listen to all of his top hits...you won't be disappointed ever. He is a great writer, storyteller and that gritty warm whiskey voice...love him!!!
For some of us 1973 seems not so long ago..I was 16, and in love that year. It didn't last, but life is like that. It goes on, and I have no regrets..They are beautiful memories, and it was a great time in my life..This song brings those memories flying back to me..Thanks for the upload!..One you can follow up on this one is Jackson Browne's "The Load Out/Stay"..It was always only performed as the last song of his concerts, as a tribute to fans, and his road crew...It tell's the same kind of tale, about touring from town to town, doing nightly shows many miles apart...There's a great video on here of a performance..Hope you check it out..I enjoy your reactions!
Bob is such an Ameican treasure! His songwriting is outstanding! He lives his songs with his emotions flowing free. My favorite is "Roll Me Away" you won't be disappointed if you listen...blessings to you both❤
I've been front row for this song in concert. When the sax began he was all you could see on stage in a spotlight. That was in the late 70s. I still get chills. Seger is a beast. Do 'em all. He'll never let you down. Brilliant songwriter and singer. True to his craft even to this day.
Good call. Bob at piano older than film of him in concert. He was a party hit machine for live shows. Just incredible catalogue of dance tunes and sentimental rock tunes celebrating a souls life.
This describes being on the road, going from show to show as his life 'turns a page' only to repeat itself. Bob is still performing & is still amazing. I grew up seeing him before he was famous. He played locally here in Michigan and has a voice that is immediately recognizable. Love all the clips showing him at different stages. I knew him when that beautiful hair was long. Now its gray. LOL Other cool tunes by him are 'Mainstreet', 'Night moves', 'Nutbush city limits' or 'You'll accompany me' to name a few.
I always tell the younger generation. The 70's and 80's generation of music was the best. Growing up back then, listening to all the great artists was unbelievable. They were so many great one. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Van Halen, The Eagles, Bob Seger, Phil Collins, Heart, Kansas, Journey, Foreigner and so many more. These bands were real artists, they spent their lives on the roads. They didn't make a ton of money back then. They played in a different town every night. And the biggest thing was they poured their heart and soul into their music, and they didnt have no stinking autotuning to help their voices. They used their talents!
You both made me Happy watching your response to this song for the first time, nothing like music to connect all of us, and there is nothing like a Great Bob Seger song.Thank You new subscriber.🎸🎼🎹❤😎
Sometimes some of the great songs aren't the ones that are released as singles and this is a classic that Bob Seger's vocals and the wail of the sax are the real hallmarks but little things like the sounds of the strings really make this an absolute all time classic song. So many great songs by Bob Seger and I'm sure most that I would have thought of are said below. I had the distinct pleasure to see him live on the Like a Rock tour. It was a FANTASTIC SHOW!
Seger is fantastic ,please listen to his Night Moves and also Against the Wind and Like A Rock . You made an excellent point about sort of going through life with blinders on and not appreciating or knowing about so many really good things .I was married at 19 ,my first son was born 6 days after my 20th birthday and I had 4 kids before I was 25 . I worked 2 full time jobs for 14 years and then one well paying job that required about 70 hours a week for the next 28 years to support my family and I had no time nor the energy to take my nose off the grindstone to look around and appreciate life . Now that I am retired I am continually reminded of how much I missed . A great quote I read " No one on his death bed ever says . I wished I had worked more hours ."
The radio version is actually the version he did live at Cobo Hall in Detroit for his Live Bullet double album. And the Metallica version is a cover of Bob's song.
I'm so happy you are reacting to Mr Bob! He is so iconic! Oh BTW, talk to each other as much as you want, don't ever worry about that! I feel like we are friends, you have a friend in TN that you two didn't know you had. Ha my attempt to be funny. Listen to more Bob, he will never disappoint. Love & peace. ❤✌🏼
This was recorded live in Detroit in 1975 and included on "Live Bullet" in 1976. THIS is the best version I've heard. His original 1971 studio recording, in my opinion, pales in comparison to this masterpiece. One of, if not THE, best live albums of all time.
My New Years song, Turn the Page. Sry I didn't react earlier but I've listened to this for 14 years right after New Years. As the world rolls over a year I feel I should... So I turn the Page.
It is awesome (but strange to me) that you heard the Metallica version first, THEN Bob. This is "one of the greats," right here. Wonderful to watch you enjoy it so much!
Aldo Reed was the sax player and he would go up to a very high area or in a sling (over the crowd) in the auditorium for this song and the crowd would go crazy.
1973? Let's see, I was a sophomore in high school then. Loved this song, had a couple of Seger albums including "Live Bullet" which had this and his other hits on it.
If you want a definition of classic rock? Seventies…if I could only pick three bands or singers? One would be Bob Seger and the silver bullet band. Wonderful
Bob is THE quintessential American rocker. From Detroit, Michigan, he hes the grit and soul of the American people in his voice, who toured for 50 years all over the US. We f*cking love him.
Another of the fantastic songs that shaped my musical palette from an early age! Glad you are discovering Bob and his band....such good music!! Cheers!
This is an older Bob singing with pictures of him as a young rocker flashing across the screen. Not often that you hear a musician singing about his life. Bob is definitely a legend and still relevant today.
The lyrics you had displayed for the song had a lot of inaccuracies in them. You should check it out with the actual lyrics--this is a beautiful song that always earned him standing ovations when he used to play it in concert!
I promise you would love night moves…bob of course wrote it about the discovery of young love. He is a treasure and so respected. Of course Metallica loves Bob. LOL
Andre, you summed up this song perfectly; you "feel" the emotions he brings in your heart. Don't get me wrong, Metallica did a good cover but you don't feel it like this original. Great job y'all & blessings from Georgia! (OH, if you've not done "I'd Love to Change the World" by Ten Years After, I highly recommend it. Hits you in a similar way this song does)
Can you BELIEVE artists still try to write songs about how hard touring is? I mean, why bother? Bob Seger already nailed it in the 70's and no one is going to top it. This will be the definitive "touring sucks" song until the sun consumes the earth.
trust me guys MR. SEGER is a legend.go down the rabbit hole
100% one of the best story tellers and song writers most people can relate to.
The line, "Playing Star again", reminds us that no matter who they are, they can't believe their own fame. In their own mind, they are just another person; it's fans who have elevated them.

Detroit born and raised. He's a treasure here in Detroit.
From the album Live Bullet. The whole album was recorded live in Detroit in 1974. Check it out, best live album ever recorded.
Seger is one of the all time great song writers. While songs that he didn't write, like Old Time Rock and Roll are fine, his self-penned songs have so much feeling and are so evocative. So many truly great songs to explore.
My favorite song of his, I can't even imagine Metallica doing it.
"Wow 1973 Wow" LOL I was 22 years old when. Please check out night moves. This old man would love to see your reaction to him . Peace ✌️
I was just 15 when this song came out.
this is the live version not the studio version. It is the superior version of the two. Bob Seger has the best power voice in the industry and was very underrated as an artist
Perhaps the greatest rock storyteller of all time.
The King of Detroit Rock and Roll
Uncle Bob doesn't have a bad song, his entire catalog of music is 🔥✌️ might I suggest his song " Roll me away" one of the greatest road trip songs ever!
Agree-love, love "Roll Me Away".
Try Againt the Wind its one of my favorite Seger tunes. Turn the Page is a classic
Metallica did a nice try at this song, however my personal taste prefers Bobs original. This is probably his number one song in his huge catalog. My favorite is Feels Like Number, Like a Rock and a lot others. Bob does not have a bad song.

That is the 1975 Live version from his live album.... The original version is from the album '' BACK IN 72 ''
This was HUGE where I am about 50miles north of Detroit me and my sisters would jam it on our big ol hi-fi stereo
Original song WRITTEN by Bob Seger, the LEGEND...that's why he sings it so passionately!!!
Metallica did a "cover" of HIS song!!!

Bob Seger lives close to me here in Michigan, USA..he's a gem!! Listen to 'Roll Me Away'..another jam!
Bob Seger is still performing and his catalog is outstanding. My personal favorite is "Her Strut" but he doesn't have a bad song.
Bob is such an Ameican treasure! His songwriting is outstanding! He lives his songs with his emotions flowing free. My favorite is "Roll Me Away" you won't be disappointed if you listen...blessings to you both❤
This song came out in 1972 I believe my senior of High school . The memories come flooding back .
Has a large catalog of music. Retired from performing last year. Please do more Bob
I absolutely love your reactions to these songs. Your genuine and feeling thoughts about what you are hearing is very refreshing to witness.
How wonderful the two of you are.
This song is haunting. Dominika you're right, you don't want it to stop. You want the magic to contintue.
I've been front row for this song in concert. When the sax began he was all you could see on stage in a spotlight. That was in the late 70s. I still get chills. Seger is a beast. Do 'em all. He'll never let you down. Brilliant songwriter and singer. True to his craft even to this day.

Incredible writer, musician, singer, story teller.
Night Moves! Another song with good story telling! Like a Rock another! One Hit right after another! With Bob Segar! Your going to love this!...
🇺🇸❤🇺🇸
"Like a Rock," official video of Bob Segar!
I heard this song first time in USA 1980. It has been one of my favorites since.
Cheers from Denmark 👍🇩🇰
Like a Rock.

You can't go wrong with Bob - such a great story teller.

Bob lived it, wrote it and recorded it live in 1973. Long before Metallica was ever heard of.
Bob is one of the best in the world at his craft.
I'm so happy you are reacting to Mr Bob! He is so iconic! Oh BTW, talk to each other as much as you want, don't ever worry about that! Against the Wind will always be my favorite.
It's from '75... Live Bullet at Cobo Hall Arena in Detroit...
It is awesome (but strange to me) that you heard the Metallica version first, THEN Bob. This is "one of the greats," right here. Wonderful to watch you enjoy it so much!
This band has so many great songs!!!!

One of the greatest.
Bob takes a bow...! ;-)
1973? Let's see, I was a sophomore in high school then. Loved this song, had a couple of Seger albums including "Live Bullet" which had this and his other hits on it.

I was in 1st grade! I'm old! 😁🇺🇲
Bob Seger wrote this song ❤
You guys are pretty fn cool.
Love it! Such a great artist.
I would recommend "Like a Rock" and "Mainstreet" Bob Seger from Michigan near where I grew up with his music.
Try "Night Moves" for an emotional roller coaster and a beautiful take on love and the passing of time.
Metalica was a cover, this was written by Bob Seger
Such a classic!❤
You guys hooked me with this reaction!
I’m so glad i came across this version. Metallica did a version when I was a teenager and I remember hearing that and also loving it
Bob is THE quintessential American rocker. From Detroit, Michigan, he hes the grit and soul of the American people in his voice, who toured for 50 years all over the US. We f*cking love him.
Great reaction you two. Bob Seger is a great story teller. His songs can take you down memory lane for sure.
you guys are refreshing to watch react... thanks
Bob Seger Silver Bullet Band is from Detroit Michigan and just never got out of the United States for reasons beyond any of our control/understanding
Keep working! Wonderful.
Another of the fantastic songs that shaped my musical palette from an early age! Glad you are discovering Bob and his band....such good music!! Cheers!

Main Street. Another story song.
Radio version (of a live performance)!!
You need to do Bob's Like a Rock!!!
Wait till you hear night moves!
Can you BELIEVE artists still try to write songs about how hard touring is? I mean, why bother? Bob Seger already nailed it in the 70's and no one is going to top it. This will be the definitive "touring sucks" song until the sun consumes the earth.
Want the easiest puzzle Ever? Check out any Seger album from 69-83 and you Will Be Blown Away!!!
Love it! Great song from a great artist! Love Bob!!❤
This is a Bob Seger song NOT Metallica. They may have tried to covered.it. This is from the 70a.
Like a Rock next🔥🔥
