In 73 he was still searching for a backing band. He was just playing locally at that time with various musicians until he was able to put together the Silver Bullet Band which was a handful of musicians out of Detroit. By 76 they had hit their stride as a group and why it was 'even better.'.

Me and some high school buds drove in and experienced the best concert I'd ever seen and ever will see. We got Bob and band to come out for 3 encores and gave them a standing ovation for 20 minutes after they left the stage the final time (until the Garden crew got on the PA and said they would start arresting people if we didn't leave!). Great song, from a great singer. Bob Seger has a voice that lots of men wished they could have. Imagine how hard it is to make an audience feel compassion for a rock star - but he manages to do it. Anyone who has lived life on the road can understand where he's coming from. Also, the band is just flawless her. Saxophone - big impact. Flute, adds another layer of coolness. Drums/cymbals, just spot on. Keyboard - understated punctuation.

Royal Oak, Michigan, just a step outside of Detroit , Rock and Motown.
Bob worked hard and was on the road all the time. Driving from Detroit to Florida, non stop. Do a couple gigs, drive straight to Detroit. That was a weekend for him and the band.

Seger is the greatest truest Rock and Roller EVER!
This guy got me through High School in the 80’s and the rest of my life afterwards!
    Simply THE Best!

You WILL realize you have heard him before sooner or later! His songs are Legendary!
“Like A Rock” you heard on Chevy commercials for 20 years. “Old Time Rock And Roll” was the main theme from Tom Cruise’s “Risky Business” movie . “Shakedown” from Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly a hills Cop 2”

In the beginning he had super long hair and stupid people would ask if he was a man or a woman when he walked in to hick bars. That's what he was referring to. This is a song about his life on the road in the beginning of his career. Love everything Bob Seger has sung! One of my favorite artists.

Uncle Bob sure knows how to school you on what rock is meant to be. Katmandu, Sunspot Baby, Night Moves, Old Time Rock And Roll, Against The Wind and Main Street will get you well started down the Seger rabbit hole

Good reaction Seb.... Check out "Night Moves" next. Bob is one of the few artists that feels every word he sings and "YOU WILL TOO.

Bob Seger has an amazing voice! Many a virgin lost their innocence to "We got tonight." He even sings about knocking the boots in "Night Moves."

Night Moves and Brave Strangers (my fave of all) can both be construed as virginity breaker songs.

Never missed a Seger concert in Detroit! Concerts at Cobo rocked Detroit! Listening to him is like going home! Back then, everyone with long hair, including my husband, always heard the "is that a woman or a man" line. Seger was down to earth, everyday guy in Detroit. We love him!

Bob is a Motor City Legend! He has so many classics. Went to Nashville and went bar hoping. Paid every band to play one of his songs and never heard the same song twice.

The very first concert I ever went to was Bob Seger in 1978 at the Toledo Sports Arena!! I can still see him sitting at his piano on that stage. It was AMAZING!!
My favorite Seger song is Beautiful Loser.
Btw....I was an 18 year old female who went to that concert alone and felt no fear. Bad things happened in those days, but it was rare. I think it would suck to be young these days.
