200 shows a year for almost 40 years. He's a legend.
And to think Seger only had 1#1hit song Shake Down, Underrated Indeed!
Cant go wrong with any Seger song
SO TRUE.
No truer statement.
HUGE catalog for Bob Seger, and a ton of charting hits. "Like a Rock", "Against the Wind", "Night Moves", "Hollywood Nights", "Mainstreet"...could go on and on. In fact, if you watch commercials on TV, you may even recognize one of the above.
And the most loved song of Bob segars is we got tonight.
The last concert I was at with Bob Segar and he sang that song every lighter in the room was lit.
He is a legend and metallic will never ever be able to match Bob Segar.
discography
I heard him say that he made more money on the commercial with
Like a Rock. Than for his entire discography
that happens when a company uses your song for 13 years@@roryschweinfurter4111
@@roryschweinfurter4111yeah, but inflation. Still, that sucks.
He doesn't just sound like classic R&R, he IS classic R&R!
One of Michigan's favorite sons.❤ The line about "is it a woman or a man?" Back in early 70s rockers and their long hair was counter culture to the straight lace small town communities in which they traveled. Different times.
For the longest time I thought the lyric was "the same old cliche of a woman on her man". Meaning that he hates the grind of touring but he also loves it too much to quit. I was 17 years old at the time so you'll have to forgive my stupidity.
@@jxchamb If you didn't live through those times, it would be hard to understand them like us boomers do.
Bob Seger is such a Legend! Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
Being from Michigan, I grew up with this man, what a velvet voice. Rocked us out!
Bob is a Master story teller and a poet of the first order. He is a consummate rocker, but my favorite emotional song is NIGHT MOVES where he looks at the arc of his life. A banger.
This is a fantastic rabbit hole to dive into. I've loved this song as long as I remember liking music.
Bob Seger’s “Live Bullet” album probably one of the greatest of all time. It would will be worth a listen.
Cobo Hall!
@@tazjammer yep for sure! I saw him at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1976 with about 70,000+ on hand. I’ve seen him seven times after that. Truly a legend especially if you grew up in Michigan. I love him and all the members who ever played with him dearly. I think it would be pretty hard pressed to find a bad song that he’s ever done.
That's exactly what I say
I have it on vinyl
@billwalker7556
It's better on cd because you can hear every note and lyric at 11 out of 10 one the volume knob
Bob has one of the deepest catalogues in music…and he still is touring.
My favorite is: “We’ve Got Tonight”
I absolutely love that song
I like em all! But I really love Come to Poppa and Sunspot Baby.
Legend! unfortunately he is no longer touring. After his sax player died he said he was done.
@@jleahy9025 - that was 2 years ago. He will be doing a “Farewell Tour” in 2023.
Hollywood Nights and Down on Mainstreet
Michigan boomer here. I remember seeing Bob Seger in a little bar in Marine City in 1973. Was great even then. Saw him again in Port Huron when I was expecting my son in 1976. Even better. Never get tired of his music. ❤
If you've ever saw a Chevy truck commercial with the song "Like A Rock" playing, you've heard him sing.
or if you’ve seen “Risky Business”-Old Time Rock ‘n Roll
Here's ultimate respect.... Metallica did a cover of this song. Yeah, he's legend.
Saw Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band when they came to the old Boston Garden back in 1980. Me and some high school buds drove in and experienced the best concert I'd ever seen and ever will see. We got Bob and band to come out for 3 encores and gave them a standing ovation for 20 minutes after they left the stage the final time (until the Garden crew got on the PA and said they would start arresting people if we didn't leave!). Bob is the BEST!
I am a few years older than you but wanted to remark that the older I get, the more precious my beautiful memories of my youth become.
The guitar riff from Seger’s “Mainstreet” is legendary from Muscle Shoals Swamper Pete Carr.
No one is cooler than Bob Seger
Growing up in Michigan and within an hour of his home in the Detroit area, my dad always told me stories of watching him at a local pavilion for free, then one day they heard him on the radio and from there he went nationwide and the rest was history.
Also his saxophone players name is Alto Reed
Coolest sax player name ever!
Alto Reed (born Thomas Neal Cartmell, May 16, 1948 - December 30, 2020)
ALTO REED was a stage name ! Not his real name
He wrote this song while traveling from a performance in Dubuque, Iowa, to his next spot, in Omaha, Nebraska. Right through my neck of the woods.
He has a Massive Hit called Old Time Rock and Roll!!!
Featured in the movie Risky Business with Tom Cruise.
Thanks Sebs! I grew up listening to Bob Seger, so this was a wonderful walk down memory lane. 😊
Bob Seger retired from touring. I got to see him twice on his retirement tour. You will recognize some of his music from commercials (Like a rock) for Chevy trucks, and movies (Old time rock & roll from Risky Business, the famous Tom Cruise scene dancing in his underwear) and the theme song (Shakedown) from Beverly Hills Cop 2. Also, the Metallica cover of Turn the Page is really good.
Deep, deep rabbit hole here. Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band are legendary. Against The Wind, Katmandu, Fire Down Below, Strut, Main Street, Hollywood Nights,Like a Rock,We've Got Tonight, Fire Lake and of course NIght Moves.
MR. SEGER is a legend young man .good reaction
Bob Seger is a Rock and Roll Icon!!! His songs are so awesome, you can't go wrong!!!
One of my favorite Seger songs. He was huge when I was a little kid. My big brother had his albums along with all the great 60s rock. My brother put me in charge of taking care of his albums while he was in Nam. Told me he'd be mad at me if they were messed up "when he came back." It helped me cope with him being gone and it shaped my musical taste for life. Thankfully he came back but he wasn't the same person.
Good reaction Seb.... Check out "Night Moves" next. Bob is one of the few artists that feels every word he sings and "YOU WILL TOO.
I can put on any track from the Live Bullet album today and instantly be transported back to my youth. Bob Seger is part of the tapestry of my life.
Mine too
I've had 9Live Bullets on 8 track and 8or 9 on cassette!
Truly one of the greatest artist ever. Should listen to old time rock n roll and like a rock by him
He was incredible in concert-both times I saw him he got 5+ minute standing ovations after this song. The guy who plays the sax had a shiney 5’ tall sax and the solos were incredible. Check out “Roll Me Away” and “Nutbush City Limits”, which is actually a Tina Turner song. Seger is a classic and part of the soundtrack of a lot of our lives…
Seen him in concert great concert, my favorite part was when the lights went out and the saxophone started playing in the darkness
Can't go wrong with Bob. One of my favorites .
Bob Seger- Against the wind, great song.
Hard to find a bad Bob Seger Song! Welcome to true Rock and Roll!!!
Bob is a Motor City Legend! He has so many classics. Went to Nashville and went bar hoping. Paid every band to play one of his songs and never heard the same song twice.
This one and Old Time Rock n Roll are my two favourite Seger songs. He's a GEM.
This was my first concert in 1980 I was 10 years old and we had front row seats.I was beaming for weeks. Thanks Dad❤😃Much love from Canada❤🇨🇦
Bob Seger is the voice of a generation.
Bob Seger sang a duet with country gal, Martina McBride called 'Chances Are', a song from the movie 'Hope Floats' with Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. Great movie and a song that makes me cry everytime I hear it. Reminds me of dancing in the living room with my late husband. Seger is a legend, I've seen him in concert twice in the last nine years. Best concerts I have ever been to.❤❤
Saw Bob in the Miami Baseball Stadium 4 times.... AMAZING.. ...STILL HAVE THE TICKET STUBS...HE ROCKED ❤
Saw Bob MANY times in Miami...1970's..
He was ALWAYS GREAT!
Seger is the pure soul of rock
Bob's song LIKE A ROCK is one of his best...
1. Like a rock
2. Night moves
3. Main street
4. Old time rock and roll.
Bob walked away from his career when he was on top. He said he wanted to go home and raise his children. He came back and is touring. I have so much respect for him ☮️
Bob Seger is a legend he always has great hits
This tune is awesome. The opening sax solo is timeless!. The piano and Seger's voice is so powerful.
Sebs react to.
"Like a rock".
Thank me later
Yep!
Bob Seager THE BEST EVER. Turn the page my favorite ❤❤❤
Seger Not Segar!
for me, this song has always felt so powerful...really moves ya.. Bob Seger never diapoints. you nailed it from your first comment...
He's a legend! Should really get the Nobel Prize for literature. Please do more..
You need to hear more of Bob ✌️😎
I was here for the sax comeback reaction and it once again failed to disappoint.
My favorite Seger song is Old Time Rock n Roll.
You encountered serious soul in Rock and Roll for the 1st time. Congrats
Dude the Bob Seger catalog is one of the greatest in rock history, this is definitely a rabbit hole to dive into
Never missed a Seger concert in Detroit! Concerts at Cobo rocked Detroit! Listening to him is like going home! Back then, everyone with long hair, including my husband, always heard the "is that a woman or a man" line. Seger was down to earth, everyday guy in Detroit. We love him!
Never heard of Bob Seger? You're in for a treat!
LIVE BULLET!!! Whole thing is legend.
Bob Seger has an amazing voice! Many a virgin lost their innocence to "We got tonight." He even sings about knocking the boots in "Night Moves."
Night Moves and Brave Strangers (my fave of all) can both be construed as virginity breaker songs.
Bob Seger...had tickets to see him in Houston, Tx in the late 70's but, got hit by a car that ran a red light. I was on the back of a Harley, Still have my ticket. Seger was the man, couldn't go in a bar that had a jukebox, and NOT have Segers' songs' on it. Turn the Page is one of many great songs by Bob Seger.
Bob Seger had over 30 Hits. All of them GREAT!
I love Bob Seger one of the best!
I love Bob Seger. I've seen him twice and have all his albums. He has many great songs.
Bob Seger was at the top of his game in the late 60s early 70s just when l am hitting my teen years. I have had every album , 8-track tape, cassette, and C-D of his one of my favorite rock GODS.
My favorite performer ❤
This is the rock I grew up with. Back then it wasn't classic rock, it was just rock because it was new. I didn't appreciate it then, but I do now.
This song by Bob Seger “Turn The Page”, I believe he is letting people know what the REALITY is of his career, his touring, performing. He enjoys his career, BUT, it is not always “glamorous”.
I grew up in the Detroit suburbs. A lot of great music comes from there, Aretha Franklin, Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Eminem Alice Cooper, but Bob Seger is my favorite.
Since I was a very young child Bob Se
ger has played some part of the soundtrack of my life.
No joke….
Almost every song holds a memory and brings it back when I hear them.
I was privileged to see them in concert when I was a teen, in the late 70’s. Fabulous!
A true original! His music covers many styles! I'm in my 60s, this is the music of MY youth and brother all genres and styles there are means YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHIN YET!!!!
That's Bob Seger, classic Rock-n-roll, he's talking about life, about being on the road as a musician. And what a voice! No other quite like it! Isn't it that way with every job, drawbacks to the job! Love the sax in this, so sexy!
Roll Me Away, Horizontal Bop, Betty Lou, Feel Like a Number, Hollywood Nights, Katmandu and so many more.
I don't go on a road trip without Bob Seger in the playlist! My favorites are: Against the Wind, Fire Lake and Roll Me Away.
I was a teenager in the 70's,Bob Seger was one of my favorites and love Turn the Page! Memories!
Bob doesn't always get the respect he deserves. His voice is timeless!❤️
This is about life on the road for a band. Check out his other songs- Old Time Rock and Roll, Like A Rock, Night Moves, Roll Me Away
Love the younger people discovering how it was in the 60s and 70s. Real Rock, sooo many good bands, Pink Floyd, Stones ,Led, on and on and on !
My father died in 1975, I was 8. He left me a small record collection. The album on the turntable was by Bob Seger.
A road trip is not a road trip without a cd of Segers greatest hits!
Aaaah!! the 70's! such great music, such great memories. Bob Seger brings it all back.
Love Bob, he sounds just as amazing live. I've has the privilege to see him in concert and as I expected he is one of those that sound just as good live, as he does recorded. Amazing musician, top notch
I was fortunate enough to grow up with this music and so many of the other "greats" you are getting to listen and learn about. Enjoy the ride, I am. Thanks!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BOB SEGER AND THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS. KATMANDU IS A GREAT DANCE TUNE.. ALL OF HIS SONGS ARE AWESOME!!
It was a great time to be a young hippie, beach bum, music lover, long hair. There was just SO much good music.
Bob Seger is literally the voice of the grind of the times. You can feel the road and the life as it rolls beneath your feet
This has been my favorite song since I was about 3 years old. My mother remembers little me freaking out in the car whenever I heard that opening sax
This album is one of the best for a long road trip. It is driving music. He was the front edge of the Rock/Southern Rock era. Amazing catalogue of music.
The best thing about being old is I grew up listening to the best music and saw all the best concerts.
Seeger has had enough hits to have two greatest hits albums out…and they’re all hits!
This is my favourite Bob Seger song. Love the saxophone ❤
He was Detroit gold (he was from 60 miles west of Detroit). His music was in time for the rockers who hated disco (me for one). He is a legend. Influenced many artists, including Kid Rock.
Sebs, my goodness you have missed so much music. Take it from a 69 year old woman who grew up in a musical family who likes all kinds of music. So glad to see someone your age catching up on music history. And enjoying it. Great!
Got to see him a few years back during his farewell tour and he sounded just as good as he did on the video
Ever heard Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!
Voice ahead of its time? No way. It was just the right period for this kind of voice.
Bob Seger is one of the greatest R&R singer/songwriters ever. Turn the Page is my favorite of his songs, but Night Moves is a well-known classic.
I promise you with all my heart and soul you know Bob Seger without knowing Bob Seger Chevy commercials Super Bowls you know you know Bob Seger
Not only can bob sing....he writes just about all his stuff too.
More Bob! So many great songs!
Seger is the greatest truest Rock and Roller EVER!
This guy got me through High School in the 80’s and the rest of my life afterwards!
Simply THE Best!
You WILL realize you have heard him before sooner or later! His songs are Legendary!
“Like A Rock” you heard on Chevy commercials for 20 years. “Old Time Rock And Roll” was the main theme from Tom Cruise’s “Risky Business” movie . “Shakedown” from Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly a hills Cop 2”
1973 I was 12 years old when this came out. Grew up just South of Detroit so Bob Seger along with Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent were listened to quite a bit in our home.
