I went to one of his concerts in the middle 90s this song came up. He said he wanted to take a break so he asked us to sing the song. The music started to play then all 45,000 people we sang the whole song by ourselves it was so cool 😎
You’ll probably know “Old time rock and roll” that’s one of his most well known. Night Moves, Like a Rock, You’ll Accompany me, Hollywood Nights, Fire down Below, it goes in and on.
BOB SEGER PLAYLSIT: "Night Moves" - "Hollywood Nights" - "Shame on the Moon" - "Fire Lake" - "Against the Wind" - "Turn the Page” - "We've Got tonight" - “Still the Same” - "You'll Accomp'ny Me" - “Come to Poppa" - Old Time Rock and Roll” - “Mainstreet” - “ The Fire Down Below”
That saxophone gets me everytime! Bob's got some beautiful ballads but he also can rock your socks off lol Her Strut, Come to Papa, Old time Rock n Roll to name just a few. ✌❤
I'm a pilot as well, but I met Bob Seger in a bar in Hollywood, Florida, while playing an impromptu set, in the late seventies. Great guy... Great music
@@ske2636 I no longer fly however I started in my twenties, flying for a commuter called Aero Coach. It consisted of a fleet of turbo props servicing the Bahamas. Flew for nearly 15 years then switch to cabin crew for seniority sake and only had to bid 15 lines monthly. Was able to actually attend graduate school while a FA!
Bob Seger is a one of a kind legend! His music is powerful and is top of rock and soul in his own style. He has many hits, one you'll like is "Like A Rock"
Bob Seger is one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever. He's got lots of soulful numbers like this, Roll Me Away, or Night Moves, but also kicking rock numbers, like Katmandu or Nutbush City. You can't go wrong.
"Hollywood Nights"!!! Please! Bob Seger is one of the best storytelling songwriters EVER to go along with that fine voice of his!!! Bob Dylan is another musical genius!! Check out "Tangled Up in Blue" or "Hurricane"...or ennie-minni-minie-moe it!! You can't pick out a bad one from either one of them!! 🥰
Bob’s voice and legendary songwriting tend to make for memorable songs. But sometimes you get a weary ballad, sometimes a touching love song, sometimes something upbeat and saucy, sometimes old school rock & roll. Just depends what mood he’s in. “We’ve Got Tonight” “Feel Like a Number” “Fire Down Below” “Traveling Man + Beautiful Loser” from Live Bullet “Sunspot Baby”
Bob Seger is Americana. Legendary songwriter and storyteller. Please go down this rabbit hole. Still The Same Night Moves Shame on the Move Feels Like A Number
Yes, Seger is like a stripped down grass roots vocalist and somgwriter. Very emotional and talking about everyday life and struggles and drawn from his own experience growing up in a 1960's Detroit. Roll me away, night moves, and main street are really good ones.
Bout time you did some See-ger. Thank you🔥He has a lot of hits. Maltica covered this. He is a Detroit boy gave Chevy his song “Like a Rock” sold more trucks in the 90’s. Good ones Night Moves” Mainstreet” Her Strut” Ol Time Rock & Roll” Kathmandu”. Bob is the Midwest storyteller. 🔥🔥🔥
Seger (pronounced See-ger) almost always sings emotionally. He has both ballads and rockers. For your next 2 Seger songs, I recommend "Night Moves" and "Hollywood Nights". The former is another ballad, and the latter is a rocker.
One thing I've always wondered is if the line is "They do respect her, but/they love to watch her strut" or "They do respect her butt./They love to watch her strut." 'Cause I'm thinking it works either way
I've seen Bob Seger 6 times in my life. He is in the songwriters hall of fame and the Rockin roll hall of fame. One of America's best artists of all time.
I first saw him in concert in 1978. Just a couple years ago my wife got us tickets to see him here on his "Farewell Tour" and the man still has those pipes. He did get a bit winded on his last song but that was his SECOND encore...💯🔥🎸
Brother, you just fell into one of the Deepest Rabbit Holes ever. I understand, but at the same time I don't understand how anyone has ever heard of Boy Seger.
A number of Bob Seger's songs were songs that evoke memories of youth & coming into adulthood. I often find that I'm listening to a man in his 30's or 40's reminiscing on late teens early 20's and single life... that on some level to which I can relate. 'Mainstreet' and 'Night Moves' in particular. But 'Old Time Rock& Roll' lets you know he's all about that too! (Old time rock & roll, that is! :) Hopefully you'll see what I mean soon enough! :)
In 1979 when I was 14, I won a radio call-in contest to get tickets to a Bob Seger concert in Northern VA where I lived at the time. My folks wouldn't let me go, but I STILL won those tickets, dammit!
He is an amazing song writer and storyteller. I saw him twice last year on his retirement tour. So many songs to choose from. Still The Same, Night Moves, Fire Down Below, Against The Wind, Like A Rock, We’ve Got Tonight, Hollywood Nights, You’ll Accomp’ny Me, Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man, Old Time Rock & Roll, Roll Me Away, just to start.
yess! great pick👍check out his "like a rock" and "shame on the moon"🤗, also "old time rock and roll", "long as i see the light" and "against the wind"🙂
Rockin Robert as he’s called here in Michigan, where Bob is from . Bob has been playing rock n roll since the 50’s . He is also in the Rock n Roll hall of Fame ... anything from Bob will leave you having a “ dropped jaw “
Nice reaction. I would recommend "Hollywood Nights" or "Her Strut" for something a little faster and different. I always considered his music mostly middle-of-the-road or easy listening. Especially when my mom was buying his records lol. A great rabbit hole to explore here regardless. Talent extraordinaire.
Seger was my first concert, in ‘83 or ‘84 (can’t remember). He has a TON of hits. Love this man. NIGHT MOVES, OLD TIME ROCK & ROLL, SUN SPOT BABY, GET OUT OF DENVER HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS Just to name a few. He is HUGE.
His voice sucks you in. Bob Seger has that ability. It's also quite distinctive. Just run through his hits. It's all good. Hollywood Nights and Night Moves are two of my favorites.
Must hear Bob's are "Roll Me Away" and "Main Street". Roll me Away builds and builds until that one line where his soul takes flight and so will yours. Main Street is short and straightforward and has the best sounding guitar tone that one could ever pick.
So glad you liked this! He has an amazing catalog of music - I don't need to list them because others already have. He's so soulful and gets me every time! Regarding the saxophone- there are a number of artists who have horn sections, and others who use just saxophones. One in particular is Glenn Frey of the Eagles. He was a close personal friend of Bob Seger's (pronounced "see-ger", BTW) and the music he recorded as a solo artist in the 80s has a lot of sax in it. Lots of other great groups have fantastic horn sections, like Average White Band, Tower of Power, Sly & the Family Stone, etc. Enjoy!
Turn the Page and Like a Rock are my two favorite songs by Bob Seger the older I get the more I truly understand the lyrics to Like a Rock. You probably heard the chorus from the old Chevy commercials.
This is one of his best, but they all are his best..like he says in the song he always gives 100%. Also the sax in this song and all his stage shows was played by Alto Reed. Unfortunately Mr. Reed just passed away.😥
Welcome to the Bob Seger (pronounced “See-ger”) rabbit hole. I got to see him twice in concert and he sounded EXACTLY like his studio music. Great man, great performer-look into more of his music. His songs tell stories-check out “Roll Me Away”--a perfect driving song.
I really dig your channel. You could spend a lot of time on Seger, it’s almost all gold. I’d like to see you check out Thin Lizzy - Dancing in the moonlight, or Cowboy Song. They are my 2nd favorite to AC/DC.
I play in a band and can feel every word of this world weary masterpiece. You're tired, sore, lonely, always a stranger, yet you never fail to put everything you've got into the show the next night after a day of driving. At the end of the show, you break down the stage again and collapse into bed, waking early in the morning to drive to the next town. Seger and his band lived this life and this song perfectly describes exactly the emotional feeling of so many of us. He didn't just write and sing this song he lived it. Like the great Blues players from the 1920s through the 60s, he feels this one from deep inside. Bless you for this one, Bob.
Bob makes you feel like you lived it.What a tremendous talent this man has.The voice makes you hang on every word. That Sax was absolutely nasty,so unexpected ,but added the layer that enhanced the story Bob was telling us so brilliantly.
Bob Seger has an incredible catalog of music...some of his other great songs I think you'd like are Katmandu, Come to Poppa, Strut, Hollywood Nights, Fire Down Below, Like a Rock, Old Time Rock & Rock...so many great songs!
How is it you've never heard Bob Seger? This man's songs were part and parcel of my youth growing up in Michigan. Bob is pure Detroit soul. His rock n' roll is rock n' roll at it's purest.
Bob Seger is a king storyteller! He puts you right into whatever he's singing about and you believe every word. This doesn't even take into account his great voice and band.
First time that I saw Bob and the Band.....When the Sax opened the song....The musician had positioned himself in the same section of seating that I was in....about a dozen seats over and opened up like that.............UNREAL!! We didn't even know that he was there and the brass started the opening... WOW!!!!!
Welcome to the world of Bob Seger music. One of the true rock n roll legends. And one of the greatest singer-songwriter and storytellers of this or any generation. Every one of his songs takes you on a journey that is rich and thought provoking.
Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band.... I saw him live in 1980. I’ve seen hundreds of live performances over the years.... Bob Seger was the only concert I’ve ever been to where a stranger asked me to dance with him in the isle..... and I did. He’s great!
When you listen to Bob Seger you have to listen to the words. Very emotionally involved. Many are about days gone by but not all. He has soooo many hits.
This song was written in and about a time in bob's career when he ws doing 2 or 3 hundred small gigs mainly throughout the midwest, though my friend has ticket stub and picture that shows he played in Florida too, with Teagarden and VanWinkel IT was a real grind. He had a hit early on with Ramblin Gamblin man, and then nothing for 5 years. He quit briefly, went straight signed up for college and everything. But then he decided to go all in one last time - that is around when he wrote this song. This version of the song was recorded a few years after that when he started to catch on especially in Detroit, recorded at Cobo Hall . In Detroit he was selling more albums than the Beatles . That album, Live Bullet, is an amazing album because it also has covers he does of old rock and R&B standards.
Look up Bob’s “Night Moves” ... dozens of great songs.
That's my favorite too. Also like "Against the Wind".
My favorite is "Fire Lake". Here's the best version: ruclips.net/video/rb8DD08YTtE/видео.html

Please go down this rabbit hole, so many good songs

I have always loved Bob Seger! My nephew went to school with his son in Michigan. They lived down the street from them. Very cool guy
DITTO!
Steve winwood can’t find my way home too. Such a great era of musical storytellers. Great melodies. Just takes me back to childhood.
You’ll probably know “Old time rock and roll” that’s one of his most well known. Night Moves, Like a Rock, You’ll Accompany me, Hollywood Nights, Fire down Below, it goes in and on.
All of these! And “Come to Papa”.
Fire down Below and Rock and Roll Never Forgets for sure. He has a ton of songs.
Yeah he's probably heard some of Like A Rock since it was used for Chevy commercials for a long time.
That kind of music just soothes the soul. IMO.
The pre-Silver Bullet Band stuff is the best

Of course a great an amazing song is Black Betty by Ram Jam.
Baker Street is so underrated. That saxophone is so good. Any time I hear that I stop what im doing and listen to it, lol.

@@farfromperfek You know he Derived that name from Saxophones ! Alto Saxes and Saxes have REEDS , ERGO ALTO REED! , A stage NAME!
I got the chance to fly the band around for a month. What a great group of people.
