Forerunners might have a larger empire and slightly better technology, but they have none of the decisiveness, the will of risk taking and sacrifice, reactiveness or awareness to fight the flood like ancient humans did. They did at least few major mistakes at the war against the Shaping Sickness that led to their downfall.

This is one of the most tragic and unfortunate situations. As cold as It may sound, but if the forerunners didn't get so jealous and went off killing all the Precursors, no one would have to be dealing with the flood so much.
1:25 I always wondered why they didn't warn the Forerunners, THEN destroyed the flood and vast portions of the planet. Then at the very least the Forerunners would know why the Humans attacked a world they controlled.
Ancient Humans glassed Forerunners worlds because Flood threat was very serious. Flood intelligence grow on what they consume. More they consume more smarter they become. Hence why Halo were created to stop the Flood. Thousands of plans made utterly failed. Ancients humans might of killed Forerunners but Forerunners killed all life. So basically Forerunners did what Ancient Humans did. Killed lives to stop Flood threat. They just did on a galactic scale. Covenant glassing humans because there dumb greedy prophets proclaiming humanity was a stumbling block in there path for salvation so they needed to be exterminated. The truth is humans inherited forerunners technology. Humans were supposed to be the new guardians of the galaxy.
Every halo game has featured the exploration of a forerunner installation. But I would absolutely die for a single game based on exploring an Ancient Human planet or ship or installation, learning more about them, and reclaiming our true heritage.
Issue was they never attempted to talk to the forerunners. I know both sides hated each other. But if they at least attempted and brought specimens. Maybe just have a diplomat come, and watch and see the fighting and how fast it spreads. I don't know I guess they really did hate each other a lot for them not to ask the other for help, and the other being forerunners to not help the humans.
You are certainly right that they didn't like each other. Ancient humans believed - ironically they were correct - that they were the true inheritors of the Mantle of Responsibility, which the Forerunners saw as heresy. However, in this case I think it had more to do with practicality. The Flood spreads at a terrifying speed. If I were the Lord of Admirals, I would be desperate to prevent the Flood gaining control of superior Forerunner technology and using it to spread further. In this case, the Lord of Admirals would not take that risk.
They did! They did warn the Forerunners during the war, but the Forerunners were clouded with jealousy, as they believed they deserved the Mantle, rather than humanity.
Unknown Entity That is true...somewhat. They never even told the Forerunners, until they were basically defeated. The forerunners had no way of knowing, they just assumed Humanity was aggressively pushing into their territory for personal gains.
+Jamie Jordan The forerunners and humans always hated eachother the humans warned them like half way through the war but the forerunners didnt even hear the message the forerunners were the agressive ones not humans humans were the ones to hold the mantle of responsibility not the forerunners the forerunner hated the humans for that fact they know the precursers chose the humans forerunners were always the bad guy

i will enjoy to killing your Floods hives, *Proto Gravemind!* And the damn Floods biomass! And that Rotten Floods swarms.. Because you are my favorite enemies, Proto Gravemind, and the Rotten Floods swarms..
If you really look at it all the problems we have is all the forerunners fault. If they never committed genocide against the precursors the flood would have never happened.
I think that was the mistake ancient humans did. Because they never introduced themselves properly to the forerunners, they were misunderstood as imperialists.
You have to remember that(I think) once the San'Shyuum formed back up after being reseeded, they had no knowledge of their prior, ancient civilization.

Anyone who says Halo 4 lore isn't peak is just wrong. I get the whole multiplayer debate, but this lore is just the best
It isn’t peak, it’s a mess of retcons that completely flies in the face of everything set up by CE, 2, 3, ODST, Wars, Reach, and all of the books prior to the Forerunner trilogy.
@@Slender_Man_186You mean how Bungie retconned the lore with Reach way before 343 stepped in?
technological tiers
level 0 - precursor - they are like gods... inmaterial minds, they can create life, teletransportation, etc.
level 1 - Forerruner and ancient humans - world builders, gravitational control, super IA, etc...
level 2 - The Covenant - energy manipulation, accurate Slipspace navigation, etc.
level 3 - Humans of 2500´s - mass drivers, asynchronous linear-induction weapons, and semi-sentient AIs
level 4 - Actual humans (we are at this level right now) xD
Level 5 - 1940’s USA
Level 6 - Cavemen
Level 7 - Flood
i'd say UNSC humans are pretty much tier 2 now
@Matthew Reese I think the san'shyum were upper Tier 3 even back then, reason being that they did not last long when ancient humanity got defeated.

This is world-building on Star Trek Level. And I respect it, problem is, the audience by and large is way too simple and it went over their heads.
Lol star trek is pale comparison to forerunner and ancient humanity tech.
@@AlexSanchez-je9uw The problem with Halo 4's campaign is that it required you to read the forerunner saga (I.e crptum, primodium and silentieum) to have a good idea of what's going on.
Those books are some of the best Video game/ expanded universe books I've ever read, but the majority of the audience will probably not bother.
I loved the campaign because of that but objectively it's not very good because it should've told the story in a more clear way to the general audience.

1. They’d have to explain danger of the flood.
2. The four runners would send people to investigate, because cleansing an entire planet wouldn’t just be ok.
3. It would of taken days.
@@meurum2561 It would have avoided the war and even if the planet was overrun, Humans and Forerunners working together would have been a better outcome.
@@meurum2561 That one decision not to inform the Forerunners doomed both Ancient Humanity and the Forerunners. It would have made much more sense to reach out to the Forerunners and let them know about the flood before destroying their populated worlds, then fight a war for a millennia. In 1000 years there wasn't a moment for either side to reach out and ask what the hell is going on?
@@borg111 Seems like you don't understant how freaking fast flood spreads, give em only one day infecting a forerunner planet with 2billion people, at the end of the day they will have one gravemind if not before, capable of piloting multiple infected forerunner spaceships, to invade another planets, if you let them spread further, no alliances will matter, they're all fucked
Agreed that humanity should've let the forerunners know about why they're cleasing the planets but you know, if they did it, there wouldn't be halos and unsc, covies, etc.
Other thingy is, during halo 3(2007)the concept of precursors and ancient humanity did not exist yet, as they were added when 343i took halo franchise and retconned everything, so obviously there will be a lot of odd things in the lore, as how human-forerunner war started.
@@Genesongx You can't be serious. So fast that you can't warn a planet before destroying it? So you're saying there is no one in the entire Human empire even non combatants who can open communications with the Forerunners? I want to believe that the reason why the Humans didn’t warned the Forerunners about the Flood was because they did so before but the Forerunners didn’t heed their warnings.

Well I can speculate that the face paint or whatever they have has something to do with rank or title. Meaning that perhaps face paint or civilizations that highly used or valued it were the ones that advanced. Think about our own time for example. The halo 4 terminals really gave the halo universe so much more depth than the human covenant war. The flood, ancient humans, forerunners, the repetition of history for the bigger goal of the mantle was something that was so well executed in these terminals
We need to see ancient humans in future infinite dlc's or I will raid the HQ of 343i myself
The Floods has nickname, *Shaping sickness* from Ancient Humanity.
Little warhammer 40k nod in there somewhere.
Ok. Who ordered general order 24. (A Starfleet order that a starship captain can give, it will result in a starship destroying all life and any trace of civilization on the planet via orbital strikes. This will transform a planet into a class D planet, basically melting the whole crust into lava within minutes. )
Fuck yeah, humans!
we had more advanced technology interms of military if you read the books and play the games. We lost because by the time we turned our full forces against the forerunners our numbers were already down to a 1/3 of its original size due to the flood and the forerunners who attacked us without even knowing why we destroyed their few planets despite them having over 3 million. So it was numbers that caused us to lose as forerunners had trillions and trillions more and we didn’t even have over 200 000 colonised planets and we had already been depleted. If we were at our full strength we would have probably causes a massive blow to the forerunner ecumene despite still losing but we wouldn’t have lost this badly.
This is one of the most tragic and unfortunate situations. As cold as It may sound, but if the forerunners didn't get so jealous and went off killing all the Precursors, no one would have to be dealing with the flood so much.
hahah i love this scene. always reminds me of the Protoss to cleanse the world of the Zerg infestation

Ancient Humans glassed the Forerunners. Covenant Glassed present Humans. Ironic.
Lord of Admirals is my gt on modern warfare 👌🏻
Every halo game has featured the exploration of a forerunner installation. But I would absolutely die for a single game based on exploring an Ancient Human planet or ship or installation, learning more about them, and reclaiming our true heritage.
Issue was they never attempted to talk to the forerunners. I know both sides hated each other. But if they at least attempted and brought specimens. Maybe just have a diplomat come, and watch and see the fighting and how fast it spreads. I don't know I guess they really did hate each other a lot for them not to ask the other for help, and the other being forerunners to not help the humans.
if they warned them the forerunners would go there and investigate the issue and the forerunners will not believe the humans either
You don't actually think the Forerunners would have believed the humans, right?
They did! They did warn the Forerunners during the war, but the Forerunners were clouded with jealousy, as they believed they deserved the Mantle, rather than humanity.
They did try to warn forerunners multiple times before that.
Forerunners simply didn't listen.
The music is beautiful, really makes you feel the mood of tragedy.

Unknown Entity That is true...somewhat. They never even told the Forerunners, until they were basically defeated. The forerunners had no way of knowing, they just assumed Humanity was aggressively pushing into their territory for personal gains.
Humans and Forerunners hated each other from the beginning.
Jamie Jordan I wouldn't say the Humans were exactly saints, either. They are certainly capable of committing atrocities, as well.
