I did see Jackie perform live and he was fantastic. He was often called Mr. Excitement. When Michael received an award he thanked Jackie Wilson for being an inspiration for Michael. Jackie had it all, incredible voice, unreal dance moves and he was the ultimate entertainer. He was also very close friends with Elvis. Jackie tragically suffered a severe stroke on stage and spent the rest of his life in a nursing home. Elvis paid for his care. R.I.P. Jackie and Elvis. Thanks for the great reaction. 👏👏🥰
I was in high school when he suffered a heart attack in the middle of this song at The Latin Casino nightclub which was near my home. He never recovered and was in a coma for about 9 years. Such a wonderful entertainer. I also loved "Higher and Higher".
This is the music from my parent's generation, I grew up listening to these songs. Jackie Wilson had a voice that invaded your heart and was the cause of many babies being made unexpectedly.🔥
Dick Clark, the man who produced not only this show that Jackie is on, but also the producer of the famous New Year's Eve shows here in America, called Jackie the most talented man he'd ever met. Jackie had perhaps the greatest voice of his generation, certainly the greatest in the early R&B/R&R era, as you see, was the most dynamic performer of that era, and he could sing just about anything. Watch Jackie do a live performance of his hit "To Be Loved" on the old Ed Sullivan show in black and white and see how Jackie handled ballads. There was nothing and no one quite like him.
Enjoyed your reaction! And yes, Jackie Wilson was a great singer and performer! Always loved his music. Since you enjoyed Jackie's splits, you should check out The Nicolas Brothers performance in the movie Stormy Weather with Cab Calloway and his orchestra. It will blow your mind🤯 There's a clip from the movie which was released in 43.
Jay, there's a whole lot more out there by Jackie. He is fabulous. Hits like That's Why, I'll Be Satisfied, Baby Work Out, I'm Coming On Back to You, Reet Petite, Doggin' Around, You Better Know It, So Much, Higher And Higher, Whispers, To Be Loved, I Just Can't Help It, Danny Boy, Night. And there are so many more!
The dancing is a huge part of entertainment then and before. You have to see the Nicolas Brothers with Cab Calloway. The dancing will knock you out! The Moonwalk goes back to the 1930s .
Jackie Wilson is my deepest inspiration from my music. What a wonderful performer man and jamon jamon. Do you think Michael Jackson got a few? His news for me and maybe James Brown, too. What a wonderful performer.
If you want your mind blown over some crazy seemingly impossible dancing, you should watch "Jumpin' Jive" by Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers, frequently called one of the most amazing dance sequences in history. It's from my Grandpa's time but still blows people's minds.
Ok, ok! This is my second time checking you out. I just subscribed! Now, if you had not done it yet. Venture down the Isley Brothers rabbit hole. Start with “Voyage to Atlantis” and “Who’s That Lady”. Yeah, you caught the attention of this baby boomer.
Thanks for the fabulous reaction Jay! I'm joining all your subscribers who are recommending the Nicholas Brothers performing "Jumpin' Jive" with Cab Calloway. It's a performance that's not to be missed. It is unbelievable!

Jackie Wilson was at one time a Golden Gloves boxer and kept himself in great shape. You can see it with his live performances.
No light show no pyrotechnic display just pure talent and soul

What a man, what a man. Must have watched this 20 times.
Listen to him sing “to be loved” it’s beautiful!
In 1975 he fell from the stage and hit his head never regaining consciousness. A terrible loss.
Mr. Excitement himself! 🔥
