Because of his dynamic and acrobatic live stage performances, Jackie Leroy Wilson was called "Mr. Excitement".

Authentic voices are the best . The man is so smooth, dressed so sharp ,having a good time . Great artist with absolutely unique vocal styling , that’s why he is still cool

Another blast from my past. This song came out in 1958. I was 12 years old and it is just as dynamic today as it was 66 years ago. Thanks for this little trip through my childhood!

Tragically, this is the song he was singing when he had the heart attack that put him in a coma and eventually killed him. Such an amazing artist!

I was a sophomore just days away from summer break when this aired, seeing Jackie Wilson on Ed Sullivan was always a must-see. Great reaction!!

Thank you for this. I saw Jackie Wilson perform at a Club in Detroit back in the 60s. To say his performance was mesmerizing is an understatement. He was unbelievable. Great voice, great dancer. So much talent. 👏👏🥰

I was born 1961 in Jamaica so we had the oldtime reggae and these oldtimes usa oldies. Bredren you missed life we had both worlds. As a teenager in the 70s I prefer late 50s to 60s music. Even today jamaicans when playing music its 90% oldies. You walk the streets of Ja even today its all music 🎵🎶

MAJ, did you notice during his ad libs how he cut the beats with his voice(hup, hup) that’s is used in today’s hip hop beats?

Men had incredible style back then, the artists would be embarrassed to death if they were badly dressed. You want that kind of swagger talk to a gentleman’s tailor . They know all the detail tricks

Really incomparable pipes, Jackie, and the way he could move - Jeez! Both James Brown and Jackie had been amateur boxers when they were young and it was said that this is why they were such great dancers. My 2 favorite hits of his are "Baby Workout" which you've already heard and "Doggin' Around". That should be your next selection. Jackie was sooooo smooth - Mr. Showman. Gone too soon!

Where I grew up that was one of the types of hair style that was popular in the 50's and part of the 60's. Took quite a bit to achieve and maintain. A silk scarf was a must that was worn until the night you hit the streets and then the scarf could be put away until bedtime. Many variations on the style that was known as the "process."

You can see some much more flashy dancing in his other performance of lonely teardrops and his performance of baby work out

He died at only 49 years because of a heart attack on stage, caused by heavy consumption of salt to make him sweat a lot in his live performances. All because women loved it...😐 Nevertheless, he is a legend.
