Absolutely unbelievable amount of work went into this detailed project of beaches on the big island. This is going to be our guide for beaches when we travel to Hawaii later on this year. Thank you so much for this incredible overview of the beaches!
My wife and have been watching your Big Island videos. We're beach bums and are headed there in May. Jordan, this is by far the best video we've watched to hopefully every spot we'd like to visit! Mahalo for you taking the time to make and share this with us! We're even more excited after watching this!
Thanks so much Robert, that means a lot to me. It's such an amazing place to explore. I had been to Maui and Kauai, but no one ever talked about how awesome the Big Island is. We still can't choose a favorite, but the Big Island is up there for us 😃
@@JordanOutside we went to Oahu in 2023 for a couple weeks,It was ok but I will never go there again . Most memorable part of Oahu was the people, we meet a gentleman at a road side lunch spot he was the nicest guy and ended up inviting use to watch him play at Dukes Waikiki that night. His name was Keale, always the unexpected and unplanned are the most memorable! It’s hard to explain to people the beauty of Hawaii, most just think I’m nuts🤙🇨🇦
Best BI beach video I ahve watched so far. Have been to "most" of the beaches you show but this best overview and guide - bar none. EXCELLENT for BI beach and snorkling fans. 30 thumbs up Jordan !
Thanks so much. It took a lot of work to put this together, but we were so blown away with how amazing this island is, I just had to do it. Thanks again 😃
By FAR the BEST viewing and description of all 30 beaches….great tips and information for directions! Thank you so much for your time and efforts this documentary of the best beaches is a keeper !!!
Great video! I’ve been to Kona many times and you definitely covered most of the best beaches. There’s a couple of my faves that you missed tho. One is just north of Kona town, the Koloko Honokohau National Historical Park has an excellent sandy swimming beach with turtles, free admission and parking. Just south of that is Old Kona Airport Beach which has great tide pools and a long beach with picnic areas. Just drive down the old runway! Keauhou Bay Beach Park in South Kona is another nice spot with a small beach, kayak launch, and shady palms. Aloha! 🤙
Just an outstanding video and resource. Im visiting the big island for a month staying in Pahoa and after 2 weeks exploring this region I will be doing day visiting to Kona side. This video allowed me to prepare my trek starting at Kapa'a #1. I was able to sort my day trips from this video to include snorkeling stops and must see beaches. I chose 16 from this list based on the videos and just really grateful for this video! Thank you
We have made like 5 trips to the Big Island. After watching this video I see just jow much we have missed! Great video! We like the Big Island more than the other islands. All are good!😊
I can't thank you enough for all the work you put in to make this video. Just got back from a trip to the Big Island and your videos were a life saver. Best Big Island videos on RUclips by far. Love the format, tips and recommendations. Cant wait to see where you go next!
Just WOW!!! Beautiful and sooo much information… I’ll be watching again and again before my first trip here in November! Thank you for all your wonderful videos.
Thanks so much! I appreciate the feedback. All of this footage was filmed last November while we were there for our anniversary. Hopefully you'll have similar conditions. Have a great trip 😃
Wow, what a terrific job. One would never know there are so many wonderful beaches on the Big Island. Thank you so much for sharing. Warm blessings from AZ. I can't wait to get back there. It's been 7 years.
This is an AWESOME video! My wife and I will be visiting some of these beaches during our very first trip to BI in May. Thanks to you, it’ll be easier for us to narrow it down to around 10 since we also plan to experience many other activities while on the Island.
Thank you for this video! I've been planning and watching videos for our Hawaii trip in April 24. I appreciate the maps and where to park and prices. Great video.
So amazing and helpful video! Planning to go there next May..Which are the best ones for snorkeling? At least the ones you loved more where you can see many different fishes.... In Ohau we love Shark's cove and Hanauma bay obviously...but we see there is a lot of marine life to see at Big Island too..thanks :))
Thanks so much. I would definitely say Two Step Beach and the Captain Cook Monument. I haven't been to Oahu yet, but when we do I'll have to check those out.
Perfect Video, exactly what the traveler needs to know. We’ll think and well done video. That’s exactly what I’m looking for. BTW: subscribed already :)) 😊
Thanks! We had no idea how much we would love this island. We had been to Maui and Kauai, but no one was really talking about the Big Island. I still can't choose a favorite, but the Big Island is amazing.
@@JordanOutsideTypical Hawaii...you can snorkel the North Shore of Oahu in summer...30 foot waves in winter. KUA beach is the same. Calm in summer July and by October 4 to 6 foot waves. Been there in both months.
Thanks the great video! One of the best vid on the Big Island! I am traveling to the Big Isalnd with a 11 and 13 year old girls. Which beach(es) would you say has the best chance to see dolphins and sea turtles? Thanks for the great work!
Thank you. We saw dolphins at 2-Step Beach and Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay). It's pretty common to see sea turtles at a lot of beaches. Have a great trip!
What an amazing video. How long did it take you to go through all of these beaches? I'm going in July just want to have an idea. Thanks so much for sharing.
That's a tough question, but here are my top 8. A-Bay Beach, 49 Black Sand Beach, Manini'owali Beach, Makalawena Beach, Mahai'ula Beach, Two Step Beach, Ho'okena Beach Park and the Papakolea Green Sand Beach.
Yes, I film with a drone. For the underwater footage I use a GoPro camera. We snorkeled at the first 24 beaches mentioned in the video. We didn't snorkel at the last 6 beaches on the list.
Great video! Just about anywhere you stick your head in the water on the big island you will see some sort of marine life. KUA is the most beautiful beach on the island in my opinion but only for a few months because in winter the waves are too high and rough. Capitain Cook is no better than two step in my opinion. Tough hike or a sort of pricey tour? We have done both. Fees for non Hawaiian residents? Is Hawaii not a state in the USA? Stick it to the tourists? 😂😡 I live in Colorado and I do not know if our tourist sites have discounts for Colorado residents but if we do I do not like it! One price for all! Without tourism and the US military/ government Hawaii falls apart! Question? Why have they NOT paved that road down to Makalawena trail?🤔
You left off all the good beaches on the east side. Most beach lists favor beaches that look similar to mainland beaches. You don’t need to come to Hawaii to see that. I like the white sand beaches, but love the ones with cliffs and dense vegetation. You don’t get those most places.
We didn't make it to the east side on this trip, but we plan on going back. We've heard so many good things about it. Which are you're favorites on the east side?
Pololu Valley on the north side at the end of the road. You have to hike down to the ocean. it’s cliffs by the sea and green. Keokea Beach Park. it’s not crowded and is very green. you can see the cliffs from the beach. Waipio Valley beach. you have 2000 foot cliffs and people surf there. there is a 1400 foot waterfall on the valley floor. you have to have a 4 wheel drive to take the steepest road in the world down to the beach. Laupahoehoe Point. it’s a mile drive from highway 19 down to the ocean. there is a lot of room down there. you’re looking back at cliffs from the park. Kolekole Park is about 14 miles north of hilo. it’s in a gorge and below a bridge. a river runs along the park. Honolii Beach is about 2 miles north of hilo. it’s the main surf beach on the east side and looks back on cliffs. there are a bunch of different beach names for the hilo locations. You can start at Liliuokalani Gardens and keep going east for about 5 miles with hidden treasures. the locations are green and rocky. there are tide pools and coves. even bayfront in hilo is a nice place to go. hilo beaches have fewer people and enough parking.
So much work to make this video! Thanks for sharing this with anyone who wants to visit the Big Island!
Thanks Matt! The Big Island was amazing just like you said it would be. 😃

Two Step Beach and the Captain Cook Monument are two of the best anywhere.

Two step is super and easy. Captain Cook is good but not worth the hike or cost of a tour in boat my opinion. We have done both.
