Rest In Peace Luis. Great inspiration!!
It's sad that fentanyl was involved in the deaths of all three of them
Farewell, mate. Your music lives forever
went to their very first concert at the Milk Bar in SF, CA!! 2010 Ive been a fan and his passing is heart breaking. Thanks for the inspiration and letting me in backstage. Great guy and amazing musician. Sadder world without you.
First time I saw then was like a punch in my face from the first second. I will remember that concert forever. One of my favourite bands.
Jesus this is 9 years old, I remember listening to it when it just came out. Sounds just as fresh 😎🔥
Awesome band - reminds me of some of the early 80's bands like Danse Society, Virgin Prunes, Cocteau Twins, Cure etc etc etc. Love the sound.
I still can't believe it! RIP Luis
I grew upon this fabulous music and didn't realize anyone was still making good post punk and dark wave. Bravo.
GenXartist Wench something to bring the kids to life
19 Years of 80 retro-sound and still no end. how cool is that?! :D
It's that fucking good.
carbonid solo that is a lot of sound, are there enough people to make sense of it, plus all those dimensions
Amazing Band! Genius, surprised they have not really blown up. They deserve to be huge!
Thank you Luis for the tripping sound, you´re a fantastic live band, we want to see The Soft Moon again :D
Wonderful discover. Very good band!
This was truly amazing, found out about this and was instantly hooked
Ребята давно вас слушаю вы лучшие!!!
I love them!
Luis Vasquez et tous le groupe....Bravo .j'ai pas écouté quelque chose d'aussi bon depuis longtemps.
+Johnny Azard Je ne peux plus jamais écouter autre chose
Absolutely love this band and their sound. This performance is great and makes me wonder when they´re going to come over here, to play live.
FANTASTIC
R.I.P.
They are the awesomest.
Im so thankful for KEXP, thankyou!
We are Soft Moon, Soft Moon are we.
love this band
They're just the best....
tremenda banda! , pueden insertarse a un género sin dejar de ser creativos. The soft moon suena como The soft moon, increíble.
monumentali!!!
Cheryl Waters is the plug
What does that even mean
I love KEXP radio. Holy shit. Thanks.
Badass! all around.
My favorite band in years. I catch them every time they come thru NYC... I hear the Joy Division influence, the bass lines can be very Peter Hook sounding... But that sure as hell ain't a bad thing to me...
Rest in peace brother
great!
awesome
Great band, saw them in Italy at a music festival, awesome!
Where?
Good Stuff!!
🖤💔✊🏻
wooooooooouh !!
man, this is now, but it's taking me back to my keg-party days. and i like it!!! hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Juste perfect •_•
great
Heard them the first time a few days ago as they played live as opener for Depeche Mode. Sure, not everyones Music. But I love it.
where & when did they support DM?
carbonid solo
All February concerts of European Leg of Delta Machine Tour 2014 (see archives.depechemode.com/past_tours/deltamachinetour/dates.html/)
how i would love to have that moog sub phatty !!!
great band, cool sounds
I think I'm in love with fall.
Cada vez que arranca una canción : waaaoowww
A nostalgia to the future.........!?!?
to show My deep respekt i took My unknown pleasures shirt in the first row to wear ...and its the best band and know how to play and to express i know... so to me the new Ian Curtis is alive....in a progressive sound of our Zeitgeist...new elements and i love Love love this sound like nothing before....
Killer Sounds Smashing together to form Delight*
....like when you've upset a bee's nest, but yet you are not alarmed by the situation*
Unbelievable
shouting "THIS BAND SOUNDS JUST LIKE JOY DIVISION" is a great way of casually indicating that you haven't listened to much Joy Division.
And people won't know why..... What Ian brought was indescribable. This is nice, but no.... Not Joy Division.
Never thought that once but okay.
no
i like that this might seem as though #snl featured this a few times during opening monologues but i mostly just really enjoy the music the soft moon makes and the artists kexp places in these situations - it provides me the ability to imagine being there live and also traveling time, sitting on the floor being intimate
"We are We" has a hint of Paul Reynolds style guitar playing from the band "A Flock of Seagulls" from the 1980's.
fuckin awesome cant wait to see them at the echo!
bass sounding like cocteau twins or somthing around the @11:40 mark. That was pretty cool lol
yeeaa the gud
Saw these guys at Austin Psych Fest. They were great! Drummer was working his ass off.
🌹🥀🥀🥀
😭😭
6:16 thanx that you don't show the band on your covers. please keep it like that !! The graphix are very good
Does anyone know what kind of pedal the bassist is using? Such a perfect sound!
Probably a flanger/chorus, reverb aaand distortion.
Adrian C Boss BF 3,Boss tuner, Boss CH 1 ,Boss RE 20 and some distortion
The Danse Society mixed with The Cure...hello again...love it
If I really have to say this song reminds me of such and such, I would probably have to point towards the early albums of Clan of Xymox
does any body know what the distortion style effect he's using?? also the echo style, like it continues the note played on guitar ,i know he uses a roland space echo but i wonder what else
sholy hit
Stemming and inspiration is one thing, but my response was about people who claim groups "rip off" JD. I agree with your opinion by far, Joy Division greatly shifted music and are definitely one of the best. Peter Hook's book is awesome and loved it and learned alot. My point is I'm just tired of people using them consistently to bring good bands down that may not really be looking at JD when writing. The 80's had tons of fresh ideas, there are tons of styles and groups to inspire from.
a lot of the bands are going to have joy division influences because joy division was one of the most influential post punk bands ever.
I am 75% sure that it is influnced for And Also The Trees sound. Great band.
Wow! So underrated!!!
Está mamalona la banda
Anything music wise that hits Seattle will end up in B.C. - so about 2 years ago we go to the Victoria Ballroom to see Prince Innocence and these guys opened - a hard act to follow for sure, really caught everyone by surprise x (Prince who?) Kimmels? lol vous, les Americains fous - funny
Hi, can someone suggest the names of the songs in this performance?
it’s in the bio
Orgasmo sonoro atemporal
This revaival of the post punk scene of the 80s is sooo awesome.
The only thing that really sucks is the name that they got.
NEO POTS PUNK! wtf?
Imho Robert Smith would be very proud me likes as well
You're almost Robert Smith! Good job 😁
Rico postpunk
I don't hear it much..some groups yes but other than a dominant bassline and your typical 80's drum rhythm, I don't see much of a huge sound alike. Joy Division wasn't the first post-punk band, nor were they the best at it...but that doesn't mean everyone who's inspired by the 80's is ripping JD off. I'm so tired of seeing every post-punk band with Joy Division comments flooding the video responses...learn more about a genre instead of just big names.
a modern goth influenced post-punk band that has a lot of Joy Division elements to them would be Soft Kill
I kind of agree with you on this, this sounds nothing like Joy Division. Actually, it sounds a lot like the Cure. But, Joy Division did things that were unheard of at the time (more their producer) - they did greatly shift music. They aren't just a big name, ALBEIT I completely see where you are coming from.
We Are We ❤
NIN-CHRISTIAN DEATH AND THE SOFT MOON
The bassist is hot...
I'm not even touching that one..
Live this guitar rips your head off just FYI.
flanger pedals all the way
I learned about these guys from my friend who owns a record store. I played him my latest demos and he put some of these guys on. Somewhat similar. I like my band better, but these guys are cool even if his vocals are terribly boring. Lose the delay on the vocal, dude. Or maybe just use it occasionally so it doesn't become cliche.
I dub thee..swirl punk.
haha this is jimmy kimmels band cant believe jimmy kimmel has a band
f*ck i actually meant jimmy fallon
Warren Lowell HAhaa, I see what you did there
Warren Lowell that explains #thelonelyisland
well... to me it sounds like they just ripped off the sound of early Dead Can Dance.
it sounds great and probably fun for them to play the songs. the vocals are not interesting at all! but you've got to start somewhere, right?!?
Never heard of these before & now I know why can't believe how bad they are sound like they only have one tune & it's all been done before 100% better...
+Lyndsey Franklin Dude, please go find a hole somewhere and HIDE there.
+Lyndsey Franklin If you're going to trash talk an artist at least learn basic grammar, please.
Dear lord that entire sentence is just a trainwreck, I can barely understand what you're saying
+Lyndsey Franklin punctuation is for everyone and its free! Go find some.
go get a life instead of pretending you are clever & leaving stupid comments ffs some people are so sad Yes You A.S Tatch Now are you going to make yourself look even more childish with another comment
Lyndsey Franklin hate is real, i'm glad you express it here, then again you might be playing coy, they are at least a percent good if someone can be one hundred more
post punk is not even a genre .
I am very sad
RIP Luis!! The moon miss yoy!
great !
