As many have already pointed out “Wasn’t looking too good but I was feeling real well” One the best lines in R&R history Keef turns 78 next week Amazing Keep on Rockin’ Mr Richards!!
Listen to the opening sounds on Live at The Hollywood Bowl. I mean, that Keith-guitar-sound is something I find myself like needing to hear as opposed to just wanting to hear. Keith & The Winos are now like my favorite band to listen to all the time.
What’s great about RUclips is you can love a hundred versions of this song and I will watch each one a hundred times each. Thank you very much. Thank you Keith . I thank musical gods every day you are with us.
Best Stones song Keith ever sang on; ''Gonna find my way to heaven, 'cause I did my time in hell.'' Keith's creaky vocal on this song is full of wry defiance.
Love raspy voices Bob Dylan, Bryan Adams and Keefer. There is a raw beauty in that sound. Don't let Mick ever tell you ya can't sing, it's beautiful. No wonder you do the Winos, freedom of expression! Your Life Book is a Masterpiece. Not afraid to let it all hang out.
Man how can you not love this sound! I love Keith's solo stuff and his edgy work with the stones. He and Ron Wood in my opinion are the best writers and performers of that free-style edgy sound we love to hear! Waddy as usual is also incredible. Waddy deserves more recognition than he has gotten over the years. And Steve Jordan on drums, incredible! The band is awesome backed up by Sarahs voice.
I saw X-Pensive Wino's on this day 12/18/1988 @ The NJ Brendan Byrne Arena Yes on Keith Richards Birthday he had Chuck Berry's The Great Johnny Jonson playing the piano on stage he played I Could Have Stood You Up but I did, did, didn't yeah yeah ! & Run Rudolph Run. I knew that Mick & Keith were on the splits and me and a friend sad we my never see The Rolling Stones ever again so we went out of respect to see Keith & his new band Keith didn't disappoint he was great ! Everyone kept singing Happy Birthday throughout the concert & Keith was so moved and very shy between songs he stopped to explain to the audience he was changing his guitar for the next song. He wished the audience a Happy Christmas & A Happy New Year !!!!! {Happy 76th Birthday To The Rockin' Rolling Stone !!!!!} 12/18/1988 Was A Long Time Ago & A Night To Remember !!!!! Bobby Keys RIP !
Despite all differences, they two are like brothers, and complete each other. Keef works good by himself, and with othe musicians. But with Mick, is just magic happnig all the time, 50 years working together, is not a small thing. (sorry about my english.)
Worked the bars and sideshows along the twilight zone Only a crowd can make you feel so alone And it really hit home Booze and pills and powders, you can choose your medicine Well here's another goodbye to another good friend After all is said and done Gotta move while it's still fun Let me walk before they make me run After all is said and done I gotta move, it's still fun I'm gonna walk before they make me run Watched the taillights fading, there ain't a dry eye in the house They're laughing and singing Started dancing and drinking as I left town Gonna find my way to heaven, `cause I did my time in hell I wasn't looking too good but I was feeling real well After all is said and done I gotta move I had my fun Let us walk before they make me run After all is said and done I did alright, I had my fun I will walk before they make me run
+Ricky Bobby Yes indeed he can, but Steve Jordan is actually playing bass on this song, And Charley Drayton is on the kit. They switch spots on a handful of songs throughout when playing with Keith. Interesting little thing that people miss.
Oh, like the drum sound a great deal. Wish I could hear the cymbals more, but I do have a Sakae kit (they used to make cocktail kits for Yamaha) that holds up just dandy against a massive John Bonham set. It's a cute, little thing that cost 644.00 with Remo coated Ambassadors installed. The heads were about the only weak point. The hardware is as tough as all my Tama/Pearl immensely heavy/heavy-duty stuff. But extremely small and light. Not thrilled with either pedal (included...) but I'm a snot who only likes DW or Tama on the hat stand. And the cost of the whole kit was a 9000 set. If anyone from DW gets this: is there a way to put the springs on the outside like the 4000 series? The zip-zip-zip thing on my foot or shoe rubbing on the spring kind of drives me up the wall. And I'm not paying 900.00 for the newer one when you don't even get a hard case n a tee-shirt anymore... But here you can hear all the drums. They cut, I'll say that much for Yamaha...can't hear the cymbals, bit still...
Michelle M I'm thinking that's the Yamaha kit with the bass drum so small that its suspended above ground level.God i love that kit.I haven't seen one in a long time.My friend had one and went through a really bad period of time and sold it and has regretted it ever since. One of the nicest little kits i ever heard or had the privilege to play and it stood well against my Pearl World Series cocktail set.In fact it made me envious.
Hmmm. You gotta like Keith. He's hilarious, which is how he manages to get the most gorgeous women. The book "Life," was one of the funniest books I've ever read (on audiobook*, did you think I was going to take a month to read it? :) *from the Overdrive app thru the library. Free. :) And half of it's Johnny Depp reading :p. You can tell a great player based on what they DON'T do. Many guys can flail and showboat, using 96 drums n cymbals and double pedals, just *cramming* every last note in there like they were getting paid for each one of them. Legends don't DO that. They don't have to. AND they get all the feel that those other guys often don't have. With very little or next to nothing at times. But it sounds phenomenal. Some guys thrash around an entire show but can't make a basic, straight beat interesting to save themselves. Jmo, as always. Great players play like they're being charged per note and they're broke.
Think of the female artists he's influenced image wise and musically. Chrisisie Hynde, Joan Jett,, Patti Smith Keith is the archetype Rock n Roll Star and he/s lived it No BS
@@davidmellish3295 Yes. Should leave the drums to Steve Jordan ! I read that Charlie Watts advised Keith to work with SJ , presumably because he can swing !
Waddy Watchell, perhaps the worst guitar player in the history of music, destroying one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. But that is his job. Listen to Waddy riff on "Oh, Sherry".
1)Probably Waddy couldn't carry Keef's guitar case either ; and next : (2)Let alone 'em in charge of his pill case. ( ; ... Geez, then let (3) Willie & The Suttons, Waddy in charge of the Hoosegow/Banks next....... I agree... *THE worst. Then there's a theme, next... Worst day ever for Prohibition/Drug Trade. Even Will Rogers called up & said he hated Waddy......
TheBigjohn527 Damn bro - too drunk to know if sarcasm or not. (yes sarcasm- rofl). Just because Waddy had a long career doesn't mean he can play. He obviously can't. He is shit. He has no feel or talent. He does a great job as a background musician - but put himin the spotlight and the only talent he has is his luxurious flowing golden locks - which became irrelevant around 1991. The man has no talent (most likely why Keef hired him - he wanted a Ronnie Wood who would just follow instructions). Sorry bro, the dude is just shit as a guitar player. He just can't fucking play. He has no emotion, no feeling, and no technical ability. I will refer again to his brilliant solo on "Oh, Sherry" - where he single-handedly destroyed Steve Perry's career.
Keith has never played this song properly since it came out. Whether its with these guys or the Stones, they play it almost like a pop song. The drums are supposed to be much faster.
As many have already pointed out
“Wasn’t looking too good but I was feeling real well”

Keef’s crude sound is just about the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.

Keith quote: "I don't have a drug problem. I have a police problem".
Keith and the New Barbarians were, in my humble opinion, one of the first punk bands.
Man how can you not love this sound! I love Keith's solo stuff and his edgy work with the stones. Steve Jordan can make a simple beat sound amazing.

I just assumed and you know what the teacher said about that.
+Ricky Bobby
That's Charlie Draydon on drums for this song. Jordan is playing bass.
No doubt. But Steve's playing bass on this one
@Alex MacDonald yeh, but that 4/4 bass drum pattern makes it sound like a marching band

Keith Richards must be knighted as a sir. He is an institution.
So true ...anyone who accepts a knighthood is automatically non-rock n roll
