Do you actually know what a musical masterpiece the Stones left behind with all their songs? So sometimes I can't get myself in front of such an achievement. Mick, Keith, Brian, Charlie, Bill, Mick T, Ronnie Wood... are actually aware of what these people have left us and will be. I freaked out. This clip in particular shows us a value that only someone who has it in their bones understands! The biggest rock n roll band in the world!!!!!!!!!! Unique and forever. RiP Charlie Watts, thank you for playing the best we have ever heard and will!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant filmmaking. The Maysles brothers knew how to shoot the subtle things that told a story, like the tapping snakeskin boots... They nailed GimmeShelter, and created the bet music documentary ever made.
Youth, lost love, self discovery, drugs, good friends, inner turmoil, things not turning out the way you wanted, living with regrets and pain but it was all beautiful and so human.
The ROLLING STONES look of surprise as they listen to "Wild Horses" (beautiful Classic) is refreshing ...-the restless stare of the members especially Mr. Charlie Watts is unsettling yet "oh so cool."-🌠💛😎 Rest in sweet Paradise. You guys are the ultimate Iconic Rock n Roll Blues Fusion Band.-Peace
This is one of my favorites. No matter who does a cover, none will ever possess the same emotional depth, grit, and intensity as the original. Even though some more vocally experienced and "perfected" vocalists have tried to reinvent this song, none can surpass the delivery of Mick's vocals and Keith's guitar.
Charlie Watts: " I'm not Jagger's drummer; He's MY singer, in MY band!". Charlie Watts = Manly Man + Drummer Legend!!!!!! ❤🇺🇸 Miss you already Stud!!!!
When this song was making it's rounds around the world I was in Vietnam listening to it and sending rounds down range. My age is 65 and so far it's been a hell of a life.(GOOD)!
Just saw my post from 9 years ago, wow. Was watching this, and one thing is for sure and it is that more than ANY band I can think of, The Stones have sure the hell stood the test of time, and it is completely amazing that they were playing on the bill with acts like Bill Haley and Little Richard waaaay back in 1963, and they are still around now. Along with the music what I like is they own it. I have never heard any one of them complain about the harshness of the rock n roll life or their drug problems, and they were right in the epicenter in EVERY era. Now that's something!
This scene in Gimme Shelter is what hooked me completely back in 1970 and like others have said here I can watch it over and over again, Charlie we miss you👏👏👏(🥁🙏)☘️🇮🇪
RIP Jim Dickinson piano player on the cut. Produced many bands. (Father of Luther and Cody Dickinson, North Mississippi All Stars).Had the great fortune of playing on a cover of "Run Run Rudolph" with Mr. Dickinson on piano.
It literally makes me cry to see something like this: we've loved this song for over 50 years, and we are seeing them listening to it shortly after they recorded it. It didn't exist before these guys created it.
Good God, what a fantastic clip. To capture this group of talented young men in an intimate, casual moment together, listening quietly to a new iteration of their creative work. All so comfortable and at home together. It's just beautiful, and such a privilege to have been able to witness their private creative process. Imagine how many such moments they had together like this over the years.
Everybody who's enjoying this should surely watch the RUclips clips with Jim Dickinson (next to Richards on the couch) in which he's telling about this recording session at Muscle Shoals. Very insightful and at times hilarious.
Funny, I just posted "Makes me grateful I grew up when I did, when new music was beyond words." but now I'm thinking you young folk have your whole lives to enjoy it just like I did, so that's not so bad... though I have to tell you, you missed some amazing gigs and festivals :):) ...do check out the 'Rolling Stones Rock and Roll circus', fantastic performance by the stones and others.
I love this clip, it shows a couple of young guys screened in a flash back while playing in a garage, drinking a bit, having fun, saying "Wow this one is good man..." looking like normal guys who will later be The Rolling Stones with millions of fans. Great
The Rolling Stones, for all their greatness and might, can also deliver a daring thing of beauty like Wild Horses...one of many, no less. The Rolling Stones are simply forever.
Charlie Watts face around the 2:40 mark is great. His expression is kinda ..." Well the song sounds good, but couldn't we turn up the Drums a bit more?"
Mick and Keith really blew it when they lost Mick. Even Charlie knew what a great musician he was. I also wonder how much Gram Parsons influenced them during the making of this album. Thanks for the great post fra!
Can't ever really know the true number of hours...the number days...the number of rehearsals...the number of shows...the miles traveled....all the faces flying past....No ...there has never been a Rock and Roll band who has experienced so much and did so well under all the pressure and deadlines that these guys faced. Absolutely the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World.
I love this version from Gimme Shelter. Of course I love anything from the Stones. This one is cool because it is early in the production process and they haven't dubbed in the backing vocals. It's just Mick's single lead vocal throughout. Kind of a unique sound to it. Also, you gotta love Keith's boots. Long live Keef!!!
There is nothing like raw, behind the scenes of a great band like the Stones. They kind of put things in perspective, the way they are meant to be seen and felt. This is also one of my favorite tracks from them,
OMG this is a priceless clip. More genuine than any "performance" video I have ever seen. A true gem. The boys were all in character for sure, which begs the question: does a photo of Charlie smiling exist anywhere?
Charlie's face is classic.....he's thinking, "who let this wanker in?" But he's too much of a gentleman to say so. These guys were so young, so high, and so intent on making great music. Pure artistry on film.
Brilliant, and great video, just imagine the memories bands like the Stones have, they are true musicians, they will never stop until they drop, not like today's manufactured pop stars who will make a million and put their name to some aftershave and then take up acting, This is real music by people that love the music. Thank you to all you musicians that pick up an instrument or write lyrics from the heart.

Me too man, that nod he gives during the ending keeps me coming back. RIP Legend.

Same here. Mick drunk, Charlie calm.
This is the moment in rock n roll history that I wish I could've been a fly in the room.
I thought the same. Haven't seen it again since the movie came out. Goosebumps from the beginning of the song..........
This is such a great melancholy song. RIP Charlie Watts.

I've always loved how Charlie brings the drums into this song. So cool, so right.
I love how when the cymbal hits, he gives it the "Ungh" face, like 'spot on.'
The Stones at their best time. Mick Taylor years were the most creative for the band.
This was filmed at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama around 1969. RIP Charlie...

Charlie Watts.....the coolest drummer that ever lived ❤️. RIP
This beats any reaction video! To see the creators get in the zone like this to their own creation is beyond words for me.
26 year old Mick Jagger, doesn't get any hotter than that.
A truly wonderful documentary. The Maysles caught it all, and the Stones let it ride.

He's the guy sitting on the couch next to Keith.

From the 1969 movie Gimme Shelter. An absolute must for any Stones fan
disorder51 watched it yesterday. Loved it. An incredible look at the sixties.
Try to find they next movie , which they decided not to realise , it is even better
The Stones at their best and Jagger at his worst. But then Jagger’s got so much money he doesn’t have to care what anybody thinks of him.
@@danielschaeffer1294 why so much hate? He was amazing and on his absolute creative peak.

It's a testament to Mick and Keith's abilities, to think that on ANY given day, they can write a better C&W song than three quarters of Nashville.
Idiotic comparison.
