this song has special meaning for me. I traced my family tree back 26 generations (so far) and imagine my shock when I found half a dozen Knights, Ladies, Dukes, Duchess, and then find a Queen of England, and then there are three Kings of France with the first one being my 24 great grandfather, Louis IX Capet de Bourbon, King of France. and then start working back again to find that my family was early settlers of New England about a hundred years before we were the United States. My family fought in the Crusades, on the sea as privateers, battled Indians, fought for kings and queens, and then fought for this country as officers of the American Revolutionary War, and later as officers of the American Civil War, and we have fought in both World Wars, Vietnam, and I joined the Army in 1984 and was part of Desert Shield and Desert Storm and came home on this date 30 years ago. my service ended in 2002 as a disabled veteran. My heart beats the drum of a Warrior every second of every day, and I would serve this country once again to save it. So yes, this song has special meaning to me and would likely resonate with my ancestors.

Thanks for this, I enjoyed it and probably never would have seen it if not for your channel. I am an American and I can't help but think how fortunate are we to have these men and women out there protecting all of us right this moment. It looks like an awful job to me and yet, they are all volunteers. It blows my mind. They are doing all of the hard stuff so we can sleep at night. They must be and certainly are warriors! It wasn't long ago and during the Trump administration. There was a sergeant, himself a medal of honor winner, who addressed an audience of journalists. In his speech he gave a warning to middle eastern powers who would make war on US forces or allies. Among other things he said, "...if you make war against us someone else will raise your children..." Sometimes it's the personal touch that's needed to explain the policy.

This song is amazingly done, and the lyrics are very powerful.
But this song has also left me (as all war related songs do) confused, and angry as tears rolled down my cheeks....
As kids we had it drummed into us:
~ share our toys, or have the toys taken from 3us;
~ use our words, not our fists;
~ be respectful even if the other person isn't;
~ show compassionate;
~ give to others, with no strings attached... etc
And here we are - ADULTS and I wonder what was the point; why did our parent/s even bother...
FN: In NO WAY does how I feel about war reflect on the men and women whom stood/stand strong upon the earth. Earth already drenched with the blood sweat and tears of those whom came before them.

I understand exactly what you mean. I don't know many people who actually like the idea of war. Maybe a psycho and sociopath. When my brothers and I talked about joining we all had the same idea that it is part of our responsibility as able body citizens to be willing to step up so those who didn't want to wouldn't be forced to. I like that we are purely volunteer. because it seems unamerican to force people to fight. Of course that was after 9/11.

In your everyday life, you should be mindful of all of those things. However, on the world stage there is always some a-hole that wants to start something. Pearl Harbor, World Trade Center, etc and unfortunately, sometimes you have to pick a side. When war is forced upon you, you must have warriors, if your way of life is important to you. It is a terrible, brutal, awful reality. Unless the entire world is threatened by aliens or something, I don't see it changing. It is sad. But I am so proud and thankful for ALL the men and women in the free countries who stand and fight when it is necessary.
