As Avran said, you really need to buy every camber profile, side cut, stiffness, and shape available otherwise you will wish you had when you are on the mountain and the wind direction shifts causing the cloud shapes to transition which drastically affects board handling due to micro snow condition changes. Click those links and buy those boards people!
Thank you for the inspiration now i have all models of never summer and step ons and still sit down to strap
@@MultiSneakerLoverhow are the Clews working out?
"you went to college after high school instead of being a snowboard bum and now you wanna be a snowboard bum but you're tied down!" that one killed me😂
Now I feel like buying more gear 🍻
That reminds me, I need to buy a directional twin soon.
As an old geezer, I wanted to learn snowboarding. So after doing my research, I bought some Craiglist dude's whole stock of snowboards, goggles, and boots he was selling (because he gave me a great deal), just to get the Lib Tech board with Rome bindings I wanted from it. I bought it all for $140, and so far, have sold the stuff I didn't want for $250. So I got paid $110 to get a good board to start out on. Now I've logged about 15 days this season on my free snowboard, and I've progressed from catch-an-edge newb to handle-the-blues-and-sometimes-a-black beginner/intermediate. For free. Preach it, Angry Snowboarder!
This is exactly me!!!! The FIRST time I ever saw snow in my life, I was 42 years old. I'm 45 now, and I bought my shizzle off of Facebook marketplace (from someone who was emigrating out of the country I was immigrating to)
CHEAP AF gear, but who cares? I learned on it, ground it up (saved a TON just from the rental expenses) and now I'm pretty much like you.
The ONLY thing I will buy is new bindings - WHEN these cheap, soft AF ones break or maybe before?
I absolutely see your point and agree however I’m still gonna do it
This is the message I’ve needed to hear. Thank you
This is gold. Almost bought a Scott Stevens Pro today at the shop at Meadows because god knows all I need is another board. #neverrideweekends
Loving the non specific gear top 5s. Always my favorite!
You don't buy a hooker ...Rent It!!! this is the only advice I remember after watching this awesome video!
You were on fire with that one Angry you left some of us out bro. Gen X 54 now retired, house now debt 3 kids grown up 10 boards, 10 bindings, 20 gortex pro outerwear and truckloads of coin to ride now finally all of the world and fuckin full time.Yeah it’s the reverse of a young ski bum. Let’s ride baby 🤙
Reason why I have a few boards (7), not a huge quiver but still a few boards. I ride 60+ days at a small resort on the east coast, few trips out west as well. Been riding since November and we only have 3 runs open so far. I cannot change the mountain features, the steepness or anything about it but I can change board from day to day to keep it fun and challenging. Saturday I did more than 20 times the same run, Sunday it felt completely different on another board. Even had a rare east coast pow day and I was ablte to try the Archetype.. super fun board in pow.
Yup... Had ancient boards (Palmer Honeycomb/Lib Tech Emma P, and old Ride bindings) so finally got a Capita Mercury and Cartel bindings last year. Made my days on the slopes so much more enjoyable. Does everything I need... I'm good for a loooong time.
I have a 165cm Flex 10 powder board where the rear binding is set way back so I won't sink in the wet powder as often. I have 161cm Flex 7 all mountain free ride board with a serrated edge for those icy days. I have a 157cm Flex 7 board all mountain free ride when I go up with my young son. I find the 157cm board is still too long so I want to buy a 154cm Flex 4 Twin board so I can ride slower with him and switch, ollie and butter while I follow him slowly down the mountain. Something that is more playful for the next 2-3 years until he can rip down the mountain on his own. Sometimes you need more than one board. It just sucks that we get more ice than powder up in the mountains where I live.
I'm filling my quiver because of you!!
@Angry Snowboarder I don't know boss, the Endeavor Archetype, first year Capita Asymulator and now, the Yes Standard Uninc have all been amazing recommendations.🤙🏼
My gf bought a lightly used '07 K2 WWW that's got way too much camber for her. I took it out for a rip today and had a blast on it. I guess I don't really need a new deck this year.
I have a 08 Lamar Kevin Jones, and a 19/20 salomon dancehaul 43
Both secondhand.
I have a quiver of 2. I'm okay with it. Just get out there and ride! Also just realized my boots are pretty fricking old, but they are soo comfy though.
Wish you did this review a week ago before I bought a new board! Add it to the other two I own!
Hahaha amazing 😂😂🙏👍 do I need to fill triggered with a quiver of 3 (tapered powder, all mountain directional camber, Rocker twin for park) with like 50+ days on mountain per season? Love it 🙏
The internet/FB groups will lead you to believe that on a 8" pow day your better break out the specialty pow stick or else you'll be hating life. Same goes for carving, you don't need a dedicated carver to lay trenches. As somebody that has been riding for 35 years non-stop, the first 25 years I had a three board quiver- rock, daily, and pow stick (just a longer all mountain board). I didn't get my first dedicated big nose, short tail "pow board" until about 10 years ago. I got caught in the quiver rabbit hole because of bad influences and no longer being broke lol.
However, I have come full circle since last year and am thinning the quiver heavily. I now find myself on a classic, all mtn, directional, and cambered board (I found a NOS Mullair I fucking love) 85-90% of the time now. I rode it on a very deep day recently and contrary to the internet, it did fucking awesome and only required a tad bit more effort than my "pow boards". The fact that all mtn boards handles the the rest of the mountain so much better without getting the shit kicked out of you is priceless. Quiver boards have their places but far from needed or essential.
Oh ya, I recently pulled one of my 13 year old my wall hanger boards down for the hell of it. I was surprised how well it still rode, it was a little on the heavier side but still a fantastic riding board.
Spend your money on a private lesson to learn fundamentals- a pretty graphic and carbon wont help you if you cant link turns - or if you need to spend money, a pass, lift tickets or boots that actually fit proper.
I SOLD TWO BOARDS, A SET OF BINDINGS AND A PAIR OF BOOTS THIS YEAR. AND DIDN'T BUY MORE. I'M OKAY. EVERYTHING IS OKAY.
I totally just won a brand new Polaris in a raffle, though...so I'm gonna need some gear.
I’m feeling a bit triggered!🤣
In my defense, I buy all the ones that you get excited about!
Word.
Best advice I’ve ever heard 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! So many people on Reddit posting their brand new quivers for that one trip "out west"
Reddit, land of the smooth brains. They tell people to lube their boa cables.
@@AngrySnowboarder absolutely, it is good for some noob entertainment though. I keep saying it, but I wish there was a place for real shredders to connect. Maybe you should start a sub?
WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT ME TO DO THINGS THEY COULD DO THEMSELVES? WHY DO YOU MAKE MORE WORK FOR ME?
Just go outside, plenty of boarders on the mountain @@benryan2009
When it hits home, it hits hard🤦🏽♂️
Last year(s) setup: 2011 flow quantum, size 12 Salomon factions, and old ass burton bindings.
This year (first year out of college debt) size 9 vans verse ranges, cartel X, and yes PYL uninc. Did getting gear all in the same season hurt? Sure, does it feel fucking amazing? Sure does. Now when I start looking at gear next year is when the problem starts
I just bought my second ever board. My first was a lib TRS, one of the fully rockered boards from yesteryear. I just bought a gnu finest, and it's another twin tip...but I ride in the Midwest and I can't justify buying a directional powder board. Should I have branched out a little more and bought something different?
Are you happy with your purchase? Are you going to use it? Does it fit your needs? If you answered yes to any or all of those then who cares what I think.
How many words do the Inuktitut have for snow?
Don't leave us, Avron!!! But real talk -- I'll show love to a new host. This channel has made me a better rider, and I'm rockin with you. Enjoy your season man 🤙
Got a 2 board quiver, a Yes Typo and a Gnu Zoid, rarely used due to Covid, so still like new. Sort of. I will ride more, got it.
Felt like you were speaking to me man lol. Is it worth upgrading my 2021 endeavor live? Had a capita outsiders before that. Anything out that that style but just better? Are the early rise/fusion rockers etc worth trying?
Ride more.
@@AngrySnowboarder Fine
How many different backpack speakers do I need in my quiver?
As long as they're loud you only need 1, maybe 2 for when your other is charging. Spend your money on some suspension bindings instead.

Each board in your quiver should be matched up with a coordinating speaker
man this feels like a drug dealer telling his top "customer" to slow down a bit because its worrying him
I just bought new gear. Last time I bought snowboard gear before now was late 90s. I bought new everything for a trip to Argentina and then Japan. I haven’t ridden since 2017, and before that it had been 9 years since I rode. In 2017 I rode my Burton custom from late 90s, wore all my gear from then too, except boots and googles cause both of those were toast. My goggles melted in my hand when I got to the mountain and I had to ride in sunnies. And my boots were also disintegrating. :( Crazy, cause all my gear still worked, I looked legit 90s retro, and I still burned everyone down the mountain and had ski patrol telling me to slow down. I grew up riding in Tahoe, so it’s still like second nature. I’ve been living in Hawaii 25 years that’s why I don’t ride, but I surf everyday still. Anyways, I got me one them there Orcas based on a recommendation from my surfer buddy’s grandson who’s a sponsored grom in Alaska. I thought I’d never go LibTech again since they sucked compared to Burton growing up, but he says the tech has finally caught up and now Burton sucks. So I’m kind of excited to see what this new tech is all about. I’m gonna bring my OG custom with me too just in case I don’t like the newer boards. I grew up on full camber, never worried about catching edges, never thought about it and it never really happened. But the idea of having a set back, volume adjusted, board with a floaty nose in pow sounds pretty rad to me. My Custom also worked just fine, or maybe I never knew the difference. Anyways I’m excited about new shit, it’s been like 27 years. But you’re right, it won’t get used enough! :(
You're the best snowboarder on the mountain.
@@AngrySnowboarder ha ha. My one move now is competent ass hauling. I think it’s being called jacket flapping these days… but I’m gonna try to get a little surfy on this little Orca if I find some Japow. Not sure what Argentina in august will entail, but I hear they’ve just got a big dump, and it’s the biggest early season dump in a decade. 🤞🤙🤙✌️
1 Park board, 1 Daily Driver and that ebay "Good as new" Pow Board for the annual trip to the Kootenays. Replace when and as needed. Not advice, just where I find myself as a 30-day-a-season guy.
My park board did me well for years until the board became the limitation.
I needed this video a couple months ago… 🚫💵
Maybe instead of spraying skiers I'll clap my board out on skiers so I can buy more boards. Flawless logic!
I'm not opposed to this.
Wish I watched this sooner, I just bought your NS/clew limited edition collab set up. Rip my rent
Rents over rated, having a clew isn't! Now rip it like there's Never Summer and always winter!
Best time of the year to trade on market place, or pick up a second hand barley ridden boards. Third season in a row trading up a board I don't need for one I want. Still rocking 2020 katanas. 2nd season in my boots. Have jacket and gloves duct taped. Till I can patch. My 11 year old still riding laps around foos on their brand new gear.
I ride a Jones Mtn Twin for the 6th season now lol. I also only ride 20 days a season
#5 made me feel seen. Thank you from a guy that has too many boards.
Best top five in a while!!! Describes over half the viewers!!! I see them in the coments too😂😂😂 Ride as much as you can and scare yourself/do things out of your comfort zone, ride with better snerberders and become a snow carnie if you want to make riding more accessible. Live off ramen and oatmeal for some weeks/seasons and your skills will improve. That golden orca won’t help.
Sometimes I just save my regular clothes/shoes money to buy snowboard gears. But you are right. riding more makes you ride better.
This episode is great
I'm at the point of fine tuning my set ups to have the most fun.
Will it make me a better rider?
Not instantly.
But, the more fun I have, the more I will board, and slowly get better.
Same here buddy, friends and family dont understand why I need 10 boards to test and find tune ×)
@@clementchatreaux2726 I've gone through boards, purely because demo days are basically non existent in Australia.
Can demo? Got to buy.
But we need to help the economy and the mom and pops stores stay alive!! Don't you have like 10 boards @angrysnowboarder ? All kidding aside; totally agree with you. When are the top 5 two quiver boards coming out?
You should try rossignol xv xavier delrue
I have the old model (expérience) and it s my best board ever.

LMAO the directed hate towards buckhouse without saying it 😂😂😂😂
I'm honest (to my wife) and I bought one recently just for display...
Also for the moment we have just crap snow and no pow 🤷🏽♂️
He told me to buy a new board. Mines 15 years old 😂 I’m gonna do it with a clean conscience
Nitro x Iron Maiden limited edition, got no.644.. Is that a good reason to buy a random board I didn't need?
You didn't get 666.

Imagine how bad it it for those of us who both golf and snowboard. I don't buy new stuff way too often, I just never get rid of the old stuff.
But what about Ted Theodore Logan?

Oh Ted such a bad choice for gear donation.

the TRUTH!
My 2010ish GNU altered genetics with the 'new' magnatraction. The base is done. My burton c14 bindings broke on the mountain. So I deserve some new s---. It's time and you can't change my mind😁
why so much hate for a true twins? But I really do enjoy riding switch and it has always kept me away from directional twins. I might try one in 4 years when I'll be replacing a board I bought this year.
If you can’t ride switch on a directional board it’s because you can’t ride switch
@@McStunna I didn't say I couldn't. I've never ridden a directional twin, because I got used to true twins. But as I said, I will probably try one of Jones' boards for myself.
So I go to college in New Hampshire. I go snowboarding every week 2-3 times. I started out with a arbor formula a broke it. Then I rode a huck knife for a year and snapped the nose. I want to stop buying boards so bad. I’m looking at the rome freaker right now. What do you think?
Need to learn how to properly land in order to stop breaking boards. It’s a great board but you’ll break it guaranteed.
@@AngrySnowboarder ok I’m
Buying last years version we will see if it will last a year. I broke my huck knife from a cliff drop in powder believe it or not
Oh I'm not surprised, you're torsionally twisting the board when you land so the power has to go somewhere. The board ends up taking the brunt of it and snapping.
Lol I got like 5 boards but just just end up riding my 2020 black snowboard of death and atlas setup, now that her cheeks are completely clapped l Just replaced it with the exact same setup this year so I can ride that and neglect my other boards but refuse to sell them because I like to look at em when I wax by bsod lol
this video gave me life
But every year they release those Union Custom House Bindings, those are limited!! You know you love Union, so hey.. Gotta catch em all
The answer to "why do people have so much shit?" can probably be gleaned from answering the question: "why do people trample each other to death to have a chance to buy shit they don't need at Black Friday big box store sales?" or go nuts at any sale, online or bricks and mortar store.
It's a desire that can never be satisfied. I guess people get a small dopamine hit from a purchase, but it wears off quickly, and they have to buy something else to get that hit again. Then they don't get the same acquisition buzz from a purchase, so they think they need to buy more and more expensive things, or a whole bunch of gear, to chase that same dopamine hit......
Been there, multiple times.
It's a hard hit to shake.
*puts fingers in ears* Lalalalala, I'm not hearing you!
UA speaks the truth!!!
The only reason i buy a new board is because the prior one almost disintegrates respectively. Sustainable riding if you will
..First ride: borrowed 152 Burton raceboard with Ski boots (it was 1996 and i 152cm too..).
First own board 1997: uhm i think it was white and blue..
Second board 2002: directional wide by oxygen (do they still exist?).
Third 2008: Ride directional twin camber wide.
Fourth 2013: Nitro Team gullwing, glassing comes off piece by piece.
Fifth 2022: Bataleon Thunder based in Angrys reviews. Loving it so far. With my third pair of boots now..
But the biggest jumps in those 25+years definately happened with boots and bindings. What a difference..
I need to buy a directional twin now. I live in a state that doesn't even have a 300' hill. Watching gear reviews, tutorials, and browsing different companies' web sites for new gear is all I have. It got so bad last year; I got gear for all my skier family members. This year, I've managed to limit myself to a new pair of the now defunct Adidas Acerra boots (best comfort and shock abortion for a stiff boot). But I miss the high.
Do you have a rope tow?
@@homealone5087 No, but I was looking in to buying wakeboards for the family for the non-snow weeks.
I really need to buy a snowboard now after this video. From zero to one
So what you’re saying is if I have a mortgage and car payments but not 2.5 kids I can instead buy 2.5 new boards?
HELOC your heart out and buy it all.
I never ride switch. It was -15F at the top of the of the basin. Solid: stiff directional, split: stiff directional. The rest is just noise
But you got to ride the new Lenawee lift!
Yes, but it’s twice as big (6 people) and faster. Fresh tracks are harder to come by. The new pali lift has the same capacity and same speed as the old one. This might ease the pali lines by drawing crowds away to lenawee
switch is fun. I sometimes push myself to ride switch only for whole 2 or 3 days. And oh, it makes you more comfortable on a board once you go back to regular stance.
Simply put: I can’t ride switch :-)
Bro I only own six! And you gave me one!
Dudes awesome
Reason #1 for buying new boards...keeping some of our favorite companies a float.
You're an enabler, but I try not to buy gear unless I have demoed it. However you cover all the niche brands that don't have much of a presence in the US.
Bold of you to think anyone with student loan debt has a mortgage 😂😂 you always make me laugh, and wonder if I would've gone to college if I started riding before the end of HS though.

@@ryancuda45my current stable (of 2) is a flat Nug I've had for 7 years now, and a brand new C2 libtech Cold Brew. I could use a camber board. The last one I rode regularly was over 7 years ago. Maybe maybe maybe a pow board after that, but realistically I get like 1-2 pow days a year. Prolly not worth it. If/when the Nug is useless, I think i'll be good with the Cold Brew for our west and maybe an Arbor Westmark Camber for the lower Midwest.

Yeah, I should ride more and horde money towards that pp nautilus 😂
For the aftermarket mark up(at least here in Aus), you could buy a new board for the next 40 years.
But, I also don't like cases that small(personal preference for a fat wrist)
Think the other way, more people buying new gear = more cheap used gear for us. Let them people who drive Tesla buy more gear and sell them at 70% off retail
I feel attacked...LOL
New top sheet designs and colors are the culprit for most people. 😂
hey at least they feed the used market...

I'm a city dweller and i can afford to collect all the Orcas. That is why!

Reason's to NOT buy new gear? Should have watched this before I bought new board, boots and bindings last week.....and your review of the Bataleon Cruiser forced, yes FORCED me to buy one you monster!
In my defence all my current stuff was old as shit, like me.
