Well, the blues has always been about feeling more than anything. It never concerned itself with technical perfection. I think thats the beauty of it personally.
ok, jc wasacz...I personally know Rory and will tell you right now...she makes a living playing and teaching music...she has worked her ass off since she was 16 years old doing what her heart has led her to do...she has had nothing but heartache and hard times dedicating her life to music! Why the hell would that bother you?? There are maybe a handful of woman that can even come close to playing the blues as authentically as she..so I am happy she is able to make a living playin and singin blues
Some of these comments - wow, so very ignorant. In 1974, when I was sixteen I bought an LP called "How To Play The Blues Guitar" by Stefan Grossman and Aurora (Rory) Block - I can tell you, it changed everything for me. So it wasn't Buddy Guy, or BB King or Robert Johnson that brought me to this music, it was Rory Block. I've heard Rory in concert, and she packs a lot of angst into a show, but that's the blues and she's got it bad. This woman can literally destroy a guitar, and not the way Pete Townsend does - she is a powerful guitarist and as far as I'm concerned, the premiere stateswoman of the blues.
It's realy great. To play the blues comes from the heard and not from a nation. It's not interessted where you came from, but it's a fact: Music is an international thing.
To those talking about her being "rich"...you think Buddy Guy and BB are poor? Maybe for a little while in their early years, but they're doing ok. Why can't we recognize that we're all the same, we all feel pain, and we choose to express it in different ways. Some people turn to the blues, others turn to being a-holes on RUclips.
I hate tradition. I love blues music. It don't matter if it's black or white, man or woman, north or south, this is serious blues from the heart and some fantastic guitar. beautiful
...OK...note to UN music fans....hey where is that CC now?...uh I can take you to 40 places evry night in Chicago where "Americans" are listening to great music...that the rest of the world is doin flips and twists to get a hold of...so chill...just because our radio sucks in the US does not mean we have stopped listening to great music...nuff said
Music is international, but the blues is a black american music, so to hear it done by a white woman in the netherlands is strange. You don't have to be black or american to feel the blues, but that's where the music comes from.
I remember Rory from Sopot festival in Poland in 1978!!😊I have singiel Rory!!
Rory Block is one of only a few blues players that possess the spirit & the necessary craft to fully express that music!
Rory Block ... LEGENDARY Blues musician !!!!
Rory... you are a wild note!! 💕🎶
O-M-G! Love those boots! She could be BOTH a dominitrix AND a blues singer! AWESOME!
Well, the blues has always been about feeling more than anything. It never concerned itself with technical perfection. I think thats the beauty of it personally.
She's awesome at what she does & how she shares her knowledge!!
After finding Robert Johnson I found Rory. Then no one else mattered when it came to the blues.
She’s one of the best. I hope she is rich.
Sister she's rich - rich in emotion and talent, and doing what she loves - that's rich

This chick is awesome, I can't believe this is the the 1st I am hearing her play
This a great vid. Bit of guitar instruction then the first tune EC ever sang on a record, The Beano album.

She does seem to play it a bit too fast for my liking I reckon :(
Listen to Roberts stuff.. LOL
...why does a gal like this gotta go to the freakin' neatherlands to get an audience...??
I Like Clapton's version better than this. It's slower and shows a lot of promising techniques and sound on his part.
How can a white and rich girl feel the blues?
Jc Wasacz better chance she has than you coming up with anything ... Other than dumb Azzzz
Jc Wasacz I'm amazed you can form a sentence
Jc Wasacz All white people are rich and have never had any tough soul challenges
Right?.....
Blues has never seemed very creative to me. Maybe the simple structure makes it easier to voice your emotions, but musically pretty boring.
David Klausa go ahead belt one out
Pure....shit.
Jc Wasacz jc go duhhhh
