  • Vaginal Prolapse comes in many forms and depending on the parts affected could be described as cystocele, rectocele, enterocele as well as uterine and vault prolapse. Risk factors can include history, age, menopause and others. There are many treatments available including both non-surgical, such as pelvic floor exercises or a pessary, and surgical options. Dr. Alex Hubb discusses this and more. More information online at www.slucare.edu

Your video explained the best out of all of the ones I’ve watched. You let us know how it would actually feel rather than just talk about what it is. Super appreciate that!🙌🏻

I couldn’t even believe it when I first felt like there was a water balloon coming out of my vagina!!! 😮 I was so frightened, and felt like a freak and angry that my body failed me like that. I now realize it’s a lot more common than I originally thought, but it still sucks!! I’m considering a pessary….😑

Nice leacture about Vaginal Vault Prolpase.
One thing I want to add is that , if prolpase occurs in old aged women with evidence of ulceration as well on the prolapsed vault , the good practice is to use pessary rather than surgical repair , especially in the cases of associtaed co morbidities of the patient. Moreover , once the vault is corrected by pessary , the estrogen cream can topically be applied on the ulcerated area for healing .

I am 71 have not been sexually active for twenty years. I am single and I have had a lot of surgeries. Because of those surgeries in the abdominal area, everything started to drop and adhesion development became a big problem in that they began to wrap around my small intestine and began causing IBS type symptoms, then after my total hysterectomy things got much worse as my bladder and my hemorrhoids really got worse, then I developed prolapse into the vaginal canal. I was sent to a specialist who I felt did not educate me well on the rectocele situation and he scared me about doing anything surgical because he said the repair surgery often does not work or works for only a short time and then prolapse happens again. I am otherwise healthy, my worst problem health wise is being overweight and 71. The pain that I have been going through has reached such an extreme point that I no longer enjoy life, I am afraid to go out in public due to bowel accidents, and the pain of bloating, cramping, huge hemmoroids that bleed, tiredness, headaches when I cannot empty my bladder or my bowels, depression and irritable all the time. I cannot live like this so I am on the journey to find the best surgeons near me which will be in Charlotte NC, I live about 35 miles south in South Carolina and do not want to go to the local hospital which I spent nine days in during a severe bowel obstruction as it is a very short staffed, dirty and disorganized hospital. I refuse to ever go there again. So, I must get help and it has to be a specialist who can determine whether its rectocele, or something other and then be able to explain what exactly can be done. There are days when I do think about ending it all as I can no longer live in so much pain and now my liver is acting up a bit due to the amount of Tylenol and Ibuprophen I have to take to just make it through the day. I hope your surgery went well and I must have a good result as this is my last hope of escaping the chronic and unbearable pain day in day out.

Standing or walking a lot in a day definitely makes it drop more. Even now bending down or over I can feel the pressure down there and I don't like that either. Mine happened after a back injury, and weakened my muscles. So disappointing, and when I was so very active! Frustrating.

The prolapse is worse since I had the cyst removed. Lots of pain, made worse by walking. Bladder and bowel incontinence. I am overweight but working on that. @@livinglifetthefullest7722 Definitely work on doing pelvic floor exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor. There's an Australian woman on RUclips, Michelle Kenway, and she has good content. I had the prolapse repair done and I am starting exercises. If you can strengthen your pelvic floor before you get into a Stage 3 or higher prolapse then maybe you can avoid surgery.
