I can't believe this isn't taught in schools, I grew up being so paranoid, scared and ashamed of discharge because I didn't know it was normal til I was like 16, women should not have to feel this way about their natural bodies and functions. Also thank you so much for being so light hearted while still educating and incorporating humour into it
Right? I was always using panty liners and the only thing I did was get a bacterial infection because of them and I was allergic and I did know it. As soon I stop to use them, the weird discharges stopped.
omg yess, i really dont like the fact that many of us grow up not knowing that its normal, for me i really thought something was wrong with my body 😓 i hate to think that there are other younger girls out there who dont really get to ask anyone for advice or help :(

I'm a doctor and I can say that this is BY FAR the video with the most EXPLAINED material about discharge I've seeing so far in my life. Most than books and material of medical school and forums. This needs to get viral and translated.
Right? I would ask my mom about discharge and she would tell me she never had that growing up. So she always made me feel like I had something wrong down there lol.
What a wonderful teaching. I was so scared even told my mom that I think I have cancer. I am now experiencing a cream like discharge and have an itchy thrush around my vulva. Thank you, doc for this excellent teaching. Continue to do this good work. You are a God sent, called to help women.
" I prefer a black doctor", "I prefer a white doctor" How's about, " I prefer a doctor who cares about my health and is qualified to practice medicine no matter what beautiful skin color they have?"

I do think there are also issues with minority women have certain issues due to genetics, ex Keratosis Pilaris, certain vitamin deficiencies, which a minority doctor would be more apt to diagnose due to exposure of the issues. Hello, thank you so much for leaving me this comment and for sharing your story. I really appreciate that you’ve taken the time to say this and it’s made my day ☺️and you’re absolutely correct- it’s never too late to learn something new! 🤓 👩🏾🎓
It’s crazy how many of us thought something was wrong with us for so long. Like why don’t they teach this in sex Ed ? I was so ashamed of my vagina of my body and mostly horrified of ANYONE especially a boyfriend seeing my underwear. Both sex’s need to learn about this. IT IS NORMAL
Yeesss!!!! 100% agree with you. Could feel like you have to prepare yourself before doing anything together. It's quite intriguing how many women are coming out and saying they too have felt wow my whole life I thought what's wrong with me? We've been so quiet about it.
Too many parents get uptight about what schools are allowed to teach their children. Luckily I had parents that were not fickle about Sex Ed. We discussed Sex Ed so much that by the time my friends were having sex in H.S. and getting pregnant, I had absolutely NO DESIRE!
Sophia Grace Not a worry, that’s how schools are in the US: inconsistent and only a proportion get this education in High School... I got this education in College...
My daughter is 10 yrs old and she's knows about the period but not all about the other discharges. I will be saving this video to show her at a later date.
Show her now. I would get yeast infections very young but to me it was normal. I was always itchy down there but again that was my normal. And I never discussed that with my mom or anyone. I had no clue it was an issue. I'm just now learning much of my vaginal issues are related to my diet high in sugar and carbs
I'm a medical (physical therapist assistant and massage therapist, so maybe paramedical) practitioner and I've never heard of TV before. I really appreciate your work. Thank you for these educational videos!
Genuinely? Schools can get sued by parents. They have to be very careful about what they teach OTHER people's kids. Most schools go the simple route and skip it entirely. Also, there are a LOT of things they "should" teach in school, to the point it's just too much. At some point, it's on you to look it up and research for yourself, or to ask your parents, or whatever. Schools teach too much as is, we need to roll back some of our education.
Heaven Nunya they have sexual education, they SHOULD include this, all I learned from SE in school was “use a condom” and for girls the information In this video should have been at least slightly covered. Also, you said they have to be careful what they teach other people’s children, they usually have a letter sent to parents with all the information that will be taught for them to give permission for their child to be taught this. I’m pretty sure you’re a male, therefore your input is not needed on this comment section🙂
@@katielololol I'm a woman, and I don't appreciate your sexism. What made you think I'm male? The fact I disagreed? Sorry if I'm being a bit salty but it really pisses me off when people assume I'm a man just because of my opinions. It's sexist as hell and there's literally no indication of my sex through my words. They want to teach as wide an audience as possible, right? So they want SE to be as uncontroversial as possible, I don't know about you, but when I was in health class, they also discussed that if things go outside what is considered normal for you, you should check with a doctor. We also have the internet. Add in the fact that most young girls aren't going to sit through it and listen anyway because no one likes hearing the details of this shit wen they're young, especially in school or from your parents, it'd be kinda pointless. Most adults don't even remember basic history classes, why in sam hell would they remember this? As I said before, there a lot of things you could say "should" be included in education. Fact of the matter is, there's too much. At some point you are responsible for yourself. We need to be cutting back education requirements, not adding onto them. Kids are burning out from being indoors all day and having their attention spans pushed to the limit. That is a far bigger issue.
@@heavennunya809 I would be a bit more with the other comment if I haven't seen with my own eyes how my female classmates deliberatelly didn't heard to both S.E. teachers we got, three if we count the class our biology teacher, a male medic with more than 30 of experience who make us know they can do any doubs related with sexual organs and he can call the other female teacher if they felled a bit ashamed of their questions and felles more inconfidwnce with her. To mak it, short just me and some boys take it as usefull and taked notes, not just for the exam cose most of it wasn't. It wasn't at least in general for the home education, becasue they talked all days of haviang sex, using or not, anticonceptive pills, ( condoms were not in discussion for some reason). It was all so confusing to me to discover their parents were angry of this classes results, ...for talking about sexual topics? No, because they talked so much bullshit when there were at home about the topics given, that the teacher nedded to give provs how they didn't give content based on opinions and based on scientific succesfull studies.
@@aylenpons6682 It's a general issue with education in general lately. It isn't just the education system that's failing, it's also the fact that parents have gotten lazy. They really should be paying more attention to what their kids learn in school and also help make sure their kid is learning and retaining information by teaching the importance of that information. But, most parents just go "they're supposed to learn in school" and treat school like some sort of free babysitting service. It's incredibly frustrating. As a side effect, you have a bunch of bratty kids who don't pay attention and don't take advantage of their education, end up going to college because they were told to, and then complain about how their life sucks later when they never took anything seriously. At least that's been my experience with my fellow age group of Gen Z and some Gen Y.

@@faithodeh5968 Discharge is normal, you don't have to stop it. Use a small pad or something to protect your underwear if it's a lot. Just look out for signs of disease or other problems, which this video explains how to spot.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I'm sending this to all my girlfriends and especially my daughters. This is knowledge everyone needs to know.
Me too. I'm 37 and I've always thought that ANY type of discharge was abnormal. My parents never spoke to me about sex and sexual health and also, back when I was in school, sex education was virtually non existent.
I am a teenager who can’t go to the doctor and I didn’t learn any of this in school. This is the first video that has actually made me feel like my discharge is normal and it’s common. Thank you sm
I wish schools would teach men about women’s bodies like periods, discharge, etc instead of separating the women and men into different rooms during sex Ed because they could have a girlfriend, sister , or daughter someday so I find it important to educate both genders.
When I was taught about puberty, periods etc in school they didn’t separate boys from girls but that does happen in other schools so I do agree with you.
In our school, although both boys and girls were sperated we all learnt the same things. And boys would have to learn about periods and pregnancy aswell.
My anonymous question to my 7th-grade teacher was "does the egg fall out before or doing menstruation?" because of it. He didn't know. Showed mom and she said she didn't know. I ignored after figuring it had to be normal since it wasn't doing anything and I'd had it for years.
@@killerdolphin6 that's just sad,I had sex ed but they taught us about how pregnancy worked instead of telling us about periods, foreplay or even wearing a condom
I was so scared. I just figured I have thrush and I have literally been freaking out. I was going to call my mom but this has saved me. I even got scared I have an infection even if I haven't had sex. Thank you so much Doc. God bless you.🇳🇬❤️
Shoutout to my very first boyfriend with lots of ''experience'' who truly believed vaginal discharge ONLY happens when sexually aroused and nothing else.
Lol, though women do produce discharge when horny or maybe sexually uncomfortable or stimulated down there or when seeing anything sex related, it only happens because your body was trying to prepare itself for sex and automatically lubes you up whether you like it or not. Maybe it has to do with hormones. Its the same thing with random boners. Still though, its funny and stupid how being wet means horny when it does not. But stimulation or seeing adult stuff does make more discharge to get the peepee in. Which got me thinking, its sad for the girls who have been shamed for "enjoying" being raped because they are wet when it's really just stimulation

Literally subbed so fast cause you’re talking about one of my fave special interests in such a raw, fun and enlightening way. I love it!!! Also I didn’t know about the first STI either 😮
In my experience, being a Californian, students are taught sex-Ed from as early as middle school, but I feel like I’ve never learnt ENOUGH about my own reproductive health. Even throughout high school I didn’t know that vaginal discharge was normal to women during puberty!! I used to worry that I was different from others 😥... this definitely needs to be discussed!!! Thank you so much!
Yeah see, we didn’t learn details like these... the details that are needed ... the only reason I learned about discharge was from like RUclips or jokes from online, if I didn’t know it was normal I would be terrified
I had chlamydia. I had no idea. I had it for about 6 months. The reason how I found out because I went to get my yearly exam. I was so shocked because I had 0 symptoms. Luckily I didn’t have sex with anyone after that one person so I wasn’t spreading it. But ladies and gentlemen if you are sexually active get tested frequently! Having a STI or STD shouldn’t be a shameful thing. It happens! Just be responsible
You came out through a vagina, as everyone else. So you should know everything about it. Those informations might come handy one day, for a daughter for example.
In my country sex or anything related to it is taboo topic. So not even our parents talks about em let alone have sex ed class. Woman are shamed and embarrassed to even talk about these or get any proper guidance. Videos like these are really informative and the way she described it was really nice! Will share it with my friends ❤️
They should start teaching this at school. When I started to get discharge at 11, I was too scared to tell my mom because I thought something was wrong with me.
It’s crazy how certain topics in female body is not talked about in school. For instance, bottom of underwear can look stained even if it’s clean due to acidity of virginal discharge. I was only 20 when I found out and yes I’m a female.
This really helped me A LOT, I come from a strict religious household so my parents never thought me anything about my body or the body of the opposite genders growing up, so every time (till this day) I thought that the discharge was a sign that something was of etc. I’d never had the courage to ask someone let alone my mom so now that I finally know that it’s normal I can have some peace in mind, so thank you so much😭🙏🏻
My late mum taught me well, she was a nurse , vagina care should be every woman's lifestyle , I love to watch experts speak on feminine care and Dr Simi said it all !!! Shared and Subscribed 💃🏿
Good morning from Phila PA in the States. This video popped up in my feed this morning out of nowhere. I so appreciate this. I am 56 years old and learned some new things today. I just subscribed to your channel after watching.
Because as adults when we think of sexual health it goes straight to the sex part and the health part is overlooked. It is so sad how we get embarrassed about sexual health but everyone has sex. imagine you could be having oral sex and inducing all these bacteria without knowing. Madness.

@@emileigh6524 ... No one says she or being "educated" black is an Anomalie at all here? Where did it come from that you have injected that out of context? What are you trying to imply?
I wish we were taught this in school normally. I can't explain the embarrassment I felt when my boyfriend was surprised and first found out about panty liners and that I wore them, that I had to explain why I wore them and that women typically get regular discharge... Even though I had full knowledge that it was normal, I still questioned if there was something wrong with me. I'm so happy I found your channel and videos! Thank you!
Wingstofly Musictolife it’s probably good to wear panty liners I always use cotton underwear like she said it’s the only kind I like, and it gets so messy but who wants to wear an uncomfortable panty liner like a pad when it’s not your period. But it does seem like a good idea to keep your underwear clean and now have to constantly wash them. So embarrassing
I don’t wear panty liners often for the reason that I’m constantly on the move and so then the panty liner gets all clumped up and it completely defeats the purpose. Idk if that’s normal but I do wear panty liners. But I normally wear them when it’s getting closer to my period. Other than that, I don’t wear them unless I wake up after a -cough- NSFW dream -cough-
You should speak about spotting in peri-menopause, something new for me! I am wondering why i am bleeding (spotting) , 3 days after my period finish? And it last 4 days and it stops. I think my body is preparing for the final step of my life lol
Thank you Doctor for mentioning spotting after menopause. I had very slight blood spotting a few years after my periods stopped. No other symptoms. I felt silly saying anything to my doctor - it might have been a teaspoon or a little more a day. But, I told her and she had me get a biopsy that day. I am blessed that my doctor listened as it was early stage endometrial cancer. All I needed was a hysterectomy with oophorectomy. I didn't need radiation or chemo because the cancer was contained. I understand women are often diagnosed for endometrial cancer after it is terminal, due to the lack of symptoms. Spotting is a big deal after menopause!

I was 17 when I figured out that discharge was normal. The fact that I wasn’t taught this in school. They should teach us this 💔 it’d be better if they teach this to both genders but you’ve always go the immature ones
Liberal schools want to teach gay, lesbian, transgender and even tell kids they might not really be a male/female to intentionally confuse them but they aren't interested in teaching what we "Know for Fact" about our bodies. Discharge is probably the single most confusing thing that causes great stress that nobody talks about.
@@nunyabuisness7552 Oh no! God forbid kids are taught about different identities and given the language to identify themselves with instead of being confused and ashamed for years or even decades! Hello. I've been fully vaccinated since September and since then my periods has changed. I used to have normal to heavy menstruation for 3-4 days. Now, I only have spots. My interpretation of this is my uterine lining has thinned since that is what menstruation is right? The uterine lining? So yeah, should i be worried?
The amount of views ( 1M in 2 weeks) shows how this information is of interest to many and yet not discussed very often by professionals in public spaces.
I read somewhere that a clear filmy (stringy) discharge is a sign of ovulation. And the timing of it makes sense to my cycles, so I believe it. This is good knowledge to have if you want to get pregnant or prevent it.

I actually found out that my husband was cheating on me because I was diagnosed with trichamonis twice in a year. Now mind you I was tested every 3 months at that time and knew I was clean I was also only sexually active with him. Well this put a red flag up, then about a week later my husband gets a phone call saying his daughter was born. First off I had not given birth, second we had only been married 6 months at the time of her birth. After dna testing confirmed he was the father, needless to say we got a divorce.
*PLS READ:* The yellow discharge seems to be causing some anxiety amongst some of you so I thought I would clarify. *Light yellow discharge with no symptoms of itching, burning, offensive smell or abdominal pain can be normal.* Yellow discharge does not always mean an STI.
-----------------------------------------------
But, some STIs can give a classic yellow discharge so its is important to take into consideration other features such as: what is normal discharge for you, and if there are any other symptoms or if you have had unprotected sex (sex without a condom) especially with a new partner- which will increase the risk of having an STI. If you have never had sex, it is unlikely that you will have an STI. Hope this helps!

Online stalking can lead to real-life stalking.
Try and keep comments as vague as possible, not giving away too much about your identity, life, or descriptions like age, height, or physical appearance.
The same goes for location. Try not to give away any info on your schools, teachers, and stuff like that since even the smallest things can be traced back.

I do think there are also issues with minority women have certain issues due to genetics, ex Keratosis Pilaris, certain vitamin deficiencies, which a minority doctor would be more apt to diagnose due to exposure of the issues. Why is this not taught in schools, i feel like this should be a part of basic education
@@heavennunya809
I would be a bit more with the other comment if I haven't seen with my own eyes how my female classmates deliberatelly didn't heard to both S.E. teachers we got, three if we count the class our biology teacher, a male medic with more than 30 of experience who make us know they can do any doubs related with sexual organs and he can call the other female teacher if they felled a bit ashamed of their questions and felles more inconfidwnce with her.

@@KarleeCampbell it's even worse, he thinks he's the one who caused it. Like he's some sex god.

I don’t wear panty liners often for the reason that I’m constantly on the move and so then the panty liner gets all clumped up and it completely defeats the purpose. Idk if that’s normal but I do wear panty liners. But I normally wear them when it’s getting closer to my period. Other than that, I don’t wear them unless I wake up after a -cough- NSFW dream -cough-
@Ekta Bruh, idk. I'm a 16 year old that fantasizes about anime guys.

And here I thought I was smart"
They changed it from STD to STI. Why? I have no clue. (Edit: Alright guys I know now. No need to keep messaging the same answer).
I am also expecting "D" hahaha
Because it went from being classified as a Disease to an Infection... I guess disease sounds more permanent 😂
Sti is infection. Std is disease.
Omg same. I feel for it too 🤣🤣🤣
You should speak about spotting in peri-menopause, something new for me! I am wondering why i am bleeding (spotting) , 3 days after my period finish? And it last 4 days and it stops. I think my body is preparing for the final step of my life lol
This comes on my list of "Things I never learnd in school but should've"
Her makeup is so beautiful. I felt like it had to be said as well💕
Yes. Perfect hair as well🙂
Honestly she’s just beautiful in general too!

Thanks girl ❤️✨
Whenever my future baby girl is older I'm showing her this video for education. Everyone needs this information.
Wow! What a lovely comment! I'm so pleased that you have found this video to be so valuable that you will be showing it to your future baby girl. 😍Thank you for your support.
School authorities should include this in their programs. Thank you for speaking so openly to us !!
I was 17 when I figured out that discharge was normal. The fact that I wasn’t taught this in school. They should teach us this 💔 it’d be better if they teach this to both genders but you’ve always go the immature ones
Is it very educative
I never heard of STI before. I learned something new.
So many saying “why are we not taught this in school?!” The real question is, why are we not taught this by our parents????
Probably because they weren't taught about it in school either.
@@ChicNuggetu exactly lol
Thanks a bunch
Liberal schools want to teach gay, lesbian, transgender and even tell kids they might not really be a male/female to intentionally confuse them but they aren't interested in teaching what we "Know for Fact" about our bodies. Discharge is probably the single most confusing thing that causes great stress that nobody talks about.
@@nunyabuisness7552 Oh no! God forbid kids are taught about different identities and given the language to identify themselves with instead of being confused and ashamed for years or even decades! I agree the education system is shit when it comes to sex ed, but let's not insert bigoted opinions into the conversation.
When you thought you have the yellowish-green discharge but it's just the white one 😅 (cottage cheese consistency but looks yellowish, at least to me). I experience white and clear discharge depending where I am on my cycle. I've always wondered about the white one and just notice it when I pee. This video is really helpful especially is a luxury from where I am.
As another female GP, THANK YOU for this video. So helpful to have such information presented in an accurate yet simplified and clear way. No amount of my explanations in a 15 min appointment can make up for a concise, replayable information resource from a warm and caring presenter. I will be directing my patients to your channel from now on!
You know it's a good video when a quarter of a million people thumbs up it and it's still going strong after its original preview!!
Every woman really need you
I've learned with you in 15 minutes more than I learned in my whole life regarding this matter!!
I will be sharing this with my daughter. I wish someone had taught me about discharge when I was starting puberty. Thank you for making this video.
I grew up without a mom, just my dad raising me! I'm 25 and recently i've been doing some research to just learn about my body that I was never taught! Thank you SOOO SO much for this. I just watched a couple other videos of yours and it brought me so much comfort AND knowledge! Thank you for helping my 25 year slef become more knowledgeable!!!!
I do have a mom, but she never sat down to teach me stuff, only period. I didn't even know what discharge was when I was about 12-13 and I was worried about myself lol
@@hi-pz5vm yep you can’t expect a dad to know this but a mom .. they should teach us this
trust me, moms don't teach us this, as they probably don't know it themselves
@@6maria94 they should try to learn as we are since they are adults themselves.
same
I didn't search for this video. But gladly its recommended. I need to know about this, coz I'm a woman. And Iam actually worried about my health. Thanks for this.
Great to see A BLACK Doctor who can give us great informations.
Why is it important that she is black
@@josey1296 It's important because black doctors are not very common, so it's really exciting to see a successful black doctor. Many black people such as myself prefer black doctors because of the long history of white doctors mistreating and misdiagnosing black patients. Seeing a black doctor is honestly just comforting.
Great to see a COMPETENT doctor whose skin colour doesn't have the slightest impact

I really appreciate the video illustrations. So many of the picture illustrations or descriptions online look the exact same to me I had no idea how to differentiate between them. Creamy? White? Transparent? Runny? Sticky? Egg white? I was like bruh that’s all the same thing what 😭
I’ve never heard of trichomonisis vaginitis
I got it and my former doctor didn't diagnose me for a year.. She didn't even think about the possibility. I was shook.
yeah same none of my doctors have ever mentioned it
@@aa.4639 may I ask, how did you find out after a year of not knowing? Did you have to request it? Did a different doctor diagnose it?
@@ton3016 My doctor gave me vaginal antibiotocs 5x in one year. Nothing helped. I insisted that i want a second opinion. So she sent me to a specialist for STDs. He did all the tests and confirmed that i have trichomonas. There is only one specific antibiotic that helps, it is taken oraly only once. I was OK the next day. My partner also got a dose. Look out for symptoms of green discarge, extreme vaginal pain and discomfort and a nasty smell.
Isn't it crazy, that there are still so many men that don't understand that women's vaginas discharge fluid anytime, regardless of arousal or not. Discharges happen all the time, feeling wet and moist is a constant thing. It baffles me how ignorant and clueless some men are about their partners's bodies! Many thanks Doc, your videos are informative and very good!
As you can tell from the comments most women are clueless about their own bodies too.. especially as adolescents. I think this topic needs to be taught at school as part of sex education.
That’s because they don’t need to.
It’s none of their business.
@@13DarkMelody I disagree! Men should know and have a better understanding about women’s bodies and functions too.. be it as fathers, husbands or partners!
@@cambridgelassearth3685 I don’t want to know about a dudes bodies or what gross stuff is goin on down there. Just like men don’t want to know all of the gross details of a woman’s junk either. Kills the drive ya know? I’ve overheard dudes talking about how pussy leaks like garbage & all sorts of stuff like that. A lot of American men also think that male genital mutilation aka circumcision is beneficial. Smh
Yeah ,they don’t need to know things that don’t effect them.
Especially a boyfriend or husband.
@@13DarkMelody that pfp tho
I smile when she said "it's hard to embarrass us" coz there is nothing we haven't seen or heard.. coz I am freakin embarrass to go to the doctor and tell someone like that, coz I'm scared to be judge 😩 and she (Dr Simi) gave me strength to seek help, I love you Dr. Simi ❤
Im so happy in learning this at a young age , so when i get older, i will already know 😌
In school we learn every single detail of the heart for example so I don’t understand why we don’t learn anything about the vagina.
Somebody must be too embarrassed to talk extensively on it. 😕
I didn’t realize how normal my discharge was! I’ve gotten tested and swabbed so many times because I swore I was producing too much and that something was up. But no, lol I was just paranoid. Everything’s fine lmao
renée elizabeth same lol I used to be like are you sure
Girl you just got a WAP!
Me too!

Fiza s 😂😂😂😂😂
I actually found out that my husband was cheating on me because I was diagnosed with trichamonis twice in a year. Now mind you I was tested every 3 months at that time and knew I was clean I was also only sexually active with him. Well this put a red flag up, then about a week later my husband gets a phone call saying his daughter was born. First off I had not given birth, second we had only been married 6 months at the time of her birth. After dna testing confirmed he was the father, needless to say we got a divorce.
Wow. Very sorry!!!
Sweet jesus
Sorry you had to go thru that!
Sorry to hear!! Hope you took him down for alimony!!
My goodness gracious!!!
What causes virginal itching during pregnancy? Is it advisable to use tissue paper to clean up when urinating or towel?
