Sam Tompkins, that sings with Ren is not the videographer, that is Sam aka Samuel Perry-Falvey, who is a genius in his own right. He worked with Ren from early days and is behind many of Ren's one-takes. If you watch Power, that is Sam the videographer driving and jamming along.

FYI Ren did attend the University of Bath for the performing arts, but he wasn't there for long due to being overcome with his misdiagnosed illness. He couldn't attend classes and ended up withdrawing from Uni and was bed ridden for years from his Lyme disease. In essence, Ren is the pure definition of being self taught as a singer/songwriter/rapper, multi instrumentalist (guitar, bass, piano, drums & beatboxing), actor, poet, director, music producer & story teller. BTW the 180 takes he talks about in the Black Pegasus interview is an exaggerated amount that he meant that they had to due it an extraordinary amount of times compared to all his other work . Also it wasn't the trilogy that was a difficult one take, it was Money Game part 2 that they had a hard time with due to the intricate blocking, timing and choreography in that performance piece. The story he told about Genius was that he almost got his by a car a couple of times trying to get that one take done. One last note, Sam Perry-Falvey is Ren's main videographer, Sam Tompkins is his other friend who is an amazing vocalist who Ren discovered busking on the streets of Brighton when Sam was 16 yrs old, befriended him and helped Sam in developing his own talent. Sam is now signed with Republic Records and has his debut album and 1st European/North American tour coming up soon..
The damage you see on Ren's guitar in Jenny's tale was done during the making of Money game part l (he steps back on the guitar after giving bag man eyes)
I just wanna add: i'm sure you've heard the lore behind this by now, How Ren read an article about a young boy stabbing a young girl, and the quote from the article "It's such a shame", and how the first two tales of Jenny, and Screech were inspired by that article. What isn't mentioned enough imo, is the way he designed the songs to repeat the beginning at the end. "it was a clear, dark night" and "our story it (starts) right at the (end)". Ren intended this as subtle commentary about how we consistently hear these stories over and over without fail, along with adding the quote from the article "It's such a shame", which is a jab at how people disingenuously react to them and move on like it's not inevitable that it will happen again. So when Ren originally sat down years later to write Violets tale, his only rule was to again insinuate the repetition. And thus, Violets Tale, with it's generation trauma, was born. None the less, he remained true, both by repeating the start at the end, but also by making it so that the end of the tales, are just the beginning. This to me is the most impressive part about it all. It was just a genius masterstroke of creativity, on top of the already insanely impressive display, and I feel it is all too often overlooked due to the more prominent parts of the message.
No he didn't! He Killed a 14 year old that has been through stuff in her life that has led her to be a Street Walker, which in the UK is an old term for Prostitute. She was probably dressed in such a way the Screech presumed she was an older Woman.
Something I just realized is that the silence goes all the way back to Violet's mother, too, since she knew what Violet's dad was doing, but never said anything. AAAAAAAAAA.
Along the same line where do you think Screech got his explosive temper? Ive heard it specukated that Violets dad or Stevie were most likely Jenny and Sreechs dad..... and those 2 might as well be the same person based on "history repeats itself"
Loved your remarks on genetics, but I believe it's the combination of Nature & Nurture that Ren is commenting on and how society turns a blind eye to violence and the less fortunate, This is shown in the way Ren ends both Jenny and Screech's tale with "It's such a shame". We in today's society brush these stories off with that very same statement and just move on with our lives without a second thought. Cheers and I look forward to your next Ren Hole dive 🤣🤣❤
Ren says he sees patterns and shapes on the fret board. That is how he learned to play as well as watching Hendricks music video's and slowing it down and practiced till he had it down, obviously by sound at first.

One thing most people miss is the fact that the system ment to help kids is so broken that this keeps happening generation after generation, the system is actually the biggest problem here because if kids get a good upbringing the genetics doesn't matter as much because they would learn right from wrong and how to manage their emotions and impulses during childhood, also, they wouldn't be working the streets trying to survive.
It's all about family. Stable loving families, produce stable loving people. And father's are at the centre of that. Your father seems like the sort of father everyone needs. Mother's are almost always a good influence, and equally important.
There's a big theory that makes horrific sense. That Violet's own father was the biological father of the twins. That's how she could get a welfare schemed council flat at 16 years old. It also explains why Stevie calls her a liar and a slut. She was pregnant when she met him. Ren's details are never without reason. Jenny was a 14 year old prostitute, Screech was a street kid raised violence and theft. Patrick and Screech's gf were hooking up behind Screech's back which is why they were "busy" when Screech was spinning out. Then when he couldn't find safety, he spun to anger and lashing out and eventually suicide by cop. Ren is remarkable and Sam, the cameraman together i think they should absolutely do a show. Maybe not Netflix, they're flaky with the cancelations. But if watch anything they did! ❤
Sam the singer and Sam the videographer are two different people. I feel the unresponsiveness/submissiveness of Jenny and Violet and the violence of Screech are more learnt behaviors to cope with the environments in which they grew up (we don't know about Stevie's past) than genetic.
there's still the bit about violet going from father to stevie, and again jenny following her footsteps with the S abuse, not a whole lotta 14 year old girls wear high heels late at night on familiar streets. Another is Stevie's and Screech's panic moments after the fact. I'm not saying you're incorrect on nature vs nurture, but the sheer number of "coincidences" with out a doubt point towards a more intentional suggestion. I've gotta go with her on this one.
It is not unknown for the abused to go from one abusive relationship to another, I don't think there is a gene for partner selection. Violet and Jenny's cases are different, Violet's was sexual abuse, although not specified, at the hands of her father and physical abuse, may be as a precursor to sexual abuse, at the hands of Stevie, more likely 14 year old Jenny in high heeled shoes walking alone late at night, was a sex worker possibly as result of her time in car, it's not unknown. Screech's reaction was a normal physiological one probably exacerbated by adrenaline following the murder and the drugs still in his system from earlier, Stevie's was not panic more a realisation of the consequences of his actions. The apparent coincidences of the agreed superficially similar outcomes but are from different causes.@@twistedpixel756
A bit late to the party but doing some Ren reaction catch up! Steve you are precious the way you look at Rose for her reaction when it gets to a good bit (I know it’s all good!) 😅 Steve you make me miss my Dad so much he would have really appreciated what Rens doing musically, artistically and as a big FU to the record industry! Ren has instigated that Patrick and Screech’s girlfriend were unavailable when Screech needed them as they were carrying on together. Jenny, being 14 years old and walking the streets with high heeled shoes instigates that she was working the streets too. Ren released a series of instagram shorts showing the tale of Screech’s background, and having an abusive stepfather, and getting into crime to avoid having to go home. I think there is a collection of them somewhere on RUclips that explains a lot of screech’s background.
Love Ren. His one take video are amazing. Sam Perry-Falvey is a great cinematographer and makes the tracks look great. The storytelling is amazing and powerful. It is a sad tale with no winners emphasising the cycle of violence that happens when youth is not supported correctly
Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues
It was Money Game that took 186 takes. Good reaction. Ren has lots of styles. To add another layer, think about it from the point of addiction and how just "I just need a little bc it's been a bad day" turns into " it's a good day but I'm gonna use just in case thr dsy goes sideways" and the chalk outlines is def feeling dead inside but also if you keep using and using, you could end up dead, in a chalk outline. Also, "erase ourselves in these chalk outlines" could be yet another (so what... triple now?) auntandra using to erase the feelings within until you eventually legit erase/end yourself in the outlines. existsnce
It´s a lot to take in at the first listening, so a little time to reflect must be allowed. And thanks for letting each of these songs play out without pausing. Good reaction! On a side note: The only thing I hate about this trilogy (though I think I understand the purpose) is the camera zooming in on Ren tapping & hammering the fretboard in one part of the intro to Violet´s Tale". Because it makes people focus with their eyes, not so much with their ears. Because to me it´s not so much "Look what his fingers can do", it´s more like "Listen how he makes it sound". And I say this being a picker myself. Cheers
Hi Guys! Rose, you look sooo much like your dad. I look exactly like my dad, who's name is also, Steve. Your reactions were so fun. And your thoughts at the end were spot on! I make the same face you do when Ren puts the stank on the guitar. I just subbed. 😊❤
Also about genetics; Jenny sort of did die th way violet did because violet was killed for being silent, a trait that Jenny picked up. When confronted by screech she froze like a statue and didn't say a word.
I thought so much went over your head because of the lack of pauses/ explication. The edit at the end made me realize that you did get it. I’ve watched so many reactions to this and it is rare that someone surmises that Jenny worked the streets. Totally agreed with your view on genetics and the family that didn’t exist. We’ll done! I subscribed.
ren read this in paper during a bad treatment was goin through w lyme disease, cop said as a kid did kill hooker w knife he said such a shame, then found killed the boy he said it's all just such a shame...too violet fyi her kids of incest from her dad why ran away got w 1st guy act as was his, fyi screech cant get friend patrick cos he having sex w screech's girl why she didnt want him there sadly he went scared n crazy now...FYI I'M ONLY IN HUNDRED+ REACTIONS TO SAY HEAR NOTICE CONNECT ALL THIS NOOOOO ONE COMMENTS N NEVER REACTORS GET NONE THIS SAD N ODD IT IS IN THE STORY
I love watching your Dad try so hard not to drop spoilers... he keeps looking .. Did she hear that?.. Does she get it? I understand because it's so hard not to overshare when you are "in the loop".
Ren has self identified his music as "Bardcore" and this was a three act Shakespearian Tragedy. The format is that of a bard telling a tale. A form of performance in music, acting and story telling that was the role of the wondering minstrel or bard; going right back through the great Bard Shakespeare himself and all the way back through Greek Theatre performances of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, the Indian Mahabharata and through to the Sumerians' Epic of Gilgamesh; and probably long before this, to some stone age man twanging on his bow to woo the Chief's daughter or to protest the Chief stealing the meat from his hunt as taxes...
Dont feel bad Rose. I thought the 2005 was the address of the hospital down in padington..... One big clue that it is a date is by him rewinding time on the guitar,
Good idea adding the analysis later. Immediate reactions are great to see, but it is impossible to get all the details of the background from one listen
The thing you glossed over is that generational trauma can be stopped with social intervention. But no one wants to pay for it or acknowledge that intervention could stop it. It’s just poor people doing poor people stuff.
It's worth bearing in mind, Violet left at home at 16 and got a council flat on a welfare scheme BEFORE she met Steve. It's unlikely in the UK to get a council flat at 16, unless you are pregnant. Which raises questions as to who was the father of Jenny and Screech? Was it Violet's Dad? Also the reason that Violet's mother was a silent drinker, is likely to be the same reason Violet chooses a partner who abuses her like her father. So Violet's mother was probably also abused by her own father, and then went on to pick a partner that treated her the same way, and turned to alcohol to numb the emotion.
OOOh thanks so much for sharing this interesting information! That definitely changes the interpretation of the story then FOR SHOOREEEE! While listening I did often think of the potential incest aspect but now knowing in UK you can't get that assistances unless you're pregnant? So in that case, this changes a lot of the analysis and makes it all the more tragic and "everyday life" unfortunately.
With all due respect (I watched to the end) I think your perspective will change a bit in time. Consider, if Jenny, or Screech. or Stevie and even Violet had bonded with (as a very small child or infant) and were raised by caregivers with patience, love, kindness, and support instead of being raised in violence and neglect; How much would genetics play a part in that in that scenario? I agree that genetics play SOME part. For me I believe a loving and kind and supportive environment IS MORE POWERFUL and can be very instrumental in overcoming obstacles of abandonment and abuse and neglect.
Thanks friend for your opinion, this is a reaction video for a reason. I hope your day is better and you can find something that brings you joy. I hope my "deer in headlights" moment brought you joy and commenting such did as well. Good luck in life friend. I do wish you the best.
Ahhh. The age old debate of nature verse nurture. Too much of one, not enough of the other. Not enough of both or too much of both. Either way genetics do play a role in who we are at our core. It's biology
Is it about genetics though? It may be but maybe it isn’t - isn’t potentially about nurture. Jenny reflects her mum but is it because of genetics or because that’s how girls are expected to be by society be quiet and be smaller than you are to protect yourself Likewise is Screech and Stevie similar in that they show emotion through violence and aggression- as that’s the only emotion a lot of boys are able to show. The cycle of violence needs to be broken by someone or the system to get the right support and care in order To heal.
I find this uncomfortable to watch which I guess is how I should feel. In addition to his musicianship, Ren's acting is amazing, disturbingly convincing! Rather than just genetics (which may play a part), I think people like these are more likely to be the products/victims of abuse going back over several generations. It's a tragic repeating cycle often played out in poverty/deprivation.
intersting thought from me , in the begining jenny felt something in the air thats a twins thing , i also think jenny was a prostitute as she walked the streets a 1000 times before . my other thought richard shook up carries on the circle of fate ? . just a thought :)
Yes, Stevie is Jenny and Screech (aka James) father. However, I didn't even think about those questions regarding Patrick! Hmmmm maybe they were together but regardless of that potential possibility, Screech still made the choices he made which ultimately ended his life.
Not sure about that, she left home at 16 and was able to get a council flat. Could have been pregnant already (father)? Also she was a prostitute. Ren read in the paper about a 14 yr old P being murdered in London. He was moved by the story hence where he came up with the idea.
Or was Jenny and Screech's father Violet's father? Moved out at 16 payed for by a welfare scheme... was it her choice to move out? Peace, good reaction, thanks and looking forward to more Ren reactions !✌🇨🇦
Sure. Genetics plays a role. But genetics didn’t beat Violet. This is about how the circumstances we are born into & society’s inability to change them or cope with the results can lead to a never ending cycle. It’s also about something deeper - imagine if James had known Jenny was his sister. Would he have killed her? It’s also then a story about how differently we often treat strangers (albeit not so violently) or people from another group, thinking they are not “us” when in fact, we are all brothers & sisters. Peace. ✌🏻
That's not genetics, that's environmental. It's the age old question of nature vs nurture. Yes, generational trauma plays a significant part here but the trauma is not hardwired into our DNA. This is what generational poverty, abuse, neglect and a broken system breeds.

9:50 wrong Sam. Sam Perry-Falvey is the cinematographer on these videos. He doesn't sing. Sam Tompkins is a different person.
It was Money Game 1 that took 183 takes. I only know this because I saw Joe E Sparks interview with Sam, the director, yesterday.
I like how her dad is so hyper focused and into the videos that he sometimes just stops or forgets to blink. 😂❤
Hahah thats likely his ADHD

DiscoDoc sent me here. You are featured on Rising Tidesday! Subbed 🇬🇧
The way he talks about the devil coming to dance and that hiss reminds me of Hi Ren when the dark side emerges.
His Music is Called BARDCORE in Britain because of his use of Language is like Shakespeare.
Your cat in the background is hilarious 😂
It was Money Game that took 186 takes.
Good reaction.

Also, "erase ourselves in these chalk outlines" could be yet another (so what... triple now?) auntandra using to erase the feelings within until you eventually legit erase/end yourself in the outlines. existsnce
Even the grandma knew but she also stayed silent but with drink 😎❤️💛💚🖤✊🏿🇯🇲
Thanks for adding your after thoughts
It takes a few listens I think to really appreciate the writing
The cat: To whom is the human talking???
It´s a lot to take in at the first listening, so a little time to reflect must be allowed. And thanks for letting each of these songs play out without pausing. Good reaction!
On a side note: The only thing I hate about this trilogy (though I think I understand the purpose) is the camera zooming in on Ren tapping & hammering the fretboard in one part of the intro to Violet´s Tale". Because it makes people focus with their eyes, not so much with their ears. Because to me it´s not so much "Look what his fingers can do", it´s more like "Listen how he makes it sound". And I say this being a picker myself. Cheers
Yo the cat behind you at the end is just epic... Haha that cat don't give af
Hahaha just like Jenny & Screech she from the streets!
When confronted by screech she froze like a statue and didn't say a word.
show me... a city where this kind of things hasn't happened and I'll show you... the kingdom of heaven...💮✝✡✡🕎🪯☪☯☸
Great reaction thank you 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
ren read this in paper during a bad treatment was goin through w lyme disease, cop said as a kid did kill hooker w knife he said such a shame, then found killed the boy he said it's all just such a shame...too violet fyi her kids of incest from her dad why ran away got w 1st guy act as was his, fyi screech cant get friend patrick cos he having sex w screech's girl why she didnt want him there sadly he went scared n crazy now...FYI I'M ONLY IN HUNDRED+ REACTIONS TO SAY HEAR NOTICE CONNECT ALL THIS NOOOOO ONE COMMENTS N NEVER REACTORS GET NONE THIS SAD N ODD IT IS IN THE STORY
The Cat…😂😂 he’s taking it all in.
He/She 😅
I think i heard ren say tht he went to a musical college in bathe. Then he moved to Brighton
the jenny and screech parts are based on youths since mid 2000s knife crime has been on the rise especially in london and england
Great reaction. Your cat's giving you full on stink eye lol
LMAOO she is VERY attitudinal 🤣🤣
Awesome to see your dad lipsinking hahaha
Very insightful reaction, and the humans one was good too.
Hi, Doc sent me!
Dont feel bad Rose. I thought the 2005 was the address of the hospital down in padington..... One big clue that it is a date is by him rewinding time on the guitar,
Good idea adding the analysis later. Immediate reactions are great to see, but it is impossible to get all the details of the background from one listen
Check out the 360 version on your phone!!!
The thing you glossed over is that generational trauma can be stopped with social intervention. But no one wants to pay for it or acknowledge that intervention could stop it. It’s just poor people doing poor people stuff.
Disco Doc küldött, nagyon jó reakció, feliratkoztam.
Rose, you're a deer in headlights when it comes to plot twist.
Thanks friend for your opinion, this is a reaction video for a reason. I hope your day is better and you can find something that brings you joy. I hope my "deer in headlights" moment brought you joy and commenting such did as well. Good luck in life friend. I do wish you the best.
Money Game 1 was the one that took 180 takes. Genesis took multiple shots but not that many.
It's not genetics its culture and where we grow up
Ahhh. The age old debate of nature verse nurture. Too much of one, not enough of the other. Not enough of both or too much of both. Either way genetics do play a role in who we are at our core. It's biology
Will there be tears! I'm not sure?????😢😮😮😮😮
No tears here but tears for others coming soon!
Is it about genetics though?
It may be but maybe it isn’t - isn’t potentially about nurture.
Jenny reflects her mum but is it because of genetics or because that’s how girls are expected to be by society be quiet and be smaller than you are to protect yourself
Likewise is Screech and Stevie similar in that they show emotion through violence and aggression- as that’s the only emotion a lot of boys are able to show.
The cycle of violence needs to be broken by someone or the system to get the right support and care in order To heal.
You might be right that sam tompkins videoed this but there is another sam....sam flavey maybe? that films a bunch of ren's videos.
Did Stevie get Violet pregnant? Why did he call her a liar? Where was Patrick? Why was Screech’s girlfriend “busy”? Were Patrick and her together? 🤔
👅- thanks. I’ve watched this a few times, but now I’ll never *NOT* notice that graffiti. 🙂👅🙃
Haha! It's all in the details 🤪
Peace. ✌🏻
The cycle of violence
Sam the singer is a completely different Sam the videographer.
Its not Sam Tompkins that films the videos its another Sam
That's not genetics, that's environmental. It's the age old question of nature vs nurture. Yes, generational trauma plays a significant part here but the trauma is not hardwired into our DNA. This is what generational poverty, abuse, neglect and a broken system breeds.
Well I would say it was more of economics or class status, than genetics.
😮
