Yeah I was surprised to hear about World Without Love too. These guys had hit songs falling out of their pockets and had to give some away....ha ha ha. Thanks for the kind words. Peace
f you ever leave me, I'll be sad and blue Don't you ever leave me, I'm so in love with you The birds in the sky would be sad and lonely, If they knew that I lost my one and only, They'd be sad if you're bad to me The leaves on the trees would be softly sighin If they heard from the breeze that you left me crying, They'd be sad, don't be bad to me But I know you won't leave me 'cos you told me so, And I've no intention of letting you go, Just as long as you let me know, you won't be bad to me So the birds in the sky won't be sad and lonely, 'Cos they know I got my one and only They'd be glad that you're not bad to me But I know you won't leave me 'cos you told me so, And I've no intention of letting you go, Just as long as you let me know, you won't be bad to me So the birds in the sky won't be sad and lonely, "Cos they know I got my one and only They'd be glad that you're not bad to me, They'd be glad that you're not bad to me, to me, to me
Thank you for posting this. What a great old chord progression and beautiful melody! This should have been in the Hard Day's Night film! Who dropped the ball on that?
You sing well. Good technique/inflection of your voice. I always loved that tune. Been listening to Billy J.'s version a lot lately. Yes, I watched the chords.
Hey there my #1 fan nice to hear from you as always. Thanks for the message. Yeah I think that old Yammy is getting sweeter and sweeter as time goes by. Got a new guitar about a year and a half ago but I keep playing my old guitar. How's everything with you V? Cheers
@jpm2u - 5/17/2018 You have only 1 augmented chord in your arrangement. It sounds to me that there should be a few more of those "odd-ball chords" or Beatle chords, as I call them. Might you be missing 1 or 2 of those?
Great song but man oh man do I love the addition of the 3-step descending progression on the Billy Kramer version that isn’t in the Beatles’ original demo. The part at 0:59-1:02 on Kramer’s track (“you won’t be bad to me”). That’s my favorite part of the whole song. Oh well. Your voice is excellent by the way.
... nothing wrong with your voice man. You sing great. Tried this from memory last nite, ... first thought it was in E, but learned it in C, as it suited my voice. Now I'll get it right. Thanks
Thanks, great explanation, you've really helped me with my ear training. I thought there was an Augmented chord in there, and you showed the right way to play the song!
Another great video, Joe. As always, you are spot on with the chords. You are getting a really nice tone from your guitar (and your singing sounds good as well)! Thanks for taking the time to bring us accurate lessons of Beatle classics.
Just in terms of how early this was, it's a demonstration of McCartney knowing his way around interesting and atmospheric chords. I've known about the song for years but I haven't sat down to actually play along with it until now and it's proof of genius. He knocked this out with a whole lifetime of hits thereafter.
Very nice work, Joe, as is usual from your tutorials. This song is another example of a Beatles tune that requires some magic in the right hand or strumming action, doesn't it? Whether the Beatles rough cut or Billy J. Kramer's hit with the song, they both have some syncopated or staccato kind of strums to give it the right feel. Guitar work in Beatles songbook is not always so easy.
I love the chords in this song. Nice playing Joe. With any other band, this would be a gem but, of course the Beatles had so many good songs with great arrangements.
Thank you so much for this lesson. Beautiful song that i recently discovered although written a long time ago. But the verses and chords make it all come together easily and thanks for the way you show how the chords are made.
I had no idea this was a Beatles song originally. I didn't know "World Without Love" (Peter & Gordon recorded it) was theirs either until a few years ago. Excellent lesson!
Hy guy! In John's Demo and I think in Billy Jay's Original, there is a descending little lick that is played that's sorta: E G#m/D# C#m B7. (John may be playing an out-of-tune guitar because most of the Boots are kinda in Eb. But I found one that was speed up to E). In the Billy J version the Key and Progression are in the Key of D.
Beautifully done. And the Beatles should have recorded and released this a single. One of the best Beatles non-singles ever.
Actually, your voice sounds pretty good to me! thanks for the video lesson

f you ever leave me, I'll be sad and blue
Don't you ever leave me, I'm so in love with you
The birds in the sky would be sad and lonely,
If they knew that I lost my one and only,
They'd be sad if you're bad to me
The leaves on the trees would be softly sighin
If they heard from the breeze that you left me crying,
They'd be sad, don't be bad to me
But I know you won't leave me 'cos you told me so,
And I've no intention of letting you go,
Just as long as you let me know, you won't be bad to me
So the birds in the sky won't be sad and lonely,
'Cos they know I got my one and only
They'd be glad that you're not bad to me
But I know you won't leave me 'cos you told me so,
And I've no intention of letting you go,
Just as long as you let me know, you won't be bad to me
So the birds in the sky won't be sad and lonely,
"Cos they know I got my one and only
They'd be glad that you're not bad to me,
They'd be glad that you're not bad to me, to me, to me
thanks for the lyrics, rock on.
Joe, u are a fantastic teacher. I want to learn them all before I kick the bucket.
Thank you for posting this. What a great old chord progression and beautiful melody! This should have been in the Hard Day's Night film! Who dropped the ball on that?
Tom K Yeah it is a nice little song. Thanks for the comment. Cheers
John, he’s the one who gave it to Billy J. Kramer. I will never understand why though.
You sing well. Good technique/inflection of your voice. I always loved that tune. Been listening to Billy J.'s version a lot lately. Yes, I watched the chords.

Very nice voice. Authentic. Not at all self-conscious. An excellent tribute to the late great Johnny L.
Glad you liked the lesson (and the singing). Thanks friend.

I know exactly what you mean, I prefer that version as well..
One of the best unreleased Beatles songs. Beautiful melody from John. Would've sounded fantastic on With the Beatles.

Thanks
I'm sorry, I don't have a page where you can see the chords. I'll try to put them up on the comments when I have time. Cheers and thanks.

in the part at 1:31 "you won't be bad to me". Are you sure you got the chords right?
Yeah some good early song writing by J and P. I like this song quite a bit too. Thanks and nice to hear from you. How are things?
Thanks, great explanation, you've really helped me with my ear training. I thought there was an Augmented chord in there, and you showed the right way to play the song!
zingozongo Glad I could help. thanks for the comments. Peace
Your run down to the verses after the intro is totally wrong ,,the starting riff is higher csharp to b then a flat to fsharp

Hey Joe, like the name. Thanks for the kind words and Merry Christmas to you too, friend. Peace!

You're a hero without cape :)
Joe! "Hold me tight", please!!!!!
Would like to learn the solo..
I loved it ,you're great!
Lennon was a genius. Beautiful in its simplicity.
It was not simple....
The song itself seems simple when you listen to it, but is actually quite complex, lots of cool chord changes.
This was amazing!!! Thank you!!! Can you do a lesson on Till there was you?
Thanks for the kind words. Till there was you is my next video. Cheers
