I have made so much progress just playing the Beatles songs. I love their early rock and roll stuff, seems like easy chords yet so hard to get it right and you nail all the parts. John really did drive the sound, and I believe he credited Ringo for the timing. Just great stuff, keep them coming Mike!

      Louie Testa - Thank YOU for realizing the time and work it takes to do one of these videos. I'm always miffed when I get a note from somebody whining about a free lesson e.g. "why don't you teach the bass also" or "play everything much much slower so a total beginner can learn also" (I do make the charts and tabs available). It takes me LITERALLY the better part of an entire week to research, decipher, learn, memorize, write out charts and tabs, videotape, audio record, edit (audio & video), insert diagrams (I create in PhotoShop), bounce to video and then upload (the upload process alone takes 5-6 hours) just to complete one video lesson. So when I get a note from somebody like you (who was also kind enuff to subscribe like I ask) it truly gladdens me. Thanks again!

    • @MPfrance
      @MPfrance  3 года назад +1

      Sam Cortese - That's not the 1st time I've been asked that question. I'm always surprised that it's not commonly known that becoming a "rock/pop star" is probably less likely than winning the lottery. There's always millions of musicians trying to gain fame and fortune and those that do - are simply lucky. It's really not based on talent. It's based on luck. They should teach THAT in music schools. And If you look at the myriad of mediocre musicians that are famous - that proves my "not based on talent" point.
      On the other hand - I was never THAT fond of traveling extensively. I'm a home-body. I have been on many tours - but the one time I was on tour for a year and a half - I ended up hating it. So I never really pursued stardom. I've had three different record contracts and also found them to be exhausting. I learned first hand how companies rip you off. If it was common knowledge about how little "rock/pop star(s)" actually earn - there'd be way less musicians chasing the golden ring and instead - they'd be satisfied with being a big fish in a small pond.

    I love the fact on the recorded version there is that bit of George's guitar which is still on the solo (which was still on the tape) it beefs it up

    Love it always a go to channel for my Beatles references and exact rhythm ans style. Me and my dad use it all the time now to get the songs down to the last note :) the “and I love her” was a masterpiece video and it’s just getting better and better:) keep it up

    Excellent job, as always. When this came out in 1964 I noticed a slight difference between this song and all the other Beatle songs but had no idea why. Still, I could tell something was different. Then, years later learned this song was recorded in France. Ah ha! Not exactly the same sound as Abbey Road Studio. Still can't explain the difference, but it's there. Different echo maybe.

    You are my hero Mike! I love your simple explanations and your incredible attention to detail. Please keep ‘em coming! Side bar, where in France are you based? I stayed in Juan-Les-Pins for some time years ago. Played guitar for a summer. Loved it.

    Growing up, I wasn’t really a Beatles fan at all… I thought the recording sounds of the ‘60s rock were hard to listen to, except Elvis. Then, after some time, I grew to love solo Paul McCartney and Wings. Got into The Beatles about a year ago and saw Paul McCartney last week in Boston… might be the best show I’ve ever seen!
