I know the focus is on George with this song but it still baffles me how four young men in the space of what 8 years (62 - 70) went from knowing a handful of chords each to the accomplished musicians and songwriters we know. Astonishing advancement.
Combination of them really paying attention to patterns that exist in well-written songs that came before them (American songbook and old standards), and their experimentation with cannabis and LSD taught them to think out of the box and add new ideas. The countless songs they learned before they started writing their own gave them a mental database of composition techniques that stand the test of time
Beatlemania is alive & well at Mikes studio! These lessons are beyond great, you are not only the greatest instructor, you love the Beatles still, like we all do... Many Thanks.
It's funny to first watch 10 other "teachers" showing you how to play this song then watch THIS! THE REAL LESSON! I feel like a guy stranded on a desert island watching a ship approaching!
Mike, I love your lessons because they are a mix of music history and great in depth song walkthroughs. You are the go to guy for anything Beatles. Thank you so much for these.
This has always been one of my favourite Beatles songs, definitely one of George’s best contributions to the band and there’s a reason people say it’s one of the greatest love songs of all time. Great lesson as always, Mike
I really think that Mike is the best teacher on the Internet. I really appreciate all you do and all your work Mike. I have learned so much from you. God bless you kind sir!
Back in the day most bands never attempted Something because of all the naughty chords. We played it every night, patrons loved it. Figuring the damn thing out was a bitch but we got it close. It looks like it's still fighting back. Thank you!
F****** brilliant! You just can't do it better than Pachelli! We all know what a phenomenal song "Something" truly is, and seeing it broken down in such a respectful and highly detailed way is a privilege. This is my 2nd fave lesson/sound alike, after the grandiose and awesome "I Am The Walrus" clip (my all time fave Beatles track) Rock on, Mike. We're all very lucky to have you. Marc ✨
Thank you Mike! I've always thought George was a great and creative musician, unfortunately underrated by most Beatles fans. However, I like to think that his three mates were aware of the valuable contribution he used to give to all of their composition.
The master of the six strings needed two weeks to show us how the Beatles did it nearly 60 years before. Their music will stay eternally. Great job, Mike, thank you.
mike, i'm just an intermediate player but just strumming and hearing the chords has such an emotional feeling in the gut and heart. thnx for the help with this song and all the beatle song lessons.
#1 Beatles song in my book! With Preston and Martin adding their flavor to the production also. I always thought that is was John on the piano with the descending chords. Thanks again Mike for a great lesson!
This has got to be one of your best Beatles videos yet, Mike. Your explanation of the nuances and your demonstration of how to play them were outstanding. Thank you for putting forth the effort to make the "sound alike" portion of the video. It sounded great.
Wow. Simply Amazing Mike. I Swear YOU Were There In The Recording Studio With Paul, John, George And Ringo. You Took Me All The Way Back To When I Was 9 Years Old. Thank You Mike Pachelli For Everything You Know, Everything You Do, Your Astute Attention To Detail And Perfectionistic Way Of Playing. Comparable To Absolutely NO ONE. YOU'RE THEE BEST SIR MIKE. 🥁🎶🎹🎶🎸🎵🎻🎶🎤 👍😎
Holy CRAP you nailed that solo demo (before you discussed it) fricken dead on! Both your working knowledge and abstract knowledge of what they played and how is unrivaled.
I'm big into Metallica and other Metal bands, but i'm going to be fully honest, writing this kind of music is much more difficult than you'd think. Keep it coming Mike! Blessings from the USA
That was terrific Mike, really over the top! Arguably, one of the greatest love songs ever written and recorded. Thank you for taking the time to brake down all of these classic Beatles songs! Hope that things are going good for you in France. Be well..... 👍👍
As a lyrical contribution, I always favored John's now immortal "attracts me like a cauliflower", but of course it didn't make the final cut...lol. Great job as always on a very tough to teach track!
Thank You Mike! I learned historic information and it was Fun! Another home run. But I would have loved for you to dive into the Bass line. Perhaps you can do a bass line exclusive for this song on another video. Bravo!!! 🎸
Great video and back story. Thankfully the Beatles never broke up during the Let it Be sessions and they went on to give us their swan song album Abbey Road which is my favourite all time album. It was always a struggle for George to get his songs recognised and recorded with the Beatles, I always liked all of his songs, but his two song contributions ‘Something’ and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ along with his guitar playing, on Abbey Road were on another level, and he could deservedly walk away from the Beatles with his head held high as a great song writer.
Such a clear explanation and demonstration of this song, but especially the solo. The sound you create is beautiful. And your bends are very nicely in tune, And congratulations on your "all-in-one" version where you play the guitar parts and the drums, as well as sing the vocal harmonies.
I know I am late commenting on this but besides being an absolute genius of a song it is so unusual and unique! It has mesmerized me since I first heard it when Abbey Road came out. I mean the progression the way ,that riff starts it off and links it together and of course the solo…almost totally unique to my ears! I mean can you think of another song similar to this musically? The only other instrument I think that may play a solo like this is maybe a muted Trumpet…I mean most guitarists would never start where he starts in that solo or those notes …most would play the blues! Even the rhythm guitar is odd and wonderful with those voiceings . Thanks great job!
My old guitar teacher and friend (god rest his soul) always told me Harrison was great guitarist, but didn't come into his own until he figured out inversions and started using them to stay away from John's space on the fretboard. But we did notice while watching the Peter Jackson "Let It Be" that George was using a capo while showing the band the song asking about lyric ideas. My friend handed me his beer picked up his guitar and capo, thought for a long second and started playing. He said to me "well that makes sense sonically. We'll work on that next week." The album mix of this classic is so rich and layered I can't pick out those parts. Always wondered if Harrison was just experimenting. As anyone I've seen play the song plays it the way you are teaching it.
You are truly a one man band and a great one at that, Ive heard Elvis and Frank Sinatra do this but they just sang YOU did it all, you are amazing Mike, amazing lesson as always...
Your choice of song material, the precision of your deconstruction of what they all contributed, and of course the history and lore, and ultimately your own performance, is all extraordinary. Many, many thanks for all the fine content, education, and technique, and insights. Here's a recommendation for a simple, but not so simple, Beatles song that some of us love and view as a buried treasure, kind of like Hey Bulldog. Song I'm referring to is Dr. Robert off Revolver. Just an incredible track that never gets old...and reading up about it, can understand why. Their arrangement, song key, chord progression changes, the multiple vocal and guitar tracks, all make for an incredibly interesting song that accentuates Lennon at his best, McCartney at his best, and Harrison as well. Please, do consider making it the subject of in depth examination. Cheers and all the best from the Heartland of the good old USA.
Big Mike! I've always wanted to learn how to play this one, and Come Together! I knew it wasn't easy! Lucky for an eternal learner like me, now to find a class 10 like yours! Thank you again!
What a lot of work you have put into this video Mike. If nothing more it shows how sophisticated George had become as a songwriter and instrumentalist. Thanks so much.
Hi Mike again my only Mike pacheli. You surprize the world with the only worthy rendition or should call it fair representation of a true masterpeice. My little metrometer R-Inga sats hello to your little Rin-go. Thanks again - keep it coming. Best Regards from Sweden 🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️
I wondered about the James Taylor 'Something', because of course James recorded his first successful album with 'Apple' so George would have had a close up view of it! Thanks for the music Mike
Mike, It's always a pleasure and tres tres informative. I have always planned to record my version and you have saved me hours of work learning the intricacies. As they say in your new adopted land Merci encore.
What a Coincidence! I spent several days the week ago recording just this, also all the instruments by myself! From listen the original version, play guitars, and specially bass and drums I went completely nuts and felt in love finally and totally this time, to this "Harrisong" and Beatles´Jewell! But far of the precision you have explained here as usual about how to play guitars: Thanks a Lot, Mike! Maybe I can improve the mess mixing I got finally, or patiently redo it totally... Hugs from Buenos Aires!
For the all the time, love, and care you put into all of your videos, i feel like i would be a jerk if i DIDN’T leave a comment to say THANK YOU for this incredible resource.
Thanks for a terrific lesson Mike! I just started working on Something a couple of days ago, so the timing is perfect. If you’re looking for ideas for songs to do, here are three of my favorites that don’t have many good lessons done on RUclips: I’ve Got a Feeling I Need You Two of Us Cheers!
Sure did enjoy. You have a lot of cool toys! This song was a masterpiece and you taught and covered it right. I saw McCartney last week in Boston. He did the Concert-for- George version of Something which is also an inspiring version.
Thank you, Mike...awesome tutorial! I have been playing this song for at least 30 years, but I just incorporated some of this lesson from you into my own version of this song. I didn't realize it, but now it sounds way better, I might not always watch Beatles song tutorials on youtube...but, when I do, I go to Mike Pachelli's channel first. :)
For years, I’ve always heard towards the end of the song a gentle nod to “Cry For a Shadow” in the way George strums the chords. I believe Cry and Something use similar chords. Anyway, thanks for another great lesson
I've been playing along with this since I got Abbey Road in late 1969 or early 70, not sure which exactly now. I think I got it for Christmas 1969. And while I have to say I was close this in general video showed several little ways that I was off. So thanks for clearing a lot up.
I know the focus is on George with this song but it still baffles me how four young men in the space of what 8 years (62 - 70) went from knowing a handful of chords each to the accomplished musicians and songwriters we know. Astonishing advancement.
Harrison was a good player next to Paul McCartney
It always surprises me too... Sometimes wonder how???
Combination of them really paying attention to patterns that exist in well-written songs that came before them (American songbook and old standards), and their experimentation with cannabis and LSD taught them to think out of the box and add new ideas. The countless songs they learned before they started writing their own gave them a mental database of composition techniques that stand the test of time
i always thought the same thing about the beatles and really any of the young bands and musicians of that era and all the great music they gave us.
I consider it a God send...A Miracle...
Beatlemania is alive & well at Mikes studio! These lessons are beyond great, you are not only the greatest instructor, you love the Beatles still, like we all do... Many Thanks.
I swear, this guy is going to teach us how to play the entire Beatles discography
It's funny to first watch 10 other "teachers" showing you how to play this song then watch THIS! THE REAL LESSON! I feel like a guy stranded on a desert island watching a ship approaching!
Your re-creation of the greatest band of all time's tunes is genius in itself! It's perfection!
Thank you, Mike Pachelli!!
Mike, I love your lessons because they are a mix of music history and great in depth song walkthroughs. You are the go to guy for anything Beatles. Thank you so much for these.
Glad you like them!
This has always been one of my favourite Beatles songs, definitely one of George’s best contributions to the band and there’s a reason people say it’s one of the greatest love songs of all time. Great lesson as always, Mike
Mike -- I keep coming back to your lessons. Modern classical music described lovingly by a master.
I really think that Mike is the best teacher on the Internet. I really appreciate all you do and all your work Mike. I have learned so much from you. God bless you kind sir!
Mike your attention to detail and history is incredible. This is one of the sound tracks to my life. Huge thanks from South Africa
Back in the day most bands never attempted Something because of all the naughty chords. We played it every night, patrons loved it. Figuring the damn thing out was a bitch but we got it close. It looks like it's still fighting back. Thank you!
Mike, you are truly incredible! Thank you for another brilliant lesson.
kjsiii - My pleasure!
Mike is the best. I have bought some of his tabs from his website. He explains everything in detail like no other.
dphotos - Thanks! I very much appreciate your support.
Fantastic music and instrument lesson. Congratulations teacher! You bring the phenomenon called Beatles to us, mere mortals from Brazil.
This was one of the most impressive creations you've done so far. George's last song deserved it.
F****** brilliant! You just can't do it better than Pachelli!
We all know what a phenomenal song "Something" truly is, and seeing it broken down in such a respectful and highly detailed way is a privilege.
This is my 2nd fave lesson/sound alike, after the grandiose and awesome "I Am The Walrus" clip (my all time fave Beatles track)
Rock on, Mike. We're all very lucky to have you.

✨
Your lessons are incomparable and hugely appreciated! What a feeling to be able to nail this solo.
It is beyond me how you work all this out but I am so happy you can, I love it and am in absolute awe. Thanks
Thank you Mike!
I've always thought George was a great and creative musician, unfortunately underrated by most Beatles fans.
However, I like to think that his three mates were aware of the valuable contribution he used to give to all of their composition.

Great song Maestro, once again, thank you for this classic George Harrison masterpiece 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You’re the man Mike! Wish i could come to France and jam some Beatles with you! Thanks from Southern Illinois!
Honestly, that’d be pretty fun
Come to Chicago we're gonna jam on Beatles songs.
@@antoniolee9288 are you in a band? That sounds like a good time
Oh, and I like how you put the Beatles songs together so faithfully. Played like a true Beatle fan.
mike, i'm just an intermediate player but just strumming and hearing the chords has such an emotional feeling in the gut and heart. thnx for the help with this song and all the beatle song lessons.
Fab like always, Thank You Mike! what a great song from George, one of the Beatles best
Brilliant-- your sound alike is really fabulous. It nicely showcases George's sublime solo on this one. About as good as it gets. Thanks, Mike.
#1 Beatles song in my book! With Preston and Martin adding their flavor to the production also. I always thought that is was John on the piano with the descending chords. Thanks again Mike for a great lesson!
Shit man. Wow. Unbelievable. I have never once seen someone do this solo like I hear it, and you are the first I've ever seen. Your unstoppable.
This has got to be one of your best Beatles videos yet, Mike. Your explanation of the nuances and your demonstration of how to play them were outstanding. Thank you for putting forth the effort to make the "sound alike" portion of the video. It sounded great.
You're most welcome!
Every aspect of this is incredible, including your vocals. It's really something!
Wow, thank you!
Just love the work you do on the research & to be able to reproduce the Beatles music … eternally grateful Mike 🎸🎶👍☮️❤️
Wow. Simply Amazing Mike.

👍😎
My favorite overall Beatles song of all from the band. Well done showing and telling the backstory of how it came to be.
Mike - great job as always. Your detailed knowledge is only one of the best things about your channel. Just love your vibe and teaching method.
I appreciate that!
Great lesson Mike.
“Live in Japan” has a beautiful intro Harrison added.
Holy CRAP you nailed that solo demo (before you discussed it) fricken dead on! Both your working knowledge and abstract knowledge of what they played and how is unrivaled.
Bravo! Magnifique! There are no words in English to describe how great that lesson was! Thank you, Mike.
Everything I love by Lennon and McCartney is kicked up a notch in this song by George. Incredible chord vocab and movement. 10/10
I'm big into Metallica and other Metal bands, but i'm going to be fully honest, writing this kind of music is much more difficult than you'd think.
Keep it coming Mike! Blessings from the USA

Igor - Glad to be of some service!
Perfect presentation of Something! Sir Mike Pachelli congratulations!
Mike you’re incredible! I love these! Your documenting history! Thank you so much, this HAD to take a poop load of time!
M Staples - thanks and yeah - many poop loads actually. Two entire weeks to get it done!
Thank You Mike! I learned historic information and it was Fun! Another home run. But I would have loved for you to dive into the Bass line. Perhaps you can do a bass line exclusive for this song on another video. Bravo!!! 🎸

@hardyho - WoW - high praise indeed. I'm humbled by your kind words.
Very nice, Mike. Great tuition and really respectful to the original track. How we miss those compositions today. 👍😎🇳🇿🎸

I wondered about the James Taylor 'Something', because of course James recorded his first successful album with 'Apple' so George would have had a close up view of it! Thanks for the music Mike
Great lesson/analysis Mike. I hadn't heard half of those parts before.
Really enjoy your beatles lessons. Informative and great instruction! Your covers are also top shelf.

Great stuff, truly an impressive performance...Can't wait for The Beatles "Long, long, long" Lesson. Please Mike, you"re my last hope...!
Mike, you do such a great job with these. Thanks!
That was incredible. Great Job.
Thank you, Mike...awesome tutorial! I have been playing this song for at least 30 years, but I just incorporated some of this lesson from you into my own version of this song. Rock on!
Nicely broken down and taught, as usual. Surprised you're this far into your Beatles lessons journey and only now tackling "Something."
Great job Mike, and excellent work on the vocals! Those high McCartney parts are tough!
Much appreciated!
19:07 You nailed the little odd note that to my ears can only be heard on the isolated track. Just about everyone misses it.
Mike!! You are so great!! Watch all your videos!
Thanks - Glad you like them!
For years, I’ve always heard towards the end of the song a gentle nod to “Cry For a Shadow” in the way George strums the chords. I believe Cry and Something use similar chords. Anyway, thanks for another great lesson
Very nicely done, as always! Schweet!!!!
I've been playing along with this since I got Abbey Road in late 1969 or early 70, not sure which exactly now. I think I got it for Christmas 1969. And while I have to say I was close this in general video showed several little ways that I was off. So thanks for clearing a lot up.
