- Motown 25 duet of Linda Ronstadt and Smokey Robinson performing his soul R&B hits Ooo Baby Baby and The Track Of My Tears before a live studio audience at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California on March 25, 1983. "Ooo Baby Baby" and "The Track Of My Tears" were written and recorded on Motown Records by Smokey Robinson by The Miracles in 1965. Two of the Miracles' most-covered tunes, Linda Ronstadt achieved Ooo Baby Baby's greatest commercial success when she covered it in 1978; then The Track Of My Tears on her 1976 album Prisoner In Disguise.

My parents took me to the Golden Bear in Huntington beach to see Linda Ronstadt when I was about 12-13.
Our table was up against the stage. Her bare feet were a foot away from me. I looked up and I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her voice was the most beautiful I had ever heard. I was in love.
I understand
An everyday woman with extraordinary talent, so grateful that she came at the right time.
I'm so glad up grew up listening to these two legends. Yes, I'm old now, but I will take my age and my memories over anything today.
Hey, glad to see someone loves the old music as I do. Listen to "Just keep it up" Dee Clark.
Two of the best!!!!
@@robinmcglasson8011 qgood
I couldn’t agree more!! Nothing like the great music we grew up listening to!! 👍👏👏
Amen to that! Same here.
When entertainers had talent and didn't need auto-tune. Smokey and Linda were awesome performers.
Blah blah blah. There are plenty of entertainers who do not need auto-tune, and lip-synching was rampant in television in the 50s and 60s.
my2cents2u - About what your opinion is worth. 2 cents.

Linda Ronstadt:
THE MOST talented, versatile, line crossing, ethos busting larger than life yet SO down to earth UNDERRATED & under recognized artists of ALL TIME!
She was just perfect here. She deferred to him, never losing sight of her own vocal connection to the song. Her top notes on “face” and “place” are mordant, & bell tone, in “Tracks of my tears”, & in Ooh Baby, Baby she and Smokey are both right there, in the zone! Two of the most talented artists IMHO. Just an amazing duet❤
Just absolutely marvelous!! Two amazing voices intertwined. Smokey with a voice as "smooth as silk" and Linda, "the absolute force of nature" with the greatest female voice EVER! LOVE THEM BOTH!
Couldn't agree more!
Me too. Wish I could have seen them live.
Linda gave me a smile and say "hi" from the backseat of a limo, at a gas station, back in about 1982. Ooo Baby Baby. Left me speechless
What a lucky boy!
No kiss so sad.
Lucky sob!!! Amazing story!
@@joereyna3992 😁😁😁
Lucky 🍀. !!
One word describes these two performers - "fantastic"
To me just a gift. A once in a lifetime treasure. Two of the greats from my era!
Love that sassy chemistry between them. Is there and genre Ronstadt can't excell at? Robinson, needs no words.
Brilliant!
Hello Roxanne i am Puerto Rican i had the joy to grow up in Philly and to be enriched with different ethnic groups American Indians , Jewish ,Polish , German ,Mexican , Black Americans , Irish ,we all got along so great but when you left the neighborhood things were different i got hooked on the motown sound then rock then jazz it was all so beautifull
@@josiancruz8093 Motown remains my "go-to" whenever I need a lift. I'm strictly a southwest person, grew up on Beach Boys, Beatles, Stones, then blues rock, Leon Russell, Delaney and Bonnie, Clapton, etc. Lived mostly off and on in southern California and Arizona, so Ronstadt has a special place in my heart as I saw her early in her career, maybe 1966ish with the Stone Ponies.
I was fortunate to see live almost all the major players in the late 60s and early 70s. Then work and life took over.
@@roxannehale1386 Helllo Roxanne yes i also ¹love the singers you mentioned i also love blues, reggae ,funk latin jazz ,salsa ,even todays urban music i am a real freak about music when i waa about 15 my friends got together and form a small band i always admired them for that i could not get money for a instrument but i always encouraged them to continue their dreams in music i am alwasy listening to music i kid myself about my loves passions and frustrations about all that i love but yet have not been able to achieve because of my lack of commitment perhaps and detemination , i am also a freak for art photagraphy and nature i live in Puerto Rico and its all so beautifull as i know every country has its beauty , take care
Nope she sang it all
@@barbaracampbell9907 sadly she lost her voice before rap, Betcha she could've pulled that off brilliantly also.
Smokey and Linda, two of my favorites for over 50 years. Fantastic talents!
Magic !...
Two icons paying respects to each other with courtesy ❤❤😊😊
BEST duet EVER, EVER !
The synergy is "wowing".
Look at their eyes & faces, you can't fake HAPPY !
Robinson & Ronstadt Voice Heaven! ❤️
I'm obsessed with Linda. Her smile, the way her lips move when she sings, the cute little dance she does while she's singing, the way she looks at Smokey when he sings...not to mention her glorious voice! This woman is perfection.
So underrated one of the all time greats and all time vocalist can sing it all.
Amen!
@@crzn5280 Underrated by who ? Both are highly gifted, respected performers. Linda is considered one of the greatest female vocalists of all time.
Of course they're not Underrated
@@davidmellish3295 Highly underrated. When Rolling stones don’t even have her listed in the top 100 vocalists of all times.
2 ICONIC voices. Kids today have no idea, no appreciation, have no idea what real music is, what real talent is.
God blessed our generation with golden voices and talent. Nothing and no one can replace Linda and Smokey - one of a kind.
Two of a kind?
@@TheWerequat they’re both one of a kind
@@kauimanera726 Thank the powers that be... :-)
Ella is always touted as the greatest female singer but, Linda can sing anything...from country, country rock, folk, soul, Spanish songs from her childhood, Cajun music, Gilbert & Sullivan, yes The Doyly Carte repertoire, and even Ella's gig, The Great American Songbook with Nelson Riddle....if she isn't the best all-round female vocalist, she might be in the top two !
Imagine being lucky enough to have been in that audience.
TALENT and no autotune
Smokey and Linda WOW!
What’s auto tune? Opps forgot
2 legends in one place singing classics
Love them both. Two classics
Gorgeous heartbreaking lungs on Linda. Here accompanying one of her favorite songwriters. Linda could blow the roof off but she simply slides with Smokey. She put a lot of coin in his account and had a crush on him.
What a pairing. Smoky Robinson and Linda Ronstadt. It just doesn't get much better than this! 😊👍👍
Linda ronstadt recorded smokey's songs the best out of anyone else, very strong natural talent
Cannot be still singing that song. You have got to move something, emotions tingling all over the body..... you have got to move!!! The tracks of my tears.
No one could belt out a song like Linda! God bless her!
Love her. So sad that her beautiful singing voice has been silenced. Going to listen to 'Desperado' right now.
Suzy Thompson Truly one of the all-time great belters and she knew how to tenderly pull that big voice back. Gorgeous voice, cool vibe, warm heart.
Love her the most !
and Smokey too :)
What a sad situation not to be able to sing anymore... Gosh what a great singer!
I love to see them together what a beautiful match adore them both
Oh, they sang so lovely together! Their little banter back and forth was so damn cute!
Not just the music but the performance was beautiful. Smokey, wow. Just soulful.
PERFECTION!!!! Smokey and Linda make me cry with intense joy. What talent!!! People like that should live forever! Think of the pleasure they brought to us all!!
Both Smokey, & Linda were at the top of Their Singing Careers, & It's Nice to see the two collaborate on Smokey's songs. Love Them Both, Forever...😊
One of my fav Smokey Duos! Miss you LINDA.
I grew up from the60s and 70s. This is awesome, simple , clean, and so precious, now this is real music. From the 60s and 70s music was untouched that is why it has remain so great. Smokey is great, Linda is great and beautiful.
What an absolutely beautiful woman with an equally beautiful voice and this awful disease took her angelic voice. I can't help but cry each time I see one of her older videos where she is healthy and vibrant. Makes me question if there is a God.
Two of the most gifted talents: Mr. Smokey Robinson & Ms. Linda Ronstadt. Put them together and is pure heaven. God Bless You Both! Talented, yet Humble beings.
A.M.E.N.
Yeah real music. The best!!
Sending you love, happiness, and joy on this auspicious day. Did you get to attend any concert of hers?
What a great duo! I’ve loved Linda since the first time I heard her sing! And Smokey - he’s the greatest!!
Miss Linda’s voice!!!
My man for over 50 years, I was in the 7 th grade when he first hit the radio. Been a fan since then. Seen him so many times, he’s awesome. Love Smokey.
What talent! this is what music is all about!
Alan you got it spot on.
When I sing karaoke to the public @ Little Tokyo in downtown L.A., I love singing YOUR SONGS the most. U inspire me. Thanks for loving your fans, all of us
love both their voices!
My late wife and I saw Smokey live in Las Vegas. It was a great show. Never got a chance to see Linda. One of my regrets.
Next time!
smokey robinson: the definition of smooth.
I love that duet with Smokey & Linda. The original solo Smokey and Miracles was my favorite. I use to
couple,
backward and forward skate on OOh la la. Love that song. It bring back cruising memories.
Why in the world did the musical director think backup singers were needed? You've got a band, Linda and Smokey singing face to face! That's all you need!
Two of the most incredible and accomplished singers of our generation... The Soundtrack of my youth..
🎼🖤
Wow. Linda is having such a good time harmonizing with Smokey!
Oh my Goodness, Linda you are so beautiful. Blessings. Thanks for your music and your legacy.
My stone heart melted when Linda appeared and sang...
This is super. Smokey Robinson and Linda Ronstadt are two of my favorites, but IMO she was at her best singing the standards on the What's New album with the Nelson Riddle orchestra.
Thank God for film!
Beautiful vocals for these 2 beautiful people ! 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Two masters of their craft there.
In their prime they knocked it out of the park!
Love it!
Linda Ronstadt is so charming in this performance.
Wow wow wow! So beautiful.
No one can sang a smoky Robinson song like smoky but linda wow oh mi dam she could flat out sang anything 🔥
in reality, I didn't know anything about her , until l I seen some few songs that I was just watching in you tube , and I discovered the she could sing in spanish too, she had won many Grammy awards, she has so much talent
I love to listen to the Motown 25 celebration with Smokey Robinson and Linda ronstadt together singing his songs it is the best duet ever! My mommy loved his voice and his look.
What an incredible collaboration of two of the greatest voices ever. They compliment each other so well and neither of them tries to outsing the other. Just beautiful.
This is an absolutely great duet by two of the finest ever.
Both are the best singers and performers ever. ❤
Linda...oh...baby...baby. have loved her since she started singing. She has created the Tracks of my Years.
Absolutely two of the best singers my generation has ever seen.
Yes, and so sad that she succumbed to insanity.
I would say this generation, Karen Carpenter was the best.
@@muffliquor1292 She succumbed to insanity?? WTF does that mean, she succumbed to Parkinson's.

The name Linda means beautiful in Spanish and this woman is beautiful inside and out!! Of course one of the most beautiful voices in music! Long live Smokey and Linda.
Oh wow! Sends shivers down my spine...ultimate talent that cannot be replicated. Thank-you Smokey Robinson and Linda Rondstadt for sharing you beautiful voices to the world.
A live performance from 40 years ago (I can remember watching it) - jaw-dropping harmonies that all artists should aspire to, instead of relying on autotune ...
Tracks of my Tears doesn't get any better than this, Holy!
So lovely. Linda could belt out a tune and blow the roof off the joint but she knew how to bring it down and harmonize. Like Smokey she was a real pure singer. Think she has admitted to having a lifetime crush on him.
Who wouldn't have a crush on him? He is a beautiful person ❤
I've had a life-long crush on Linda :)
He is a beautiful man. Oh, she is awesome. This is a gem.
@@satob7690 I am crazy about him.....really
That's true. She writes about her crush in her autobiography. Knowing that gives this duet a sweet edge.
Ooo...Baby,Baby. Smoky & Linda. Best song ever!!
Love Linda's version she sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Two of the greatest singers in the universe!
MEGATALENTS, GIANTS
After all these years I still get goose bumps everytime I hear them. Hope that feeling last forever.
Ohhh, this music is so sweet and beautiful, and Linda Ronstadt's voice sounded like an angel. Two legends. Blessings.
Smokey Robinson is a living legend 🙌 Amen praise God he's still with us
I've been a Ronstadt fan for a long while. I hope she has lots of moral support now. My husband had Parkinson's for several years & believe me, it was no picnic. I wondered if any of the chemicals he worked with & around had anything to do with it. He was a biological scientist. I hope more has been found out about this disease. There was no history of it in his family. Has it been shown to have any hereditary aspects his daughter or grandchildren should be aware of?😢
Smokey is a legend. Linda is the greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation....and the cutest ❤
Heaven to listen to Smoke and Linda sing his wonderful creations. This was from Motown 25, can you believe we just celebrated Motown 60!
They fit together so well.
One of my favorite songs of all time, "Ooo baby, baby". Smokey Robinson was a POET. His songs are some of the most beautiful ever written. I've listened to him since I was 14. First album I ever bought, "From the Beginning" wore out. All of his music is worth the investment. Linda Ronstadt is just the icing on the cake
So AWSOME. I love it!! Ooo. Baby baby! Linda’s version has been my favorite FOREVER
One of my favorite singers, Linda Ronstadt. I have all her “albums”! Wish her well........ 2019
One of America’s ( and Mexico’s) greatest singers. And the most beautiful ,
Ah...because it's Linda I'll excuse your faux paus..
Mary Alvarez She's not from Mexico! Only her grandma was Mexican.
thekingofmoney2000 .... Y que 😠
Such a talented, and lovely, gracious, woman. We need more of her.
There is NOTHING today that can compare to these great artists
Wow. Linda doesn’t need anything but that talent for the ages. But when she moves those eyes ...
Two top notch performers together like this is pure heaven.
Two generations. Two giants of their time.
Linda, you are gorgeous and fantastic! WOW! I've always loved your music. Thank you so much.
Increíblemente delicioso sonido
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Incredible. Two great performers!
Gorgeous. Linda, the finest of female vocalists. We miss her glorious voice - rockin or crooning.
I wish science would clone her. Such a talented beauty
I love Linda so much the prettiest voice ever!
She is my all time favorite singer
Yes,certainly.
Damn - there are not enough opportunities to give a thumb's up to such marvelous talent.
Linda had power and passion in her voice. Best singer of the 70's.
Always loved Smokey's music. First rate song writer and crooner. Saw him in the '80s at the Greek Theatre and was disappointed by the abbreviated songs and him forgetting many of his own lyrics. Linda can belt out any type or style of music and is second to none as a vocalist. No longer performing, she can proud of the fact that she entertained so many people for almost 50 years and has fans worldwide. Una mujer especial!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Creator and interpreter joining forces here and making pure magic. Nothing but mad respect for this performance.
No auto-tune here folks, just true talent.....remember true talent???
It's obviously linda is the STAR
She was phenomenal and is good in duets with some of the giant male vocalist
Smokey is as good as Linda. That is what makes them so special. Both of them on the stage together MAGIC!!
Spine tingling performance! Fantastic memories
Two greatest talents for the ages on the same stage together. Doesn't get any better than that!
My goodness the talent the devotion to the craft.
