Dude, I always loved the Ruger P95...nice and heavy...if you run out of bullets you can always use it to just beat the living shit outta someone...lol.
This and a Beretta 92fs are the best guns I ever owned and fired and I've had everything except a h&k...I had a sig p227 that was pretty nice as well.. something bout a hammer on the back of my pistol
This was my service pistol for many years. I still keep it by my nightstand. I love that unlike most safeties, the P95 completely disengages the trigger from the fire control group instead of locking it, so there is no chance for a failure to discharge the gun. The torture testing on this weapon has also been insane. The P series is AT LEAST as tough as the Glocks
My P95 was my first 9mm and I still have it today. I bought it because I loved the way it felt in my hand. In the years that I have had it, I have shot the pants off of guys with Glocks and Sigs. This is one sweet shooting firearm.
Heavy? Outdated? what are the people looking for? The price for this high capicity gun it is one of the best values out today ,,, I prefer it over a Glock due to the Ruger having great safetys and a hammer ... total plus! This is a great compact gun for a larger person!
I'm 6'6 about 230 240...I've carried 1911s Beretta 92 Taurus 92 Glocks 45 cal and 9mm fn SIG p226 XD Smith n Wesson 40 toted a g2c around the last few months... I jus came across one of these recently and didn let it pass I've been totin this mf around and I can't wait til da next shootout.. literally made me forget I had a 10.5" ar pistol from radical firearms that is probably the best gun I ever shot right above this and this is right up under the beretta 92fs i had...was the best gun i ever shot to date
True words spoken here..I'm an old vet..own two that can only be described as EXCELLENT condition wise..you cannot I repeat you cannot expect to find much to match up to Ruger P95 superiority...great for old men like me...
This was my first hand gun that I bought back in 2012 when I knew nothing about guns. I went to the gun store wanting to get the SR9 but at the time it was very difficult to find. The gun shop guy told me they have the Ruger P95 I held it for 10 seconds and I said Ill buy it lol. I do not regret it at all it shoots great. The trigger pull is actually very soft and I really enjoy shooting it.
The frame is made of a proprietary polymer developed for Ruger by Dow Chemical. Long strand fiber glass is used in the frame giving it exceptional strength and also gives the slide rails a very hard and durable surface for the to slide run on. I bought my P95 in 96 and has been an exceptional pistol. Fobus and Blackhawk make great holsters for it.
I love these things so much. The P-Series (particularly the 95) was the perfect all-purpose budget handgun and I hate that time has passed it by. I kinda wish Ruger had kept the P95 as a low-low-end product for people who just wanted a reliable no-frills pistol around the slightly-under-$300 mark. Thankfully these show up on the used market often for very cheap.
I just bought one of these used old beauties for $299 at a pawn shop. I had wanted one when they first came out, but never got one. Now I'm old, I finally got it.
It is now 2020 and this is my go to gun for home defense!! I own a s&w m&p shield, Mossberg 500, sig Sauer, but I love my Ruger I can put a 9mm round between someone's eyes at 30 yards!!
Buying one tomorrow, paying $340. Cant wait to take it out! Thanks for the great review! Lol exactly one year after you made the video. I must say this video did help me make my mind up.
Had three of them once and gave one to my father. Bought the first one in 1999. Also have a P-85 made in 1990 and a P-97 .45. The P-95's are great. You can still find them at pawn shops used for under $300.00-
My P95-PR is my daily carry with 26 Critical Defense and 15 Critical Duty, carried OWB with a Blackhawk Serpa Paddle Holster. My GF, our 2yr anniversary of going out, got her a P95-DC (no safety to remember except her trigger finger). She loves her P95, so do I, reliable and easy to shoot.
Loved your review so much that I picked up a P95 a couple hours ago. Got it for 200 bucks, a really good deal if you ask me. Keep up with your videos man!
2improper love the P95 so far. Besides a set of hogue grips what other accessories or modifications would you recommend me? I'm really ok with the sights so that's not something I'd like to improve for now. Thanks!
Cgiese80 You know; that's honestly one of the guns that I wouldn't think to modify. Maybe if XS made a big dot....other than that the thing seemed solid to me.
I've actually never heard anyone hate on it. Every single gun shop worker I've asked about this gun has only said great things about it. One guy said it was a reliable brick of a gun I personally like the weight. It really helps The recoil
You are so correct! I have an M&P, a stainless Beretta 92F and the Ruger P95. I carry the P95 most. Not sure why. Maybe because it takes me back 20 years to simpler times in my life. It's not outdated. It reliably throws 9mm bullets all day long. That's all I need.
Nice bid. Thanks. I just bought this gun yesterday at a LGS I went to on my lunch hour. Wasn't even looking to buy a gun but picked up this Ruger and fell in love. It was used so I gave it a good cleaning tonight and will take it to the range tomorrow.
Put 200 rounds down range with it Saturday of Winchester white box and it was flawless. Felt good. I wasn't Planning on Carrying this gun but I will find a good holster for it and have it as an option. Right now its cleaned and in the truck safe loaded with Hornady Critical D 135gr.. As I was leaving the range the attached Gun store I looked and they had a Ruger 85? it was all metal and in .45acp for $400. I may have to go back and pick it up.
I like it alot. I went back to the LGS I bought it from and got 2 used 15rd mags from a p89 for $40 a pair, and a new mag. They had just traded for another one of these over the weekend and had it in the case for $319. Looked to be in about as good a shape as mine.
I had the first generation P95 that just didn't hold up well! After 26.650 rounds thru it "Yes I document" the extractor broke. Other than that It went toe to toe with higher priced guns on many shooting courses I went thru. No status but a good reliable firearm that's made in the U.S.
One of the most underrated pistols ever. Had one, sold it, regretted it, found another, keeping it. P95DC, no safety, love it. Was hitting a spent propane tank at 100 yards, couldn't believe it. First grouping at 25 feet was a more or less vertical line with the holes almost and some were touching. Pleasant surprise as I don't consider myself that good. Ruger isn't making these anymore, so if you see one, better get it.
I have a P95 and P89, both blued. These beasts are TANKS! Even though I have several Glock and Smith polymer wonder-nines, I love these Rugers. I call them the Zombie guns, because no matter what you do to them, just put the ol' booger-hook on the bang switch, and they go BOOM....accurately! Now, despite their toughness, I don't neglect them. I keep em' clean and oiled...like all my other beasts.
I carry mine every day and it never jams, I've dropped it from my motorcycle at speed I've dropped it in the woods from an ATV and it still performs beautiful absolutely love it
+2improper With the exception of a couple of sharp edges and a couple of mold lines that needed tending to with a little 220 grit, and the magazine disconnect that had to go, I love it. Grip angle of the 1911, capacity of the Glock 17, with typical Ruger quality and reliability. Also, unlike the P series, the slide and frame is nice and thin. It doesn't bulge around the slide stop like the P95 and other P series pistols do. I was actually looking to buy another P95 when I bought the SR9. They didn't have any in stock and once I handled the SR9, had to have it.
Great detailed video for all the doubters out there!Very informative.Yeah it's not as light or slim as my Glock19 or Beretta 92fs INOX compact but I trust it w/my life several hundred rounds & ran flawlessly. Thanks for the video.I'd think twice about trading it but that's just me.
it is the first semi automatic I have owned and the best shooting gun I own the recoil is even better than all the other pistols because of the heavier slide ruger really hit a winner with the p series pistols
This was my very first handgun and I have the blued version everything you said about this gun is true it shoots great for its age im actually hunting to for a p90 the .40 caliber one im collecting all the 80s and 90s rugers actually this pistol is also one of my carry ons I switch between my G19 to P95 just so its not too boring
The P95 was my first gun. Bought it just a couple of years ago. President Obama convinced me I should have a hand gun. My experience has been that it shoots flawlessly. It's accurate and reliable. After cleaning it's a little tricky putting back together though. Other than that, if you are on a budget the P95 is a good choice.
Better "internals" than "entrails," just say'in... lol --- FWIW, I've owned my (gen 1) P95DC since I bought it new in 1996. I'm not a huge guy, and I have carried (and still do) this gun comfortably, IWB, using a leather Don Hume H715M, for all that time... When you utilize a quality holster, carrying concealed ain't all that hard... ☺ *Btw, that is an EXCELLENT tip about the XD holsters-- thanks!* I was just recently considering buying another 95 from a local pawn shop, but was wondering about that...
I bought a Ruger P89 about 4 months ago and it's a gem. I'm never selling it. No jam. I would recommend is it's the original magazine either put new springs in it or find some new one. That's all you need. Keep it clean and lube will last another 30 years
I have been carrying this bad boy every day for the last 4 years in that same exact Tagua Gunleather Holster!!! Best $300 I EVER spent. Little work horse that will eat anything you feed it, and always function without fail. I got the blued one, but I'm considering getting another and going with the stainless. LOVE this pistol! It's a little bulky for some people, but I CC outside the waistband in a slide holster and wear a button up over shirt with no issues. The frame polymer is INCREDIBLY durable, and from what I understand is proprietary to Ruger. made for this series of pistols. It breaks down into like 4 parts. Simple wins every time.
For sure! I think a lot of people dis on it because it's old looking and doesn't operate with the same ....errr....sophistication that todays pistols now have. But thats because they aren't putting that gun into the right perspective.
Absolutely! I'd put my P95 up against any Glock, any day. And because it's a hammer fired design, which I prefer, it shoots straighter and faster because you dan't have to squeeze as hard, and the recoil doesn't feel as "snappy" as a Glock. I love the De-cocker too. It allows me to carry with a round chambered and the safety off.
I bought my P95 about 2 yrs ago, date of manufacture is 2010. Don't make them new any longer but if you find one for about $300-$350 (paid $310 for mine) grab it!. It is a bit "clunky" as stated but it fits the hands well. I bought an IWB holster and it's comfortable enough for CC. I have an S&W SD40VE and both loaded are about the same weight, not much of a noticeable difference, maybe a few ounces heavier for the P95. The P95 is much more accurate IMHO due to the 40's "trigger safety". But I have had multiple stove pipes and hang ups with Remington UMC 115 gr 9mm Luger rounds. UMC 147 gr rounds shoot perfect with 0 hang ups with over 500 rounds to date fired. I assume the 115 gr rounds are jamming because of the heavy slide. Has anyone else with the P95 (or any other 9mm) experienced this with 115 gr round? My bro-in-laws S&W M&P 9mm has the same problems with the 115 gr rounds. With that said I have a Mega Box of 250 9mm UMC 115 gr rounds that I will never put in this magazine again. The stove pipes at the range are one thing but in a critical situation (heaven forbid) I don't want to be racking the slide every other round. For CC I use Personal Defense Hollow Point rounds, nothing under 135 gr. I feel confident with the weight of the gun and 147 gr rounds and hey, if I miss after 16 shots I'll throw the dam thing at them and knock em out!! Any feedback on the 115 gr rounds of any manufacturer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and happy shooting.
I carry mine daily during winter months. Get what you can with what you can and I love it. 100% Flawless reliability, excellent accuracy, 16 rounds its damn good. Still my bed stand gun along with my .38 snubby and 20 gauge pump shotgun. As far as reliability goes guys, 8,000 rounds, shot upside down, limp wristed, sideways, 27 brands of ammo, 14 different kinds of hollow points and FLAWLESS. My winter carry 4 years going.
YUP! I have no doubts about the dependability! And I still love how it looks. By the way, I like "Darth Malak" - COOL NAME. Is it an actual star wars character?
2improper yes it is. He is the main villain of KOTOR I. You should check the game out. You can find used copies for XBOX or buy a copy on Steam for PC. Excellent game BUT DO NOT WATCH RUclips SPOILRS! The plot twist is amazing! KOTOR II is also extremely bad ass but you wont understand it till you play the first one. Enjoy!
That gun was originally designed for the military in 19 85 but they were late to the show and didn't get picked up by the military but a lot of police departments got it all over the world combat ya boy 👍🏽 that's the one I'll pick up. I found mine from 1999 thousands of rounds through it nothing to complain about.
The p95 was the first handgun I ever purchased. One of the best pistols from ruger, too bad they stopped making it. It never gave me problems. I sold it to get a sig sp2022, I do miss the ruger.
The pistol is absolutely phenomenal. I love everything about it. I have had 3 or 4 malfunctions out of 2000 rounds. People do not shoot that much in a gun's lifetime, but I shot that in a year. I cannot say enough good about the gun.
It's very similar to the operation of the Beretta M9. It a well built work horse and just plan works. So for those that want a affordable reliable combat accurate defensive firearm it will do everything that a defensive firearm is suppose to do.
I will and have chose this gun over a Taurus g3 Smith &Wesson sdve9mm, a diamond back f9,I love this gun accurate and detailed but I have xl heavy hands. I would and carry this today. I love mine and will be looking for more. I had a p93 40cal and regret getting rid of it but hit hard times but not getting rid of this one.
hilarious how people want to rate every hand gun on how good it would be for a CCW...yet 99% of these people likely don't even plan to actually use it as a CCW. when Ruger came out with this gun, they didn't intend for it to be a CCW. get over that fact and once you do, you will realize how awesome this handgun is for the money spent (i got mine for $225 new). if you want a CCW, go for the LCR's, LCP's LC9"s etc. Ruger came out with these guns for a reason. they came out with the P95 for another reason. the P95 is a chunky, reliably, workhorse 9mm semi-auto. you could buy 2 of these and half a dozen mags for the price of 1 Sig.
glad people disregard this gun along with the p90 45acp. I got my p95 for a $150 bucks!! looks brand new and shoots brand new. he said it was to bug and heavy to cc. he also said there is so many superior guns that this chunk was all but worthless. so now I have a great 9mm Added to my collection from an ignorant gun snob.
This Is my dad's last gun, identical too, the only difference that it has camo , I just lost him a month ago rip dad miss you & i think about you everyday ❤️
What I like about the P95 over the decades is, IT HAS NEVER had an FTE! And I have shot a lot of 'cheaper' ammo that HAS failed to eject in other semi autos.
The model you have there is actually a ruger p95pr. The pr stands for picatinny rail and this model was introduced in 2005 and the updates added was the picatinny rail an the stippling around the grip. . And was the last up dated model of the 95 series. The p95 was introduced in 1996 and has had several updated models since its 96 original. And was discontinued from the ruger lineup in October of 2013.
this is the only 9mm pistol ive ever used that i havent seen a stovepipe on from limp wrisitng. try as hard as you want. it wont stovepipe. Excellent video. Excellent video quality. Excellent gun. Im so sad they dont make new ones anymore.
2improper Ruger 85 MKII,89,90,91,94,95,97 series are great pistols of the time, they could of kept making atleast 1 "P" series pistol for old times sake. my favorite was the MKII, it was big and heavy but cool as hell to shoot and amazing to look at as well. if you search some of the auction gun sites sometimes a mint Ruger P series pops up for a good price.
The ONLY and perhaps MAIN issue with the Ruger P95 is the double spring'd recoil spring. It is HEAVY as hell and yes long to slide lock too. Also, the take down on the P95 is very antiquated as it were. The magazines are still difficult to track down since the P95 calls back to the AWB of the 90's. There are probably 100,000 10-round magazines out there for it but I don't know what their production has been since the ban was lifted. That all being said, for any future buyers, trust me, get the 2nd generation of the p95 (shown in the video.) The original P95 used a very VERY slick plastic which was about a 0 on the grip scale. Also, the De-cocker on the first model was completely riding the slide serrations which made for a very uncomfortable racking action. If anything, this is a PERFECT low cost "back up" or "truck" gun. Throw it in an emergency bag or location and it will ALWAYS be ready and waiting for you. Damn DAMN reliable.
2improper Did you trade your Ruger for the Sig 2022 yet? if so what do you think of the trigger of the Sig? I just got a KP95 with a rail and its a pretty cool pistol, I actually like the non railed P95 AC shinny smooth black frame better then the KP95 textured frame, to me the smooth black frame is like a Ruger trade mark that they been making for ever on the P series, almost like the Bakolite on the p38 German war pistols of ww2.
sand man I did. Truthfully: I'd say the trigger on the P95 is slightly better than the trigger on the sig. The build on the Sig is better, but the P95 trigger is awesome.
i have the p95dc and the p345 i think they are great never had an issue yes they cost less then most guns i have kimbers sigs glocks witch cost alot butt i dont see much difference between them when it comes to performance
The P95 was my first 9mm Auto. The ejector would jam after around 20 shots. I traded it for a Glock. The Ruger is better looking, and feels much better, but I dont want a jammed weapon if I'm confronting an intruder.
For sure! You need it to be ready! As for me whenever that has happened, I would mark my magazines and see if it consistently was happening with the same magazine. That’s what that sounds like. So if you have the 20th round you are shooting go wrong and it was the same number on the magazine each time, it could have been a mag problem.
Looks like the serial # begins with 318, making the production date either in 2012-13, (sadly) the last years they were produced. But, it is still an EXCELLENT pistol! I have one myself, and to quote a great man, you'll have to pry it "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS"!
I have a Ruger p95 and absolutely love the gun it is very well made and the look and function of the gun probably better made than the guns of today,I probably paid more than I should have for it and it is bulkier than the guns of today but very accurate
2improper Sad sad man you. You should have just gotten an SP two years ago when they were in the $400 range. The mags are still $50 and they still ONLY ship with 1. However, now they are going for well into the $500 range which makes me just lean over to the Glocks or M&Ps. I say... as the Sp2022 was my first firearm.
Always been kinda nostalgic about the P-series pistols. The P89 was the first handgun I ever seriously considered purchasing. The thing's a monster haha! But a good monster.
2improper If I remember right, the P89 was a 9mm and the P90 was a .45? We sold both at one place I worked, but that was in 1993 so don't quote me on that. My memory needs to be defragged pretty badly :D
Great gun. Later versions made in Prescott Arizona are not as good south port era made ones. Slide laser etching is far cheaper looking and grip is grittier. Thanks for the video. Never met a Ruger p series I don't like
Mine lives in a holster that was found in a rather surprising place! Walmart Toy department $5... Made for those toy plastic shooting fake guns. Oddly enough, the exact same holster was found over in the Gun Department for $36!
planning to buy my first gun.. im looking at this ruger p95.. would it be my best cjoice as my first gun? for carry and home protection.. i have limited budget..
I have this gun and I like it a lot. The only problem I had at first was that the slide would sometimes not lock back after the last round. After about 200 rounds, the problem went away completely. I think it was a break in issue, the recoil spring is pretty hefty.
Yes they are excellent....Mine is my truck gun at this point....But as a training aide for the 16 year old it has been unsurpassed due to the decocker safety. And will fill that role again when my 2 babies reach that age.......
I wish they still made these, they cost around $329 new,now people who have them want to sell them for $375 & up.This is the perfect "any situation" firearm,,home defense, camping, garage, truck, target, and carry gun.
never looked into these until now just out of curiosity.. always just thought they looked corny. and to add to your 95 reference, let me just say; CZ75 AK47 1911 need i go on?
I bought my father the blued version test fired it loved it bought myself the stainless model it's very reliable & accurate.Yeah a little bulky but I CCW w/no discomfort.Love Rugers a shame they stopped producing them can't buy one on line anymore unless you over pay on Gunbroker.Shame.Great American made gun!Put a sleeve on the grip feels great!

Amen to that comment!!!✌♥️👍
It's a bad habit. Should never be done, and you know it.
@@jamesorth1521 it’s not a habit.
This was the first pistol to steal my heart. I absolutely love this firearm

Gun Slinger use it like a tomahawk and knock someones teeth out!
Gun Slinger. baha ha so true bro my favorite gun love my sig but the Roog is the dog im bringing to the fight thanks
I bought my P95 12 years ago, I love this gun, it shoots excellent, never had a problem with it. I’ve tried other 9MM’s , I’ll stay with my 95...

kind heart Yeah it is! I think it looks cool, too. Light recoil too.
Heavy? Outdated? what are the people looking for?
The price for this high capicity gun it is one of the best values out today ,,, I prefer it over a Glock due to the Ruger having great safetys and a hammer ... total plus!
This is a great compact gun for a larger person!
I agree with you 100%. I think a lot of people crap on things as soon as there are newer models: but I think this thing deserves respect, big time.
I agree hammer over striker fire anyday

Yeah- and I'm pretty surprised they're still cheap. I predicted wrong, thinking they'd start going up in value after they were discontinued.
They will-- *EVERYTHING* becomes collectable after a while. Some just take longer than others...
I have one and man it is accurate as heck and reliable. I love mine.
I just bought a p95, pick it up Friday. I've been happy with all the reviews I've been seeing. It really did feel good in the hand.
How much they running now?....or 2 years ago..lol
I just bought one of these used old beauties for $299 at a pawn shop. I had wanted one when they first came out, but never got one. Now I'm old, I finally got it.
It is now 2020 and this is my go to gun for home defense!! I own a s&w m&p shield, Mossberg 500, sig Sauer, but I love my Ruger I can put a 9mm round between someone's eyes at 30 yards!!

Cgiese80 You know; that's honestly one of the guns that I wouldn't think to modify. Maybe if XS made a big dot....other than that the thing seemed solid to me.
Cgiese80 see my comment about mec gar mags
I've actually never heard anyone hate on it. Every single gun shop worker I've asked about this gun has only said great things about it. One guy said it was a reliable brick of a gun I personally like the weight. It really helps The recoil
You are so correct! I have an M&P, a stainless Beretta 92F and the Ruger P95. I carry the P95 most. Not sure why. Maybe because it takes me back 20 years to simpler times in my life. It's not outdated. It reliably throws 9mm bullets all day long. That's all I need.
I have a P95....just love shooting it , my grandson always wants to take the P95, it'll be his when I'm gone, It's a joy to shoot and trouble free.
Great review. I too, LOVE my P95. The perfect pistola for large handed humans.
My dad bought me this gun on my 16th birthday!! This gun is amazing I love it!!
yup! The gun has solid character. You can't beat old school when it's that durable.
Nice bid. Thanks. I just bought this gun yesterday at a LGS I went to on my lunch hour. Wasn't even looking to buy a gun but picked up this Ruger and fell in love. It was used so I gave it a good cleaning tonight and will take it to the range tomorrow.
Shoots AWESOME, right?
Put 200 rounds down range with it Saturday of Winchester white box and it was flawless. Felt good. I wasn't Planning on Carrying this gun but I will find a good holster for it and have it as an option. Right now its cleaned and in the truck safe loaded with Hornady Critical D 135gr.. As I was leaving the range the attached Gun store I looked and they had a Ruger 85? it was all metal and in .45acp for $400. I may have to go back and pick it up.
Andy McVey COOL! You HAVE TO let me know how you like that one.
Yessir
I've owned the P89, P90 and P95. I now own a Ruger American Pistol and it's also a fantastic gun, but I miss the old hammer-fire P series. Great guns.
I bought one of the last available here about a month ago. Put a laser on it, and it shoots 1 inch groups at 15 yards. Love it!
Iam like you I Love my Ruger p95 dc I've had mine since 19,99 will always keep it Thanks for the video.
I carry mine every day and it never jams, I've dropped it from my motorcycle at speed I've dropped it in the woods from an ATV and it still performs beautiful absolutely love it
I owned two in the 90's. A blued and a stainless. Both decock only. Loved them.
Moved on to and SR9 now days.
+Bruce “Corelogik” Jenner How are you liking that SR9?
Bought mine back in 1997 and still have it, have no plans to get rid of it
it is the first semi automatic I have owned and the best shooting gun I own the recoil is even better than all the other pistols because of the heavier slide ruger really hit a winner with the p series pistols
Thanks for this overview. I was just given on of these from my father in law. What a great gun!
Todd Howman Pretty solid, isn’t it?
This was my very first handgun and I have the blued version everything you said about this gun is true it shoots great for its age im actually hunting to for a p90 the .40 caliber one im collecting all the 80s and 90s rugers actually this pistol is also one of my carry ons I switch between my G19 to P95 just so its not too boring
Have the P85 and the P95, and love both. Still occasionally open carry them. Never a bit of trouble with either one.
Better "internals" than "entrails," just say'in... lol
---
FWIW, I've owned my (gen 1) P95DC since I bought it new in 1996.
I'm not a huge guy, and I have carried (and still do) this gun comfortably, IWB, using a leather Don Hume H715M, for all that time...
When you utilize a quality holster, carrying concealed ain't all that hard... ☺
*Btw, that is an EXCELLENT tip about the XD holsters-- thanks!*
I was just recently considering buying another 95 from a local pawn shop, but was wondering about that...
I have two of them. Their very durable/reliable firearms that shoots very well.
thats what impressed me about them, too.
I sold it to get a sig sp2022, I do miss the ruger.
i just love these old rugers i have a p85 mk2 and i wont part with it for nothing. also have a sr40c just a ruger man through and through
The pistol is absolutely phenomenal.
Just purchased one. Pick it up in a few days.......can't wait.
I love my P95. The most reliable gun I own.
without a doubt!
Also the P96 polymer lower is develop by Ruger and its different than polymer today. And they might be the first to do this
hilarious how people want to rate every hand gun on how good it would be for a CCW...yet 99% of these people likely don't even plan to actually use it as a CCW.
when Ruger came out with this gun, they didn't intend for it to be a CCW. get over that fact and once you do, you will realize how awesome this handgun is for the money spent (i got mine for $225 new).
if you want a CCW, go for the LCR's, LCP's LC9"s etc. Ruger came out with these guns for a reason. they came out with the P95 for another reason.
the P95 is a chunky, reliably, workhorse 9mm semi-auto. you could buy 2 of these and half a dozen mags for the price of 1 Sig.
I plan on getting a P95 soon I hope. I currently own a P90 .45 ACP and it is my open EDC and I love it.
glad people disregard this gun along with the p90 45acp. I got my p95 for a $150 bucks!! looks brand new and shoots brand new. he said it was to bug and heavy to cc. he also said there is so many superior guns that this chunk was all but worthless. so now I have a great 9mm Added to my collection from an ignorant gun snob.
Luke Harmon Good find! A steal of a price.
Wanna sell?
This Is my dad's last gun, identical too, the only difference that it has camo , I just lost him a month ago rip dad miss you & i think about you everyday ❤️
@@miklo5641 I’m so sorry about your Dad. I pray for your family, as well as admiring your Dad’s taste in guns! I hope you are doing well.
I love my p95
What I like about the P95 over the decades is, IT HAS NEVER had an FTE! And I have shot a lot of 'cheaper' ammo that HAS failed to eject in other semi autos.
ruger doesnt have it on there site anymore, I dont think they are making the p95 anymore
yeah, I believe you're right. It kinda disappeared off their site in October.
They quit making it...too bad
And this pistol had the most satisfying feeling when you put the mag release.
Oh BTW I HAVE THAT exact same model and I'm allowed on it is the most reliable handgun I've ever owned.
john colburn Without a doubt, whatsoever. It'll go on longer than us if its taken care of!
this is the only 9mm pistol ive ever used that i havent seen a stovepipe on from limp wrisitng. try as hard as you want. it wont stovepipe. Excellent video. Excellent video quality. Excellent gun. Im so sad they dont make new ones anymore.
I know!! A lot of people were bummed that they stopped with that series. Thank you for the kind words!
Magazines are readily available. No problem.
I sold mine and have wanted it back ever since. Excellent gun, I think mine had ambidextrous safetys tho...is there a difference?
You're right...they're ambidextrous. Both sides are the safety/decocker
Im in the city so I havent got to just release mine but watching this video made me love my p95 even more....
Anna, I am glad! It's a cool pistol, yes?
Just bought one. Love it!
I've got a P95DC in a .45. I love it. Real sweet shooter.
+Ar_Razorback sounds more like a p97
Yeah, That would be a P97 - I've been looking for one of those for YEARS!
EQUIPA- I don't see why not! I believe it would keep on working, and on and on and on. I shot mine a lot. Many rounds...and not even one malfunction.
I want one.....several on gunbroker...but pricey now.
Or you could repair it.
first gun i ever shot....huge brick....my friends gun...that now has over 20000 rounds and going strong
Looks like the serial # begins with 318, making the production date either in 2012-13, (sadly) the last years they were produced. But, it is still an EXCELLENT pistol! I have one myself, and to quote a great man, you'll have to pry it "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS"!
LOL!
scar3fr3ak they P95 I bought today starts with 317, any info on that please?
I have a Ruger p95 and absolutely love the gun it is very well made and the look and function of the gun probably better made than the guns of today,I probably paid more than I should have for it and it is bulkier than the guns of today but very accurate
Timothy Gummert Well I’ll tell you what..... those are getting more and more scarce so you’re lucky to get it!
I think it is a nice looking pistol. It would certainly win the longest slide lock contest :)
Oh I know! I'm also getting the Sig SP 2022 - That one has, like, a 10 foot slide lock!
Nice Ruger classic
2improper Sad sad man you. You should have just gotten an SP two years ago when they were in the $400 range. The mags are still $50 and they still ONLY ship with 1. However, now they are going for well into the $500 range which makes me just lean over to the Glocks or M&Ps.
I say... as the Sp2022 was my first firearm.
cz75fanatic I agree with this message. I remember them being $400 as well.
cz75fanatic It's best to get guns when they are NOT popular. So you have to be a gun aficionado to know what you should buy and when..
Straight shooter and a great value. I paid $250 used. I got it because I didn't have $600 for a two tone Glock.
P.S. Qualified going through the San Bernardino County Sheriff's academy with one of these in 1997. Performed excellently.
Gorgeous looking handgun!
Always been kinda nostalgic about the P-series pistols. The P89 was the first handgun I ever seriously considered purchasing. The thing's a monster haha! But a good monster.
ah yes! Its kind of the "gentle beast"....LOL!
Is the P89 the .40?
2improper
If I remember right, the P89 was a 9mm and the P90 was a .45? We sold both at one place I worked, but that was in 1993 so don't quote me on that. My memory needs to be defragged pretty badly :D
Great gun. Later versions made in Prescott Arizona are not as good south port era made ones. Slide laser etching is far cheaper looking and grip is grittier. Thanks for the video. Never met a Ruger p series I don't like
my P95 is the best, love it.
Mine lives in a holster that was found in a rather surprising place! Walmart Toy department $5... Made for those toy plastic shooting fake guns. Oddly enough, the exact same holster was found over in the Gun Department for $36!
Kanda' Eirsie Oh yeah... you probably found the secret they didn’t want you to know about.
planning to buy my first gun.. im looking at this ruger p95.. would it be my best cjoice as my first gun? for carry and home protection.. i have limited budget..
It would be a magnificent choice for home protection! Get a light to attach and you'll be in business!
32oz but extremely well balanced in my hands.
Frank Black yeah- it doesn't feel that heavy.
Did u eplain the decocker? I must have miss that. Anyway, I have it as my home defense. Great gun.
I have this gun and I like it a lot. The only problem I had at first was that the slide would sometimes not lock back after the last round. After about 200 rounds, the problem went away completely. I think it was a break in issue, the recoil spring is pretty hefty.
Yeah it is. I wonder if anyone else had that problem? This is the first I heard of it. Its a friggin great gun, eh?
2improper Yep no regrets buying this gun
Good learning video for a beginner. Thanks!
Yes they are excellent....Mine is my truck gun at this point....But as a training aide for the 16 year old it has been unsurpassed due to the decocker safety. And will fill that role again when my 2 babies reach that age.......
For Home defense these are the best out there still. I Love Mine
Had one of these in the 90s. It got stolen. I still miss it. Just as rugged as a Glock but far more elegant.
I love my p95 ❤🙏
Ha ! I love my Ruger P95 but agree with other poster don't put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to pull it.
It's an awesome gun!! (Video on video filming stuff forthcoming)....
I wish they still made these, they cost around $329 new,now people who have them want to sell them for $375 & up.This is the perfect "any situation" firearm,,home defense, camping, garage, truck, target, and carry gun.
oh yeah...now supply and demand is going to drive up the cost.
never looked into these until now just out of curiosity.. always just thought they looked corny.
and to add to your 95 reference, let me just say;
CZ75
AK47
1911
need i go on?
Good video but you forgot to show the decocker function....
YUP! I was just saying that a while ago. It really isn't that hard a gun to carry.
I have a P-89 & P-95 love them !!!
