A rad and hoses going out on a 20yr old vehicle is hardly "unreliable". Those should have been replaced along with any other wear item.

The SECOND you drive it off the lot it's worth $8K. 4 years later it's worth $4K if that, (with low mileage) but since they only offered $300, obviously the sign was that nobody wants one of those used and I don't blame them.
Also you don't seem to understand what pinched frame rails are. On a unibody car there is still a reinforced channel area welded to the cab, if not just the cab floor itself bend into a reinforced shape. It's not hard to see when a car buckles that area and creates a ripple, doesn't have to be in an accident to do so if it's cheaply made and loaded unevenly through passenger and cargo weight plus driving stress.
They could have been lying of course, but it doesn't really matter when the offer is so low that they know you can get the same out of it at a scrap yard, so all they're really doing is saying "sure we'll scrap this for you if you'll take $200 less than we'll get for it from the scrap yard, so we're paid $200 to drive it there".

The Viper is also a terrible daily driver/road car. It's an amazing track car but not practical at all to have as your only car. Salomondrin sold his Viper ACR because he said it's unusable most of the time.
Insurance for a dodge viper under 25 years of age is about 4K annually. Last year it was most expensive vehicle to insure lol.

They offered me less than the driveshaft is worth as a used part. I told them they can keep their fleet of retired rental cars, I'll go elsewhere.

I bought my GTS new in 2001. Almost 70,000 miles later, (much of it on track), only had a water pump failure. It's been very reliable.

Read the the fine print on contract before you sign with carmax. they will have making payments for five years instead of the 3- 1/2 years agreed on. Read or have any contracts read by attorney.

I actually work at carmax, we will take any car no matter what but the value will have a huge difference, if it's to old or has big aftermarket parts or over 130k miles it will go into an auction that we sell to other dealers, that's where most of the exotics we get go to
