- I've been looking at all the prefab home options available for years now and one thing people are always looking for is something that's affordable and looks cool. For this video I went to visit Ilumhouse to see their line of cottage style prefab homes that I think have a great look. Watch and learn more about Ilumhouse, specifically their Nordic Sauna model being used as and ADU on a property in Latvia.

2 minutes into the video I already like, no love this!
Awesome!
Love the layout... and the haircut :)
Thank you 🏠 💇🏼♂️
I'll never be able to afford this home but still love watch
This was a great road trip love these great video as usual!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thats it for the Latvia series
I love the modern design of this home. It's so bright and airy.😃
Thanks for watching
Love their design and features. Definitely a top pick
Great to hear 🙌🏼
Kerry, today you look different. Usually your hair looks like fluffy meringue on top of a Lemon Meringue Pie but today your hair looks smoky, like the meringue on top of a Baked Alaska that's been under the torch too long. Fascinating.
That’s hysterical. Kerry loves comments about his hair and the outrage over prices. 😂😂😂
Haha! Likely the lighting. Moved and setting up a new space. Will work in bringing back the fluffy meringue 😆
@@KerryTarnow Could be the seasons are changing. Your hair gets white under the sun, you know, like a fluffy cloud in Spring.
Bruh wth
LOL! How many videos did you get from one trip? Kerry’s hair doesn’t look any worse in this model than it did in the other ones. Give him a break people imagine how you might look after flying all the way to freaking Latvia!
Kerry, you always make me snicker, thanks for that! I like this one. Love the sauna and one could possibly put a Murphy bed in the living space. And use the loft for storage. I may have dosed off, but was there anything like a closet?
Ok I love it ! Put the tv above fireplace get a movable island and ditch table and it is perfect ! We love your video and I steal ideas for my 3 tiny homes.
Good idea! 📺
Yes. There's a dining table and chairs on the deck. I live in Southern California, so most evenings I can use that for guests.
Ikea have this coffee table with a raisable top, it's meant to be used as a dining table when you sit at your sofa. So they could replace the dining table with those coffee table and add some moveable console for the TV.
I spent 3 years living in an ADU. It was nowhere near as nice as this model. 😍
I think instead of adding shelves to the kitchen I’d add a microwave. 🍱
It’s awesome that you got to tour the home finished and installed. Thanks to you, we can all get a realistic feel for what the end product will be. 👍👍
Another great video Kerry. You’ve really set the bar high. 😎
Thanks Billy! Working on something else cool as we speak. (East Coast USA)
Great look at a great price!
Thanks for watching 👊🏻
This is the company I MUST buy from, Ilum!!!!
I enjoyed your video as always, great info. Keep up the good work Kerry! 👊
Thanks Jaro, appreciate that
I won't whine about lack of storage, lol. I agree with Kerry's overall analysis of this model.
Thanks Jenn!
Great video, thanks for the tour. 👍
Thanks Dale!
I Would Set It All Off With Black Sheer Drapes !!!
Love it
I like his "baked Alaskan" or meringue hair. And I like the cozy chair versus the desk and couch behind backdrop.
Good layout. No sauna for me, I would make it a downstairs bed/ office.
🥶🖤🔔👍🏻🥰
Thank you! Glad you like the new set, its a work in progress 🙌🏼
Kerry, it is affordable 🙋
I would prefer no sauna, the bedroom near the bathroom 🕵️
The main space with armchairs instead of the sofa 💛
I don't want a TV, only a good tablet 💛
It's not my "dream house" yet, but it's close 🙆
I really like these videos where you travel and present these prefab homes 💛
Thanks Ana, glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏼
Much better vibe to this house than the modern ones. Good job, Kerry!
Thank you! Glad you like it
This is what I’ve been waiting for 😁 when I saw the price I had to click on the video.
Hope you like it!
@@KerryTarnow ❤️
Thank you Kerry. Much appreciated as always.
Thanks for watching!
Oh man, I kinda love this thing Karrie I wonder if they can put a bathroom in here and replacement of the sauna
Hey Kerry, out of the "several hundred videos" that you have created and published, how many are available for delivery TODAY? How about publishing a vid of a home that can be purchased and delivered in a reasonable time frame, please? Oh, and in the good ole US of A, eh!
The US doesn’t “like” ADU’s, Tiny Homes or Prefabs. It’s bad for the business of keeping citizens in debt.
I'd put the flat screen above the fireplace and mount it on one of those extendable brackets, unless you could find a system where it lowers from the ceiling. Nexus 21 has some really cool flip down and drop down automatic remote tv brackets
Thats a great idea
The floor plan shows a sofa with it's back to the big window, so the 85" flat screen CAN go on the wall! I want one!
Good point!
Thank you, Kerry.
Thanks for watching Julie
So cool!
Kerry....
GETTING CLOSE!
THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS!!!
Thanks for watching
Lololololol… Kerry’s a good sport!
Haha
Love the sauna!
same here
Kerry, I'm so glad that RUclips cycles these through to your fans. I tend to agree about the eye appeal. Looking forward to retirement in the near future, I disagree about having a dedicated bedroom. I'm anticipating that up and down a ladder wont work for this old man. But that is a preference thing in my book. I'd really like to see builders going back to the victorian era when the front parlor of the home served multiple functions. You might recall that they had tables where the top would tilt up allowing the table to slide against the wall. So few of us use dining rooms any more, do we need a table always present? I don't. Oh that's another preference. There ya go. As always thanks Kerry.
Absolutely love the price phenomenal!
glad to hear it
Great home,great price Thanks
Thanks for watching
Kerry, great video. Did you sleep in the loft or on the couch? Instead of a TV, I would consider a projection screen. Pull it down only when in use.
Great idea! I wasn’t actually staying in it this time
I love the idea that there's a sauna can they do steam as well Saunas and steamed are so healthy for you
I think i'd like to take one Sauna unit that would be a
Bedroom bathroom and a sauna.. And one more Sauna
that would be a kitchen
and a living room. With a Sun room between them.
I like it. Removing one big window makes room for the TV
Totally
Great interior design. Geen cabinets with black handles.. wow. ❤
Glad you like it
Thanks, Kerry! What is your opinion about why Europe and Canada are so big on manufactured small homes? Are they subsidized by the government?
I've been watching your channel for two years now and have loved how you review each builder. I have been looking for a small prefab home to put on my 5 acres to retire to. I've been searching even before I found your channel, mostly not doing anything because I still have to put in a water well. This last June I had an excavation company come in and put in a driveway and level pad. I recently found this builder in WA USA, Wolf Industries. Could you look into it? It looks very promising. They have eight different floor plans from one bedroom to two. With the pricing from $64,500 (one bedroom) to $170,000 (two bedroom).
Too bad you didn't comment on the small fireplace. The facing looks like soapstone. very nice feature, especially with adequate thermal mass, something possibly hard to do with a shipped building.
I could see making the sauna room into a bedroom and use the loft for storage. But I see they have a Single Model I like better. If I had to have a tv I would put it above the fireplace, but I’m fine with watching videos on my iPad.
I have a portable induction stove that could on the counter, or outside on the table there.
I do like the color scheme a lot
Too bad they only deliver in Europe. If they had a NA production facility I would be interested in
Great ideas!
Great looking ADU. Good price. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear on their website that they ship to the USA. I love your channel, but find very few of your models that ship to Washington State, Seattle area.
I'm pretty minimalist but this is just too spartan for me. Is there anything Boxabl-like (similar layout and price) that would be available in western Canada within the next year or so? Thanks as always for the ginch mention😅, Terry!
love it, would be great to have a video on the process of these or any prefab, in Colorado its very difficult to get a prefab it seems, especially off grid, is it any easer in Canada?
The buying process or the site prep, delivery, construction process?
site prep, especially if you buy land without anything IE, water, sewer, elec.@@KerryTarnow
Coed & buck in Swedish saunas
Haha is that a fact?
Very nice, any idea if they are wind / storm rated for hurricane season?
SHEEESH!
Does it sleep 6? Just curious because of the table on the deck. I do love their style though.
This may be the most affordable tiny home you’ve toured.
I think you’re right
It would be even more helpful if you could help us better understand the cost, (rough "Ball-Park"), to the West Coast of America building site based on actual costs of similar products, Eh!?@@KerryTarnow
Love it ! But I have a Prosthetic leg. NO Lofts for me.
The two bedroom looks very cool. but can it be delivered to Philadelphia pa? and why is all the demand on west coast and not the east?
ADU
Accessory Dwelling Unit
Exactly 🙌🏼
Can you please show us their Skara-60 option that has been purchased?
Hi Kerry. Illum is not available in Canada, though, is it? Or, is it strictly for Europe-only delivery?
What are they using for plumping?
Is the toilet connected to a septic tank ?
Ah. A sauna with a juice bar maybe (That is NOT a kitchenette - there’s nothing to cook on nor an outlet to plug in anything) and a lounge. Lofts are not for adults over 30. I don’t like the woody look inside, but the outside is a yes. I also love a big deck like this on; that’s a necessity in florida. Maybe this is an author’s writing studio or an office, but home?? Nope.
Do you have the option of opting out of the sauna and expand the kitchen?
Yes
Ok... for me, I'd kill the sauna and create a larger kitchen. No loft. I couldn't live full time here. But a weekend cabin... sold
Thanks for watching
Hey Kerry, I have been following your videos for a while now.... thanks for that..... but i was curious.... how do you decide if someone is legit enough to buy from when you are a first time home buyer?
Before buying I would always go see the home in person and ask for referrals from other buyers
Are they disaster proof / hurricane rated etc?
it's a flexible open concept home and is adaptable...one imagines A) joining 2 units...B) building 2 units and an adjoining deck ?
oops was watching 'dazed n confused'! .. ok whatcha got?
Haha! Alright alright alright
Which coast are you on? Still two manufacturers on east coast like in CT?
Im on the west coast
I wish there more like this in the USA
There are. Lots of them. Also check out the ultramodern capsule houses, also available in the US.
@@edennis8578 thank you 🙏🏽 I appreciate that
Hi, what do you think about Chinese capsule homes? Do you know anybody purchased capsule home and what was their experience?
Do they ship to California?
Great! Was this unit installed in the US or EU?
EU
I do worry where all their timber comes from. How sustainable are their timber sources?
These really are affordable!! Thank God! On their website Nordic double, 590 sq/ft, 83k. If only they delivered to the U.S :(
They’re working on it
WOOOO! HOOOOO! WHEN???????@@KerryTarnow
There are many of these prefab type houses available in the US, starting from $11,000. They come with all of the plumbing and wiring, and the kitchen and bathroom fixtures. Free shipping, too.
Can't get it in the US though. Is there something like this for the US?
Check out drop structures
Oodles. It's a big thing. Prefab tiny houses, or capsule houses.
Wish we could get the Nordic Single in the States and at that price (53,200 Euro equals
58,081.10 United States Dollar, per their website 11/17/23). One BR plus that big loft!
There are lots of this kind of prefab house available in the US, starting from $11,000, with kitchen and bathroom fixtures included, and free shipping.
I really like these Latvia homes, I'm a minimalist because I work too damn much and I'm divorced .. and she got (took) everything in the divorce .. (except my clothes and the kitchen stuff since she didn't cook, Hence: Minimalist Since I'm gone about 50 weeks out of the year, I'm in hotels in the Western US, I go home to remind myself I have a bed and figured that Boxabl would be the same as a Hotel room since that's where I am mostly .. Boxabl is now $60,000 USD all inclusive, the factory is open in Las Vegas and they're towable so delivery and set up seems easier than these but I do like these Iluminatti homes.. what else would you sayis a good consideration for my lifestyle?
You might check out other prefab houses available in the US; they start around $11,000 and include everything except the plumbing hookup and the electrical hookup. But all of the necessaries are there. Shipping is free. Or a capsule house, which are super cool. These are also available in the US.
@@edennis8578 What's a prefab house that starts at 11k?
Boxabl isn’t shipping shit except TRAILERS!
Would eliminating the sauna to convert to a bedroom drop the price?
You never know! Its a good idea
Are they planing to have production in the United States?
Not that I know of
It wouldn't be this cheap with US labor lol
@@sprightly106Many of this type of prefab tiny house are available in the US, starting at $11,000. Google it; it's becoming quite a big thing.
How can I buy one?
are they available for US market
They’re working on it
@@KerryTarnow thanks Kerry, I been watching for something like this b/c my backyard oasis is near completion and one thing missing is an ADU like this in case the misses kicks me out lol
And as far as if you absolutely need an eighty five inch t, v, you can buy a projector screen that can be put away and you can get a hundred inch screen for that matter.😮
Looks great! But again impossible for California...
@4:40, a kitchenette with a fridge but no means to cook anything?
An air fryer or toaster oven is inexpensive; or a hot plate. I use my air fryer and toaster oven most of the time; I haven't used my big oven in years. My coffee maker sits on my counter. The appliances could also sit on a small cart. You don't need built-ins if you live simply.
rain water will jump those gutters - no question bout that...
Price?
BEAUTIFUL. but way too much glass.Think of all the disadvantages of living behind a thin pane of glass.
Thank you for the feedback
👍👍👍
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
❤
💥
IS this available in the USA? The website is in latvian and Russian!
Probably but the shipping would be as high as the cost of the home.
👍
🙌🏼
I went to the website and they do not appear to ship to the United States. I've emailed them and they do not respond. When you make an inquiry request you can't even put a U.S. number
Definitely designed/constructed for people in that country, but nice.
Apparently your hair has sparkled the algorithm....
Hahaha!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Can we just start delineating “prefabs”. Most of what you post are tiny homes. Would love to see some bigger homes a family could actually move around in!
Have some larger options coming
My goodness I know it is there thing but can I sans the sauna for an actual bedroom 😂
cost?
starting at around 40K
That kitchen is perfect if you don't like to eat.
All you need are some small appliances if you only cook for two people. Get a cart and store an air fryer, a toaster oven, and a coffee maker. That's all I need for me and my husband. I haven't used my big oven in years.
door swing out, humm in winter, not good idea.
Thank you for the deets!! I enjoyed this format!! That corner of your home makes you look not so good.
Haha! Im working on the corner 😂
Quick suggestion, would be amazing if you separated your videos into playlists based on location e.g. North America, Europe etc
Good idea! Thanks
@@KerryTarnow my pleasure. Was also thinking could create a simple landing site and have the videos divided via tag into loads of different factors like location, size, styles, tech etc. Would be so useful for people and could be a really good earner for you (especially if you had ads and affiliate links to the builders).
Man if you add some stucco you'll never ever know its prefab
That's a Latvia for the money. 😶
Haha 🥁
Ok, being realistic here…and this is merely my opinion…this is a nice, well-built cottage, but if you have ever tried to sit under a mini split that is blasting heat or AC from the ceiling you will know what I mean…it’s not comfortable. Most of these tiny home designs are adequate but you must admit that most people do not live the kind of spartan existence that this structure demands…that is, if you wish to keep it clear of the accoutrements of actual living. Here’s a question for you…why does there seem to be an “implied distaste” for having an entertainment center in your living room in the vast majority of these designs? Most folks love to watch movies or listen to music in their living space and their tv can provide access to both. Not slighting this company in the least…they’ve made a solid product…I’m just asking…could it be that the screens and wires and other equipment takes away from the minimalist aesthetic?
Why cook could work with this small amount of counter space? Their prep zone would have to spill over onto the kitchen table or they would require an additional piece of furniture that takes up floor space in order to have some kind of functionality. Consider, exactly, HOW someone could prep for a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner in this space. It may work, for some people, if they live in a sub-tropical climate where they can have more outside living space, but for those of us who reside in cold climates, it’s problematic. As I said, this is merely my own opinion, but this design lends itself more to a vacation cabin or, perhaps, to a Minimalist (cool if you are one) than it does to most buyers.
Many people can no longer afford the housing costs in much of the country. Such a place is better than the closet size apartments they're forced to live in now, and cheaper. The prefab tiny houses available in the US start at $10k. That's 4 or 5 months rent in some places for a closet. I lived in an apartment this size more than once.
