I faced the same work requirement of a trailer payload just over 1800kg, gross near 2200kg but needed to also carry an internal van load of around 920kg. Delivery site requires to drive an uphill gravel road section and unfortunately being FWD my current Custom and Trafic aren't able to do the work. My only choices came down to 4motion Transporter and Vito 119CD and luckily a Vito with wing doors was available on a dealers floor. If the Custom came in AWD i would have ordered and waited for one as they're better value than a Transporter when you try to match specs.

I tow 12m 1.8 tonne trailer with a 350L and it is a little slow going up hills but overall very stable and comfortable

As someone who owns a Transit Custom DCiV Long wheel base, albeit a 340L, I would just mention that the engine braking is limited in the automatic version, especially when towing. I regularly travel up and over a mountain (climb of 750m up and down) and tend to use the manual mode when descending, but I do have to rely on the brakes to reduce speed build up. Otherwise an amazing vehicle to drive, always sure footed and plenty of torque even with a load on board and out the back. selected this over the current Hiace for driving ability and the fact that it fells like what you paid for, unlike the Hiace, which feels cheap despite costing similar, when matching specs.

I wonder what happened in channel to reduce views and liked so hard
The contents are still fresh and informative as they were, and still
    Might depend on the vehicle...

When they work they are the best around. We haven’t had great experiences with being able to keeping the Transits on the road consistently. If driven by owner operators and you are careful with them, probably a really good option. Being part of a fleet driven by people that don’t care what happens to the vehicle, stay clear if you value your cash flow.

I'm assuming you're referring to the current models. My staff have racked up 102,00km in a 2017 model, even crashed into the back of another car.. and it's taken all they have dished out...

It's very nice van. I wish Ford will bring it to the state side instead of that little Transit Connect Wagon.

genuine question why don't tradies buy these in droves instead of 4x4 dual cab utes?

The transit custom tows a 1800 kg trailer with brakes. The utes can tow 3500kg (yes I can hear you Cadogan). The tradies put a tool box in the small tray and tow heavy trailers. The 4wd enables them to access muddy building sites. They throw dirty tools in the tray and then hose it out. It isn't easy to hose a van out. The 4wd utes are safer in a crash as seen with the poor tradie in the van on the Sydney Harbour Bridge who is still in hospital and won't ever recover.

The cherry picker doesn't look like it weighs 1. 8 tonnes. You can't see weight.
