Hello, this Dr. Grande. I make a living as an internet personality and supplementrd by the generous donations from viewers like you. I am not psychoanalizin myself, just speculating. I am a humble person. My videos usually contained background, the actual events reported, have a little bit of dry humor here and there, and concluded with my opinion of what I think happened and the reasons behind the event. I hope that I can continue to entertain and inform you for years to come, and may my endeavors be fulfilled 🙏 and that I am able to continue to help out those in need!

I wouldn’t hand that book to a 7 yr old. I myself take responsibility for my child’s ability to think critically. The term “critical thinking” is a very broad brush. That adults think children learn to think critically from school lessons or via reading particular books indicates to me that the kids of those people are doomed.

Exactly, more and more, Huberman just started reporting on other people's studies. Literally anybody can do that, yet because Huberman has a PhD, his fan base acted like everything he was reporting was the product of his own work and used it to to further inflate his internet credibility. For sure, Huberman is intelligent. But as you pointed out, he started drifting far from his core competencies, with everyone treating him like some sort of prophet and acting like doing cold plunges and staring at the sun will negate all their other bad habits because the advice was coming from a PhD.

I completely agree with your statement. This is my personal experience with my own health care and life being preserved after being misdiagnosed and by the fact that not only was I one of the first documented cases, but to this day of the approximate 500 annual cases 3 decades after I was diagnosed, today if people are fortunate enough to live through it, they often have multiple limbs surgically removed to preserve their life. I kept all of my limbs but I'm still alive as a result of the right surgeon having me as their patient. I also have a family member that is a ground breaking surgeon in the pediatric orthopedic field at Saint Jude hospital as well. Not all surgeons are equal and as long as they can save lives and improve the quality of life for their patients, I don't need to know the dirt in their lives. I'm glad your Dad was fortunate enough to find his surgeon. Wishing your family much love and happiness in your years to come together. 💛

I watch Huberman, although not regularly, I've never thought of him as a guru, but an engaging professor, and knowledgeable of the research that he has to know for his teaching, his own health, but more importantly to me, people's health into their age. It is always presented as voluntary, and never "preached". I don't think I've ever heard him preach about anything the article criticizes, so if his lifestyle is what makes him happy, or other women frustrated/upset, it's not promoted or revealed, so I don't care. In the end, I don't see his videos as anything but info you can take or leave. Am I missing something?

I’m not sure that Huberman doesn’t support flu vaccines and sunscreen. I remember in has video about cold and flu he distinctly recommends getting them, but says that they aren’t 100% effective because you might contract a strain not included in the vaccine. He also says that sunscreen is effective at preventing sunburn and skin cancer. I’m not sure where you heard him say it’s potentially hazardous, but I feel like that might be out of context.

    • @pravak6745

That’s exactly what makes him so popular. We’ve known these things for years, it’s the way hubberman is able to present information in a sensational way is what makes it stick. Works great for actual helpful advice but when he has that same level of sensationalism for every point he’s making, then he begins to become questionable - it’s very good to be weary of or at least take notice of while watching his videos. He states things still debated in science as fact, he makes so many disputable correlations, but it’s always framed in a way that’s self-help/motivational/true. So of course his content is going to be popular amongst laymen, it’s waaay more convincing than the average self-help gurus, because it’s “””backed by”””” science, more specifically Andrew Hubberman’s Science. This is why those in the realm of science are reluctant about him. I’ve seen various videos where doctors and scientists had to point out his video of in-factual or misleading information, or misrepresented scientific studies. Please just listen to the helpful advice, but just bc he’s giving good general advice in a novel way - doesn’t mean we should take every word for gospel. Just be weary

Sounds like the gorgeous bronzed guru god - muscles, PhD and all - my niece fell for. I disliked him instantly. Never had she met a man she could connect with on so many levels! He was her teacher, her spiritual guide, her soulmate, protector, lover, and best friend. When she found out he had about a dozen “best friends” (we live on an island a sixth the size of Aruba, which sure cuts down on the travel time) she was so devastated she went into a years-long depression. All this ended when he contacted her belatedly with the news he had cancer, needed her forgiveness and care, and convinced her that, despite his silly dalliances, she had been “the only one.”
She did, indeed, rise to the occasion, but in doing so, met some of the other “only ones”, and they all became friends, rather like the many wives of Richard Harris.
To this day, though, she believes that she was special above all the others.

I started noticing some changes in his behavior and ended up catching him in bed with a woman. A few days later he had to step down from his position to be investigated. A person from his office was accusing him of S harassment. Was all over the local news. He was charged. 10 months later when the case came to an end, his whole file was published online in a newspaper page. That is when I learned how many women he was having unprotected S with and how many he was pursuing. It was absolutely disgusting and it affected me so much I have not dated ever since.

I find his podcasts helpful and entertaining - particularly the ones about sleeping and women’s health. I sometimes put it on when I’m washing dishes or other menial tasks to make it less tedious.
    And I am a woman.
I am not buying into the “selling his brand of masculinity” line.
He is smart, attractive and successful- including with women. Good for him.
Given that the women found out, they could have opted to just stop their relationship with him, but why did some of them continue?
Also, we could only hear the article’s version of the story, which I’m sure comes with its own set of biases and motivations.
He is a human being just like all of us. I’m glad I’m not famous enough for people to go after me because 1) I’m sure people would 2) I don’t live in a way that is agreeable to 100% of other people.

Just because someone isn’t a good intimate partner doesn’t mean they can’t have other good qualities for the people outside of that.. also, I don’t think values in a relationship necessarily equate to values elsewhere. MLK was a serial cheater for example, doesn’t mean he wasn’t also a good man in other respects.

I'm a woman and it surprises me a little how much those personal flaws of his (if they are truthfully presented) annoys me now. I would never ever waste my talent as journalist or editor on filthy articles like the one about him, it's just nasty, but now it's done. And unfortunately I'm paradoxically also glad I got to know about it. I guess the link between the personal and the private in a case like this is quite simple, like basic instincts meant to be helpful navigating in ones own, real life.
I can't help feeling like if AH is capable of acting as helpless and dysfunctional as that in his private life, well, then he doesn't seem completely trustworthy as a science guy either. It's like that saying "The way you do anything is the way you do everything." Sorry Andrew but you just appear less rational and clear minded in general now. I honestly don't know how unfair or fair this actually is.
But it's not exactly far fetched to see a certain relevance between the general topic of good health, mental and emotional strength - with striving to be an authentic, straight forward, wholehearted person who doesn't (at least not more than the average commonly flawed human) build his private world on lies, deceit, and deception. I mean, this story was about so much more than having sex. Something like what's described here doesn't happen inside a bubble right? - just imagine how other relationships must, to different degrees be affected too, over time. Friendships, family, collegues... A rather bizarre situation, if you ask me :-) And from that, it's easy to lose interest in him as a professional. It's as simple as i don't want to be supportive of someone who represents that kind of unhealthy weirdness.
That doesn't mean I'm not without knowing it supporting several others, who are doing similar and much worse stuff. And maybe what they are contributing with (like on a youtube channel or whatever) really is not affected by it whatsoever. Who knows - I don't...

I don't understand how a woman who noses into someone's (ostensibly-private) journal, discovering that he's been seeing someone else, continues to remain in a relationship with him. I'm not giving him a pass on the scoundrel's behavior, but you did say that five of the women he's wronged considered themselves "insightful," among other descriptors. I'm a woman. If I choose to remain with a scoundrel, that's on me. And there was a reason she went into that journal.

I think there is a problem with people idolizing certain entrainment personalities and then being upset when they discover the person has flaws. All humans have flaws. Andrew frequently explores alternative forms of medicine for common health problems, attracting many individuals who have found conventional methods ineffective.
Compared to his work, soft sciences like psychology are also less evidence-based than hard sciences. Yet, we do not harshly criticize psychologists for applying their theories and models, even when these are often based on weak associations.
Similarly, Andrew's work in emerging fields, which lack a central paradigm, plays a crucial role in the evolution of science. Some of these alternative methods will develop into accepted 'normal' science, while others will be debunked. This field requires pioneers and is vital for the advancement of scientific knowledge. Scientific breakthroughs often result from unconventional thinkers and methods on the fringes of established science.
This is why I respect Andrew Huberman's work but also remain critical of his claims.
