To know a mother and a nurse put so many at risk over an insurance payday was just sickening. At first, many of us couldn't sleep at nights out of fear our own gas line would blow up. Dear Lord, what is wrong with some people?? My family & I had to evacuate from an apt. that we rented from a lifelong family friend. My son called me down where boiler was located. All I could smell was (mercaptan) rotten egg smell all throughout the basement. Told him to take cell phone but not to press any buttons, light switches, etc. & go out of house far away & call FDNY. They came asap. We all evacuated, they shut down gas valve lines. House was ready to explode.😢

My co-worker blew up his house using the fill-the-house-up-with-natural-gas method also. I never heard how the gas was ignited. His body was found in the basement where the natural gas line entered the house. The house was completely destroyed but somehow the nearby houses received only partial damage.
I lived a couple of miles from his house and when it happened we were entertaining my sister and brother-in-law at my home. We heard and felt a large ‘thud’ sound and I thought our young children were jumping off a bed upstairs. I only found out the next day about the explosion.
I liked my co-worker but I also knew that his wife had taken their kids and had left him. I knew this because we lived next door to the wife’s sister and she filled us in on the domestic drama. It came to light that his wife had good reasons to leave him. He was kind at work but I guess he had a hidden side of controlling and angry behaviour within his home. The common cliche of “no one knows what goes on behind closed doors” was true in his case.

She also lied and tried to scam further by telling the insurance company she owned a Picasso that way she can get more money from the insurance company. Dr Grande said she indicated she was fine with her husband scamming innocent women for money, as long as he didn't have sex with them. She had zero empathy for those women. Maybe she didn't expect people to die, but she was 100% on board with insurance scamming and claiming she lost a Picasso. She deserves 50 years.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t believe them. It’s just hard to imagine them finding all the pieces they need in order to make it all come together in the end to come up with an educated guess as to what happened.
