Eddie... The more I see of him since he passed, the more I realise how amazing a person he was for keeping it together whilst he was suffering. I feel, at least for me and (and maybe millions of other people out there feel the same as I don't think I'm unique in this).., like I knew him. His personality, for example in this interview, is so genuine and approachable. There just didn't seem to be any pretense about him.
He was a really good dude. He fought cancer since 2000 and his alcoholism. The last twenty years were tough on him. I’ve had a close family member and a friend die from throat cancer. It’s not a nice way to go. RIP EVH.

Eddie was clearly going through a lot so yes, he probably wasn't looking his sharpest but we all have such days. The interviewer came off a bit airheaded by asking ridiculous questions in rather poor taste but Eddie owned her at the end when he asked her about having a man to play with. We love you Eddie.

He was his own package, did not try to look or be like anyone but himself. I think, it's what makes him famous and so unique. His life story is. great one...that all if not many will relate to. A familia's that started off as a poor immigrant in the US, and his parents used their God-given talent and raised them the same to make a living of it. It's hard for musicians to survive, given the unpredictability of getting gigs, and slowly get recognition, and staying musically and creatively popular, which he and the band worked so hard for, until he and band became Rock Stars. His life was his music, but it is a real struggle to keep staying up there forever...sadly, he still struggled till the end. Thank you for our impish smile and the happiness to this world EVH! Eddie's health got much worse after this. He was on death's doorstep for a few years after this. His cancer has returned a few times, plus his battle with drug and alcohol addiction. He's clean now in 2019 and actually looks pretty good considering what he's been through.

My brother, who has cancer, says it's difficult to go out places because of people asking such questions about your cancer. It's not an easy subject to discuss your personal health with a total stranger in a public setting. Couldn't you think of other questions or have fun with him instead of brining up a BAD subject? He said it's personal.

This was 20 years ago. 99 or 2000 ish. Ed was in full blown drug/ alcohol haze. Not his best years. But he's come around and is sober and looks great.
